Think twice about engraving. Would you want to buy a used iPad with someone elses name on it or some other words.

According to Apple's customer service line you can return an engraved iPad for an exchange, but it's not clear if it's within 14 or 30 days. If you call they says 30, but their site says 14. I think it has to be purchased straight through Apple though. Contact where you bought it from and tell them you are thinking of buying a iPad and having it engraved, but are concerned about the refund policy. They'll explain it in more detail at that time.

Warranty void on Apple engraved products?

Can anyone help me? I'm thinking about buying a 3rd Gen Nano from the online Apple store for my daughter for Christmas and getting it engraved, but I've been informed recently that if I have it engraved it will void the warranty, is this correct?
I have also read the limited warranty and nowhere does it say anything about deeming the warranty void if the iPod is engraved by them.
Any advice welcome, thanks.

Engraving it does NOT void the warranty. (I presume you're talking about the engraving service that Apple offers? I don't know what would happen if you, say, had it engraved by a jeweler or did it yourself.)
What you can't do, if you order it engraved, is return it. So, if you're daughter doesn't like it, you're stuck with it. Unengraved, it could be returned within the standard return period (don't remember what that is. 14 days?).

Anyone else been getting messed up engraving on devices?

Over the past few months I have ordered several iPod Touch 4Gs from the Apple website. My main reason for ordering them directly from Apple was to get the free engraving. The purchase price was no lower than I could have purchased them for from Wal-Mart or any other chain. But I really wanted the engraving.
The first one I ordered was a Christmas gift for my daughter. I wanted something special engraved on it. When it arrived the engraving was illegible. It looked as though a mistake was made a couple of times, and instead of scrapping it and starting over they simple engraved again over the first attempt.....and did this a couple if times. I phoned Apple to complain and was able to return it for another one. With that purchase at least the second iPod came with perfect engraving.
Then, in Februrary i decided to myself a new one. The first one came with my engraving just as messed up as my daughter's first one was. Again I had to go through the hassle of returning it and ordering another. I was hopeful that like my daughter's the second one would be okay. BUT....when the second one arrived the engraving on it was even worse than the first one. By this time I was getting mad. I phoned Apple to lodge a complaint. I told them that obviously this is a quality control issue, since it happened 3 times to one customer. If it could happen that many times just to me, it must be happening a lot to customers all over the world. Apple, by way of apology, gave me A purchase code for $45.00 off my next Apple purchase, which I appreciated......but I was sick and tired of sending iPods back, so i used that $45.00 toward yet another iPod, WITHOUT the engraving I really wanted. I am disappointed that I had to settle for something that was less than I wanted......but I think I would be forever ordering and sending back otherwise.
I can somewhat understand something like a spelling mistake that went unnoticed.....but an engraving mess such as was sent to me is plainly easy to see. Why even send a mess like that off to a customer. That is not good for business!
Back last fall, in October, I bought an iPad 2 which I had engraved. The engraving on that is beautifully done, but it is done using a different method, likely because the back is titanium. When we pay $300.00 for a little iPod, we should be able to expect service equal to that of the IPad, IMO.
Obviously, Apple offers the free engraving as an incentive to get people to purchase their product directly from the website rather than from a retail store. This being the case, said free service should be done in a way that pleases customers, rather than creating headaches for them.

This doesn't help much, but just FYI, iTunes and QuickTime have never been supported on the 64-bit version of Windows (look here for the official statement). Some people have managed to get it working (at least tolerably), but from what I've read, a recent update from Microsoft has caused a lot of problems. You might try rolling back recent Windows updates and see if you can get things working again.

I believe that engraving has to be ordered before purchase, and is only for online purchases. It is not done in the physical stores.

How to fix an incorrect engraving?

So I am getting an iPad as a gift for someone. They asked me what engraving I wanted, I gave them the quote and they wrote it in. When I got the email saying that the iPad was being packed up to ship, I got to see what it was going to say. There is a big typo in the quote. How would I go about getting that fix? If it is at all fixable. By the time I had gotten to the email, the little status bar said it the order was beyond the point (Preparing for Shipment), so it is on its way here typo included.

No. The only way to get an engraved iPad is to order one from Apple (in the store or online). Engraving is not done in the stores.
Something to consider before ordering an engraved iPad. It cannot be returned unless it turns out to be defective. Engraving an iPad yourself (or having it done by someone else) will void the warranty

How can you tell if an unopened product is engraved?

I got an Ipod Touch for Christmas and was wondering if there is a way to tell if it is engraved without opening it. I googled it and couldn't really find a conclusive answer. I am interested in upgrading from an 8gb to a 32gb and read that apple does not accept exchanges of products that are engraved. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Want to know if i could bring the ipad i pre-ordered from a retailer for engraving in any nearby apple center

is there anyone who knows if i can take my pre-ordered ipad to apple center for engraving - the retailer doesn't offer this free service... but it was too late when i saw it online.

As neat as an engraved pad would be, for the first couple of hours, unless you are nuts, you will park it in a full case, and never see the engraving. Until you take it out of the case to sell it to get the new one, and realize it is worth less because of the engraving. Maybe your subconscious made a better choice for you.....
