English.lproj Folder Lost from Mail Folder!

Hi there,
By mistake I deleted a folder called English.lproj from:
/Applications/Mail/Content/Resources
when I was trying to install a new stationary for Mail software.
The language of Mail right now is not English! is there any way to restore the original English.lproj Folder?
I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.1
Thanks in advance.

unless you have a entire backup of your hard drive, or you use time machine and have included the applications folder, then you would need to do a custom install to re-install that folder.
you may want to look at pacifist to do a custom install off of your leopard disk: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6812
hope this helps

  • All messages lost from Mail

My computer lead got caught and crashed my computer. When I re-opened Mail all my messages had disappeared. All settings are still there and I;m able to send and receive email without any problem, but all my archived email and trash mail have gone.
I'd really appreciated any help to try to resolve this and get my mail back.

Try deleting the account and then add it back.

  • English.lproj and en_US.lproj files (why en_US strings file isn't used ?)

Hi, my project has a localization.strings file in the English.lproj folder as well as the en_US folder.
My phone and sim settings are "English" for language and "United States" for region (and NSLocaleIdentifier has a value of English (United States)
However, when I run my app, it always reads strings from the English localization.strings file and not from the en_US version.
Does anyone know why the English.lproj strings are picked up instead of en_US.lproj strings ?

has anyone used different strings files for en_US and English ?

  • Reinstall English language erroneously removed from application

While using the Applications "Get info" window to remove unwanted languages from various Applications ( to save disk space) I erroneously removed "English". I rescued the English files from the trash, but don't know how to reinstall them into the "Preview" application I removed them from. Thank You for any assistance.

I appreciate the time spent by all of the posters. I haven’t been able to get the app. fully back to english. With the exception of the “Preview” app’s title in the menu bar the title on the app’s icon in the apps. folder and one item under the Preview Menu bar’s “Edit” menu,
everything is in english (I have the previous in Spanish which I do not speak) but I can deal with that . I was able to control click the Preview app. folder as suggested by poster Francine Schwieder and manually drag the English.lproj folder into it .
In doing so I found that I had already placed a copy of that folder into the Apps. package by pasting the (sudo mv ~/Desktop/English.lproj/ /Applications/Preview.app/Contents/Resources/) command suggeted by Gnarlodious; so I checked both folders against each other and pulled one out and tried Restarting. I then opened the Apps “Get info” window to see if English was now listed as an option, it was not.
On a followup post by Gnalidious it was suggested that I delete (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist) which I have done but still have the condition per para. 1 above. It seems that whatever instruction is needed to allow the English language option to be listed in the “Get info” window so as I can choose it isn’t happening. Excuse long response...want to give posters as much info as poss.

I have lost my mail application on the dock and in the application folder. Is a download available for osx 10.6?

Possibly installing the big 10.5.8 Combo will bring it back, but first...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    1058 Combo Update, 10.5.8...

    Repair Permissions afterwords, reboot.

  • Help ! Can't replace file in file folder with same file from mail

After migrating from Mountain Lion to Mavericks, everytime I want to save attachment file from mail to file folder that has same file name, after clicking "Replace", the attachment file doesn't replace the old one.
This problem didn't exist, after migrating from Lion to Mountain Lion.
What should I do to fix it ?
    Thanks.

The best thing to do is to move the search and replace functionality to before the string coming out of the file is changed into an array. Do it there and all you need is 2 instances of the Search and Replace String function. One replaces all the "/" with "-" and one changes all the "." to ",".

  • In plain English can someone tell me how to use the unsubscribe button or get it to show up in the "unsubscribe from mailing list" ad-on?

There's nothing to detail it doesn't work.

    In plain English.
If the unsubscribe header the add-on uses is present it shows up in the mail header along with the from Subject to etc. With or Without the add-on. So if there is no entry in the header, then the mail sender does not support that style of unsubscribing. In the United States unsubscribing from a mailing list is troublesome as legislators are either are unable or unwilling to understand the problem. Given the amounts of money involved I will go with the latter.
Any difficulties you have with the actual add-on need to be dealt with by the add-on author The download page list a support link. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/unsubscribe-from-mailing-list/?src=search

  • I inadvertently removed the junk mailbox from Mail.app in SL, how can I recreate / restore it ?

    Hi,
Well, the title says it all : I inadvertently removed the junk mailbox from Mail.app in SL,
it still is spresent in my ~/library/mail folder, how can I recreate / restore it in mail.app ?
Since I have a fair number of email accounts, intelligent mailboxes, rules and archive folder, I really don't want to rebuild everything. And, no, I can't use time machine to restore it.
All help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi AdamKB, sorry for late follow-up.
What I lost is the "container" that groups all junk mailboxes in one place in Mail, like is done for all the inboxes.
The problem is that I lost visibility on all junk mailboxes. It is only a visibility problem because the junk mailboxes are still present locally for my POP accounts and remotely for may IMAP accounts, I justdon't see them anymore in Mail's interface.

  • Location of User Template - English.lproj for AD Plugin

When OSX creates accounts on a local machine, it pulls the default set of account folders (/Library, /Pictures, /Music, etc) from /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/... This is an excellent way to pre-configure new user accounts with specific prefs, etc.
When setting up the AD plugin to authenticate from an AD server, one checks the "Use UNC path from Active Directory to derive network home location" button to have the users' home folder mounted as a sharepoint from whatever is specified in the AD for the user. This works as expected for both WIN and OSX users.
    BUT
New users' home folders (empty) are populated with a /Library folder which does not come from /System/Library/User Template/English.lproj/...
Can anybody point me to 'real' location of these template files?

  • Some emails missing from Mail InBox

All emails received in Mail, version 3.6 (936) between 6:57pm 8 August and 6:15pm 10 August (around 30 messages) have disappeared from my Inbox at some time in the afternoon of 10 August. (I don't suspect the timings are significant, I'm just being specific.) I did not delete them, accidentally or otherwise. They have not moved to any other folder. Account type is POP.
I have followed all recovery procedures listed at: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1907, but nothing has worked. The messages were still on my ISPs server so I have been able to retrieve them on my MacBook.
    Questions:
    • Is there any known reason for this problem?
    • Any way to prevent it recurring?
    • Is there some way I can retrieve the lost messages from my ISP into Mail on my iMac?
    • Is there any way to import only the missing messages into Mail on my iMac from Mail on my MacBook?
    • How can I inform Apple of this problem by email?

Ok....now when I reply to something from my Mail....my phone is sending another reply to the recipient...except blank. Grrrr.

  • STORING E-MAILS AWAY FROM .mail

I want to change my ISP but realise that if I do so I will lose all my e-mails. I have been using Mac's .mail for at least three years and have nearly 10,000 e-mails on my G4 PowerBook. (I know this sounds like madness) I have backed everything up on an Iomega external HD, but this will not prevent loss of e-mails) I search these e-mails constantly and do not want to lose any of them. I do not mind how long the process takes, but how can I shift ALL of them? Is there a way in which I can purchase a domain name and do it this way? Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thankyou.

    That's good news - I think we're getting somewhere!
The thread I actually meant was this one:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2366136&tstart=0
I was suggesting you follow the advice given by bdaqua since it seemed to work for the original poster who was having problems very like yours. However I can't vouch for any of this so I would advise you to proceed with caution and at very least first make a copy of that "Mail" folder as described in the Apple support document before you do anything you're not sure of.
In fact before you do any of that I would suggest that you try this.
Download "Thunderbird" - it's a free e-mail program from Mozilla who make the Firefox web browser and are a trustworthy source. Here's the link:
    http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/
Once you have installed it it will allow you to import e-mails from Apple's "Mail" application.
If it does so successfully and you can set it up you may just want to stick with it.
(Personally I've never got on with "Mail" but that's maybe just me!)
You can't download "Mail" you would need to reinstall from your original OSX disc and then almost certainly replace your e-mails from the backed-up original folder.
So in summary here's my advice in order of preference:
    1) Download "Thunderbird" and import from "Mail" - see how you like it. If you're OK with it stop right here! If you're still wedded to using "Mail" then continue....
    2) Back up your Mail folder in the Library. (did you ever sort out your Iomega drive I wonder??)
    3) If you feel up to it try the bdaqua solution - if it works you can then try reverting to "Mail" if you prefer it.
Above all now that we have established that your messages aren't lost BACK UP THE MAIL FOLDER!!!!!

  • I have lost the mail icon....

I have lost the mail icon, and have downloaded the fix from apple but the icon is still not visible and I can't find it on my pc, and I therefore cannot access or send any mail from my macbook pro.Any suggestions to get the icon and mail back onto my pc?

Many thanks for all your assistance.  I have downloaded the link you gave, but I have also used the install disks for the pc, and although the icon now appears in the Application folder, it still gives me the error message "You have Mail version 4.2 (1078/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 (Build 10K549). "   and does not open the mail.
Having downloaded the link and also installed from the disks that came with my pc, and restarted the pc a few times, I still cannot open the mail.
    Any ideas?

  • ICloud mail not working, lost all mail.

    hello,
i have this new problem which i can not figure out so i am asking for your help.
    the situation is as follows:
i own a .mac account since day 1. and moved to icloud. so did my wife. all worked fine till i decided to update her iphone to ios6 i think.
today she send me an email which i received on my ipad. the notification on my ipad said an email was received from my name. checked the email and the email was my wifes email, but with my name.
went to iclouds on ther prefs pane and saw that it was under my name but i could not change it.
went to apple id and change the name under her apple id to her name and everything changed under hers.
but mail app got all srewed up.
i have lost all her emails and the only thing i get is an inbox and the sent folder.
her web mail and iphone have all folders and emails so they are not lost from the server.
i can not seem to be able to connect the macbook to the icloud server.
i log out from her apple id, and icloud. relog but mail will not sync with icloud and give an error in the pref pane window of icloud. it sais that icloud would not be enabled and go to mail and add the account from there.
i try to do it and when i go to add the account the account is already there. the icon on the left in the accounts list shows the icloud icon with mobile me title and icloud imap description.
the details in the account are correct and already filled in and locked. the server is p01-imap.mail.me.com
i send an email from my account to my wifes email. her iphone received the email from my name to my name (yes my name) but under her email address since she received it. on the macbook the email never arrived.
if i delete the account in the mail app i will get all fields locked but only the alias pull down menu with her email address with the @mac, @ me and @icloud alias.
enabling and disabling the acount will not add an icon to the left. enabling will fill in the locked fields. but do not really make mail work.
quiting mail and reopoening will create an icloud account like before....all in a loop and it gts me really mad!
i can not describe the problem any better since i do not understand what is going on.
    macbook is on lion.
    pleasseeeeee heeeellllpppp
or to put things on simpler note, mail will not enable/sync with iclouds.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 5 iOS 6. Message reads "The latest backup could not be completed." I have tried about 10 times, both auto and manual syncs. The progress bar progresses about 1%, stays there for about 5-10 minutes then the message appears. To rule out the possibility of a wireless signal problem, I did an iCloud backup on my wife's iPad (iOS 5.1.1) and my iPad II (iOS 6) and had no problems. I can't understand why my iPhone 5 has the problem and not my other devices. Apple phone support was unable to resolve this and the support person said he has not heard of this problem and would contact the engineering department.

  • Deleted a POP account and lost all mails

I changed my POP server and, extremely stupidly, deleted my old POP account details. Now I have lost all my old emails from that account - any way of getting them back or finding the old POP account details?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Well, if you have deleted the accounts using the Mail client you will have lost the mail on the Mac (its always an idea to keep the mail folder ~/Library/Mail backed up, say to a CD or external HD). Best bets for deleted accounts on Mail is to check whether your mailboxes are still present or not on the POP server, or possibly to use HD recovery for the deleted files on the Mac (need to stop working on the Mac asap and get an application like Data recovery http://www.prosofteng.com/products/datarescueinfo.php or similar).
