Enlarge image maintain resolution

Photoshop Elements 10.  I want to enlarge an image and maintain 300 dpi resolution.  If I enlarge the image the resolution automatically lowers.  I need to keep the res at 300.  How do I accomplish this?

Check Resample Image in the Image Size dialog.

  • How do I reduce the size of a graphic in Preview and maintain resolution?

    Preview 6.0.1
    Hi,
    I have a graphic in Preview. The largest file is a .jpg at 77 KB. Information about the graphic is in the attached "Adjust Size ScreenPreview Galleon 77.
    I find that when I reduce the size of the file using Previews menu bar functions that I usually use — Screenshot>Zoom reduce>Select the smaller picture>Screenshot — that the result is an image that has lost the focus, the resolution of the original graphic.
    How do I reduce the size of a graphic and maintain resolution? I've never used the Adjust Size Screen functions.
    I'm not stuck on having to use Preview to accomplish this, but I do use Preview a lot.
    Thanks,
    Rafael
    KB.jpg".

    Choose a smaller width, the height will adjust appropriately, and the resolution will stay the same.

  • Image losing resolution?

    I'm wondering if there is a way to set my image to not lose to much quality when it is is scaled. Let me give you an example. I have a banner that is 1000 x 400. My screen resolution is 2048 x 1152. My monitor is a 24" monitor. I singed up for a google+ account and you can add a custom background/cover image. The problem is that when I added the image it automatically scaled it to fit using my computers settings, and this 1000px x 400px was scaled to about 1800px x 600px and lost a lot of its quality. I know I can make the image bigger, but I also there is a way to modify the settings of your image so that it doesn't lose quality when scaled. (not that bad anyway). There are no settings in google+ to change it, it just scaled it to fit my computer settings.
    Thanks for any help.

    There no way to perfectly maintain resolution of a bitmap
    while scaling, but setting the
    smoothing
    property to
    true drastically improves the interpolation when
    scaling.

  • Crystal Reports - OLE image maintain correct proportions

    I'm using a CR 2008 to report off of a Oracle database.
    The report consists of a three images per page.
    The image comes from an OLE object which shows the image dynamically from an image path field as the graphic location.
    My images are not all the same size....  Some are taller and some are wider than others.
    So when these images display in a set area, some get squashed vertically and others horizontally.  It's important tha the images maintain the correct aspect ratios.
    I've played with "size and position", "can grow", "scaling" and "size", but still can't seem to make the scaling and proportions work for all my images.
    Any advice from the experts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Karen

    Hi Jason, Dale
    I have tried a multitude of different (and some crazy) combinations of parameters etc.  I've also tried sub-reports wtih different parameters.
    Nothing seems to work to include various sized images into a fixed frame and maintain proprtionality.  It's a frustrating issue.
    For new development of images that will be include in the report the image must meet the very strict size requirements.  This is the only way to manage the image inclusion.
    Thank you Jason for the link to some re-sizing software - this will be good to use with historic images.
    If there is anyone out there that has some different ideas on how to handle this let us all know....... Please
    Kindest regards
    Karen

  • Image Size/Resolution for ProShow Producer ?

    Need to prepare images for a slideshow I am creating in ProShow Producer.  Not understanding their suggestion to convert my images to jpeg 1.5.
    The projector is 1920 X 1080 and will be shown on a 26' wide screen at a movie theater.
    I correct the RAW image and then Save As tif (dimensions are 5184 X 3456 at 300 ppi).
    Usually I resize the tif at this point and Save As jpg.  When I resize I have always put in the dimensions 1920 width for landscape images and resolution 300 ppi.
    Would you just change the pixel Dimensions and leave the Document size alone?
    They want me to Save As jpeg 1.5 and I don't understand what they are asking me to do or how to do it.
    Can anyone explain this to me?

    try google. It appears to be a webcam format.

  • How can you get an image's resolution information in OS X 10.3?

    In Windows Explorer you can see an image's size and resolution by right-clicking on it and looking at its properties. Is there any way you can get this image information in Finder or by running an AppleScript?
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

    Hi, Daniel. The Finder doesn't know anything about the resolution of an image file — that's why you can't ask the Finder to display it. Resolution simply isn't a Finder-accessible attribute. You need to use an image-editing, -viewing or -browsing application to display an image's resolution on a Mac. There are dozens of such apps to choose from, ranging from freeware to Photoshop, and they all work differently and have different capabilities from each other.
    Let me add that an image's dimensions (length and width, in cm or inches) are meaningful only when it is printed. They have nothing at all to do with how it is displayed on a computer screen. And similarly, the image's resolution expressed in ppi (pixels per inch) is meaningless except when you're printing it, since the size at which you print it literally determines its ppi.
    What is far more meaningful to know about an image is its dimensions in pixels, e.g. 1024 x 768, 1680 x 2240, etc., since those pixel dimensions are what actually limit the image's visual quality at any given size, both on a computer display and in print. The image's file size in KB or MB can also be useful, although if the image has been compressed into a .jpg file, its file size may be misleadingly small.

  • How to make Image/size/resolution agree with metadata resolution?

    After scanning the help file a bit and searching thru this forum a bit with `metadata resolution' as search criteria, I'm still pretty confused about how it is supposed to work.. I may have never actually found the right part of the help file.
    Cutting to the chase: How can I make the resolution reported by the metadata tab for resolution agree with what is reported inside photoshop at Image/size resolution.  I didn't see any way to set how res is reported in bridge.
    I see many pictures reported in metadata as 72 ppi for resolution and  reported in photoshop as 200 pixel/inch
    They do BOTH mean pixels per inch right?  If so, or really even if they don't how can I get the two reports to show the same resolution?
    There are too many processes that depend on knowing res in advance of opening a file for that to be so far divergent.

    Some JPG or Tiff with Camera raw settings will be opened in ACR firstly when you double click them. In ACR workflow option (the bottom in the ACR dialog) the resolution value isn’t same with that in Bridge (metadata panel). If you go ahead to open the image in PS by clicking ‘Open Image’ button in ACR dialog and then check the image size from Image -> Image Size in PS, the resolution will be same with ACR (actually it is changed by ACR).
    If disable ACR support for JPG and Tiff in Bridge (Open Camera Raw Preferences in Bridge and choose ‘Disable JPEG support’ or ‘Disable TIFF support’ for ‘JPEG and TIFF Handling’), JPG or TIFF files will be opened by PS directly and the resolution matches between Bridge and PS. I believe this is an ACR bug.
    So what file types are you using and if they’re opened by ACR firstly in your workflow?
    The files are *.jpg.   But I don't see where camera raw comes in.  These are common jpg files.  I'm opening them by double click in bridge.
    Any way I did disable jpg and tiff in the Camera Raw preferences as you suggested.  At Jpeg and tiff handling, both disabled. and restared bridge.
    However, I see no improvment.
    For example, a file reporting 72 ppi in bridge when opened in photoshop ... Images/size resolution reports 480 pixels/inch.
    There is obviously some kind of miss handling that has been done to these files for them to have such a high resolution.   I suspect they may have been handled at Walgreens or Walmart... or similar since I had something very similar happen to me once when I had a bunch of pictures developed at Walgreens and they cam back with resolutions like that, when I know the camera would have given them something way less.
    But I don't see how any of that should be effecting Bridges  inability to get the resolution right.
    Here is another example: some.jpg
    It appears that bridge is showing an unusually huge file size in inches, to account for the reported 72 ppi.
    Bridge:
    Size: ...............1.14mb
    Dimensions:.....1496x1064
    Dimensions in
    inches ............20.8x26.7
    Resolution: .....72 ppi
    ===========================
    Photoshop:
    pixels
    Width 1496
    height 2064
    Document size
    inches
    width  4.987
    height 6.88
    Resolution 300
    Do you have further suggestions?

  • Safari won't enlarge image

    I can get Safari to enlarge font sizes but suddenly, today, it stopped enlarging images. I used to be able to hit Control+ and Safari would enlarge the image. Today, it stopped doing it. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    Greetings,
    The keyboard command to enlarge is Command-+, not Control-+. If you're using the latter key combination, that would explain the problem. If you're using the former key combination and it doesn't work, what URL are you at when it does this? Did you try accessing the function from the View menu to see if that works?

  • HOW do I create a NICE enlarged image in a window EFFECT? CS5

    Maybe a long unnecessary title but I'm not sure how to describe it, and I can't find an example at the moment.
    Basically, I would like to create little image thumbnails which when clicked on bring up an enlarged version of the thumbnail. Basic I know, but rather than just having it load up in a pop-up window like you can do with behaviors in Dreamweaver, I would like the enlarged image to appear in a window which expands out from a small rectangle/square to a large rectangle/square (kind of like an animation) and THEN the image appears in this lovely display window.
    How is that done?
    Maybe I haven't explained this very well. In the meantime I will have a look and see if I can find an example to better explain what I mean.
    Thank you.
    Ian.

    You're looking for a AJAX "Lightbox" style script. These are quite common these days, and started with the original Lightbox JS script. They've since evolved into related projects like Thickbox, FancyBox, Lightbox 2, etc.
    Here's a round-up of the different available scripts (plenty more are out there if you Google "lightbox script"):
    http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/05/18/30-best-solutions-for-image-galleries-slideshow s-lightboxes/
    The way these work are:
    You place a script or two (sometimes your lightbox script and the jQuery JS package) in a folder on your server
    You then link these scripts in the head of your document
    You add your thumbnails to your page, and link them to the larger images
    You then add some type of attribute to each thumbnail, such as a class like "lightbox".
    When you click the thumbnail, instead of getting the larger image it triggers the lightbox script. Most all of the scripts have either instructions on setting them up, or a demo where you can view the source code. What I used to do is download the script, which almost always has a demo file in the download package, and open that up in Dreamwevaer to reverse engineer. It's not as complicated as it first looks.

  • How to View Album as Only THumbnails and Enlarged Image

    I hope I can explain this right...
    When I click an album on my page, it takes me to a page of smaller thumbnails of all of the images in that album and the thumbnails are scattered around the page. When I click on any of the images, it takes me to a page that shows a strip of square thumbs across the top of the page with one enlarged image beneath, with the option of clicking on any of the thumbs or starting a slideshow, etc. Is there a way you can be brought directly to this page from the main albums page and bypass the middle page of medium sized thumbs? That middle page seems unnecessary and I'd be psyched to learn how to skip it. Thanks!!

    When clicking on the People gallery, the page we're bypassing blinks briefly before going to the thumbnail page. This doesn't happen on the other pages. Any thoughts?
    It's servers latency or you browser caching, it's part of async processing (AJAX).
    Also, there is a Back to Album link in the upper left which takes you to a blank page and then you have to click the Back to Index link to get to the main Gallery page. Can I get the Back to Index link on the other page instead?
    Give this a try:
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    _base=parent.window.location.href;
    if(_base.indexOf('#')==-1){parent.window.location=_base.split('#')[0]+'#0';}
    var albumsIndexURL = 'http://web.me.com/jrcphoto/jrcphoto/GALLERY/GALLERY.html'; // this is you album URL, change this if needed
    function newBtI() {
    if (parent.widgets) {
    headerControls = parent.document.getElementsByClassName('com-apple-iweb-widget-detailview')[0];
    backToAlbumDiv = headerControls.getElementsByClassName('left')[0];
    backToAlbumAnchors = backToAlbumDiv.getElementsByTagName('a');
    for (btaai=0;btaai<backToAlbumAnchors.length;btaai++) {
    backToAlbumAnchors[btaai].removeAttribute('onclick');
    backToAlbumAnchors[btaai].setAttribute('href', ('' + albumsIndexURL));
    chknewBtI = setInterval('newBtI()', 500);
    </script>

  • Photoshop CC crop image size & resolution dialog box

    In previous versions of Photoshop the "R" button displays the Crop Image Size & Resolution dialog box.  Is this feature completely gone is CC? I can't find anything the even references this dialog box.  Anyone out there have this issue?

    In photoshop cc 2014, the size and resolution boxes will actually show on the tool options bar instead of a separate dialog window, by choosing W x H x Resolution from the drop-down menu.

  • Is there any way that I can sort images by resolution?

    Hello
    Have you guys found out any way or apps can sort images by resolution?
    I've tried Path Finder and Forklift, neither of them can do it .
    For now, I'm doing this with winxp on a PD5...

    You can do this in Finder. If you cntrl+click on the saved search query folder for images you can add resolution (width and/or height). All Images> Show Search Criteria>click on the "+" sign click on the drop down list on the far left select other if you check the box to the right (In Menu) that criteria will show up in the list. I use 4 resolution criteria to eliminate small files when do a "random" search (greater than but less than). You can also save a new "smart folder" with the criteria.

  • I need to submit 2 photos  Image and resolution

    I need to submit 2 photos
    Image and resolution & size : 4" x  6" @ 300 dpi  ( how do I do this from iphoto)
    Is there a way to upload these so you both can see them and then we can pick out 2 from 354 pictures
    I have to complete by May 4th

    300 dpi is 300 Dots Per Inch
    So by simple math  4x6" at 300 dpi is 1200 pixels by 1800 pixels
    To do this in iPhoto your photo must be that size or larger. Crop to 4x6 and export with a custom size with the maximum dimension being 1800 pixels.
