Enhance game performance

Hello,
I'm not sure where is the correct place to post this topic. I think I'm in the correct place.
First, my system specifications:
- MSI K9N4 SLI
- MSI R4850 512 (A little oced)
- AMD Athlon 64 x2 3600+ @2.5 (oced to 4800+)
- Seagate 160 GB 8 MB cache
- 2 GB RAM DDR2 667 @511
- Windows Vista x64 Ultimate
The "problem" is the following: I'm playing Medal of Honor Airborne and Jericho, both in highest quality. The games performance in general terms is very quickly, the protagonist "walk" normal, no slowdowns, but when the game loaded for the first time I note a frame rate drop that some seconds later disappears and works as should. However when for example, I'm entering in new areas, a new frame per seconds drop is noted again.
Running FRAPS in MOH Airborne show a average FPS of 25 and I think it's low!
So, two questions:
1) This motherboard supports only x8 speed PCIE ports. Is this the reason for the FPS drop? Or this affect only a little?
2) I'm going to buy more memory, two modules of 1 GB each one. The system will be equiped with 4 GB in total. Maybe the games performance are being affected by the memory because Vista needs to read hard disk paging file?
Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.
What do you mean with sounds problems? The sound works well.
The PSU is CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 550 Watts.
I'm using Catalyst 8.7 final version. Unfortunately 8.8 doesn't work in my system even with my old card (x1550). When I load Windows CCC.exe close due to problems. Formating doesn't solve the problem so it's a bug from ATI. Maybe 8.9 will fix the issue as others users are having the same problem as me.
What can I do to enhance game performance?
I installed Alone in the Dark and it's playable, but when fire or explosions appear, a frame drop is noted
I'm playing this game in high quality too.

Can you limit the number of rows fetched, maximizing the index usage?

  • Bad game performance, but, why?

I got my new computer yesterday. It's a macintosh 2ghz 20-inch iMac, with Memory of 512 mb ram and under the memory section in about this computer it says its running at 667mhz. I have 256mb ATI Radeon X1600 graphics card and 207.96 gb free in my macintosh HD.
I have been having really crappy game performance. THe only game I have is UT2004, but I can't play it at all with the graphics turned up, and while single player works once i put them down to average quality, but even at LOWEST quality multiplayer is really hiccupy. Why is this and can I fix it?

  • Does increasing ram improves game performance?

does increasing ram improves game performance of my MBP 13" 2012??

Using Activity Monitor to read System Memory & determine how much RAM is used
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently.  It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster.  What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent.  It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

  • Games performance on new iMac?

    Hi all!
I want to buy a mac, but!
My brother and I like to play games like Oblivion, Stalker, Steam-games and other. We're waiting for a new powerful Macs from Apple and here they are!
    Now, the questions:
    - could You tell me about game performance on a new iMac with ATI 2600Pro Video card using or not Boot Camp and WinXP?
Cuz, if the performance will be slow, then we should to buy a Mac Pro, which is a bit expensive
    Regards,
    Alex

The performance of the 2600pro card will not be sufficient to run the newest DX10 and latest DX9 games in the native screen resolution (which is 1080i aka 1920x1080).
So you will either need to play at a lower resolution (which will not look good) or buy a MacPro or PC form gaming.
Hmm not sure if your correct there tank. Acording to the ATI website it can. Now before someone says it I know that the info on there is for the pci express version but isn't it the same card inside the imac?
Edit: Sorry tank just noticed you said native screen res ... I can imagine it would strugle at that res.

  • Core i5 27" game performance

    Hey everyone,
Has anyone installed Windows Vista or 7 on the new iMac 27" with core i5 processor and played any games?
I'm thinking about buying this model and although games are not a huge deal for me (wouldn't make or break my buying decision), I would be interested to know how the games perform on such a big screen. Obviously the bigger the screen the more GPU memory you would need. This iMac comes with 512mb GPU, really 1GB would've been nice but you can't have it all
So if anyone has tried this can you let me know how it performed?
    Thanks.

Well I can tell you, you won't have any problems at all. I have a MacBook Aluminum Unibody, with a 2 GHz processor, and Windows 7, and the games are amazingly fast on it.
So that iMac will be much much better...

  • Add Qualification" free enhancement in Performance Appraisals

    Hi all
I trying to activate the "Add Qualification" free enhancement in Performance Appraisals.
    Can anyone tell me:
    1. Can I use this enhancement only in the VB level?
    2. How to define correctly the "Refers to Attributes of"
    3. How can I set up that the scale will be according to the scale maintained in the Qualification (Q)?
    Tx a lot
    Maya

    Hello,
You have within PM the possibility to extend the appraisal document with additional elements based on flexible criteria (for example employee, country assignment etc.). The added elements can be appraisal objects (VB/VC) or external objects (D, Q, etc).
These added elements need to be defined in a way that the appraisal application understands it. If we take the Q object, it has no configuration that describes how to be used in an appraisal environment.
Thats where the reference objects come in place. These objects tells the appraisal application how to behave in case of added new elements. A reference element is a VB or VC and has the same settings as a VB or VC you add fixed in a template configuration.
So here you can then say, if you add one or more Q's to teh document then all these Q's use the settings of the reference object (and will use for example only FAPP with scale YHM as per column config on ref. object).
If you have a fix or free enhancement then atleast one reference object needs to exist. however multiple reference objects are allowed, in the implementation of the fix/free enhancement you can then program which element is to be used when.
in the config, double clicking on the entry after 'Refers to Attributes of' will navigate you to the reference object configuration.
Hope this clarifies the concept of reference objects.

  • BIOS flash resulting in bad game performance?

    Motherboard: K8N Neo2 Platinum
Yesterday I flashed my BIOS to version 1.C, because of problems when rebooting the computer from Windows (booting would get stuck at the Gigabit Boot Agent, until network cable was removed).  The flash was successful, however I noticed a great decrease in game performance after booting into Windows.  Games like WoW and F.E.A.R. Combat had their fps reduced to less then 30 fps, where 40-50 fps were not abnormal before the flash.
I talked to a few people about this and due to their advice I tried reinstalling the motherboard and graphics card drivers.  To no avail.  3DMark2001 benchmarks showed a score of 11000, where I got a score of 15000 when I tested my rig a few months ago.
This morning I completely formatted my Windows drive and reinstalled Windows, including all new drivers for motherboard, graphics card, you name it.  Still my 3DMark2001 score won't go beyond 11600.
I checked everything possible in BIOS and Windows:
    CPU settings are ok,
    memory settings are ok,
    harddisks are configured for UltraDMA5,
graphics card core and mem clocks are ok,
all possibly performance reducing services and programs are shut down.
I can't think of anything else reducing my computer's performance, but can't also think of the BIOS influencing this performance.
Image of new and old benchmark:
    http://www.sloefke.eu/f/benchmarks.jpg
Should I try reflashing the BIOS, and if so:
    a) to which version?
    b) is reinstalling of drivers really necessary?

I've same mobo like yours and used Bios 1C from Syar's.  Refer to my sig in order to flashed it. ALso troed to reset your BIOS by removing the CMOS battery and leave it for 10-30 min make sure you've removed the power cord as well as power connectors and load all the default setting before you need to reflashed it again. Gd luck
I don't fully understand this part of your reply.  Should I first remove the battery and then reflash the BIOS?  What's the difference between removing the battery and resetting the BIOS with the JBAT jumper?
And what are the modifications of the Syar BIOS compared to the MSI 1.C BIOS?  Will it resolve my problem?

  • Bad Game Performance on MacBook Pro Retina

I've been getting below average performance on my the 15" Retina (2012) with all sorts of games lately. I did the SMC Reset and nothing works. I tested it out on Bootcamp with Windows 8 and Windows 7 and the gaming performance seems to be lower than what it usually was.
I have a feeling it may be related to the Throttling done on my GPU, I tested it out on windows and it seems that my GPU Clock is usually running at around 500 to 725 it never reaches the 900MHz and the tempratures is always around 95 degrees.
    Any ideas ?

If you are serious about games, get a PC.  Macs are not good gaming platforms.
    Ciao.

  • Simple game performance question

    Hi all!
Today I installed a simple Mah Jong game on my mothers Mac mini Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz. The CPU performance should be roughly the same as on my iMac(as specified below). She uses a VGA display and has 1GB of RAM and this game doesn´t require very much RAM. How important is the graphics adapter for the performance of this very simple game with very little 3D effects as compared to the latest games on a pc? Do I get a speed boost because of 256 MB instead of 128 MB VRAM? Is it just Intel GMA 950 to blame for less performance or has it something to do with the VGA display?
I´m very curious about this. Thanks for your replies.

+is it just Intel GMA 950 to blame for less performance+
Probably. Integrated graphics can't match a dedicated graphics card.
Another possible contributor would be if the Mini with 1 Gig of RAM has a significant number of other memory-consuming programs running at the same time. This would be especially true if any of the programs invoke Rosetta emulation.
The 2 gig of RAM in the iMac would be a real advantage if it reduces virtual memory activity vis-a-vis the Mini with 1 Gig.
A fair test would be to make sure no other programs or widgets are running, and then test the game.

  • Hi folks, is it possible to enhance the performance of my iPhone 4 (running on iOs 7.0.4)? My iPhone has really become slow, applications like Facebook, WhatsApp, Viber etc take ages to load!

    Any help is appreciated!

If you go to this page, Apple specifically states that performance enhancements for iPhone 4's are included in this update (scroll down to the bottom of the page).
Some folks may have found that their iPhones don't seem to work as well with iOS 7, but that generally means there were other issues that were present prior to the update & they are only just now coming to light.
If you still have issues after upgrading to iOS 7.1, the next thing to try would be to backup your phone & restore it as a new device, just to see if the issues clear up.
If yes, something on your phone is corrupt; if no, you may have a hardware issue that requires the phone to be replaced.

  • 10.7 Game performance

After installing 10.7 the previous night, I find that WoW seems to have taken large performance hits.  WoW for exampe, is neting about a 100% loss in fps (in Orgimmar) on ultra settings.  Moving is sluggish, clunky, and comes with a delay.
I can't say if Team Fortress 2's performance is worse because of 10.7 or because of Valves recent update.  I do believe it may be a combination of both.
    Anyone else having similar symptoms?
I'm using an ATI 5870 HD, if that's relevant to anyone else.
I suppose I'll just have to go back to Snow leopard until Lion is a bit more polished.

I have a gaming performance issue, but I'm not sure if it is relevant to your case. After fresh start gaming perfomance is good, as it is supposed to be. But after I put computer to sleep and woken it up again FPS takes a huge hit. It seems that it becomes capped at 20 FPS regardless of 3D scene complexity. Relogging doesn't help. Computer restart does.
Tested on World of Warcraft and Prey. Both games have this huge performance drop after sleep. But in WoW the start screen animation plays smoothly in any case, which puzzles me.
I'm using Radeon 5770 on Mac Pro (early 2008).

  • How can I enhance loading performance?

    Hi, all.
I'm loding LUBM 50 data set during 4 hours in 11g release2 with new jena apaptor. (Linux 86_64, 16GB RAM )
At First, several data files(.nt) is loaded within several minutes.
But, as time goes by, and as the amount of the used memory is increasing, loading speed remarkably down.
    I don't know the reason.
Now, it looks like the loading stopped.
Could you tell me an advice?
    I'm using below code.

                        graphOracleSem.commitTransaction();

                             in.close();

    Thanks, DonnyDBA.
Unfortunately, I don't have dba account for oracle 11g. I can not get the AWR report.
I should find a way to enhance performance by programming code.
But, I can see the information of system memory.

Whenever oracle load triples, memory consuming is increased. Now, oracle is using almost all memory.
In this system, running program is only the test code.
    Is this a memory leak?
If this is a memory leak, I think my test code have some problems.
When flushAdd() or commitTransaction() method is excuted, do oracle return the used memory?
