Enhanced session connection to a VM-no audio recording
I have a set of VMs that I'd like to connect to with enhanced session and audio redirection, but for some reason audio recording has stopped working through the enhanced session connection. The host is windows 8.1, and the guest is server 2012 R2,
and I have the correct policies enabled on both host and guest. I can connect the enhanced session with the "record from this computer" selected for audio capture, but on the guest I only have playback, not capture.
What's really strange is that if I connect a second virtual NIC to this VM with a public IP address, I can RDP directly into this machine (through a regular RDP session, not the hyperV enhanced session), and recording redirection works just fine. So
far I've tried:
rebooting host and guest
disabling and re-enabling audio redirection
removing the "remote audio" device in the guest's device manager
I've also tried USB redirection using a USB audio device, and this works through enhanced session, but I'd also like to be able to get an audio connection using just the default audio device. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Chris,
According to your description , first please ensure that the recording device is redirected to hyper-v host .
If not , please check the hyper-v host setting .
I also read the following blog :
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2009/05/11/what-s-new-in-remote-audio-for-windows-7.aspx
"Please keep in mind that audio capture must be enabled in the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration on the server before it can be used."
Based on my understanding , you may also need to enable RDSH on hyper-v host then configure desktop experience feature to enable recording .
Best Regards

Can I connect a line in for audio recording on my iPhone?
I would like to use Garage Band for iOS to generate digital recordings of my LP collection. Is it possible to do this through a line into the iPhone directly from my stereo/turntable? Is a separate app required to convert the input/output jack on the phone for "line" recording?
Google something like "copy vinyl to iphone".

Use only 3/4 of monitors in enhanced session.
I have 3 displays connected to my physical machine(1 over 2) and I have a 4th on it's way for a 1 over 3 setup. RIght now I am trying to test multiple monitor functionality within a VM. I am connecting using Enhanced Session and can successfully use all
available displays. However, once the 4th monitor arrives, I would like to only use the lower 3 displays. For now I only have 3 and I have created a group policy on the VM in
Local Computer Policy>Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Remote Desktop Services>Remote Desktop Session Host>Remote Session Environment>Limit Number Of Monitors=2
However, when I connect using this, it will only use a single monitor. When I un-configure this policy, or set the limit to 3, it will use all monitors. Right now this is not an issue, but when my 4th monitor arrives tomorrow, I want to be able to use all
3 lower monitors, and leave the top monitor for the client system. Can anyone test this and confirm functionality, or suggest an alternate method?Hi,
Did you mean that let 3 of 4 monitor work for VM, the last one works for Host Machine? I'm sorry for don't have enough displays to make a test for you.
For further assistance about Hyper-v problem, you can also provide your problem at Hyper-v board in Windows Server forum.

Hi,
I am running Hyper-V on Win8.1 pro. I want to redirect local resources to a virtual machine
I installed 3 VM, generation 2 with W2012 server eval.
option Enhanced session still dimmed.
Do I need to run hyper-v on host with W2012 server to make this future available?For enhanced session mode; Both the host and guest must be Windows 8.1 / Server 2012 R2 for this feature to work (core changes to the RDS Server and Client).
That said, you can open the Remote Desktop (mstsc.exe) and achieve the same thing with any version of Windows from 7/2008 forward.
You connect directly to the IP address of the VM - with remote desktop enabled in the VM. Set your connection settings to support passthrough and go.

Systemd 216: pam_systemd: Failed to create session: Connection timeout
It appears my systemd (v216 as of today) user session configuration has gone bad, and no longer works.
I reboot after the most recent set of updates, and my user session (backed by [email protected] and was relying on loginctl enable-linger's to spin up user instance services) has a long delay, from 5-30+ seconds, and then fails and cleans up the session.

This has happened consistently after every boot I have down. I attempted to re-update to make sure I am current. I double checked systemd user configuration on the wiki and I seem ok. It had close to year without an issue. Double-checked for pacdiff and a few files for different .pacnew files from packages, but none related to systemd or pam as far as I can see.
I also tried searching for others experiencing this exact error, and it appears to be a symptom of different root causes (wonderful). I found a recentish menion on BBS andand another in a bug, and I am not sure how any can relate to my situation.
I have also tried to get debug output for pam_systemd.so with these two variants in /etc/pam.d/system-login, after finding the man page and to no avail.

So I cannot get those to work. I am not sure how to turn up the info to debug further and resolve this. Any help?

Connecting the platinum to my audio mi
Is there a way to connect the platinum to my audio mixer without using the front panel headphone jack? I've had some success going from headphone out to line in on the mixer, but there is the feedback problem since the preamp goes back to the rca inputs on the front panel (I also use the front panel inputs to record from vinyl, but not at the same time). Any advise is appreciated.
Dburkhalter,
Yes it is a stereo minijack, and this could mean that you would loose 5. audio. However there are ways to make it work. The most popular option is to keep your 5. speakers plugged into the rear and center/sub channels and then just switching the output when needed for the front out. You would then set the card to 2. when using the mixer so that the other speakers wouldn't play.
As far as hooking it up like a tape deck, you would go from line out on the sound card to the line in on the preamp. Then run from the line out on the preamp (record out I would assume) to one of the inputs on the sound card (Aux 2 might be best). The trick is to mute the input that you connect the preamp to in playback so there is no feedback. Then you can record from it.
You may also consider getting a dedicated recording card for uses like this. The EMU/Creative Professional cards are very good at this (not to mention very affordable for a pro-level audio card) You can find more about them at www.emu.com. They are called the Digital Audio Systems and are available from many online vendors and local stores.

They would work a few days ago, now they just connect and don't play audio. I am running windows 7.
Thanks for your help.Hello lg41s,
You not able to here sound from your head phones.
With sound it could be a lot of different things.
Here is a link that will walk you through some troubleshooting steps for the audio.
Your easiest fix since everything was working before the driver update is a System Restore.
This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly without affecting your personal files.
Here is a link on how to restore.
Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!
Let me know how everything goes.
Have a good day. -

Vmconnect - enhanced session mode - drag & drop
Host: Windows Server 2012 R2, Guest: Windows Server 2012 R2
I am trying to drag and drop a file from the host to the guest, but it does not allow this.
The icon on the vm windows indicates I have enhanced session mode working.. i can copy, and paste but just not drag and drop in either direction.
I was under the impression that was possible?

Method Session session.connection() is deprecated - version 1.6
hi, making migration 1.4 to 1.6 version JDK, the method session.connection() is deprecated, by what method or feature you can run the code without deprecation
a method which is used:

Yes, new version of Hibernate, until today, 3.3.0, hibernate3.jar, don't have replace the metod connection,
P:S:
www.hibernate.org recommend using the SPI or DoWork(),
"Session.connection()" is used in lines of code below:
public void saveFinding(Finding finding) {
if (finding.getId() == null) {
// hibernate 3.2.6 uniqueresult is now int64 => Long
Long sequenceNumber= (Long)getSession().createQuery("select count(*) from Finding f where f.mission = :mission").setParameter("mission", finding.getMission()).setFlushMode(FlushMode.COMMIT).uniqueResult();
finding.setSequenceNumber(sequenceNumber.intValue() + 1);
// CR 1266
// if the finding status is CLONE, change it to OPEN
if (finding.getStatus().equals(FindingStatus.CLONE)) {
finding.setStatus(FindingStatus.OPEN);
Session hibernateSession = getHibernateTemplate().getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession();
hibernateSession.setFlushMode(FlushMode.ALWAYS);
hibernateSession.saveOrUpdate(finding);
hibernateSession.flush();
if (finding.getDescription() != null) {
try {
ClobSolver.insertClobString("AUD_FINDINGS", "DESCRIPTION", "FINDING_ID", finding.getId(), finding
.getDescription(), hibernateSession.connection());
} catch (Exception e) {

+ ") " + "\nException : " + e.getClass().getName() + " Message(s): " + e.getMessage() + " "
+ e.getLocalizedMessage());

NUMBER OF SESSIONS CONNECTED TO AN APPLICATION SERVER
how i can find out number of database sessions connected to an application server
thanks and regards
AjithCurrent Sessions is the current total number of open sessions for each application. Yes, you can use JMX or WLST within a script.
The WebAppComponentRuntimeMBean mbean of your application provides this information through OpenSessionsCurrentCount attribute.
For instance, in WLST enter:
wls:/my_domain/serverRuntime/ApplicationRuntimes/my_application/ComponentRuntimes/my_app> cmo.getOpenSessionsCurrentCount()
For JMX I suggest to you see [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs91/wlsmbeanref/core/index.html]

I have an Airport Express connected via optical toslink to a dac/amp in turn connected to speakers. When using iTunes I get message "no speakers connected to Airport Express" and audio sound has drop outs.
Ok, if you are connecting the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to the existing wireless network, then the DSL in the next room is most likely a combination DSL modem and wireless router. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
Although they may only be separated by a single wall, the building material used in that wall may be enough to prevent the AX from receving a "good" signal from the DSL router.
Since I don't know what computing equipment you have available, please check out this AirPort User Tip: AirPort - Optimal Base Station Placement to see if you can get some SNR measurements at the location of your AX. To do this properly, you will want to power-off the AX and only get these measurements for the DSL router. -

The message above says the following
REPAPI-26525 Session connection attempt failed for name (@name)
Cause: A connection could not be established to the
specified database using the provided connection string.
Action: Check that the user, password, connect string, names
services, network, and any remote site listener process are
properly installed and working.
The description of the messages can you find under the "Oracle
Lite" Program Group (if you have at least OLite 3.5 installed)
and take "Oracle Lite Message Help" entry (HTML)
It seams that you do not specifiy any password within your
StoreConnectionOpen command. Do it, take whatever you want (if
you have again 3.5 installed; 3.6 is checking the password if it
is correct [new feature in 3.6])

Hi,
How can I find / set the size of the session connection pool?
Thank you.
MartinMartin,
as Joel already mentioned, if you are looking for restricting the number of database sessions if depends on the operating system/database.
Have a look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A97336_01/comm.102/a87562/apptroub.htm#631218
It's from an older application server documentation and explains what Joel has written about process-oriented/threads architecture.
