Enhancement to a cube

Hi Gurus
I am working on BI 7 and as per a requirement i had to add 2 fields i.e calmonth(0CALMONTH) & a key figure namely document number (0CRM_NUMDOC) to a cube, now in tranformation calmonth is being mapped to a field in the DSO name of the field being, date field(0CRM_CRD_AT) and the key figure is being mapped with field of the same name in the DSO.After adding the fields to the cube and performing the full load i do not see the result for all records of the 2 fields that were loaded in the cube.kindly suggest..points will be hansomely awarded

As u said the fields to be added to the cude, in this case the DS is already having this fileds and not mapped at the intal satage of mapping....????
Can you check in RSA3 whether these fields that you have added does contain the Data for this perticluar Datasource.
If you have enhanced the data source then u have to chek at the source system level itself.
Since you are using BI.7 the DTP method then there is only 1 place that you map is in Tranformations.
In this place it is direct map and 0CALMONTH if you map to any data field it will take the conversion automatically.
Same way the Key field also if it is a direct field then it has to come.

Steps to to enhance the existing cube and get the data from r/3

I am at entry level.
if i want to enhance an existing cube and pull data from R/3 into the cube what are the main steps i do.
in my scenario - this is SD module. The infocude is custom cube(CONTRACT cube) . I have to enhance this existing custom cube with new info objects. The person who had created this cube years ago has used generic data source .
Please explain me the main stepd i need to do in R/3 till i get it to BI

check if you can enhance the existing generic data source to bring data for new info objects or if those fileds are aleady existing in the data source - if existing, you will have to make changes only in BW side, if not, you will have to first modify the generic data source
if you have modified the data source, relicate data source at BW side
create new info objects and add those to cube > activate info cube
map the info objects with fields in data source > activate tranformation
test it by loading the data
now you will have to move these changes to produciton;
move the data source changes to R/3 production system (if applicable)
replicate data source in BW production system
move the BW transports to production system
you will have communicate to the uses that data will not avialable for some time or you need to reload data in cube in off business hours or on a weekend
delete data from info cube
initialize delta without data transer
do a full repair to the cube
now you can run delta on a daily basis

Effects of R3 DS enhancement on remote cube

Hi All,
Is there a direct effect while running queries against a remote cube when its underlying R3 DS has been enhanced?
An example is, I'm running queries on a remote cube copied from OL_PCA_1. Now I enhanced R3 DS 0EC_PCA_1_9 (which feeds IS 0EC_PCA_1, which in turn in the basis of my remote cube). I did not include the new characteristics in the remote cube itself, but rather included it in the enhanced standard OL_PCA_1 where more granular reporting will be performed.
Will there be query performance effects on the remote cube using this approach? How can I measure the performance impact (if any) on the remote cube's queries?

Enhancement of Inventory cube ( 0IC_C03)

Hi,
I would like to include movment type and reason for movement in this cube .
The respective fields (of MSEG table) of R/3 are BWART,GRUND.
Does it make sence to enhance the datasource 2LIS_03_BX by this fields .
I observed that these fields are avialble in Extraction structure MC03BX0.But these are not yet availble in the DS 2LIS_03_BX .

Pls understand following things when it comes to inventory .
It's handled using 3 datasources
2LIS_03_BX , 2LIS_03_BF & 2LIS_03_UM .
First step is to Perform Stock initialization in R/3 side
using data source 2LIS_03_BX . At that moment ..all the closing stocks (Stocks at that moment)
for all stock materials are marked & taken as opening stock into BW .
It doesn't deal with movement type at all at this stage ...
and it is a one time job .
secondly , You need to run Statistcial set up for Material Movements using
This will inter fill the datasource 2LIS_03_BF ...which is specifically designed to handle movement types
Here all your historical/current/future movements are passed to BW only thru this data source .
So u need to update Movement Type thru this data source in BW . As i Know Movement type is already available
in this datasource ..only you need to include it in cube & connect thru update rules .
3rdly , You need to run Statistcial set up for revaluation data using
This will inter fill the datasource 2LIS_03_UM ...which is specifically designed to handle Revaluations without any
movement type .
One thing to remember here is Movement type can be given for report drill downs . But what happens is
You will see the effect of drill down on movement type as follows
Hint1 : Storage location not Blank (Not #) and Movement type # - Opening Stock during initialization (Filled from 2LIS_03_BX DS)
Hint2 : Storage location will be '#' and Movement type "#" is Revaluation data (filled from 2LIS_03_UM DS )
Hint3 : Movement type is proper(i.e No #) & Storage location is also proper (i.e No #) is the proper movement data filled from 2LIS_03_BF
datasource
One thing is all 3 of them can be validated perfectly with R/3 system . So you should not treat that as errors in BW results
User should be aware of this things before he drills down on movement type . No other Go !!

My requirment is to enhance my Cube in Live with Data to include a New Time Char into Time Dimension...
I tried of using Remodeling...but it is giving me Short Dump (Posted in other Thread)
So i am planning to perform the Below
Data Flow into my Cube is
Source System-->ODS (Delta)-->Cube(Delta)----->Multi Cube
1)create a copy cube with the new field
2)load from cube to cube via transformation,
3)reconcile the data,
But please advise on How to proceed
The Requests in the Cube is Compressed and there are aggregates defined on the cube
How its going to effect my process which i am planning to perform as above mentions

PS: If you will start using 0calmonth in your queries, you may think about partitioning the new cube by 0calmonth

Inventory cube 0CP_IC_C1 enhancement

Hi,
I want to enhance the Inventory cube 0CP_IC_C1 inorder to get the Purchasing details in to the inventory cube. Because i need the PO details pertaining to the particular Good Receipt values.
Is there any way to get the PO details based on the GR values or can i go ahead and enhance the Inventory cube to get the PO Details.

Remember thst if yo want the MM Stock related for materials for each 0PLANT you must use the infocube 0IC_C03 not the 0CP_IC_C1.

0IC_C03 Cube Enhancement

I am having an issue with updating the cube with new infoobjects and key figures. I am using 7.0 features and have converted the transformations properly. The data is fine and i can tie it out to r/3, but when I attempt to add a infoobject to the cube and run the DTP, the load fails. I have followed all the steps properly from the How To:, but it doesnt really mention enhancement of the cube.
Does anybody have any idea on what i am doing wrong.

The error i am receiving is very general and says "Error while updating to target 0IC_C03 (type INFOCUBE)" with no further explannation. I have attempted to debug but havent really used that feature and will have to learn more about. I am attempting to create a new infoobject in the cube that does a simple calculation based off of 0calday. It seems though anything i add to this cube the loads fail. I believe it might have to do with the non-cumulative key figures in this object but I dont know much about those either.
There are no special characters in this it is simply a key figure that returns a value.

Enhancing Virtual Cube 0FIGL_V01

Hi all,
We want to enhance the cube 0FIGL_C01 to add few additional characteristics. We want to know whether we can genereate Balance sheet reports (in balance sheet format) from 0figl_c01 cube itself or we have to create new or enhance the virtual cube 0FIGL_V01. I couldnt get the name of the functiona module which is called by the standard virtual cube.

Is it possible to Enhance 0TCT_C* BI Statistics Cubes

Dear SDN's,
We successfully installed BI Statistics Cubes in our BI 7.0 system.
But we want Costcenter to be avilable in all the BI Statistics Reports.
Is it possible to enhance all 0TCT_C* cubes with costcenter.
Are we need to do enhancement for virtual cubes also i.e 0TCT_VC* (or) only enhancement to 0TCT_C* Cubes

I added costcentre as a navigational attribute to 0TCTUSERNM and made a transfer routine to Costcentre.
My client wants to see which user belongs to which costcentre and how much frequency he using the cubes or queries.
Please let me know which is the best option
(1) adding as a navigational attribute to info object
(2) enhancing and coding the 0TCT_C* cubes,

Keyfigure is attribute of Master data and need to add at cube level

We have requirment that need to make report out of Cube and in the report all the fields are comming out of the cube .But one key figure which is not in the cube and need to be there in the report.It is the attribute of sales org.
Sales org is existing in our cube .
Please currect me if i am wrong.i am planning to add the new key figure in the cube and will populate the data using upgdate rules.
Thing is we have upgraded system into Technical BI7.0 from BW 3.x now.If i am going to add the keyfigure in the cube then i have to move the existing data into dummy cube and enhance the existing cube with new keyfigure and write update rules.Do i go for Transformation or Update rules.
The exsiting cube has Transfer rules and infosource and update rules

i dont think there is need for including the kf in cube and doing the update rules routine stuff.
you can directly use the KF from the attribute of the master data in the query.

Are the fields present in the structure of the Data source and not there or you want to populate the fields from different tables?
double click on the extract sructure --> click on append structure --> it will prompt for Append struture name --> enter and click ok -->add the fileds to the append and activate the structure.
next in implement the logic in CMOD....

How to customize standard BCT InfoCubes?

Hi gurus,
I am new to BI.I got one scenario like adding 2 new user defined InfoObjects into the cube along with standard business content infoobjects which i delivered with BCT InfoCube (eg:0PAPA_C01).Is it possible to use the same infocube enhance with 2 new InfoObject?. how can we customize the standard iinfocube?. is this recommanded?. or we need to use BCT infocube as a templet for zcube?.

As said in the previous posts we can enhance the standard cubes, but is not recommonded, Better u make a copy of the stardard cube and do the necessary changes to this new cube.

2............Previous Period
3............Sum from starting to current period
Cube is stored at period level..
Can anyone through me your views of doing, posibilities and prefered ways of the 2 approaches below

b) New cube to caliculate abouve things and then infospoke

As an enhancement to the cube you could add a new dimension (call it "View"). Make it Dense with one stored member called input. Then add a dynamic calc member called "Round" and set the formula to round the values stored in the input member. This will let your users and/or source systems continue to load as usual (load to "Input" member), and for reporting you will have the rounded numbers. Since it's dynamic calc, there is no need for an additional consolidation, it will run on the fly. Lastly, since you made it a dense dimension with only one stored member, you do not increase your block size and your overall performance should not be impacted by the change.
