Enhance details in an image

hello im new to the forums and i have adobe photoshop elements 8.0. and i have a few images i would like to enhance. but first how do i put the images at full resolution not at 36% the size and how would i go about zooming in without pixelation and enhancing details in the image? which are the best tools to do that?
any help appreciated
Thanks,
Kevin

For the first one, I did the following:
Enhance menu>Unsharp mask. Amount=100, Radius=1.2, Threshold=1
Got the Sharpen tool (R) of the toolbox, Strength set at 50% on the tool's option bar, and "painted" selectively over the metallic looking emblems
The fingers look blown out, so opened a blank layer at the top, sampled the skin color from an adjacent area with the eyedropper tool, then with brush tool painted over the blanched-looking fingers.
From Filter>Noise>Add noise I added a little noise to the layer created in step #3
For the third one:
Enhance>Adjust lighting>Shadows/Highlights. Worked the 3 sliders, esp. mid-tone contrast
Used steps 1 & 2 as delineated above.

You might want to look at a dynamic pdf creator maybe, like
www.asppdf.com, it can load an image into a new pdf and put
    dynamic text
where ever you want. The PDF can be streamed into the browser
    for the
    user to print.
Depending on your server technology you could also use a
    dynamic image
library, which will do the same as above but directly with
    images.

  • How do I change the color of an image while still keeping some detail within the image

I am trying to take a handprint such as the one below and change the color of the handprint to say a light pink (or any color) but I want to keep most of the detail of the fine lines that make this handprint unique.  The lines could even just come out as white as below.  The main thing is to change the overall color while maintaining the fine details.  I have been trying to accomplish this for over a week now in Photoshop Elements 11 and I have been unsuccessful as anything I do just totally color fills the image, which does not keep any details of the handprint.  Thank you to anyone who may be able to help me.

    Hello again,
Unfortunately, I am not getting the same result as you and I was wondering if you would take a look at what I'm doing and maybe you could tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I go to file, open and bring in my file
Go to Select, Layer, New, Layer
    Name = Layer 1
    Mode = color
    ok
Two things then seem to go wrong:
    1.  I chose my foreground color, but when I go to paint, a smart brush setting takes over so I had to change my paint color in that setting - to pink.  also my foreground box color will then change to gray
    2.  So then I do have a pink handprint, but when I change the opacity, it only effects the pink - and not the black on the handprint (pic below).  I want the black to go away and have only the color there with the unique lines of the handprint which you were able to do.
I'm not that handy in layering so maybe i'm doing something wrong there - just not real sure.
Can you help?  I liked the way your handprint came out - if I could copy that with any color that would be great and exactly what I'm looking to do.
    Thank you so much.

  • Calibrated monitor profile 'clips' shadow detail in RAW images

I've been using the Pantone Huey color calibration tool and like it except for one small problem. When viewing RAW images from my Canon 5D in Aperture the shadow areas are 'clipped' and really look crappy. If I do ANY adjustment to the exposure, shadows/highlights, levels, etc. a lot of shadow detail becomes apparent. It's especially noticeable on darker images. This only happens with RAW images from my 5D, and only when I have my Huey profile selected. Aperture and the Huey software are all the most recent versions.
Even if I turn the brightness DOWN shadow detail suddenly pops into life. So the first thing I do when loading in all my photos is to do a batch brightness adjust +.01, or a batch tweak of the levels by .1. See for yourself... Apple, when are you going to fix this odd issue? I've been plagued with it for over a year now and it's getting to be a real pain. Thanks.
    Example:
    http://www.johnnydanger.net/temp/clipped_blacks.jpg

I'd really like to understand your post because absolute vs. relative black point sound very close.
The terms absolute and relative are used to describe different rendering intents (abs. vs. rel. colorimetric). Black point compensation (BPC) is another option when choosing rendering intents.
The only conversions Aperture does [that are relevant here] are between its internal color space (which is unknown) and the monitor color space and between the internal space and the one it exports into (eg, Adobe RGB in my tests). I have not seen an operating system or application that lets you choose the rendering intent for conversion into the monitor space and Aperture is no exception. Since Aperture uses the preferred intent of a profile for printing it presumably does so as well for displaying (in my case this would be perceptual).
Now since the darkest point of the internal color space is probably lower than that of the display using perceptual, or relative with BPC, or absolute should ensure that all shadow detail is visible. Since Aperture (and other apps) possibly honor the rendering intent of the monitor profile it might be that Aperture is mistakingly using relative without BPC before I check the Levels box and only after that switch on the BPC. Forcing the application to always use BPC or using absolute as the preferred rendering intent might therefore prevent you from encountering the problem.
Does what I just said make sense. No, not really but then I don't really know how these apps work internally. And neither do my printing results with a number of labs [10 10 10] is always indistinguishable from pure black.

  • How to find out Enhancement details for Sales Order

    Hello,
    Follwing is the scenerio:
As soon as Third Party Sales Order created, Header Billing block gets triggered (from Sales Doc settings in VOV8).
In Sales Order there are 4 items of items:
    1. Hardware Material (Price) with Item Category, say A
    2. Hardware Material (Free-of-Charge) with item category, say B
    3. Service Material (Price) with Item Category, say C
    4. Service Material (Free-of-Charge) with item category, say D
Now there is another billing block, at item level, for Hardware Material (Price) - item cat. A, ONLY.
I checked item cat. in VOV7, and this block is not configured there.
Sales Order saved (with pop-up message - Maintain Serial No. for Material, but as it's third party Order, stock is not in Inventory, so no Serial number at this point of time). PR triggered upon saving the Order. from PR, PO gets generated, and then MIRO.
Now, as vendor Invoice received with Stock details (Manufacturer's Serial No.), we go to VA02 and maintain Serial No. (Extra --> Serial No.) for all 4 types of material (Pls note that Billing block is for Hardware Price Material, but we need to maintain Serial No. for all 4 types of material) and save order.
As soon as, serial no. maintained, item level billing block gets removed for Hardware (price) material, automatically.
I need to understand how this functionality has been achieved?
More precisely how and where i can see the technical details, like What program is being developed, which user-exit is being used etc...
    Thanks.

    Hi Sumitra,
Since the system exit handler has to call your BADI  go to SE24 and display
    CL_EXITHANDLER
Chose method get_instance and set a break point.
And, then press F8, so it will show all the Badi's.
    Regard's,
    Shivesh Ranjan.

How to achieve this tree table ?
My client wants that they should also be able to manage budge at Location or region level not only at the leaf(Dept) level.
I did a lot of research and finally found out that the details can only printed at the leaf(Dept) level.......
We can not hard code Region, locations and departments in table rows. When table tree is displayed we will only show all the regions... (US, UK, SA, IND, AUS, CAN,RUS, JPN.... etc..)
    For Example:
Locations for US (NY, CA, OKH, WC...... etc.)
Locaitons for UK (SC, ENG, WL..... etc)  and so on......
Departments for CA (HR, IT, ADMIN, FIN, TRVL, OPRN........ etc. ..)
Thanks in advance... It will be really great help if I get some breakthrough...

    Hi,
what if you add a transient attribute to those view objects? This way you don't need to change the table structure.

  • Enhancement details required...adding order header material as component in Process Order

    Hi,
I am creating a process order for a qty of 10. Now when I go to components list header material with order qty (means 10) is added in the components list by the system through some enhancement...how to check which BAPI or BADI is doing this.....can somebody guide me....
    Thanks

    Dear Kumar,
    Find BAPI:
Get the package of the transaction and in SE84 choose the required hierarchy and input the package and execute you will get list of BAPIs. and see given threads: LIST OF BAPI FOR PRODUCTION PLANNING MODULE and BAPI to change production order components
Find BADI: Using Repository Information System (TCODE- SE84)
Go to “Maintain Transaction” (TCODE- SE93).
Enter the Transaction code( which you want to find BADI) and Click on the Display push buttons.
    Get the Package Name.
    Go to TCode: SE84->Enhancements->Business Add-inns->Definition
Enter the Package Name and Execute.

  • How Do I Enhance Black and White Images in Elements 4.0?

On PhototshopTV, I saw a tip for enhancing B&W in PhotoShop CS: Select Layer-New Adjustment layer-Channel Mixer; click the Monochrome box; change values to: Red +74, Green +26, Blue +48, Contrast -12.
I don't see Channel Mixer in Elements 4.0.
Is there a way to do this in Elements 4.0, please?
    Thanks, Lance Warley
    [email protected]

    Lance,
The absence of Channel Mixer adjustment layers is an intentional design decision -- one of the differentiating features between the consumer-level Elements and the pro-level CS.
There have been posts, here, intimating that Richard Lynch, the author of "Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements" for versions 1-3, is said to be working on stuff for v4, which may include a Channel Mixer tool -- but that is still in the future.

  • Losing detail with vector images

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this... when I copy and paste/import or open a PDF (site plans) in different software programs, they quite often lose clarity and detail. This happens in Word 2000, PowerPoint, sometimes in Photoshop CS. It has happened in InDesign CS as well. Can someone explain this? Can I prevent this? Why does this happen? I would appreciate all help!
    Thanks!

This seem to work great! Funny thing is when I scale the font down I lose most of the grunge. I know this is a little small but I've tried to show the difference before and after. The compound path side has the offset path added, which you can see in the larger size. However when the logo is scaled down I loose the grunge. This is even more apparent when it's printed. This logo will be printed on a wide variety of things and at different sizes so I need it to scale correctly. I'd hate to give a client a logo that's only good at one size. Thanks so much for your advice!

  • Enhanced podcast with scanned images

I'm working with a music teacher to help her create an enhanced podcast of a short children's book. She wants kids to be able to view the podcast on an iPod Touch. She has scanned in each page of the book, brought them into GarageBand and added voice. When she exports for either iPod or iPhone, the text of the story is unreadable and fuzzy when viewed on the iPod.
The photos themselves are perfect when viewed in iPhoto, no problems reading the text.
Can anyone give advice on where the problem might be? Would it be with the scanner and the size/resolution of the scanned pages? Or is there some setting or process within GarageBand to redo?
    Thanks for your help!

If the text is fine in iPhoto then the problem is not with the scanner.
The issue will be with the compression used when creating the 'podcast' or movie.
What settings does she use to export / share from Garageband? Did she try exporting it as a full quality movie first and then converting it in iTunes?

  • ACR VS RAW Developer for image detail

I am an avid/loyal ACR fan who makes mural sized landscape prints from digital capture.  I keep hearing on various forums how Raw Developer (Mac) is the best out there for extracting every ounce of discernable detail from a raw file to a print.  I am to the point of considering purchasing the software to do the tests.
If it proves to be a real world benefit, I will likely have to use it.
What has been your experience with Raw Developer vs. ACR in terms of quality detail?
If the above is true, might ACR step up to bat and give us another optional algorithm for maximized detail (like a "maximize detail" button in ACR to choose a more detailed conversion)?
Feel free to comment on the issue however you want.
    I want detail!

I was a big convert and advocate for Raw Developer. I paid my $125 to Brian and I don't regret it one bit. He's a cool and patient guy and answered my emails without fail.
However, the more I got into using the color editing tools on a number of differently exposed and composed images with varying color temps, the more I started not liking what it did to the color. The default settings were pretty good but whenever I adjusted color temp and the saturation and hue sliders including other adjustements I noticed a strange patina in the hues that showed up in my edits that bothered me.
For instance when adjusting RD's red/green tint slider the green looks more like a urine green where as ACR's hue is more pure. When I placed side by side previews of the same image between the two converters I noticed RD's deep shadows on a number of images were void of any color while ACR's retained it.
Some users like the look of neutralized shadows on their display, but from my experience it doesn't look too good on a print. I come from a painting background and charcoal neutral shadows is a big no-no when painting shadow detail on canvas. It ruins the 3D effect. This is the main reason why offset pressman will either include an extra cyan plate duplicate of the black channel or mix blue into the black ink on press. It adds pop to the image.
ACR's color engine is far superior in this respect.
Also I get odd zipper like sharpening artifacts along edge detail in some images with RD. It's still an amazing Raw converter in that it retains the simple interface as ACR with added color controls of Lab and RGB curves which ACR doesn't. But I found I had to work to much to get what I wanted compared to using ACR.
    Your experience may be different.

  • I'm a photographer looking for a good (detailed) resource that will inform me of specifically how I should be saving my images for print/online

I've been working in photoshop for years but I've always gotten a bit lost on exactly what size I should be saving my photo's for optimal quality.
I basically need a good website that will go over all the aspects of saving images as a photographer, but if you can answer these questions that will also help.
    • What size/resolution should I save if I am giving the client images on a disk for them to print?
    • What size/resolution should I be saving photo's just for online viewing?
    • How come when I place my image (saved at 4in x 6in) into a new document that is (682px x 459px) the picture is pixelated?

Perhaps the best resource for all things digital media related, especially when it comes to best practices in the industry is
    dpbestflow.org
Specific answers to your 3 questions:
-generally, 300ppi at the final print size is good enough in most cases. If they are printing the image very large, like a poster or billboard image, then the print size at a lower resolution can be acceptable since it's being viewed from further away. Either always get the specs from the printer for what size/resolution they require, or just give them your full-sized original image, since that's all the pixels they can possibly have to work with.
-depends on every individual's monitor settings. If you supply an image that is HD-sized at 1920x1080, and they're using a monitor with a resolution at that size or greater, the whole image will fit on their screen. If their monitor resolution is smaller than that, your image will be bigger than they can display. Browsers, website coding, monitor resolution, all factor into how these will display on each individual computer. If you want the whole image to display within a browser window then you'll want your total pixel dimensions to be smaller than the average person's monitor resolution (unless you want them to be able to zoom in and see all the detail of your full-size image, then you would upload the full image and let your website do whatever it does to display smaller/thumbnail versions which can then be clicked on to open up the full-res version. Note, the actual resolution, e.g. 300ppi, doesn't factor into monitor display. PPI means it will PRINT that many pixels per inch of paper, and has nothing to do with how it will display on monitors which only concern themselves with pixel dimensions.
-682x459 is a rather small size. Of course it will lose detail. Just imagine if you scaled your image down further into a 10x10 pixel image. You'd have 100 pixels to make up all the detail in your image. Lots of detail will be lost since you've got a lot fewer pixels to make up the image.

  • Image details lost when save as TIF

How do you keep all the image details of an image file when you save it as a TIF? I lose half of mine.

The exact syntax might have changed with CS4, but in the past, it was accessed via File>Browse. Bridge is a very robust file viewer and management utility. Think of Windows Explorer on steroids. It will do so many things that Windows Explorer cannot and likely will never be able to do.
It is also a free-standing program, and there may be an icon on your desktop. Still, File>Browse (or very similar), should bring it up. It also has a great Metadata viewer and editor.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
