Enough memory to run parallels + W7

Hi,
I'd like to know if there is enough RAM on a MB Air in order to run properly a VM like Parallels win W7 / Office 2010 + some Win Applications?

4 GB (assuming this is what you've got) should be enough for light Windows 7 work. Don't expect miracles though.
Think about it as Windows 7 with 2.5 GB of memory.
You should however have no problems booting up to Windows 7 via BootCamp, where you get to enjoy all of 4 GB of RAM. You can still casualy run BootCamp partition via Parallels in virtual enviroinment for casual Windows usage.
What I would recommend, if it's an option, to virtualize Windows XP. I do that for some of my old software. It's memory requirments and disk footprint is much lower, so let me do a lot of Windows stuff without slowdowns.

Is it a 64bit processor?
Do you have a SLES 9 installation CD handy? If so, try booting from it to
see if you get the same error.

Hi All,
I have windows 7 SP1 64 bit machine with 8 GB of RAM. and have office 365 pro plus installed on it. I use windows explorer preview pane a lot and suddenly it has stopped working. Whenever I click on any excel, power-point, word file with the preview pane
enabled it gives me the error as below:
for Excel: Not enough memory to run Microsoft Excel. Please close other applications and try again.
For Power point: there is not enough memory or system resources to start power point.
However the file opens fine when I double click it. I have tried the following"
1. Repaired, re-installed office 365 pro plus.
2. Disabled, enabled and changed virtual memory page file size. It did not make any difference.
3. Have verified folder and search options and they are fine for the preview pane.
Is there anything we can do about it?

Since we were unable to reproduce in my test machine, we were unable to determine the root cause of the problem. This seems to be happening when Windows is trying instantiate the Office application for the preview in the Preview pane, if the repair
Office still doesn't work, we might turn our mind onto Windows OS level.
Here is my suggestion:
1. Disable all of security programs or Anti-virus on that machine.
2. Disable DEP.
3. If you installed any video or graphic codec programs, please temporary to remove them to check the result.

The issue does not happen if we navigate to the same file via the File > Open dialog.

Not enough memory to run iTunes???!!!

I just ran the Software Update to get iTunes 7 and the latest version of Quicktime. I restarted after the instalation and was able to open iTunes and it ran famously. I really enjoy the changes. I decided that with the new artwork features I should clean up my library and add to the artwork I already had so I got a few more album covers and also got rid of some duplicates I had lingering in my library. After I did that for a little while I quit iTunes to go do other things but when I came back to my computer to listen to some music I got the following mesasge: "The iTunes application could not be opened. There is not enough memory available." I highly doubt that this could be because I have 768 MB RAM installed on my computer. I tried restarting and that didn't work. I even tried quitting all applications and closed every widget in Dashboard, yet I still got the same message. I am clueless, please help.

758mb should be enough to run Tiger, but I try to not let my computer get down below about a gig of memory. If I do I get a similar message and programs start to become too taxing on the computer.
I think by updating your album art you may have pushed it...I'd try deleting some files, free up some space, and see where it takes you.

ITunes - not enough memory to run this program [Solution]

After upgrading to iTunes 7, if you install UNO - Unified GUI and use any option apart from 'Default Aqua' under the iTunes GUI choice you will get this error.
Note this does not make a difference if you have already modded the itunes GUI using UNO and upgrade, only if you run UNO after installing iTunes 7.
Just had this problem myself, took a couple of minutes to realise why it happened.
Solution: re run UNO revert to default Aqua for iTunes, and reinstall iTunes.

in my case i have no UNO installed on my machine but i get this error when i tried to run itunes 7 for the first time since i upgraded

Does any one have the same problem trying to work with Nikon D800 large files (50MB !) and Camera RAW ??
Even with one image opend when I click Done I get a message Bridge is low on memory - Restart. Also the tumbnails preview and full scree becomes blank!

Could you provide more details about your configuration?
This info can't be right, CS5 comes with ACR 6.7 and Windows XP needs at least servicepack 3 to my knowledge.
4 GB RAM might be sufficient but is not much, do you have also the 64 bit installation?
And did you reset the preferences for Bridge also.
Maybe Curt hops in, I am a Mac user and don't know very much about Windows I'm afraid

"Not enough memory" with MS Starforce MX (GF2 MX400D-T64)

I just installed an MX400D-T64 video card into my system (Win98). Now when I try to open the MS-DOS prompt I receive the message:
"There is not enough memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs and try again."
Doesn't matter if I re-boot, have no other programs open, etc.
So far, everything else seems to work. Is there a setting I can change to keep the video card from grabbing all the memory (512MB in the system)? I would hate to not be able to play Rogue any more! :- (

if you played your game fine before then try removeing the drivers and useing using the drivers from nVidia's site

I am interested in buying the new released MBA but I was wondering if the new machine has enough power to run parallels.

Yes it will run parallels, even the old model will run parallels. The only limitation in the past was hard drive space. The only current limitation is the amount of RAM available.

i just bought this hp pavillion and installed adobe illustrator 9.
now it says not enough memory to run the program. this comp has been slow since i started it up. it has 4 gig memory. can that be the problem ?

PowerOn Failed : Result - failed:errcode=20000, errmsg=No enough memory

When I tried to start a VM from ovm manager I get this message 'PowerOn Failed : Result - failed:errcode=20000, errmsg=No enough memory to run vm'
As per this document (https://communities.oracle.com/portal/server.pt/community/view_document/217?docID=198299) I have tried these commands to increase memory
[root@ovm-rac-exp01 ~]# xm info | grep -E '^free_memory'
free_memory : 15590
[root@ovm-rac-exp01 ~]# /opt/ovs-agent-2.3/db/db_kv.py srv ovm-rac-exp01 -t int -f mem_free 15590
old: ovm-rac-exp01 => 0
new: ovm-rac-exp01 => 15590
but after a few seconds mem_free returns to 0
How can I set the mem_free parameter ?

* The OVM server (2.2.2) in my test lab has 8GB physical memory with 563MB assigned to Dom0 per GRUB config: kernel /xen-64bit.gz dom0_mem=563M
* When attempting to start a single Windows 2008 (HVM) VM, allocated 1024MB, and with no other guest VM on the system I see the following in /var/log/ovs-agent/ovs_root.log:

What does it mean when there isn't enough room to run a program?

My desktop tends to go blank and when I try to open programs such as Excel or Word a message comes up saying there isn't enough memory to run. Anyone know what could fix this? Also I opened iPhoto and it asked if i wanted to open iPhoto or iPhoto, not knowing the difference, I picked the first one and almost all of my photos were gone.

there are a couple of ways to fix this.
1) run less applications at one time, meaning make sure they are truly closed and not just off.
2) get a ram upgrade. this can be done by yourself or by taking it to an apple store.

Thanks for the clarification on the terms. I consider myself proficent at my computer, but not exactly in its inner-workings! I have 8 GB of memory installed.
I am still confused as to why I do not have any space for the program. This is the exact error message I get: "There is not enough free space on Macintosh HD disk. The Print Shop 2 application requires about 550 MB to be installed. Free some disk space and try again."

Tried to sync my 5c on itunes but my daughter was logged in and now all her contacts, apps, and messages etc are on my phone. I was in the process of trying to run a backup because there was not enough memory for my phone to perform it. Help!!

I was in the process of syncing my iphone 5c and then wanting to do a backup through iTunes because my phone did not have enough memory to backup. When I connected the phone to my computer and pulled up Itunes I thought I was logged into Itunes (my name was showing) but apparently my daughter had used and logged into itunes. Needless to say it started to sync and now my phone has all of her contacts, messages, apps etc. I followed what had been previously posted :

You should use separate Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime. These services are separate from iTunes.
Create a new Apple ID > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ -- Note: You need a verified email address
On one of the devices go:
Settings > iCloud > (Scroll Down) Delete Account > Sign in with the new Apple ID -- Note: This only affects the device
Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Apple ID > Sign Out > Sign in with the new Apple ID
Settings > FaceTime > Apple ID > Sign Out > Sign in with the new Apple ID
This will separate your iCloud content (i.e. Contacts, Notes, Reminders etc.), Messages and FaceTime.
You both can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes and share purchased Apps, Music and Movies

Hi all,
I am running into an issue with OfficeXP SP3 that has been virtualized using ZAV 8.0.1 and registered using the msi method. First, when you try to open a document from a web browser (Firefox in my case) it will open the downloads window and show the file but never launch the virtualized Office. Then if you try double-clicking on the document in the downloads window, nothing happens. If you open the folder that the document was saved to and double-click on it nothing happens. If you go into open with and choose the virtualized officexp it gives this error: "There is not enough free memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again."
Now here is the really odd thing, you can double-click on a word/excel/etc document in MyDocuments, a network drive, anywhere and it will open the appropriate officexp application just fine. I will also mention that firefox is virtualized as well but the same process works fine with openoffice.org.
This also happens if you choose to save the file to a specific location. It cannot be opened. However I just discovered that if you move it to somewhere else, say the desktop, it will open just fine.
Anyone have an idea what might be causing this issue? Is it somehow related to the sandbox?

Look in the class section of the registry for the FF virt app... See if some of the same extentions are in there.
I would guess that FF has its own file associations for those document types and that is whats failing.
If you remove the file association conents (but leave the folder and set isoation to writecopy) then the FF virt should be able to view and use the workstation file associations for the virt XP.
