Engine time to start problem.

Hi,
I have this problem, when restart the ALBPM Enterprise Standalone version 6.0.3, this take a lot of time when start the engine, it is normal?
Somebody know how configurate the engine to take less time to start?
Thx.

Again, time to your login screen or fully operational desktop?
Just to help you calibrate:  I have an HP Elitebook 8560w as my work laptop (SSD and 16GB RAM).  It is just a bit slower that my MBP with an i7 2.3GHz processor (my MBP is an i7 2.5GHz processor) .  It takes about 90 seconds to get me to the point where it is actually useable (Windows 7 professional).
Your MacBook Pro is not as powerful as this machine, and it only takes 90 seconds.  I wouldn't worry.  BTW, it probably takes a bit longer now that you added more memory because it tests that memory on every boot.

    Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

    Do you have Parallels installed by any chance?  There is a known problem that causes symptoms similar to this.  You do not need to actually be running Parallels at the time and nothing in ActivityMonitor would point to Parallels.  An update corrects the problem:

  • Personalization Scheduling Engine does not start -- Bug?

    Hi there. I don't know if it's the correct forum to post my question. If I'm wrong I ask you to redirect to
    the correct one.
    I've correctly installed Oracle AS 10g release 1 according to the following topology, on the production
    environment :
    Server 1 --> Here we are three oracle homes : Identity Management , Middle Tier (Portal and Wireless) ,
    Personalization.
    Server 2 --> MetadataRepository
    My problem focuses on Personalization. I advise that in my developing environment I've not got any problem.
    So , I've installed Oracle AS Personalization without wornings. I've created RE,MOR and MTR schemas as the
    procedure dictates. Problem's that Personalization Scheduling Engine does not start. It should start
    automatically but It didn't. So I tried to start it by hand following "Oracle Application Server Hi there.
    I don't know if it's the correct forum to post my question. If I'm wrong I ask you to redirect to the
    correct one.
    I've correctly installed Oracle AS 10g release 1 according to the following topology, on the production

    Server 1 --> Here we are three oracle homes : Identity Management , Middle Tier (Portal and Wireless) ,
    Personalization.

    So , I've installed Oracle AS Personalization without wornings. I've created RE,MOR and MTR schemas as the
    procedure dictates. Problem's that Personalization Scheduling Engine does not start. It should start
    automatically but It didn't. So I tried to start it by hand following "Oracle Application Server
    Personalization Administrator's Guide 10g(9.0.4)". Specifically , when I try to start the scheduling engine
    with the command "execute OP_START_ENGINE" in the MOR schema I obtain an error linked to DBMS_JOB.run()
    method. Digging deep into the Oracle alert log file I found this brief linked to the error executin the
    script :
    Thu Apr 14 17:57:28 2005
    Errors in file E:\MetadataRepositoryHome\admin\asdb\udump\ORA01860.TRC:
    ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 119
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.Exception: Scheduler Workflow Error:
    9756161113494248343 java.lang.NumberFormatException: 9756161113494248343
    at java.lang.Long.parseLong(Long.java)
    at java.lang.Long.parseLong(Long.java)
    at oracle.dmt.op.util.messagelog.MessageLog.getExecutionContextID(MessageLog.java:857)
    at oracle.dmt.op.workflow.SchedulerWorkflowClass.main_method(SchedulerWorkflowClass.java:101)
    at oracle.dmt.op.workflow.SchedulerWorkflowClass.SchedulerWorkflowJava(SchedulerWorkflowClass.java:91)
    ORA-06512: at "MOR_PORTALE.DMT_CLIENT_IDARWIN_WORKFLOW", line 0
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    So as the main error is "NumberFormatException" , I executed reverse engineering decompiling two Oracle
    classes , just to know the origin of the error :
    oracle.dmt.op.util.messagelog.MessageLog and
    oracle.dmt.op.workflow.SchedulerWorkflowClass
    After simple tracing I think I reached the origin and I shocked myself to see it!! The problem starts in the
    main_method of oracle.dmt.op.workflow.SchedulerWorkflowClass, i.e. :
    private void main_method()
    throws Exception
    String event_msg_args[];
    traceMsg += "Start";
    moduleID = "SchedulerWorkflowClass.main_method";
    traceMsg += "-executionContextID";
    executionContextID = MessageLog.getExecutionContextID();
    The problem resides in the getExectiongContextID() method of oracle.dmt.op.util.messagelog.MessageLog class.
    Code of this method is this :
    public static long getExecutionContextID()
    String hostIP = null;
    try
    InetAddress host = InetAddress.getLocalHost();
    hostIP = host.getHostAddress();
    catch(UnknownHostException ex) { }
    StringBuffer buf = new StringBuffer(20);
    if(hostIP != null)
    for(StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(hostIP, "."); st.hasMoreTokens(); buf.append
    (st.nextToken()));
    buf.append((new Date()).getTime());
    String tmpString = buf.toString();
    String idString = tmpString.replace('?', ' ');
    idString = idString.trim();
    int len = idString.length();
    if(len > 19)
    idString = idString.substring(len - 19);
    long id = Long.parseLong(idString);
    return id;
    Simply , code obtains IP address of the Host , concats it with the current time and if the length of the
    result string is longer than 19 it obtains substring of (len -19) length!! I think , Oracle programmer
    thought to prevent NumberFormatException with the control "if(len > 19)
    idString = idString.substring(len - 19);"
    but that's strange , very strange!! In fact , in my case(with my IP Address 160.97.*.*) , method outputs
    NumberFormatExceptio 'couse long "id = Long.parseLong(idString);" is not able to convert the String
    "9756161113494248343" to java.lang.Long!!! 'couse it exceedes maximum value ( 2EXP(63)-1)!! So , I think
    it's bug but I don't know how to solve it!! Problem's in method's semantic. It should control that the
    String it creates is lower that the maximum value allowed for a long , not its length lower or equal 19!!!
    I mean , I cannot modify Oracle Java Class file.
    With kind regards,
    Nicola

  • Network Variable Engine in application started in autorun

    Using CVI 2009 SP1 I developed an application that uses Network Variable Engine:
    At the beginning of main I wait in a do-loop until the Variable Engine is running
    t_start = Timer();
    do {
    CNVVariableEngineIsRunning(&running);
    if (!running) {
    t_rem = 20.0 - (Timer() - t_start);
    if (t_rem > 0.) Sleep(100); //100 ms
    } while (!running && (t_rem > 0.));
     Then I create a buffered subscriber, previously checking that the process exists and is running
    CNVProcessExists (processName, &exists);
    if (!exists) {
    CNVNewProcess (processName);
    CNVProcessIsRunning (processName, &isRunning);
    if (!isRunning) {
    CNVStartProcess (processName);
    CNVCreateBufferedWriter (NetVarPathname, ConnTransferredCallback,
    ConnStatusCallback, NULL, 10, 10000, 0, bufferedWriter);
    This application works perfectly when I launch it as standalone application.
    But If I launch it at the Windows boot time through Start >> Programs >> Startup, CNVCreateBufferedWriter( ) returns -6337 (The network variable process was not found or is not responding).
    Does CNVStartProcess( ) need a delay time?
    How can I avoid this annoying error?

    As I write in the first message, the first function I call in my application is CNVVariableEngineIsRunning( ), then I wait until it returns "is running". Why does the NVE could still have not loaded after "is running" has been returned?
    A workaround for this problem and correct indicator of the availability of the process is to programmatically browse to the process:
    CNVBrowser browser;
    CNVCreateBrowser(&browser);
    CNVBrowse("\\\\localhost\\your-process-name");
    CNVDisposeBrowser(browser);
    If CNVBrowse succeeds, then the process is running. Please let us know if you run into issues with this workaround.
    Done. After this, I've never seen the error anymore... but I'll check again.

  • The engine failed to start before timeout. Restart the application (HDB 10005)

    Hi everyone,
    I experienced many times this type of error starting a SAP Lumira Document (version is 1.17, but even trying with the new version 1.19, right after the installation):
    "An Error Occured: Data Source creation failed .The engine failed to start before timeout. Restart the application. (HDB 10005)".
    I've already found (also in this community) some solutions, but they seems to me like temporary fixing, because sometimes I have to deal with this problem again. Can someone please explain me why this problem happens, and if a definitive fixing is in the works?
    Thank You.

    I am working on Lenovo Helix with Intel i5 processor and 4 GB of fixed memory. And before setting the virtual memory size (paging size) on my laptop it was switched off (no paging). So maybe this was the root cause of the issue for me.
    /Marcin

    ANI Server fails to start
    This problem occurs when you:
    Start ANI Server, the server is up for sometime and shuts down with RC as -2 and Info as ANI Server failed to load from the database.
    Workaround:
    Stop the Daemon Manager. Re-initialize ANI database and start the daemons.
    Enter the following command to reinitialize ANI database:
    /opt/CSCOpx/bin/perl /opt/CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
    You should not be using this interface to start any CiscoWorks services.  Your statup parameters look okay.  Either your ANI database is corrupt, or your transaction log is corrupt.
    First, set the CiscoWorks Daemon Manager service to Manual, and reboot the server.  When the server reboots, delete NMSROOT\databases\ani\ani.log if it exists.  Then run:
    NMSROOT\objects\db\win32\dbsrv9 -f NMSROOT\databases\ani\ani.db
    After that, set the Daemon Manager service back to Automatic, and reboot again.  See if the ANI database engine starts.  If not, you will need to reinitialize your ANI database with the command:
    NMSROOT\bin\perl NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
    /* Style Definitions */
    table.MsoNormalTable
    {mso-style-name:"Table Normal";

    font-family:"Times New Roman";
    mso-ansi-language:#0400;
    mso-fareast-language:#0400;
    mso-bidi-language:#0400;}
    We have done reinitializing:
    1. Delete NMSROOT\databases\ani\ani.log
    NMSROOT\objects\db\win32\dbsrv10 -f NMSROOT\databases\ani\ani.db
    After that done
    NMSROOT\bin\perl NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
    After reinitializing ANI database took 1 hour to start, output of  pdshow command was
    INFO: Daemon manager is processing other tasks in the queue. Please try again later.
    In RME there is another problem:
    JRM Service could be down. Check whether JRM services are running .
    Tried to resolve by reinitializingRME
    NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=rmeng dmprefix=RME
    But did not help.
    We are attaching some log files...
    Thanks in advance...

    You are most likely seeing a port conflict between LMS and the Windows RM service.  You can either shutdown the Windows Remote Management service, then restart Daemon Manager, or do the following:
    * Shutdown Daemon Manager
    * Remove ctmregistry* from NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/rme/WEB-INF/lib.
    * With Windows Remote Management still running, restart Daemon Manager, and EssentialsDM should skip tcp/47001 because it is already in use.

    One of the line says "SNC required for this connection". What does this mean? What else need to be done for JAVA to communicate with ABAP?
    Thanks,

  • Macbook Pro, bought 2012, takes a very long time to start up/restart (5 mins). How do I fix this?

    My Macbook Pro, bought 2012, takes a very long time to start up/restart (5 mins) every single time I have shut it down.  I try not to shut it down at all now because once or twice, I have got a grey screen, and then nothing. I've held down the power button to shut down again and restart  How do I fix all this?

    Start up with your built-in Recovery disk by holding down the Command and R keys when starting. Open Disk Utility from there and use it to REPAIR your disk (you've already verified it and it came up with errors).
    With any luck, your problems will be solved. While I was there, I would also repair  permissions.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

    Also it freezes in some of the Apps, so it make me to turn of.

  • MacBook Pro takes a long time to start up or hangs at gray apple logo after minor fall

    I upgraded to Mavericks a few days ago. Everything was working fine until yesterday, when my MacBook Pro started taking a really long time to start up or restart.
    Before upgrading I had some directory problems which I fixed with DiskWarrior. I then upgraded to Mavericks. There was also a fall that I took, which resulted in the MacBook Pro hitting on one corner and getting a minor dent (It was inside a padded messenger bag when I fell). It worked fine for a whole day, but the next day it started slowing down and getting stuck.
    I run DiskWarrior again and there was more directory problems, which were fixed again. When I start the MacBook Pro from an external HD with Mac OS X 10.8, there is no delay in starting up. When I switch to the internal HD, then I get very long delays (5-10min) or hangs at the gray apple logo screen.
    DiskUtility did not report any problems, neither did SMART report.
    Could it be that the HD got somewhat damaged and gets stuck intermittently? Is it possible to start up OK some times and others to get stuck?
    How can I check the HD? Shouldn't the SMART report indicate a problem?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my main work computer!
    Chris

    I think that my Mac was shutdown when it fell, but I am not 100% sure.
    I did perform both SMC and PRAM resets. I will also try to run maintenance scripts. Thanks for the suggestion.
    It keeps on taking around 10min to restart now, but it has not frozen yet.
    The other very strange thing that happens  (and this was the first sign I had when it started acting up) is that Mail.app cannot connect to my IMAP servers (a host provider and Google), even though my Mac connects to the internet. I have the MacBook Pro on the same ethernet network as my home iMac, and I get mail without a problem on the iMac! So something is blocking the mail on the MacBook Pro.
    This happened for the first time on Friday and after that I kept having the long delays in startup or freezes I mentioned before.
    Could those two be connected?
    When I use an external HD as as start up I can get mail fine.
