Enfocus PitStop

This may be helpful to other users.
When I did the full install of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended it did not save my Enfocus plug-in directory in the Acrobat plug-in directory. Fortunately I had a copy of the Enfocus plug-in directory and found that it could be installed simply by pasting it in the new plug-in directory.
So before instaling this new version of Acrobat be sure to save plgu-ins that you may have added. This may not work for other programs but it did for Enfocus
Howard

We are using Enfocus Pitstop 7.1 in conjunction with Adobe Acrobat 8.0. When changing from one color swatch to a new SPOT color swatch, the new swatch is screened instead of 100% density as it is supposed to be. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, found a resolution to the problem?
Also, new SPOT color swatches from the pitstop color library are assigned in RGB color mode and we prefer CMYK color mode. Has anyone found where this can be changed in the preferences?

I work with Acrobat 9.4.3. on Mac OS 10.5.8 with Enfocus Pitstop Pro 10, Update 1st
Acrobat crashes almost every time I open a document and try to make corrections by using Pitstop Pro. Some of my colleagues have the same problem. Is anyone else having this problem? Are these programs more stable on the PC?

if I update the Airport to the latest version, and "control" it with my MacBook Pro, will the older G4 still be able to use the signal from the new Airport?
Yes. Your G4 shouldn't have any difficulty connecting to a Wi-Fi network provided by the latest 802.11ac AirPorts as they support the earlier radio modes that the G4 uses.

  • Enfocus Pitstop and Quite Imposing 2

Ive been searching the web for over a year now and still i havent been able to find anything about a problem im having with these 2 plugins.
    The problem is pretty clear:
Whenever i use nearly any pitstop action from the action list, Acrobat will crash when i use a quite imposing action. For example: Ill use the action list to convert the colors and after thal ill try to multi-up with quite imposing step and repeat. It will process the action, but Acrobat crashes after its done.
This has been happening since we got pitstop 8.0. We didnt have this problem with any versions before that.
Ive been trying to get in touch with the people from Quite Imposing but without succes. According to their site they know about the problem and they are looking into it. But like i said earlier, its been over a year now and i cant believe we (the company where i work) are the only ones having a lot of problems with this.
So, if anyone knows about the problem and has ANY tips or solutions, however small they are, please post.
    Thx in advance

    Hi All,
Yes Aandi is MIA (He's on Holiday). Now we haven't seen it crash people before but we have see actions go away.
Check on Pitstop: In version 7 there was an option
"Speed up image display". If this option was ON, then there could be
problems in Acrobat and plug-ins (changes would sometimes be lost). It is worth
checking whether this option still has that effect in Acrobat 8.
If not - can you give us some steps to follow with your file which
show a particular problem? Send file if possible.
If you, or anyone out there ever needs to get intouch with us just email us at [email protected]
I see it here in the States and Aandi sees in in the UK so we both can answer.
If you need to chat give me a ring.
    cheers,

  • Enfocus Pitstop - pdf fails on resolution but shouldn't - any ideas?

I've set a Pitstop profile to fail any pdf containing images lower than 298 dpi, but it's failing a pdf on an image that is 300 dpi, I've opened the pdf in Acrobat with Pitstop Pro plugin and checked - the resolution is  300 dpi, I can't work out why it's failing, has anyone come across this before?

That would be the sensible thing to do - thanks!!

Another problem is I can't view the PDF file in IE anymore after that. I guess the problem comes from the PitStop. But I want to use this plug-in. Anybody has solution? Thanks in advance.
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

    PitStop Pro 10

I already found the cause for the problem. I update Enfocus PitStop Pro from 10 to update 1. The problem does't come again. I guess it's because of this plug-in.

  • Installing Acrobat XI Pro - will it still be able be use Pitstop?

Hi, i am about to install Acrobat XI Pro from Acrobat 9 Pro of which i have Enfocus PitStop Pro 09, update 3.
When i update will i still be able to use the Pitstop Pro, reluctant to do so without knowing, thank you

It's unlikely it will work. It's definitely not officially supported.
PitStop 9 had support for Acrobat 8 and 9, so with the Acrobat interface change in Acrobat X I think you will run into problems.
You can find the actual PitStop system requirements here.
    http://www.enfocus.com/en/support/knowledge-base/pitstop-pro-system-requirements/
You can always contact Enfocus support on '[email protected]' and ask them directly.
PitStop 12 is the latest version which has support for Acrobat 9, X and XI as well as the latest operating systems.

  • How to check word space in a pdf file?

hi, i need to check the word space in a pdf file.
if the the space between any two words exceeds 6pt i should be get alerted.
also such events should be displayed as a log file.
is there any possibilites to check the above criteria in adobe professional or its supporting tools such as enfocus pitstop professional?
    if anyone knows please answer.
    ramsankar

If it can be checked it would be with PreFlight or PitStop. However, because of the structure I doubt that it can be done. Spacing and such aspects of word processing are really not part of a PDF. The PDF should be a duplicate of your word processing file and if it is correct there, then the PDF should be fine. However, it sounds like you are doing a check for paper submissions or such. In that case I understand your interest, but still doubt that it can be done. Hopefully others may drop by with a more favorable answer.

  • Please HELP I need to resize a PDF I have Professional 7

I was given a PDF 4" inches tall by 6" inches long.   All I had to do is to increase the size to 5 and 1/8"  inches tall x 8 and 3/4" long.  I do not have access to the original file that created this PDF. So I was hoping that anyone would know if Professional 7 Arobat could help resixe the pdf.  The customer is all over me right now and time is running short.
Any help would be so appricated.

First things first. You cannot change the  4 by 6 pdf file to 5 1/8 by 8 3/4 by scaling uniformly on both axes. You will distort the content of the file.
Second, Acrobat can change the 4 by 6 pdf file to 5 1/8 by 8 3/4 without distortion using the crop tool, however that will not change the viewable content in any meaningful way.
One question I have is why??? If the purpose is to print the file at a larger size, then you can set the page size of the paper to 5 1/8 by 8 3/4 and ask Acrobat when printing the file to scale the file. It will print the file to the best fit on that size paper. If the purpose is to see the pdf file better, Acrobat supports zooming.
If you want to import the pdf file into another program for use almost any such program will support scaling the pdf file. So the question I have is what exactly to you want to change and why? Since it is not you who needs the file changed, I'd recommend asking the customer so that we can better estiimate what you need done.
Scaling can be done in a raster image program like Photoshop or Graphic converter at a cost of size and quality. If the original pdf file is a raster image file, then that may or may not be a problem depending upon the resolution of the original graphic file. If the file is a vector graphic file, then Illustrator may indeed be a better choice.
Quite a Back of Tricks and Enfocus Pitstop will also allow you to scale your pdf files as well. These very specifically are pdf editing tools that will do much more than scale pdf files.

  • Can you edit the text of a PDF that is placed in inDesign

I have placed a PDF in inDesign and am curious if I can edit the text of that PDF while in inDesign.

Edit it with Adobe Acrobat Pro, indesign can't. Option for Indesign is:
of course overlay text with new text
There is specialized software for editing PDF files, though the choices are much more limited and often more expensive than creating and editing standard editable document formats. Version 0.46 and later of Inkscape allows PDF editing through an intermediate translation step involving Poppler.
Serif PagePlus can open, edit and save existing PDF documents, as well as publishing of documents created in the package.
Enfocus PitStop Pro, a plugin for Acrobat, allows manual and automatic editing of PDF files, while the free Enfocus Browser makes it possible to edit the low-level structure of a PDF.
In Acrobat you should use the TouchUp Text Tool.
But in the end, PDF-files are not made for editing.

  • [CC][AS] Font errrors in pdf files exported from Indesign

    Hi,
With this post I would like to ask for some advice on a problem I'm having exporting Indesign files to PDF using Applescript.
I have a lot of Indesign documents, related to one particular client. All documents need to be exported to highres PDF using a preset.
When I export a file to PDF manually, the resulting PDF file is ok. No errors are displayed when opening the pdf-file in Acrobat (full and reader).
When I export the same file, with the same pdf preset, using a Applescript, the resulting PDF-file shows an error in Acrobat when it's opened.
The message "Cannot extract the embedded font '....' Some characters may not display or print correctly'.
I have this issue in Indesign CS 5.5, CS6 and CC. When trying it on a larger scale, 90% of all documents have this issue. When doing it manually, all resulting pdf-files are fine. I've double checked this with Enfocus Pitstop. All reports are fine.
    The Applescript code I'm using...
    tell active document
export format PDF type to myFilePath using "SheetCmyk_1v4_IND4" without showing options
    end tell
... pretty basic code ... I've tried placing it in a try/catch block, but no error or exception is trown.
The font refered to in the messagebox, varies from document to document...
All fonts are present the document. No fonts are missing. I've cleared all font caches, multiple times, with no luck. All fonts are checked and are not corrupt or damaged. The Os x version i'm using is 10.8
Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this issue?
    Thanx

    Hi,
I've did a lot of test and changing the subset settings didn't solve anything.
I was able to create a temporarily fix for the problem. Every time a file has to be processed, I quit and relaunch Indesign. By doing so, I lose 80% performance because it takes longer to quit and  relaunch the app, then to create the PDF-file. I went from a 3 second processing time, to 10 seconds, every time...
I think a cache problem could be the reason.
Does anyone know if you can clear the application cache using scripting, without quitting the Indesign app ?
    Thanx
    John

  • How to resolve "Your Trial Has Expired" message when launching InDesign CS6

Hello, just joined the Creative Cloud via the "Free" option.  The Adobe Application Manager downloaded and installed after which I was presented the list of Adobe Products which I could "Try" for the 30-day trial period.  After installing InDesign CS6 for trial, I'm getting a "Your Trial has Expired" message when I launch InDesign C6.
My PC environment is: Windows 7 Pro - SP1 (x64 bit)
I do have Adobe Acrobat X installed (with Enfocus PitStop v10 plugin)
Any thoughts as to what is causing this error??
    How do I resolve it??

    Hi MickyRatz,
If the trial version indicates as being expired then it has expired. There is no way to extend the trial.
You can find more details at Adobe trial software expired early -http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/trial-software-expired-early .html.

  • How to set Rulers ON as default?

I want rulers to show when I open a PDF file. Using Acrobat Pro v8. I know I can Ctrl +R to display rulers - but more often than not, I want rulers and would like them set as default on. Is there a way to do that? Couldn't find anywhere in Preferences. Thanks.

I'm half way through manipulating 350 PDF booklets for a client. Each time I open a file I have to CTRL+R to show the rulers... not a big deal - but do it 185 times and you start to think there has to be a better way to turn rulers on as a default!
Good luck Michael. If you find a way, post back here for the rest of us... I'll do the same.
    Bob
PS. Thank goodness for Enfocus Pitstop plugin! Allows you to do amazing things within Acrobat!

  • Acrobat 7.09 and 10.4.8

    Ok, so here's the scoop.
A few weeks ago I upgraded our OS to 10.4.8. We also installed some new software. Since the upgrade, Acrobat 7.09 quits on an irregular basis. I mean it doesn't quit on every file but at least 3 or 4 times and hour it will just quit. I've fixed permissions (I do it daily), deleted the preferences, read over Kurt Lang's font fixes and adjusted accordingly. As far as relatd software to Acrobat 7.09 - I use Suitcase Fusion for font management. As far As Acrobat 7 goes have Enfocus Pitstop 7 Professional as plug ins, Apogee X plug ins,and the standard Adobe ones. Pitstop and Apogee worked fine under 10.3.9, rarely did Acrobat crash. I've installed the latest update for Pitstop (7.01), but it doesn't seem to have helped.
    Any suggestions?

Resolved by pulling out plug ins one at a time until the culprit was discovered. It was a plug-in for acrobat that didn't like 10.4.8 (at the time). And updater has since been found and installed, and all is well.
