Enlarging on a legal sheet of paper - LaserJet M1217

I am unable to get the printer to use the full page when enlarging on legal size paper on the LaserJet 1217nfw.  The bottom 3 inches of the paper is not used.  If I try to change the enlargement setting to force the use of this space, the printer just truncates the document.
This question was solved.

Hi,
When you are using enlarge option make sure that you are selecting legal paper in the paper set up.
Go to system setup>Paper Setup>Legal ok.
try printing again and it should work.
Hope this helps...

• Printing Questions - "Poster" - One image on multiple sheet of paper (to create an enlargement)

Hello,
Tried to find this in the archives - apologies if this has already been answered. Kindly reply with that link and I won't ask you to chew your cabbage twice...
On my older PC, I used to be able to print an image in "poster" mode, which essentially let me print and enlarge an image by printing it across multiple pages (e.g. 4, 6, 9 pages.) Since I'm a painter, this was an easy way for me to print out an image - and enlarge it - from which I could tape the pages together to create the enlargement. I then could use that rough poster-enlargement-on-multiple-sheets-of-paper to trace on to my canvas. (And my photographer friends have already pointed out the ease of which to actually print poster size images, but I don't need that expense or hassle for my purposes. I basically want an enlargement to trace onto a larger size canvas to paint on.)
Since I just got a new Mac, I've downloaded PSE9 Mac trial, but can't for the life of me figure out how to replicate what I used to do on my PC, granted with an older version of PSE.
Hoping this makes sense - and hoping against hope that someone can nudge me in the right direction...
Thanks!
Greg
BTW - IF this does make sense, AND I can do on the Mac or the newer version of PSE - anybody got an idea for a workaround? (Short of buying PS CS5...?)

Juergen,
Thanks so much! Of course you're right - and this does the job perfectly! Thank you so much for the prompt replay, explained clearly, and very helpful! You've really helped me move onto items which I've really wanted to do!
Very gratefully,
Greg

• How do you get rid of white space when you are printing multiple pages to one sheet of paper?

How do you get rid of extra white space when you are printing multiple pages to one sheet of paper?  When printing multiple pages to one sheet of paper Acrobat won't let you select the "zoom" for printing.

no - you simply have to select the option to print mucliples of a photo on a page
select the photo and go to the file menu ==> print - select the printer, paper size and print size and click customize - in the tool bar click on the settings icon (the gear looking thingy) and select "multiple of the same photo per page" and the preview will reflect this option showing a full page of the selected size photos

• How do I print multiple identical small images on the same sheet of paper?

I would like to know how I can produce multiple identical small images (10mm x 10mm) on the same sheet of paper?
I used to be able to do this in older versions of Adobe Photoshop.
Thank you.

Try using picture package. There is an option to print 10 copies on a single sheet.
1. Select your photo in Organizer
2. Click File >> Print
3. Choose picture package in section 4 of the print dialog
4. Select layout in section 5 and choose fill page with first photo
5. Click print button

• How can i print a one page spread sheet without having it spread over several sheets of paper none of which is complete?

I have an iMac less than 1 year old with lion o/s and numbers. i have been spoiled in the printing of spread sheets on PC's. I find it impossible to print only 1 page when printing a single page spread sheet. The result is my spread sheet spread over several sheets of paper with no usable spread sheet printed. Can anyone help this 86 year old man who has been to the Apple Store twice to learn this but I still have trouble. Thanks in advance for your help. jim

Jim,
Take heart.  We can help.
First turn on page view so you can see how the content of your sheet fits on the page(s).  A Numbers document contains sheets (listed on the left) which in turn contain tables, charts, text, and graphics.  Select the sheet you want to print on the left, then enable page view by selecting the menu item:
"View > Show Print View":
Now you should see your content and how it fits on one, or more, pages.  If thie content is too big for one page use the controls and the bottom left of the window to expose the sheet controls:
Here a table is too big to fit on one page:
slide the "Content Scale" slider so the content fits:

• I opened a link in an email from Penney's to print a coupon. All Firefox printed was a blank sheet of paper.

The coupon opens in a new window. My printer is connected but all that comes out is a blank sheet of paper. I copied the URL to IE, the coupon opened in a new window, and it printed. What is blocking the printing in Firefox?

I'm going to guess this coupon was a PDF file. There are two things you can do:
Wait until Friday, and update to Firefox 29.0.1 which fixes this issue [[Update Firefox to the latest version]]. I recommend this if you can wait two days to print PDF's
If you can't wait, [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]] can help you change your PDF viewer to one that can print.

• Why is my scanner (epson PX710) now scanning the same sheet of paper at 20 mb now where as before it was 107kb for a pdf scan before Maverick?

Proir to downloading Mavericks my Epson PX 710 printer/scanner would scan a sheet of paper with typed numbers and figures on and file in my docs box at about 107kb each and every week now the same sheets are coming out at 20+mb each sheet. I have downloaded the new epson download changed my printer in the system preference and it's still crap! (excuse my langague but frustration is getting  to me)

Check the scan settings in your software, whatever scanning software you are using.  It sounds like you are scanning at a much higher resolution than before.   Check your scan resolution.  Files will be much larger if the scan is done at 600 ppi than at 72 ppi.
Some scanners have special settings called Text, Line Art, Magazine, B&W Photo, Color Photo, etc.   The Text & Line Art scans are always much smaller than the other selections.  Color Photo will always yield the largest files.

• Mac printing two pages on the same sheet of paper double-sided

I have a large PDF file that I'm trying to save paper by printing two pages of the file on the same sheet of paper and then printing double-sided, e.g. pages 1-2 would be on the front and 3-4 on the back. I can accomplish the first part by changing the page layout, but then can't figure out how (or if) I can duplex print. Can anyone help? I'm using Adobe Reader 8.1.2 on a Mac running OS 10.4.11.

Yes I do. Normally, I just have the printer print even pages on one side and odd on the other side. But, putting two pages on the same side fouls up that process. If I try printing odd pages, I get 1 and 3 on the front and 5 and 7 on the back, instead of what I want. Maybe I'm wanting to do something that can't be done. After I changed to the two-page layout, I thought maybe I could do a Save As PDF in the Print dialog box, but that was not allowed by Reader.

• Printing multiple small booklets, back-to-back, on one sheet of paper?

Can it be done? I've designed six 16-page tiny booklets (finished size is business card size) and I'm self publishing them (not sending to a printer).
To conserve paper, I'd like to print out three on each 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. Can this be done with InDesign? [I just bought CS this week:(]
Thanks for any help,
lkg

Not with a one-click solution, but if you create an imposed PDF (Print Booklet on Windows or Mac running Leopard or earlier, or print to Postscript from Print Booklet and distill in Snow Leopard, or run an imposing script to make an new file and export spreads from any OS) you can place that muliple times to make your n-up sheets. There's a great script to automate placing the PDF: InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Zanelli Releases MultiPageImporter for Importing both PDF and INDD Files

• Printing Multiple images on one sheet of paper ( Printer Package)

I want to print multiple different images on one sheet of paper using PhotoShop 6 Printer Package, (operating system windows7 h/p)  I have figured out how to get multiple images of the same image on one sheet, but not two different images.
I seen these instructions on the web and can do 1.2.3....4.  has me lost.  I think this may work for me, unless there is another method that is easier.
Important: Mac OS X users much first apply an update to Photoshop before attempting to customize the Picture Package layouts. Information and and a download link can be found at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ (Thank you Matt Jones for this tip!)
Copy the next five lines and paste them into a text editor, like NotePad or SimpleText:
I 8 10
Letter (3) 4x6
0 0 6 4
0 4 4 6
4 4 4 6
Name this file FourBySixes.txt
Copy the file to your Adobe\Photoshop X.0\Presets\Layouts folder where X represents your version of Photoshop.
Open Photoshop and try it!
I copyed  #3 and save to my documents, but I can't figure out how to do #4, or where the Adobe X.0\ Presets\Layout folder is at, if you could dumb this down for me I would be very grateful.
thanks

I can only guess that Photoshop 6 under Win7 would have the layouts under Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop 6\Presets or thereabouts.  This is the Photoshop Elements forum,  you may want to try the full Photoshop forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/photoshop_windows

• Print image 10"x 18" on two sheets of paper

Re HP DeskJet 5150
Is there a way to print an image that's 10"x 18" on two letter size sheets of paper?  That is, print part of the image on one sheet and the rest of the image on the second sheet (not banner paper).  I've tried using the Banner printer setting, but it only prints part of the image on one sheet of paper.

You can use an alternate driver with the features you want.  Download the Officejet 8500 driver from HP here.  When the installer prompts you to connect the printer select the checkbox for unable to select the device.  After the driver has been installed click Start, Devices and Printers, right click on your Photosmart 8250 and select Printer Properties, Ports and find which port the 8250 is using.  Note this for later.  Next cancel this and click Add a Printer.  Select the same port as you found previously for the Photosmart 8250, Next, then choose HP and the HP Officejet Pro 8500.  Print a test page when you are done to verify the printer is working properly with the new driver.  You can then print to this instance of printer and select Poster Printing in the main page from 2x2 sheets up to 5x5 sheets.

• Adobe forms prints part of one page 6 times on a sheet of paper

I am attempting to print a completed web based Adobe form and the 8.5x11 page prints part of  the page about 6 times on one sheet of paper.  This has happened before on Adobe documents and I was able to get around it by saving the PDF file (downloaded from a home utility website) then opening it in Adobe Reader XI and printing it.  This time I do not have the ability to save it since I filled out an Adobe form (the system will not let me save the completed form as a PDF file.)   My system:  iMac 27-inch Late 2009; OS:  OS X 10.9.4; Adobe Reader:  XI, version 11.0.07; Printer:  Canon Pixma MP490 (verified I have the latest drivers)
Print preview shows the document the way I would expect it to print.
The last time I called we never resolved the issue:  Apple points to the printer or Adobe, Adobe points to the computer or the printer, and Canon points to the computer or Adobe.

When I first open the form on the web it appears to be an Adobe file, but still on the web via Safari.
Even before I try to save the file there is a message at the top of the screen that reads, "Please fill out the following form.  You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."  BUT, when I just saved a blank copy of the form to my desktop, opened it in Adobe Reader XI, filled in the form and then printed it the form printed nicely.  Problem resolved, or at least a work-around handles the problem easily
It is frustrating that I cannot print directly from the Adobe file via Safari; i.e., I have to experiment to find a solution instead of just hitting the print button (yes, I'm lazy!).
Thank you!!

• Printing 12 pictures on 1 sheet of paper

Hello,
I am trying to print a contact sheet in iPhoto version 6.0.6. I want 12 contacts on 1 sheet of paper. When I select the 12 photos, and tell it to print, the photos stay tiny. (It is not resizing them to fill the entire sheet of paper.).
Is there a way if I select 12 pictures to have them all resize to fill up an 8.5"X11" sheet of paper?
Thank you!!!!

You can't. It takes those 6 photos and puts the 3 across (to get all on the page at the largest size) and scales them accordingly. If you want them larger you can't get them all on one page. Physically it can't be done and keep the same size ratio for the photos.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
