Enlarging Photo Viewer In iWeb

The current max size is 600x800. Does anyone know how to make it larger, like 1024x768 etc..
Not using .mac to publish. I can see the code, but it won't allow changes (or will it ??)
Thanks,
Paul

First, try this approach:

if that isn't good enough, you will need to look into javascript, iweb slideshows are controlled by javascript.

Nowadays its better to stay away from flash. There are lots of JQuery ones like this...

Galleria is one of the better ones as it can be finger swiped on iOS devices...

  • Iweb photo viewer

    Hi,
I made my website in Iweb 3.0.1 and want to display some photo's. Unfortunately, I don't like the theme/template of the Iweb and I would like to use another one for example something like this: http://michielbrouwer.com/index.html (click UNHEIMISCH)
I'm NOT familiar with html and java so I'm looking for a photo viewer that I can easily drag into Iweb and update my photo's onto.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Roddy,
Thank you for your patience and also your kind email.
I will ask the question on here for now, but if I need more in depth question I will email you.
    1. How do I upload my "portraits" folder to the root folder on my server at Godaddy? I went to my godaddy's account page, but couldn't locate anything where I can upload a folder... Do I simply call them and ask them? If I have to, what specifically do I have to ask for?
    2. Do I have to copy everything (even the last part where it says "Your browser does not support IFRAME...") below and change the necessary URL and height & width?
<IFRAME SRC="http://www.website.com/FAExport/index.html" WIDTH="750px" HEIGHT="750px" FRAMEBORDER="0" --if "0" no border, otherwise "1" with border MARGINWIDTH ="0px" MARGINHEIGHT="0px" SCROLLING="no" --"no" no scrolling bar, "yes" show always, "auto" showed when need > Your browser does not support IFRAME </IFRAME>
Once again, so sorry for asking so many questions... and thank you very much for taking time to help me out.

  • Can photo albums be viewed on iWeb blog if you don't have 08?

Recently tried to create a blog with a couple of my photo albums on it. Unfortunately I am having some trouble doing it. I hope don't need the new iLife to do that task. I tried to click and drag he photo album from I photo onto the iWeb blog page...to no avail.

bitslap47, thanks for your input as well.
Unfortuneately, I'm a real newbie, and though I have Outlook 2002 I never used it for my contacts, so I have to input them somewhere, so I 'think' the easiest way for me is to input them directly into the Outlook Express and save me the 'possible' pain of transferring.
But THANK YOU for the information which I will save for future use.
    Thanks again:)!

  • How does one enlarge the view of a small photo?

Sometimes I just need to quickly retouch a small, non-pro photo, but the photo's only displayed at its original size. Sometimes I just want to enlarge it temporarly, while performing the retouch.
I realize the enlarged photo won't be sharp, etc -- but it's not permanent; it's just so I can hone in on an element in the photo. I thought I could use the standard, Mac-keyboard shortcuts (⌘+ and ⌘-) to adjust the display of a small photo, but so far, there seeems to be absolutely no way to do this. If the photo is small, it stays that way, no matter what.
    Am I missing something?

Thanks, SierraDragon, for the suggestion. It was a good suggestion, and it worked, but it wasn't easy.... (No reflection upon you, but upon the nature of Aperture.)
I created a light table, then it took me 3 or 4 minutes to figure out how to get a photo to display on the light table. After dragging one to the light table icon on the left, I saw it in a list at the bottom, but it was unclear how to get it to display. Eventually I figured out that I had to drag it yet a 3rd time, from that list to the actual table.
After that, I was further confused by the fact that I'd moved the zoom slider (on the light table) all the way to the right, but the photo was still not being displayed above 100%. Finally, it occurred to me to drag one of the "handles" at the corner of the photo and drag to enlarge it.
So that's a total of 6, separate steps -- including the creation of a "light table" -- just to get a small photo into Aperture and to zoom in upon it. Unreal.
I still don't understand why a photo from the desktop can't simply be dropped over Aperture's dock icon. Just getting photos into Aperture is complicated.
I'm a huge Apple fan and supporter, but this has to be the most unintuitive application they've ever released. I wonder if Aperture was originally developed by, then purchased from, another company (just as Logic was, which explains why Logic is so convoluted, as well).
I bought Aperture because I thought it would be like "iPhoto Pro." But it's really a different beast, all together. I love the advanced editing features, but Aperture's too convoluted for me to abandon iPhoto. I find I don't like launching Aperture, because it's too difficult to accomplish simple tasks in Aperture.
I've submitted this issue, among others, as feedback. But I fear that there aren't enough Aperture users submitting these issues for them to be deemed important.
    Thanks again.

  • Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08

    Hello,
I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?

I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on?

  • Photo Viewer for Mac

Is there an equivalent of Windows photo viewer for the mac?  I don't want to edit images in it, I just want to view in full screen and to go forward and back thought the images, with simple options to 'view at 100%' 'flip left/right', 'enlarge' etc. This is not big difficult stuff right?
I've played with iphoto and dislike it enough to delete it, you can download free apps better than iphoto. I've tried both preview and quick look but don't like them at all.  If I select an image it always opens in 'preview' but the 'previous/next icons are always blacked out? Why?
If I use 'quick look' I can move forward/back using the keyboard but it never opens full screen, it always opens to the 'fit screen size' and then really irritatingly jumps about in size all over the place depending on the next image size.  It's ok if I drag it to full screen, after which it acts pretty much like windows viewer except there are no options to open an image in an editing app, view at 100%, enlarge, flip left/right etc.
In short it's a poor viewer, I guess that's why it's called quick view uh?  Is there some amazing mac facility that I'm missing here. I could just about live with 'quick look' if it always opened full screen but can't see any way to do this.

Preview IS the Apple version of Windows Viewer and its more powerful opening PDF, editing , JPEG, TIFF and other formats.it will even do audio !
Oh and clearly you don't get iPhoto it is a viewer light editor and photo image database. Again far more powerful than Windows Viewer.
Infact its data storage is based on industry standard Aperture.
Quick view is effectively a built in PDF/inline viewer tool within the finder than allows just about any document to be viewed irrespective of format.Probably nearest to what Windows Viewer actually does
It has no editing tools and that not its function.
To open it full screen you hold the ALT key whilst clicking the document in finder
You DO have the opton to open in a specific app at the top of a Quickview window by default it usually says Open Preview however just right click and a list of all potential applications are then listed. You then choose the one you want.
When you select an image from the finder to open in Preview that's exactly what it does- Opens that specific image. IT does NOT load the entire folder because its a separate application - NOT part of finder !
Again you need to work through iPhoto its really has more going for it than you think and no there really aren't better FREE apps out there.
Oh and why the need for full screen viewing - THAT really is a windows hang out. MAC OS is designed such that windows open to the maximum size to display content rather than a locked full screen model by default.
That said if you look in to top right of the window bars click those two divergent arrows you go full screen.
Sorry to say you really have to change your work flow else you may just have to go back to Windows .
As for alternative image viewer depends how much you want to spend and from the sounds of it nothing !
    Options
    Adobe Lightroom
    Adobe Photoshop Elements
    Adobe Photoshop (Full)
    Pixelmater
Install the X11 OS UNIX environment and run GIMP
    Try out Graphic Converter.
    Anything else ?

  • I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error.

I tried to implement photo albums using iweb and got a publishing error. All was fine with my site until I added the photo album page. The software doesnt say what the error is exactly, only that it is a publishing error to my ftp
Exact message "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider."
If I reduce the albums inside to 1 then it seems to work but that takes away from the usefullness of multiple albums.
my iWeb version is 3.0.4 (601)

Publish your site to a folder on your hard drive to see if the publication will proceed successfully and open the site locally with your browser to confirm all of the alums are there and work.  If they do try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If you're still not able to publish from iWeb to your server download and use the free  Cyberduck to upload your website files to the server. Users have found that CD has been successful when iWeb had problems.

  • DPI and image quality in programs like Windows Photo Viewer

I'll keep this as short as possible.  About 6 years ago I bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-F28 digital camera (not DSLR).  It claims 10 MP.  After that my daughter bought a Canon Rebel (don;t know the model) which has 12 MP.  I would compare her pics with mine by looking at them in Windows Photo Viewer.  Hers always looked a lot fuzzier than mine.  Especially true if you zoomed in.   And I gave her a hard time, saying she had bought a knock off.
I just purcahsed a Rebel T5i with the usual kit  18/55 lens.  I took a picture with both the new and the old camera.  Guess what?  Given the same subject with the same lighting, the Panasonic still produces much clearer pictures in Windows Photo Viewer than the Canon.  The only difference I see is that the Canon states the DPI as 72 and the Panasonic as 180.  OF course, the Canon image has a lot more pixels.
I know that DPI matters only when a picture is printed.  But is it possible that the DPI property in the image file is telling Windows Photo Viewer how to present the image?  I hope so.  Otherwise I lucked out with my Panasonic and got the best camera in the world, or a Canon is not so great after all.
Do I need to apologize to my daughter? See attached images.
These images are opened in MS Paint and cropped to bring out the eye and hair detail.
    Panasonic Image
    Canon Image

You comparison method is seriously flawed. For 1 image to be at 72 DPI (a software supplied setting) & the other to be at 180 DPI it means that one image has been enlarged (180 divided by 72) 2.5 times more than the other to view it on screen. Zoom in on the good image until it's 2.5 times larger & see how it looks.
Next thing you need to know is that camera technique becomes more important as pixel count increases. an 18 Mpixel image will have an 80% increase in softness over the 10 Mpixel camera from identical camera shake. To make any accurate form of comparison you will need to eleminate the possibility of introducing camera shake into the test. You will also need very similar lighting & the subject must also be stationary for all test shots. (IE that eye (or the person it's attached to) may have moved during one shot but not the othern

  • Satellite C650 - Windows Photo Viewer freezes every time in use

    Hello all,
my C650 is a brand new purchase and so far I haven't been able to view any photos; on a memory stick, in "My Pictures" or in any form using the Windows Photo Viewer. Once I double click on the picture icon, the image enlarges to full screen and freezes whilst "loading" is displayed.
At this point, I can't even end the process using the windows task manager. I'm only a student and quite inexperienced with the workings of computers, so any help will be greatly appreciated!

Please dont understand me wrong but best option for you will be to ask some friend of you how it works and how to handle with different picture formats and different applications.
I mean who knows which photos do you have, which format, which capacity and so on.
With standard jpg format there should not be any problem. For instance, in windows explorer you can find folder Public pictures with some sample pictures. Can you open these pictures?

  • IWeb-How can viewers export/capture photos from my iweb sites?

I am working with iweb 08 and created a website for fellow classmates to view old grade and High school pictures with names and want them to be able to export or capture copies of any photograph from my iWeb site for their own use. I want them to have a good quality photo that can be in a size from 5 x 7 to 8 x 10 inches like the originals.
How can they get copies of photos off my iWeb site??

    Hello Newbe here
Have been playing with iWeb and I believe that it can do what I want it to - however, I have been struggling yo get it to play ball.
I have a load of large images in my idisk-Public folder, however this is a bit cumbersome to navigate and does not offer the user a preview of the image. What I was hoping to do was to create a small website in iWeb and then place some thumbnails on the pages (with some text etc) and then links to the actual files on the iDisk/Public folder. For information there is about 2GB of files (many of which are 300dpi large PSD files at between 25-50MB each). As such, it would be impossible to embed them in the website and, I don't really want to have to upload all 2BG back to iDisk again in order to get links in the iWeb directory to work.
I was hoping that I could use the hyperlink to a file - but this does not seem to work and it just seems to embed the file into the website. If I go to iDisk/Public and try and point the hyperlink at a specific file - then it seems that everything in the public folder has the same web address (I have a number of sub-folders in the Public directory).
So just for total clarity - what I am trying to do is generate a website in iWeb, place a small JPG or PNG file (thumbnail) and then provide a number of links to a source file either as part of the thumbnail image or with some text next to the image (where the file is available in a number of formats - e.g. PSD, EPS, TIF, etc).
I hope that this makes sense and that someone out there knows how to solve this issue and is kind enough to point me in the right direction - before I pull all of my hair out.
    Thanks in anticipation.......
    Andy

  • Thumbnails to enlarged photos with specified placement

I've searched this discussion about enlarging thumbnails and found some good info. My problem is, the thumbnails enlarge right over the thumbnail. WHat I am trying to do is be able to click on a thumbnail and have the enlarged photo appear in a specified place on the page. I have tried placing hyperlinks on the thumbnails and linking to another page with the enlarged photo placed in the specified area, but the transition between the pages is slow and sluggish. I would prefer a transition that would not involve reloading the page in such a way that the thumbnails and other text have to reload as well. I just want the enlarge photos to change.
You can view my page at <web.mac.com/timothygreeson/TLG_Photography/Headshots.html> to get an idea of what I am trying to do, and the problem I am having with bad transition.

There is html code to do what you want on this site
