Enhanced Performance Wireless Keyboard

I got recently an Enhanced Performance Wireless Keyboard and Mouse with plan to use it with my new ThinkPad W500. Mouse works without problems.
However the keyboard works properly when Language for non-Unicode programs is set to US English. When language changed to Arabic, keyboard loses characters, freezes for several seconds, etc. I tried it with W500 with Vista Business SP1, T41p with XP SP3, and - more interesting - with Dell Latitude D420 with XP SP3. On all those laptops I got identical results. With keyboard language set to Arabic, the Arabic characters do show when typing in Word or Notepad.
However, when connected to my desktop (DELL Optiplex GX520, XP SP3) the keyboard works correctly with US English and Arabic selected as non-Unicode locale.
Keyboard P/N is 41A5219, S/N 00012663.
Tried other wireless keyboard/mouse set (Genius TwinTouch LuxeMate Pro) - it works OK on T41p language independent.

We purchased 10 ThinkPads with the same keyboard and mouse, the keyboard is a bit slow, but the mouse is absolutely horrible, the choppy motion and falling asleep all the time is killing productivity.  Has anyone had any success with the fix for this?  need help ASAP.

Hi. Is there any way to deploy the settings of the USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard settings so that all computers with the keyboard get the default settigs? Got 500+ computers to deploy.

    Hi,
there is no easy solution however this might be worth trying sincle I see it as feasible and maybe you can even use Migration Assistant if you do not have any other tool (I'm not expert on Migration Assistant).
    1. Manually export the registry settings from the current user.
    2. Change “HKEY_CURRENT_USER” to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE”, in the exported registry file.
    3. Remove any reference to “\users\username”.
    4. Then, import the you modified registry file to another machine.
    SEE ATTACHAED FILE PLS.
Let me know if this is sufficient and it helps.

I have 2 long  .LOG files.
If need I will upload them.

  • Enhanced Performance USB Keyboard and Microsoft Officde

Just purchased the above keyboard to use on my new T61 running Vista Business 64. Soon discovered that the assignable keys (Rapid Access) wouldn't open Microsoft Office programs (even though two were by default assingned to spreadsheet and word processor. A complicated conversation with tech support concluded with my being told that that was "as planned" -- the the keyboard software was configured to NOT run with Microsoft Office. Not only am I unhappy that I wasted $39. but I'm astonished that folks at Thinkpad actually let this go through. This all assumes that the person I spoke to at Support was telling the truth; if not, I'm even less happy.

Actually you can assign the keys, I finally figured it out myself after lots of searching and I also had no results from Tec Support, it has only taken two years!!
Anyway, I put the disk that came with the keyboard and mouse in my computer and did not run it. I went to "my computer" and looked to see if there is a manual on it.
Go to the DRIVERS folder, XP folder, KEYBOARD folder, then click on the Readme.txt file, it will give you instructions.
I assumed because the mouse and keyboard worked I did not need to install any software, WRONG.
Good luck, I hope this helps.

  • Keyboard - Enhanced Performance vs Preferred Pro - reliability, tactility, etc.

    I'm comparing...

73P5220  Lenovo Preferred Pro USB Keyboard - US English  29.00
I don't need the extra USB hub capability, so judging from the specs, I would choose the Preferred Pro model.  However, can anyone having experience using either of them, chime in and comment on everything else that matters - reliability, tactility and feel, lags, joy of using, etc?

I am using Photoshop CS5 on a new iMac with a wireless keyboard.  I used to be able to hit F11 to perform a custom sharpening action but now the F11 key is the volume control key and I have tried everything to disable or switch the volume key. I have also tried assigning other function keys to initiate the action. Is there a simple solution to this? What am I missing?

Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

  • Assigning buttons on Lenovo USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard

I have recently made Mozilla Firefox my default browser (it's much quicker to start up than Explorer), however I would still like the Internet button on my USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard to open Explorer, which my son prefers (it currently opens Firefox). When I try to reconfigure the button I can't find Internet Explorer amongst the choices I am given.
I have reconfigured the Lock desktop button to open Firefox. I am sure I had the keyboard set up to do what I want it to do before I reformatted the hard drive yesterday.

I'm glad to report that I've been using this new driver for a month now with no issues...

  • Wireless Keyboard and Wireless Mighty Mouse performing erratically

I got the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Wireless Mighty Mouse as soon as they were available and I haven't had any problems with them until a few days ago. Now, both devices will "disconnect" for a few moments (the screen will show the "Connection lost" icon) and immediately reconnect.
The keyboard usually does it so quickly that it doesn't affect my typing. The Mighty Mouse, however, will sometimes slow down to a very erratic, choppy refresh rate - something like a dusty ball mouse cca. 1994. This usually lasts for about a minute and then fixes itself.
This happens several times per hour. I've tried restarting the computer, restarting the devices (replacing the batteries), removing them as Bluetooth devices and pairing them again, turning Bluetooth on the computer on and off... nothing seems to fix this. Both devices have fresh rechargeable batteries in them, showing nearly-full charge in System Preferences.
Is this a known or common issue? Who's to blame, the mouse and keyboard or the iMac? Has anyone found a reasonable fix?
    Thanks.

    Hi Neven:
See my thread about IDENTICAL situation:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1235070&tstart=30
The erratic behavior is identical, except that only my wireless keyboard is misbehaving. Unlike you, it has become a major hassle for me when I am typing and my keyboard disconnects mid-keystroke. Or, I'm reviewing a website or my work and the keyboard disconnects three/four times in two minutes. Last night, for instance, I was watching something on TV in the background and I saw in amazement as my keyboard just kept disconnecting and reconnecting every 30 seconds.
Otherwise, it is same, same, same: fresh batteries, no other bluetooth devices, 18" distance from the iMAC.
I noticed this began to happen AFTER I downloaded and installed last weeks' iMAC update.
So I reiterate my comment from my own thread:

  • USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard utility crash

USB Enhanced Performance Keyboard (Wired) : skd881x daemon has stopped working
What I'm getting here is a consistent crash of the OSD / button management daemon (Skdaemon.exe) on a standard french Vista 32bit install. This might be a duplicate of this unresolved problem, although the OS is 32 bit here.
I can reproduce the crash easily by using either one of the Volume+, Volume- or Mute buttons at any time as long as the Play/Pause button has never been pressed before. If I start the daemon, choose "Play/Pause" (the indication "Play/Pause" appears in the OSD), then the instance of the daemon will never crash afterwards and I will be able to use the volume buttons until the next reboot.
    I have tried :
using the keyboard configuration tool to change most of the settings,
clean uninstalling/reinstalling the (latest) driver and utility,
looking up for a solution elsewhere,
    to no avail.
I would appreciate any pointer to resolve that annoying problem.
EDIT : updated the title so it appears more explicit from the forum view

I know that bumping my own thread is not really a display of gentleman's manners, but I would like to know if there is a way to reach lenovo directly, at least to make the company aware of this annoying bug (which does seem to be recurrent). I can't seem to find it as I'm lost in the endless cross-references between lenovo and IBM support pages, and a part of the online support doesn't seem to be available in France

  • Mapping problem with Wireless Keyboard and Japanese iPhone

    Hi everyone:
This seems to be a slightly obscure question -- at least, I can't find a ready answer for it with the search terms I've tried, possibly because most people don't use this particular accessory with the iPhone.
I have an iPhone 4 that I bought from and use on Softbank, the carrier in Japan, where I live.  While visiting the United States recently, I bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard from an Apple retailer.   I wanted to carry it with me for use with my iPhone, so I would reliably have a convenient way to access the Internet without being confined to the touchscreen keyboard.  (I live in a rural area where WiFi spots are uncommon, but my iPhone's access to Softbank's data network is fairly good and consistent.)
However, to my frustration, I can't use the keyboard due to a mapping problem.  The Bluetooth connection is fine -- the iPhone can discover the keyboard.  However, the mapping is off: typing "Q" gets me "A," typing "Z" gets me "W", numbers and punctuation are off, etc.  The key point: This is NOT a problem with the International Keyboard settings (under the Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> International Keyboards menu).  I have the Keyboard setting set to QWERTY, which is the layout of the Apple keyboard; I have tried all the other possibilities, just in case.  None of them work.  Setting the Keyboard setting to QWERTY does not make the external QWERTY keyboard map correctly.
The rather ironic addendum is this: While on a recent trip to Tokyo, I visited the Apple store in Shibuya and, after concluding the main business of my visit (discussing my MacBook's battery problems with an English-speaking staffer), I took out my iPhone and keyboard and asked him about my mapping problem.  He started with the Keyboard menu, tried the same things I had tried, realized they weren't working, and puzzled over the problem for a while.  Then he did this: He hit a key combination (I believe) that brought up a menu on the iPhone's screen.  "Ah, there's your problem," he said, and selected a new setting.  The problem was instantly fixed.
To my chagrin, however, I neglected to write down what "Ken" had done to fix the problem.  Argh... I was looking at the iPhone upside-down; I'd already taken up more than half an hour; people were waiting, and I guess, being used to living in the countryside now, that I'm not used to Shibuya crowds any more.  Anyway, I didn't take careful notes or ask him to walk me through it, and now I cannot recall or repeat what he did.  And I still can't use my keyboard!
Any ideas or advice, anyone?  How did "Ken" fix my problem, and how can I repeat it?  Much, much appreciated, in advance.

THAT'S IT.  Sir, you have solved my problem.  Thank you!!
And I feel a little silly; this will doubtless seem to an expert as if it should have been obvious all along.  But isn't that always the way in hindsight?
Here's what happened: The key combination I was trying to remember was "Apple/command + space on the hardware keyboard," as you just said above.  The "menu" it brings up is, apparently, a list of keyboards.  I take it that this list is the same as the list of the "virtual" keyboards on the iPhone?  I have never had more than one external keyboard -- the Apple Wireless -- but I do have several keyboards active virtually, as the iPhone in Japan seems to come with both the "Nihongo Ten-key" and the "Nihongo Romaji" keyboards active, and I added several other languages as well.
When I hit "Apple/command + space," this list comes up on the iPhone's touchscreen.  Highlighted and checked at the top is "English," just as if it had been selected all along.  But nonetheless, when I first turn on and pair my keyboard with the iPhone, I need to perform this key-combination action, as if to "reselect" English, and then the keyboard promptly starts working properly as QWERTY.  I can only assume that one of the others had been default-selected before -- presumably one of the Nihongo ones? -- and that this was causing the interference.
Thank you again!  You have made me and my wireless keyboard very happy.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard with Windows 7 on non Apple Hardware

    Good Day,
I love the Apple Wireless Keyboard and it's the on I use when using my Thinkpad laptop as a desktop, meaning connected to an external Monitor and with an external keyboard and mouse. The Keyboard I use is an Apple Wireless Keyboard.
On my MBA 13 I use Windows 7 as my OS and the Apple lyouted keyboard works actually quite well with windows: The function keys perform very much like in Mac OSX with the volume, screen brightness, the fn+left or right for "home" or "end" etc.
Not I bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard to use in conjuction with my Thinkpad but all does features are missing. I guess that this has to to that on the MBA 13 the appropriate drivers where installed when the whole Bootcamp Software package was installed.
Since I obviously cant install the whole Bootcamp CD on non Apple Hardware, is there any way to just download somewhere the drivers for Apple KEyboards so the behave the same way as they would on a Mac running Windows?
Or is there any other way I could use my Apple Wireless Keyboard with non Apple Hardware the same way it behaves on my MBA 13 running Windows 7? Can somwhere lolely the Apple Keyboard drivers be downloaded?
I want to thank anyone who is kind enough to help mme with this mather in advance and please leave out comments of the kind that I it's my fault, I should have bought an Apple machine from the beginning. I have my reasons and If anyone can't handle that I kindly ask you to just ignore this post unless it's constructive and helpful contribution

"This finally fixed it for me: Device Manager - Open System Devices, you will find a Bluetooth HID Device. Double Click it, open Driver tab and click "Update Driver" Select Browse my Computer, then "Let me Pick". It should now show TWO compatible drivers with exactly the same name. One of them is the Microsoft one, one is the non-working Chinese ****. Install one of them and see if the driver properties changed to the right (Microsoft) driver. If not, try again with the other one. For me, the Microsoft driver was the first one in the list, but this may be different for you.
