Enlightenment 0.18.2-1 problems

After upgrading from e17 to enlightenment-0.18.2-1 there are few problems:
1. Icons from systray have disappeared. There are no more pidgin and gnubiff icons.
2. There was disabled composit mode and after upgrade fullscreen xterm becomes non-fulscreen after switching desktops. I have to switch on some animation to stay in fullscreen xterm after desktop switching.
Is any way to fix this behavior ?
B.t.w. Does enlightenment have an mail-check aplet the same with gnubiff (imap with ssl and IDLE or NOTIFY support) ? I need something like gnubiff but workable. Gnubiff seems to be dead project:-(.

There is a mail module as part of the e-extra-modules, but I've never used it. Worth a try.
1. Oh... You have save me a lot of time with "xembed" check-box. Thanks. Now gnubiff seems works more stable then before I switched xembed on.
2. I'm also not shure about it because I've translate it back to english from russian :-). So it can be composition mode or compositor mode or ... It is something like this: settingd -> screen -> virtual work places and here there is animation of <something (switching between work places)>. There are Blend, Diagonal, Grow, Pane and other variants. When I choose "Disable" then my fullscreen xterm becomes non-fulscreen when I switch back to work place with this fullscreened xterm -- it is annoying ...
Where can I find e-extra-modules ? There is no such package in AUR.

Regarding the wireless problem of my T60. Hope there is someone who can help me out. Thx.

I have read some of the posts and i found out that some of the Thinkpad users have the problem of unable to connect wireless network using Access Connection but not Window wireless network connection. For my case, i have connect the network with both of them. In fact, when i use either one to connect, the other would be connected too.
The problem is, sometimes when i use my wireless network, my wireless would be switched off automatically, and the wireless light is then off, and after that i cannot switched the wireless on again. I tried on it using access connection, failed. I tried Fn+F5 to on it, but no matter how many times i click on 'on', there would not be any response. The only thing i can do after this is to restart to laptop.
I called Lenovo Support to help me solve the problem, but still failed. The first time they asked me to installed some drivers and reinstall my Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. These files included 79uj29us which is a bios update, 7kwc50ww which is the wireless driver installation, 7tvu12ww which is the hotkey driver update, and last 7tku03ww, a power management driver update. But the problem remains. The 2nd time i called, they asked me to uninstall my Access Connection and use window wireless connection as they may cause conflict to each other, and they asked me to uncheck the option of 'Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power' in the power management of wireless drive in device manager, but problem persists. The last time i called the technician and he said they only can check if it is a hardware problem and there most probably be nothing else they can do for my softwares and drivers, and he also believed that it might be the network configuration of my service provider that cause the problem, but i personally do not think so as it is quite hard to believe that the my service is switching off my wireless hardware and i have other laptop in my house too but they do not experience this problem.
Last night i discovered something new, when the wireless is off automatically again, i ran a test on the the wireless device using PC Doctor, for PCI express status test, it passed, for the wireless connectivity and signal strength test, results showed there was 'no connection', when it comes to network link test, it showed 'internal error', the TCP/IP network connection test showed failed. Then i restarted it and ran the test with the wireless switched off by my self, the PCI express status test passed too, but the remaining four test all showed 'no connection'.
I really hope if there is someone there to help me out to solve the problem or to enlighten me what the real problem is, could it be software or hardware problem, or could it be other problems like registry or what? I greatly appreciate if anyone can help me to solve this. Thanks alot.

I have uninstalled my Access Connection, but this problem seems to persist. IBM technician have changed the wireless card of my T60, the first few days after it was changed was very fine, no problem at all. About a week later, the problem occured again, and it happened quite frequently after that occurence. Now i really have no idea what is the cause and how to solve it. Will be greatful if there is anyone that can help me.

Yellow Pages and Traslator Widget Problems

Hi All,
This is my first post and I moved over to the Mini about 6 weeks ago. I was wondering if anybody else is experiencing problems with widgets. Weather is working fine but neither the Translator or Yellow Pages is working. I'm based in London and I've tried both my postcode and city in Yellow pages but it won't locate anything. The translator basically won't translate anything at all. I upgraded to Tiger 10.4.3 about three weeks ago and all is working fine for everything else. Any suggestions?

just discovered my yellow pages was not working either.... had thought it was just translator.... considering you have experienced this problem for a couple weeks now... i am starting to be more concerned...... apple is screwing something up..... please enlighten if you have resolved problem.....

Enlightenment crashes on startup

I type
xinit /usr/bin/enlightenment_start
and the moment it starts, if I'm lucky it tells me
This is very bad. Enlightenment SIGABRT'D.
Otherwise it just freezes.
It asks me if I want to recover or exit. If I recover, it will sometimes ask me again, recover or exit. After recovering for the second time it turns off all its "modules" and gives me a module selection menu. When navigating some menus it will crash at certain times, for example, if I hover my cursor over "send to desktop ->" for a window.
In the meantime, xfce runs flawlessly, so it can't be an x11 error.
I don't know if there's an appropriate log file to post, I couldn't find any.
I know e17 is pre-alpha, but people say it's very stable regardless.

What do you mean by "choke". Do you mean it hangs when starting Enlightenment or that it boots up slower? Are people using Enlightenment DR16 also having this problem? Is it a problem with the e17 desktop shell, or just a problem with the window manager

Audio Driver Problems on G710

Hello.
I've been having a problem with a very quiet microphone for some time now, I even had an issue of having to open up the IDT control panel and restart the boost microphone option for it to even work. I followed this thread, however, I got stuck on one particular step. After I click on update driver on microphone, stereo mix or speakers, I can't seem to select the new 6.10.6490.0 from C:/Drivers/IDT Audio Driver folder, Windows just says that it determined that the driver is correct and writes up something about AudioEndpoint.inf that it's set up as the driver. I'm looking for the file now, hoping to manage to temporarily disable it. I also can't see any other options when I pick from a list of installed drivers on driver update tab, other than AudioEndpoint and Generic Software Driver. Running Win 8.1 64bit on Lenovo G710.
Would you please enlighten what could be the problem for me? Thank you very much
EDIT: Now I have an even bigger problem. I experimented with different IDT driver versions (newer ones), but now when I try to install the recommended 6.10.6490.0 from the support website, it says my hardware is not compatible with that package. I've been trying to look for what it could have changed when I installed the different versions but no luck. Is anyone able to help me with this?

More than one way to do this. What works for me is to use "Update Driver" path, then when prompted choose file to update from and broswe to the file or driver that was downloaded to update it.
Also - you can reboot in "safe mode", uninstall the driver from the control panel app, then install the correct drivers from download.

SRM Release Order

Please can someone enlighten me on the following problem.
I am creating a Cart with a contract in SRM in ECS scenario but even though contract is be determined automatically, it is creating a PO and not release order. Why is this?
My team have maintained number ranges in SRM core and SAP backend for Release Orders/

Hi Vijay,
In this case it is a local contract being referenced. The PO generated is a Release order only. You go to Contract Management -> evaluation purchase order per contract , there give your contract number it will show how much of the contract is utilised. Please do this before creating a shopping cart and after that . Release order quantity will increase by the shopping cart quantity.

Soft-Proofing issue

I'm having hard time understanding soft-proofing even if I watched the video softproofing video. I turned S-P on for a bright and vivid image, create a virtual copy, set target colorspace to sRGB. It tells me that some colors are too saturated so I select them and reduce them until the RED goes away. It now gives me a poor copy of the original (dull colors). How come, when I export my image as .jpeg with a sRGB color profile, my target jpeg is identical to my untouched RAW file.
I thought the goal of soft-proofing was to make sure that I can emulate the limitation of a target color profile (like sRGB). In my case, if my colors in the jpeg export are identical to my RAW image, how come LR shows them as too saturated?

First, the OOG isn’t accurate. See the other thread here on soft proofing. If I export data as sRGB from LR, re import it and ask to see Out Of Gamut (OOG) overlay for that space, some OOG still shows up. It should not. It doesn’t when you do the same operation in Photoshop.
But the real use here is to show you what colors are in the LR color space (Melissa RGB) that can’t be reproduced on any device based on any profile. So it is useful to some degree. But in the end, there isn’t anything you can do about it IF you decide to convert to that output space. You view something soft proofed in sRGB and there is an ugly red overlay. You are going to convert to sRGB so colors are going to clip as a result. In my video, I illustrate it is simply educational, and easier to simply let the profile do it’s thing and convert to a smaller color space (because that is what you need). You could screw around and attempt to do this manually with HSL or other controls, but the net results are not as good and just take longer. So use the OOG overlay with some care and don’t be overall alarmed. Taking wide gamut data and funneling it into a smaller gamut is just something we have to do.

Diagonal lines appearing on MacBook Pro screen

I can't seem to find any pattern to this happening, but every so often one of the windows in the foreground after being moved or resized will appear with diagonal black and white stripes. The desktop remains fine, it is just the window in the forgeground. Usually moving the window again or resizing will temporarily fix the problem. But once it starts it usually affects multiple applications. Safari seems fine, but some other programs I can't even scroll without it happening. A reboot or even logging in/out seems to fix it.
Another thing I noticed is that when this is happening is that if I take a screenshot the image shows up as the entire screenshot. Until I reboot or log out/in, I can't take any screenshots of anything but this image. Here is the screenshot:

I don't know if this happens on both video cards, since I usually only run the 9400 and the issue is not very frequent. I'm thinking this might be a hardware issue with the video card, but wanted to see if anyone else had seen this.

It's also possible that you have an intermittent problem with the display that may not be tested with the AHT. It's hard to tell when it's so intermittent, but if you have an external display, you might see if it ever occurs on that.
Are you under warranty? If so, at least report the problem to Apple and ask for a case number. That way you will be able to establish that the problem first occurred under warranty. If your warranty runs out, and the problem suddenly gets bad enough that you can show it to someone, you will have established that it started under warranty. Apple has the enlightened policy that if a problem first occurs under warranty, they will honor the warranty until the problem is fixed, even if the warranty has run out.
Doing the fresh install of Leopard is the right thing to do to rule out software as a possible cause.
If this is a hardware problem, it will likely get worse over time. In the meantime, you might take note of what you were doing when it occurs--like if the computer was hot or something like that. If you can determine what triggers the stripes, you will be able to show it to someone.

Early start of progressive video?

Using CS5 Master Collection.
I encoded a video into a 30mb FLV using AME out of PPro and then created a swf with Flash using a standard player skin to get the full-screen option that seems not to be available in the DW skins. This all works fine locally when tested in an HTML page using the code provided by Flash.
When uploaded to the web server, there is a long delay whilst the whole video file downloads before replay starts.
Two years ago when last I did this I was using an earlier version of the software and seem to recall that there was a parameter to start replay much earlier than this. But I can't find it in CS5.
I've tried playerID.bufferTime = 10 in the AS3 code inside the SWF to no effect.
How can I persuade the video to start playing much more quickly without waiting for the full download to complete?

I'd say the problem is in the .flv... or perhaps it's a f4v (the flash version of an mp4).
there is a long delay whilst the whole video file downloads before replay starts.
This means that the file is not being progressively downloaded, so buffer time has no meaning or effect.
Your problem sounds just like the MOOV ATOM problem often experienced with QuickTime mp4 files. The "movie atom" index which carries the file size into is at the very end of the file, preventing progressive downloading. The solution for that issue is to swap the MA from the very back of the file to the front.

Alittle Help p10946u Wireless Keyboard, Treo 700p

I bought a Palm 700p, it came with the p10946u Wireless Keyboard, without the CD. So I went on the Palm website and tried downloading the driver, and when it asked me to select my device, I didn't see the 700p. Is the keyboard not compatible with my phone?

I sympathise with you on finding difficulty in pairing the apple wireless keyboard with other equipment. I have found it impossible to pair my new apple aluminium wireless keyboard with my Nokia N96. I thought, mistakenly obviously, that all bluetooth equipment could interlink.
Can anyone enlighten me on these pairing problems please?

Sun corba service set time out

Hi im coding a corba client service using sun default library(without using any 3rd lib. e.g jacorb /visibroker). Is there anyway to set client timeout. This is to solve when server is down then my client won't hog the thread and keep the connection active. As of now if the host is down, i will wait forever, the timeout from sun is very unconsistence

Clean install for macbook pro

Hello, I purchased a MacBook Pro 8,1 with i5 recently and I had to buy used. It was running Snow Leopard (no disk came with it) but I had upgraded all way to Yosemite. I contacted Apple support and was sent white Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD. At bottom it says replacement DVD not for resale. This is my first taste of Apple products and really haven't grasp how things are done compared to the many years on a Window machine. Anyway I was in disk utility and I erased some stuff I shouldn't have I think. When I put DVD in Superdrive and boot up I get a white screen only. If I depress the "C" while powering up, I get to the Apple logo then to screen with big power button icon that's says I need to restart. Hold down the power button until it turns off in 5 languages. If I depress "option" when powering up I have "choose network" then above that I can pick my installation DVD. When I choose network I'm advanced 1 screen to right to put in password. I'm then back to left to select install DVD. It then shows me Apple logo then the shutdown screen.. Someone please enlighten me on fixing this problem....

No, when holding down option key it takes me to "CHOOSE NETWORK" and with the install disk above it. I pick my wifi and type my password but when I select the dvd it shows the apple logo then back to the restart screen. The only thing I'm guilty of was getting delete/erase happy while in disk utilities prior to this mess. I do know the macbook HD was deleted but shouldn't the dvd be my safety net? I should always be able to boot and install from that right? I here's weird fact, what should be listed on that snow leopard dvd if I opened it up in my windows laptop?

Samba connection issues

Well, at some point, it would appear that my Samba shares stopped being available. If I attempt to navigate from my laptop to the share, I just keep getting challanged for a username/password. When I look through my samba.log file, all I am seeing is this error:

I am going to assume that something broke on one of the updates since I had this working for quite some time before the last few weeks. I did a quick Google search and see some issues posted in the Ubuntu forums, but no real answers.

Yeah I'm seeing both that error, and I have also started getting an error that looks like it's related to some ipv6 issues:
Matchname failed on x.y.z ::ffff:192.168.1.1
I tried everything, connecting from various windows based pc's, but I kept getting that error. Tried disabling ipv6, but that just resulted in silent errors. I also keep getting challenged for username/password, and get the above error.
For now I have compiled my own samba, which I run out of /usr/local. I hope someone can enlighten me/us on this problem, since my samba has been running for years through multiple arch-updates, and now brutally stopped.
Could it be ipv6 DNS issues? I run my own DNS.

I have just installed arch on my laptop linux works great and all the fans wook :twisted: thats the good thing. The bad thing is whenever i do startx i get a blank screen :cry: and my comp freezes (im using the newest nvidia drivers and xorg) (i tryed runnin gnome and enlightenment) I remember having this problem before but cant remember what i did Does anyone have anyclue why its freezen? Maybe i forgot something in the kernel(2.6.10)?

Slow blinking caps lock, blank screen

Only had this laptop for a week now, powered it up this morning, hard drive appears to run, fan is on but LCD screen stays dark and the caps lock is slow blinking (no apparent pattern).

Also, I tried removing the keyboard (after the fact) and the video instructions, located here: http://h20574.www2.hp.com/results.htm?SID=5059088&MEID=FAA31BDC-56B6-472D-BA7B-4295B0216628 seem incorrect.
The instructions state to remove 1 5mm P1 screw, then press down with a probe tool in the hole indicated. All I ended up doing with pushing out the "insert" key. I can slightly lift that top side of the keyboard but there is definitely something locking down the keyboard around speaker mute/speaker + function keys.
Can anyone enlighten me about these two problems?

You will need to search Google or YouTube. Even then, you probably wont find the exact model you have. Most keyboard are lastly connected with a very fragile ribbon connector. Its usually 'locked' in with a sliding plastic piece right where the ribbon meets the motherboard.
Again, search YouTube for a comparable video. It might help. Not sure what your inital issue is with the capslock-only blinking, but they do have a code search somewhere on this site. Search for 'laptop diagnostic codes' and you should find something that might explain what its doing.
