Enlarging Pics in My Pictures file

Hi,
If I recall, I use to be able to enlarge pics while in my Pictures folder. I use to do this with thumb & finger and spread them apart.  Was this something in Snow Leopard, no longer in Lion or Mt. Lion?  I checked the mousepad settings and could not get it to do this.
Thoughts?

Figured it out. It was a fearture of Snow Leopard. I've recently converted to an SSD and reinstalled Snow Leopard. I plan to hang with Snow Leopard for a while as I never found Mt. Lion all that greater to drive me to reinstall it.

Well, you didn't give any information on your Mac, your OS version, transfer pics from where to where, or anything else, so guessing is the best anyone can do at this point: you should be able to simply using drag and drop.

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • How do I OUTPUT an edited picture file from the iPad (latest) to an external USB for easy transfer?

I am a photographer and I use my camera and iPad everyday. Camera takes pictures, connect to iPad, edit pictures with iPad software, output to Internet somwhere (Dropbox, etc..).
However, sometimes I need to hand someone a USB stick with an edited picture on it that came directly from the iPad. I know that I could do it by buying another computer but that would be silly. I do not have another computer.
I need to get the picture file OFF the iPad onto an external storage device (USB stick for instance). Can anyone help?

Currently you can't use the camera connection kit to export pic to a USB thumb drive or an SD card.

  • How can i put my pictures from my picture files into my iPhotos for photo streaming onto my apple tv?

Hi, I am a new user to iMac and have now bought just about every Mac product you can think of and have just taken delivery of an Apple TV and now want to stream photos but don't know how to transfer photos from my picture files over into my iPhotos for Photo Streaming. Is there an easy way? I have Mac for Dummies but they don't mention it there!! Guess it's too dummy for them!!! Any one out there can help me as I have loads of pics I would like to see on the big screen from time to time

You need to connect the Apple TV and the computer to the same network and then turn on "Home Sharing" in iTunes. Check boxes allow you to select what you want to share.
You'll see a "Computer" icon on the Apple TV and it holds all your music, movies and photos.

  • Open picture files and display in fullscreen slideshow?

I'm hoping for some help as I'm very new to LabView and quite lost....
I have a directory with many picture files (too many to put them all in
a powerpoint slideshow) and i want to open them one by one and display
them full screen with no border around them (not in a picture box, but
as displayed in a powerpoint slideshow).
I'm trying to use activeX to call the default "Preview" application for
windows, (which is able to run a slideshow when opened manually from
the directory).  In the LabView VI, when the slideshow runs, it
takes over the full screen, as it should, however, the images are not
shown.  The screen says "no preview available".  I've messed
around with it a lot and just can't get it to work.
Any other application or any other way of displaying the images full
screen would be acceptable, if you know of any.  I've also tried
the adobe acrobat browser 7.0, which has a full screen option, but i
can't seem to get that one to work either.  Attached is a copy of
    my code.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.  Thanx.

The easiest would be to set the window not to have toolbars, scrollbars, etc. and to fill the entire screen and to scale all objects with the windows (these can be found in 2 pages of the File>>VI Properties dialog). If you resize your FP so your picture indicators fills it before doing this then any resizing of the window will resize the indicator as well. You can then use the Zoom property to enlarge the picture. To calculate how much to zoom you can divide the size of the picture by the Application>>Display>>Primary Workspace property.
Another option would be to use property nodes to change the Draw Area Size of the picture to fill the screen and to resize the picture itself using something similar to the method demonstrated here.

  • Want to import from pictures file and wont let me

I am so so frustrated. I have so many problems using imovie.
I have a mac book pro latest update and leopard.
I don't import my pictures into aperture or iphoto because I can't find the photos after wards. They are imbedded into the program. So I always download into Bridge. I love bridge and photoshop. I don't use aperture to edit. I want more control. So I go to use imovie and it wont let me import from my pictures file. So i finally break down and import into aperture and now all the pictures are split up into a file each. WHYWHYWHY.? Why would it put a picture in each file. I have the file and then 78 subfiles with 1 picture each!!!!! That is so irritating. I tried to download from a camera archive and it didn't work either. This is why i don't use imovie hardly ever. It is just too difficult to get the pictures inthere and if i do put them in i can't find them on the hard drive.
    Frustrated

no, it is quite easy - you make it difficult.
and a Computer/program is much faster searching and finding files than you.
    I like the metaphor:
why naming the drawer, you put in files manually, instead of letting a machine find it for you? I can find a well-indexed/'tagged' pic-file much faster with iPhoto than any manual search ".. was it Sept/08 or Oct/08? Was it 'Vacations/Summers/Islands/Trees' or 'Backgrounds/Nature/Woods/' .. ? " ... tagged-fotos can re-arranged in split-seconds into new folders, new structures, new systems (aka Playlists, Albums, Events..) .. 'hardwired' folder-structures not.

  • Accessing picture files in finder when using iphoto

i'm using version 7.1 of iPhoto and i can't figure out how to see my photo files in the finder. the only option i have is to look at the entire iPhoto library. this becomes especially frustrating when trying to upload individual files.
i remember with the older versions of iPhoto you could directly access the photos from the finder. must i go through iPhoto to have access to these pictures? and when uploading to the internet can i not choose the individual files i want to upload via the finder?
    any and all help appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Congratulations, you've just asked the most asked question on the forum!
With iPhoto 7 the old iPhoto Library Folder has become a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There is never (nor ever was) a reason to go into the iPhoto Library Folder. There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS You can drag from either of these to the window of your Mail client.
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
All of these are faster and safer than surfing the iPhoto Library via the Finder.

  • Location of iPhoto picture files

Where exactly are the photo files stored within iPhoto?
I would like to copy them to an external drive.
    Thanks

when you import files from your camera i think that iphoto encrypts them
It doesn't. It doesn't change them in any way at all. It makes a byte-by-byte copy of them.
and put them in a single file
No. It puts them in folders based on the dates they are imported. These folders are stored in the iPhoto Library, a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. Want to look inside? Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
so they can't be seen anywhere else
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.

You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:

There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    3.*Show File*:
    a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
3.b. On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Locate picture files

Realize this is very basic, but am new ti iMac environment after decades of PC use.
Imported picture files from a CD which I am able to view in iPhoto, but I can't find the files lsted in a Finder window of the Macintosh HD.  I have looked in Pictures folder and in the Pictures folder under my username with no luck.  How do I find them so that I can delete, etc.?
    Thanks for any help.

You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits you make in Photoshop will show up in iPhoto.
Perhaps posting your email address on an internet forum is not such a good idea.

  • Where can the individual picture files be found in iPhoto 08?

Can't seem to find my individual photo .jpg files since upgrading to iPhoto 08. I used to be able to find them in the iPhoto folder located in Pictures but can't find this folder anymore since upgrading. There used to be folders located there with the originals and modified .jpg files. Where are they now?

I upgraded to Yosemite and now I have lost the ability to directly access my picture files via the Finder. There is now no longer a Picture icon in the Finder. Help, huge problem for me as I do a lot of picture editing via Photoshop Elements. I know the pics are still there as the Canon photo viewer shows them.

If you want that directory to be in the Finder sidebar, you can open Finder, then click Preferences on the menu named Finder and then click Sidebar in the Preferences window and put a checkmark in front of Pictures in the list of Favorites.
