Enhancing tools vs Photoshop

I tried to use the Enhancement tools in iPhoto. They are probably the most important tools for an image. Compared to Photoshop/PE, in iPhoto they are very basic and underdeveloped.
The shadows/highlights tool really bad. The Saturation tool makes the whole image dark, instead of highlighting and enhancing the colors, etc...
Do these tools do a better job in Aperture ?
Any Clone tools or Spot Healing ?

sorry for my delay ...
imho, aperture is best used in conjunction with a program such as PS or PSE (even Gimp - its free) ... there are cases where the tools in Ap are not enough to solve some heavy lifting ... for me, that amounts to >5% ...
Want to ask you about the Sharpening tool. In PS/PE this is the most popular and most essential, AND the most effective tool. There is nothing better than this.
In Aperture, this tool as good as in PS/PE, or at least very good ?
yikes ... well, i guess the political answer will be that this is a very subjective interpretation ... some people who (imho) sharpen too much think it is just right, and the other way around ...
the best thing is to get the trial on your mac and see ... that is probably the only and best way for you to decide if you think it is as good or very good ...

In CS6 if you simply switch to the crop tool after making the selection the crop area is automatically set to the selected area and if you don't want to change anything click on the ok check mark and you are done. Is that what you want to do?

Make sure you are in Expert mode (click on Expert at the top).
The Clone stamp tool appears in the Enhance group - make sure the tool option is set correctly.

How about a limbal ring enhancement tool?

In the vicinity of the red eye tool, it would be nice to have a limbal ring enhancement tool which would obviate the need to go into Photoshop and mess around. Limbal rings are the dark or-black rings that separate the iris from the white and are considered a facial attribute. Such a tool should have a feathering and opacity option to make it look natural.

Sorry about the repeated post above. I've looked through the brush presets panel and checked the Lynda.com offerings, and I can't find any directions for settings that will vary the opacity of a brush according to hand pressure. There seem to be plenty of variables, most of which I can't imagine using, but who knows? At any rate, greater-or-lesser stylus pressure yielding greater or lesser transparency, opacity, call it what you will, isn't there. As usual, terminology can be a problem. How do I find it if I don't know what it is called? I need a photoshop eraser that will erase less or more completely dependig on whether I brush the stylus lightly or with greater pressure. Does such a thing exist, and if so what is it called? Is the setting in Photoshop itself, or in the Wacom preferences? IF it's in Photoshop, what, again, is it called? And where is it? As I said, if you haven't used it before, the brush presets panel can present a fairly unintuitive and unhelpful face.

Using Text Tool Freezes Photoshop CC 2014.2 x64 release

I have just updated Photoshop CC to 2014.2.0 -- 20140926.r.236 x64 release. Now I am experiencing an issue when I use the text tool to just type a few words on a new document or layer. The application seems to freeze up as soon as I start typing? I wait several minutes with nothing happening and have to resort to using the Windows task manger to kill the photoshop processes. This did not happen before I updated to this release?? Please advise how to fix this if possible to [email protected].

Can't find 3d tool in photoshop cs6 extented?

We purchaseed adobe design and web premium cs6, which inclueded photoshop extended, in last week. When we try to use 3D tool in photoshop we can't find with enable. How can i enable the tool. the following images showing without 3d tool. I did deactivate and avtivate again. I have only system build graphic card. Is it need to fix additional graphic card? what graphic card is suitable for using 3D tool? below given my system information.give me the suggestion.
Kindly give me the solution to enable 3D tool for working.

Using Clone tool in Photoshop CS causes F9 to randomly activate

I'm not sure if this is a Photoshop problem or an OSX problem. I have posted on the Adobe site, but there was only one response and that didn't tell me much. And then I thought: it might actually be an OSX problem.
When using the clone tool in Photoshop CS, after an hour or so, under circumstances that I have not been able to replicate, PS starts to activate F9 on a continuing basis. Sometimes only once (all open windows appear separated); sometimes twice in quick succession; sometimes three or four times. The effect is exactly the same as pressing F9 1, 2, 3 or 4 times every couple of minutes.
I get around the problem by shutting all other windows (then the PS window I'm working in doesn't get changed - I just click on it to bring it back if it has been F9ed); or if the F9s get too annoying I shut down PS and start again.
Is this activation of F9 likely to be:
* a PS bug (somehow it is activating F9)?; or
* an OSX bug (PS does something and OSX triggers F9)?
I have not had the problem occur anytime except cloning in PS. I doubt it has anything to do with Expose (as the PS poster thought) because I do not use Expose.
The problem appears to me to be almost random. It might be in my particular setup, but I suspect that PS and/or OSX are going slightly haywire in a very esoteric way under certain vague circumstances. How's that for a non-specific description of the behaviour

This is an issue seen from time to time with Photoshop. The Photoshop team has said they're going to take another look at it, over on the Photoshop bugfix / feature request forum (http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/_adobe_community_help_keeps_popping_ open).
Not everyone sees this, so take heart, it can work well.
One source of random corruption seen with Photoshop can be from buggy display drivers. OpenGL implementations in display drivers are changing to this very minute.
You can try disabling OpenGL Drawing for a while, do some editing and watch to see if it still happens. You'd do this via Edit - Preference - Performance, and remember to restart Photoshop after making the change and before testing.
Or you can visit the web site of the maker of your video card and download/install their latest drivers. I recommend this, no matter what else you do.

About Using Magnetic Lasso Tool In Photoshop CS3 Extended

I seem to be having a problem using the Magnetic Lasso Tool In Photoshop CS3 Extended as when I get half way around an egales beak zoomed in at 66.67% and start to single click around the tight corners the photo is covered over with a white background and the palettes to the right of the Photo e.g. layers, channels, paths becomes white to and all you can see is the paths that the Magnetic Lasso Tool has made around the beak until you click any key on the keyboard but the annoying thing about doing that is that the path automatically becomes selected there for I am unable to draw the paths around the rest of the beak does anyone know of a patch of some kind that will correct this error?

We have the same exact issue here with the Polygonal Lasso tool. Get anywhere from 20-80% around an object and it hiccups once and then locks up for a moment causing you to loose whatever you've been selecting.
Symptoms include toolbars and palettes turning white and screen freezing for a moment.
Is there an official word on this from Adobe? Or better yet, a solution?

Problem combining selection tools in Photoshop CC 2014

When I make a selection using the Quick Selection Tool in Photoshop CC and then switch to the Lasso Tool to refine the selection, it just adds to what I already had selected. If I do the same thing in CC 2014, as soon as I click on the photo with the Lasso Tool the original selection disappears.

Look at your selection options in the tool options bar for the lasso tool.
Sounds like cc is set to Add and cc2014 is set to New
You could just keep the option on new and use the shift key to add to the selection.

All tools in Photoshop CS5 not moving smoothly (only making dots instead of lines)

All my tools in Photoshop CS5, including the brush, eraser, healing brush, etc. are only making dots, instead of drawing smooth lines. When using the brush tool, for example, if I click down and drag my mouse to draw something, only the initial dot for where I clicked down gets colored in. Does anyone have any ideas as to why?

Does anything jump out to you that could be causing this problem? Also, my lasso tool doesn't work properly as I can't drag anywhere. The move tool also doesn't work properly. I can click down and drag a layer, but after I release my click, the layer moves back to its previous position. The only way to move any layers is by free-transforming them.

Where can I find the equivalent tools in Photoshop that are in the develop module of Lightroom? For example I would like to use the shadow, clarity, lens correction and such tools but cannot find them in Photoshop.

The obvious or not so obvious first. Depending on your knowledge. When you open a tiff, jpg, or camera' raw format they can be opened in Adobe Camera raw first which has identicle controls to lightroom's develop module.
Starting with I beleive CS5 maybe 4, some of the tools made their way into photoshop it self. Take a look at the camera lens filter, the Image>Adjustment menu or the adjustment layers which now support vibrance for example.

When a tool misbehaves, go over to the far upper right corner of the tool options area and click the four-lined square. Choose Reset Tool from the popout menu.

Hi - thanks for your comments. It was happening on all of the selection tools however I have solved the problem by changing the 'Advanced Graphics Processor Setting' to 'Basic' in Photoshop CC.

How to eliminate a field created by Application Enhancement Tool

Hello All,
I´ve created some fields with Application Enhancement Tool and now i need to delete one of then. When i select at webclient to delete it, system says that i need to do manual steps to eliminate the field. Can anybody tell me what are this manual steps?
Another thing, is there any way to update entries of combo fields created by AET without being at webclient?

could you send me the text which describe the manual step?
As far as I know the only manual step that you have to do after deleting the AET field is remove the field from the UI Configuration.
Updating the entries of the entries of the combo field(dropdown list box) can be done via AET.
Technically, you can also directly edit the generated Domain. However, I would not recommend you to do this.
It is better, if you update the entries via AET.

Application Enhancement Tool: 'R/3 Adapter' checkbox inactive

Dear colleagues,
We are working with CRM release 7.0 SP5.
We are trying to establish replication of the data from ERP field KNA1-KDKG1 into a newly created custom Z-field appended in CRM to the table BUT000 using Application Enhancement Tool (AET).
While creating a new Z-field with AET, on the dialog window 'Field Details' there is a checkbox called 'R/3 Adapter'. We understand that in order to get all necessary Middleware objects automatically generated for us, we need to activate this checkbox. However the checkbox is inactive (and unchecked).
What system settings define whether the checkbox 'R/3 Adapter' is active and therefore can be checked? Is the functionality behind this checkbox really what we expect: enabling replication of the data from the newly created CRM Z-field between ERP and CRM?

We have a very similar requirement to add custom fields in CRM and map it to existing fields in ECC. Can you please let me know the steps whcih you followed in ECC for this ? I have added the fields in CRM side using AET with r/3 adapter flag. But I am trying to figure out which structures need to be enhanced in ECC side.
Any help on this is much appreciated.
