And understand that it can remember the last value for the rotaries but my question is if there's any way Logic can send its initial values to the knobs before they have been touched?
and/or
How does it know what value its sending? Lets say its a filter cutoff with range 1-127 and you open a project where the cutoff was saved at 66. When you touch the controller it send a + or - value but how does it find out that the value was originally 66?
What happens if you reach the "roof" value of 127 and keep turning, will the little led lights keep circling the knob while your filter remains at it maximum value?

The functionality you want can be done when the Logic developers make a specific control surface module, but not when you are creating your own controller handling - you only get the functionality that's in the controller assign windows.
The functionality there is good (when it works) but doesn't let you build you own custom support to the level you want, as far as I know, and without looking at your docs or specifications too closely.

Hi all,
I faced a problem by using incremental rotary encoder to measure the absolute position of the rotation.
I'm not using NI-Daqmx but NI-motion module. In NI-motion module, I use read encoder position.vi to read the position of the encoder.
However, the readings is in incremental form. I'm doing the feedback control, so I need the absolute position and velocity.
Is there any functions or vi in the labview that can be used to transform the information of incremental encoder to the absolute one?

1. The incremental encoder provides incremental position. After switching on the encoder power the encoder counts upwards or downwards. For the absolute position you need the index (R or I) signal. I don't know which type of incremental encoder you have but there should be A, B and (I or R) signals. The index signal should reset the counter to zero setting this way a pseudo-absolute-position (which is lost after the first switch of). Most of the motion controllers have a mode, just after switch on, in which the controller search for the Index. This mode is called Homing.
2. Velocity. It's very simple. You sample the position with a fix sampling clock. Let's say: 10kHz. The speed is: (Actual Position - Previous Position) / Sampling Period. Pos[n] = 10.000inc, Pos[n-1] = 9.900inc. Speed = 10.000 - 9.900 / (1/10kHz) = 1.000.000 inc/sec. If one increment is 0.0001mm then the speed is 100mm/sec.

I have an apple id and it has my current email attached to it. however when i go to update apps it's asking for the password for an old email. I no longer have the old email and can't use it. when I go to icloud on my ipad it asks for the password for old email. it doesn't allow me to change the old email to current. when i go to reset it i can't remember the password or security questions for the old email so it doesn't let me go any further. How do I fix this? Do i need to call apple support?

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

questions to add to my requirements. I am still a beginner in this
but I need to ask questions.
Can anyone give me tips? what basic / important questions?

For starters,
DO:
Ask them to discuss what they want to do with the application
Try to understand their level of computer literacy
Keep your conversation non-technical
Continue to interact with the users during the design and
development process
Try to identify a "champion" with whom you can interface as the
project progresses
DON'T:
Use technical terms or discuss technical issues
Talk down to them
Promise delivery dates until you have documented their

If you would like to export your PDF files to MS Word files then ExportPDF tool will do the job.
If you would like to convert MS Word files to PDF then ConvertPDF tool will the the job.
If you would like to export your PDF files to Word file then convert the Word files back to PDF then PDF Pack service is required which includes ExportPDF/Convert to PDF/Combine Files tools.

Hey there,
two questions for the october release update:
1. We often use filmconvert in our workflow. Is it possible to send a sequence via Direct Link to SpeedGrade and keep and see the effect?
2. Can I send a sequence with some AfterEffects Dynamic Link pieces in it to SpeedGrade to grade the project or will the connection get lost?

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Try changing the security on the router. Start with no securty as a test.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.

Encoding question for iPhone

For some time now, we have exported our sermons for the iPod, and they work fine on iPods. But when we try to encode at a larger size for the iPhone or iPhone Touch, it doesn't work.
Export from FCE using MPEG-4, File format MP4 (not ISMA), Video Format H.264, Data Rate 60, Image Size 320 x 180 (we use 16:9), Frame Rate 15, Key Frame Automatic, Restrict Profile to Baseline, Encoding Best Quality (two pass).
Audio AAC-LC (Music), Data Rate 48, Mono, 44.100 kHz, Encoding Quality Best.
This plays on the iPod.
But doing the same thing with a data rate of 200, image size of 480 x 270, fps 29.97 the sound plays but the video does not play on the iPhone.
We don't want to use the default iPhone setting, because that gives us no control over the aspect ratio or the data rate.
Suggestions?

OK, now a slightly different question.
I thought that the iPhone was supposed to play .mov files, but when we compress the video using QT Conversion as a .mov file, the iPhone says this format is not supported. Here's what we're doing:
Export from FCE using QuickTime conversion:
Video settings: H.264, 29.97 fps, Key Frames Automatic, Restrict to 204 kbps, optimized for download, Frame reordering checked, Encoding Best Quality, size 484 x 272.
Sound settings: AAC, Mono, 44.100 kHz, Render Quality Best, VBR Constrained, 48-54, kbps.
Prepare for Internet Streaming checked, Fast Start, Compressed Header.

Question for the G5 Users Out There

Hello All,
This is rather a simple question. I am pondering the possibility of setting up a G5 system for simple editing. Nothing huge and taxing. I promise this is not a question about how to work with Raw 4k files or uncompressed HD files. I'm just the easy stuff, so as I could keep the stronger systems for the bigger work.
I have only had a short time of experience doing edits on a G5. The studio I work at had a G5 dual 2.5ghz and was running the Production Suite, FCP 4.5. The very short amount of time I used it, I was learning FCP, and did very simple DV edits. So I never gave it a good work out. We promptly uprgraded to Studio 1 and a Xeon Machine. So like I said, my experience is limited in the G5 world.
Here is my question. I know that many of you are still using G5's as very active parts of your work. So I am asking what your setups are and what versions of Final Cut are you running? What limitations do you experience, or for that matter, what limitations do you not experience that Apple or others say you should?
I am very much a fan of using what you need and I know that the G5 systems are still very capable of doing a great deal of work and doing it well. So, if anyone feels like chiming in, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

I still use my Dual 2.0Ghz G5...and for the semi-big stuff...DVCPRO HD. I have a MacPro 3.0 Octo with a Kona 3 at my office...running FCP 6.0.4. And then at home I have the G5 ALSO running FCP 6.0.4, and sporting a Kona LH. I do uncompressed SD work, DVCPRO HD work, Pro Res editing (footage captured on the MacPro). Still a very good viable system. The biggest difference is render times and encoding with compressor. That is where I REALLY feel it. But day to day editing...no issues. And I swap projects back and forth all the time. Both machines running leopard too.
