Endnote Links in My PDF Don't Work Appropriately

I have a PDF with endnotes (at the end of chapters/sections rather than at the end of the document). When I click on the endnote superscripts, I am taken to the very end of the document rather than the correct page at the end of the section.
The links work fine in the Word file the PDF is based on.
What could be wrong?

Did you have the Adobe PDF printer attached when editing the WORD file? Did you do the conversion with PDF Maker or some other way? You left a bit of information out.

  • When I convert a doc with hyperlinks into a PDF on a Mac links in the PDF don't work

Hey guys, please advise how to make a PDF on a Mac so that hyperlinks from the original file remain active and working in the PDF document? The links which look like a web address (http://www....) are converted correctly and open fine, but when a hyperlink is tied up to some piece of text (e.g., Watch on Youtube - and you can click on this phrase and the video opens) this link in a PDF file does not work, although it does in the original Word/PPT document.
When I make a PDF on a PC everything's fine: I can click on a link in the PDF and the website opens. But when I make the same operation on a Mac the links do not work...

There have been some methods posted by MAC users to address this issue. The MAC does not have the PDF Maker option that is available for the PC and so extra steps are needed. Sorry, but I do not know the process but would just suggest that you search the forum.

  • Links in object states don't work

I have an object state with several text boxes, hyperlinks and buttons works fine, UNTIL i create buttons to control the object states appearance. Then the integrated links in the mso don't work.
Have tried with new document, new folio etc. As soon as I delete buttons to control the mso, the links works perfect. HELP please

    Hi,
You can solve this problem putting the buttom outside the MSO. And recreate the links inside the MSO.

This is an open forum, not Adobe support... You need Adobe support to cancel a subscription

  • I continue to have problems with links in email, they don't  Work.

I continue to have problems with links in email, they don't work. When I called apple support she said to hard boot by holding off and home keys and restart. However this is only since the new release of the operating system,  it happens ever day and it's getting OLD.. Any solutions?

Yes, almost daily since the iOS update. Is there a permanent solution. And does the hard reboot hurt the iPad?

  • Click url links from email (thunderbird) don't work.

click url links embedded in email don't work. I tried the "fix" to go to thunderbird (email account) and follow tools-options-...but when I got to "advanced" it would not click. Clearing the "cache" seems to be important, but I'm not even sure that's the problem. It started to develop after I upgraded some add-on movie-audio feature to firefox. So, I suspect there is some incompatibility there. Please help.

Since posting, I figured it out with a google search - to simply find a way to identify firefox as my "Default browser" - apparently, any time you update windows or do add-ons from Bill Gates, he makes your computer take IE the default browser - so the clicking doesn't work from email on firefox. So, I went into the control panel for "default programs" and clicked again to make Firefox the one, re-booted and everything works fine now. I suspect that many people will find this approach very helpful when they get frustrated with the same problem. Thanks google!

  • Some links look clickable but don't work - Word 2010 with Acrobat PDF creation

    Windows 7
    Latest Acrobat subscription
Word - Office home and student 2010
I can create PDFs via Acrobat and Word on Windows 7,  but after editing the PDF with Acrobat on Mavericks OS X, only in-document links remain clickable. External web hyperlinks, both exposed URLs and blue text with URLs hidden under link text do not work in the PDFs that are edited on MacOS. They look like they work, because in the PDFs the hand cursor appears and you can click the links, but nothing happens in the browser.
I can't find any troubleshooting information about this.
    My process:
Word: Options: Advanced - remove check in "use ctrl-click to follow hyperlinks"
Convert file using the Acrobat tab in the Word ribbon.
    Set compatibility to Acrobat 8
    Create PDF (icon)
    Click Options
    Check "create bookmarks"
    Convert Word Headings to Bookmarks
    Accept defaults, which are:
    Convert document information
    Enable Accessiblity
    Reflow the tagged Adobe PDF.
The PDF is converted. Links all seem to work as expected.
Take the PDF to MacOS Mavericks, add pages, optimize, using Acrobat on MacOS.
Afterward, only some kinds of links in the PDF work.
This is a new problem that seemed to start when I recently began to use Acrobat's subscription version on Windows instead of FoxIt to convert the Word docs on Windows.
Q: Is this a known limitation that MacOS Acrobat creates unusable links despite the initial PDF conversion being done on Windows Acrobat?
Q: Should I do something additional so that external links remain clickable after processing on MacOs?
    Thanks for any clues.

    Thanks for your reply.
After some experimentation, it seems that the place where *some* links stop working is when I take a PDF file from Windows and optimize it on MacOS with Mac Acrobat Pro. All the links work *except* the kind where the URL is hidden behind blue underlined text. These look like they work but when you click them nothing happens.
So to fix it, I think I need to optimize the PDFs on Windows Acrobat Pro.
The MacOs Acrobat Pro, which I paid many hundreds of dollars for is therefore completely useless for documents with this kind of normal hypertext link.
Also, Windows Acrobat Pro is required in order to ensure that table-of-contents links made in Word (MacOS) continue to work in the PDF. The trick there is to regenerate the TOC on Windows Word before using CreatePDF to convert it.
I hope someone else benefits from this insight, because I wasted weeks of my life trying to troubleshoot this undocumented problem.

  • Links in PDF don't work on Mac conversion?

I am working with Word 2011 on a Mac.
My document has linked TOC and many internal links and cross references.
When I convert to PDF, NONE of the work, whether I use "Save As PDF," Distiller, or Acrobat XI Pro...
    Is this a known limitation?
    Is there ANY workaround?
Or is Windows my only option to make the links in my PDF work the same as in my Word document?

If you use the MS add on for saving to PDF you might get the links. I use a PC, but as I understand it the PDF Maker that adds the links does not work on the MAC and never has. One MAC user (Phillip Jones) typically drops by and provides some insight into methods for getting the links, but I don't remember the solution (probably because I did not totally understand the solution as a PC user).

  • Custom URL links in PDF don't work.

I have registered custom xyz: protocol handler in Windows.
Creating a hyperlink in MS Word and clicking it works OK – my handler app gets invoked.
Saving Word document as PDF used to work (somewhat – by passing URL to the default browser).
    Recently it stopped working altogether.
Questions: where should I look for recent changes? In registry? Some configuration / setting in Adobe Reader UI?
And most importantly – can I create a hyperlink  to my custom protocol that will NOT involve the default browser (as Chrome, for example, gets lost)?

    Here is what I do.
    1. Register txt: protocol with Windows to open Notepad.exe, with this txt.reg file:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\txt]
    @="URL:txt Protocol"
    "URL Protocol"=""
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\txt\shell]
    @="open"
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\txt\shell\open]
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\txt\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Windows\\System32\\notepad.exe\" \"%1\""
    2. Create MS Word document with two hyperlinks:
    yahoo – linked to http://www.yahoo.com/
    txt – linked to txt://test
    3. “Save as…” this document as PDF, default options.
After that, open saved PDF in Adobe Reader, click on each link.
Clicking “yahoo” opens your default browser and navigates to yahoo.com.
Clicking “txt” has no visible effect.
Expected: open Notebook.exe and attempt to open specified file.
Note: that txt link works OK if clicked in the Word.
Also, the custom links used to work in the past in Adobe Reader as well.
I am looking for two things:
    1. What could I change in the process of saving PDF or in Adobe settings to make this work again?
    2. Is there a way to specify hyperlink in PDF to a custom protocol handler and NOT have it go through the default browser?
    Thank you,
    Vlad

  • Hyperlinks in pdf don't work

    Hi.
I create pdfs with hyperlinks in adobe indesign 5.5.
The created Hyperlinks refer to other pdf documents and still work,
but if I open the same pdf Files with another computer,
    the links don't work.
I don't know why hyperlinks don't work on the other computer.
    Any ideas?
Both Acrobat Versions have the ability to use and open linked documents.
It seems to be a general problem from acrobat.
    Thanks!

If you create a link in Acrobat to another PDF file in the same folder or in a subfolder of the source PDF's location, the link destination will always specify only the filename (and optional subfolder), not the absolute path. Provided those two files/folders are moved together, the link will always work.
    EG:
    "Index.pdf" in folder  "C:\Writing\Novels\MyBook"
    "chapter.pdf" in "C:\Writing\Novels\MyBook\Chapters"
Linking from "index.pdf" to "chapter.pdf", the filespec attribute of the link will be "Chapters/chapter.pdf".
Copying the entire "MyBook" or "Novels" folder and subfolders to another computer, CD, etc. the link will work as normal.

  • After uninstalling Google Chrome links in e-mail don't work any more

I have Firefox on my computer. I wanted to try out Chrome. After uninstalling Chrome and reinstating Firefox as my default browser, several things don't work properly, especially links in emails. I tried suggested solution of changing registry key for .html from ChromeHTML to htmlfile or FirefoxHTML but neither works. I just want to be able to click the link and open up the relevant web page.

As someone else has this problem I reply to my own question. Only uninstallling and reinstalling Firefox cures the problem.

  • Links to web gallery don't work from blog preview

I used the idea by somebody in this forum (sorry, forgot who!) to have a blog with each entry linking directly to the various different view options of the .mac web gallery, like this:
    http://web.mac.com/kazazi/PiNoProductions/Photos/Entries/2007/9/1September2007.html
However, now the links don't work anymore from the blog preview, because the #and & characters in the web gallery's url get scrambled.
Does anybody know why this is or how I can fix this?

i have the same problem. has anyone fixed this?

  • Pdf links inside another Pdf doesn't work

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Pdf Reader X(10.1.0). I am creating a PDF with html links embedded in it.
Links to normal files works properly (Like server/idcontent/new/ir.html)
But links to another pdf file doesn't work(Like server/idcontent/new/ir.pdf). When clicked on a .pdf link nothing happens. But where as other links works perfectly.
Can any one help me whether I am missing any setting in my Adobe Reader.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ravi.

How exactly are you creating these files?

  • Links in blog summary don't work

    Hi,
Ever since I upgraded to iLife '08 any links that I post in my blog page don't work in the summary (or RSS feed). For some reason when iWeb creates the summary it changes the links. For instance a web gallery link may end in gallery#10005 and the summary link changes it to something like gallery%2516278 and as a result .Mac gives you a "can't find your page" page.
This very frustrating as there seems to be no way to fix the links in the summary (as it is created automatically). Does anyone else have this problem or know what might be going on here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did it happen only on those three entries or was it happening with new posts as well? (I had a harddrive failure and had to rebuild the site a while back so I think I have recreated the blog in iWeb '08.)
The fact that this is happening in my new posts is baffling.

  • Links in published website don't work.

The majority of links in my published website (both online and when published to a folder) won't work. However, unpublished they work fine. The navigation bar and picture links fail, except for the first two pages. I've checked to make sure the links are forwarded to the front.
    http://web.mac.com/melaniermaxwell
    Any thoughts?

Ok, I checked that one and it didn't work for me too.
    So these are my thoughts:
-I think you protected your photos by putting a textfield or a shape in front of the photos and that one is covering the links and that's why they don't work. If you didn't protect them you might however have something in front of the links. Move it a bit downward so that it is on the photo put not on the links or delete it.
-There aren't any other photos to link to and that's why they are disabled.
However I think it's the first one because I get a strange highlighted area when I try to highlight.
If it's none if these I'm out of ideas, sorry! Maybe someone else has some more...
    Regards,
    Cédric
