The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required.

I don't know if I'm on the same page as you.
But if you backed up the phone with those contacts pictures notes etc, you should get them back.
After restoring your phone, use the back up that done when you had those contacts messages etc??

  • When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.

    Problem:
When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.
Any help that you can provide in helping my iPhone accurately sync with iPhoto and iTunes will be greatly appreciated.
    Symptoms:
    1)   Sync:  It’s not completing the sync.  Below, I’ve provided all of my settings from the iTunes Summary tab so that you might tell me if I’ve selected any incorrect options.  I prefer to sync the “old school” way – by connecting to the computer – as opposed to syncing over the cloud. Perhaps this is what’s causing the problem? Here is a list of the steps displayed in the iTunes window as the sync progresses:
waiting for sync to start (step 1 of 7)
backing up (step 2 of 7)
preparing to sync (step 3 of 7)
determining apps to sync (step 4 of 7)
preparing apps to sync (step 5 of 7)
importing photos (step 6 of 7)
waiting for changes to be applied (step 7 of 7)
syncing apps / copying 1 of 4 (App name) (step 7 of 7)
    canceling sync
    apple icon
    2)   Photos: I've selected only certain of my iPhoto albums to sync to my iPhone.  All of the albums are correct/complete in iPhoto.  All of the albums are listed on my iPhone, both before and after the sync, but the albums are empty (no actual photos) before and after the sync. Perhaps this is tied to the fact that the sync isn’t completing, but because “importing photos” is one of the steps that the incomplete sync displays, I don’t know.
    3)   Apps: When I launch iTunes and click on the Apps folder under the Library listing, then click on the Updates tab, iTunes searches for any Apps needing to be updated and provides a list.  If I click on Update All, the Apps are successfully updated in iTunes.  But, when I plug in my iPhone so that the updates will transfer to the apps on my iPhone, the updates don’t transfer to the apps on my iPhone and those apps still reflect that they need updating on the iPhone.
    Other Potential Pertinent Info:
The flash memory hard drive on my MacBook Air recently died (perhaps a month or two ago).  Apple had emailed me about a known issue and literally the next day, my MacBook Air crashed.  I installed a new flash memory drive and re-installed everything from a backup off of an external hard drive.  Everything seems to be working fine; it recreated accurately all of my software and data, including iPhoto and iTunes, the pictures and songs (respectively) for which are stored on that hard drive, as opposed to being on the flash memory in the MacBook Air itself.  However, I don’t recall if the start of the sync problem described herein started happening at the same time that I replaced the flash memory drive.  All I know is that the computer is working perfectly in all respects and that even as the sync is failing, it at least says that it’s doing the right things and looking in the right places (e.g., the list of albums on my iPhone matches the list of albums in iTunes, etc.).
    Settings/Status:
    MacBook Air
    OSX v. 10.9
    iPhoto ’11 v. 9.5 (902.7)
    iPhone iOS 7.0.4
    iTunes v. 11.1.3 (8)
    Summary Tab
    Backups (This Computer)
    Options
Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected
Sync only checked songs and videos
    Photos Tab
Sync Photos from iPhoto (429 Photos)
Selected albums, Events, and Faces, and automatically include (no Events)
    Albums – 9 are selected

You need to download iTunes on your computer. iOS 6 requires the latest version of iTunes which is 10.7.

  • HT1535 Two Macs; one iTunes account--why can't I move music to my iPhone from either machine?

I have 2 macs--a MacBook Pro and an iMac. I have ONE Apple ID (iTunes ID) that is registered on both machines. I used to sync my iPhone from the iMac, but now the iMac is in storage. I want to move some music from my MacBook to my iPhone and it wont let me...something about only being allowed to be synced to one iTunes library. It would erase everything on my phone if I wanted to add anything from my MacBook's iTunes library. Why isnt it the same iTunes library--it has the same iTunes ID/Apple ID? Is there a solution to this that isnt really annoying and redundant (like mirroring my two computers' library)?
This cannot be the first time someone has had this issue and Apple hasnt addressed it?

    mrvangogh wrote:

Each iTunes library has a unique ID.
Easiest way to do what you want is to use Home Sharing and copy the files from your MacBook to your  iMac then sync the phone to the iMac.

  • How can i detach my iphone from my itunes (NOT from my apple ID)

how can i detach my iphone from my itunes (NOT from my apple ID)

    Hello Laurien123,
Can you tell me a little more about your situation?  I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish.   You authorize your computer to sync or download iTunes; you associate your iPhone with your Apple ID, not with iTunes.
Please reply if you can with a little more information, and I'll do what I can to help.
Authorize your computer in iTunes - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201251
Do I need to authorize my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch?
No. You don’t need to authorize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but you do need to associate your iOS devices with your Apple ID. Your iOS devices don’t use your available authorizations.
    Have a great day!

  • How can I restore my iPhone from a different backup?

Okay I don't know if this is possible, but it would really make my life easier if someone knew how to do this.
My old iPhone was named Joe's iPhone. It had all my contacts, pics, apps, everything. That phone broke and my Mom gave me her old iPhone, both are 3g. So on my computer I obviously had sync'd my old phone (Joe's iPhone) and backed it up. Can I restore my Moms phone and boot it up with my old backup so I'll have all my contacts? I've tried restoring it, but I also backed up my Mom's phone on my computer so whenever I restore it, it just comes back with all her contacts. I want to chose to restore from my old phone backup.
Is this possible? Can anyone walk me through doing that?

    Hi Joe,
Just right-click on the iPhone(on the left side of iTunes, under Devices) and then choose Restore from Backup. Then choose the backup that has the date and name of your previous phone.

You can't get it reset; if you could there would be no point in having it. If you have an encrypted backup there are two ways this could have happened:
You checked "Encrypt Backup" in iTunes at some time in the past, either intentionally or by accident
You have a corporate MS Exchange account and your Exchange administrator installed a security profile on your phone that requires the phone'a contents to be encrypted. This, in turn, requires the backup to be encrypted for obvious reasons.
In either case you were prompted for a password the first time you backed up after whichever of these happened. So think about what you might have entered for a password at that time. Fortunately you get an unlimited number of tries. Other threads on this subject have shown that it is always a password known to the user, so it wasn't something made up by iTunes. Also, everyone who has figured it out has found it to be a different password type, so try your Apple ID password, your computer's login password, your WiFi password, your corporate domain password, etc. And try passwords that may have been changed since your first backup. As a last resort there is a professional password cracker available, but it isn't cheap - it's targeted at the law enforcement market - from Elcomsoft. There are also some scam password crackers available that don't actually work and possibly steal your information. It's likely that a developer of one or more of these will post a response with a link (possibly hidden) to their "product". So before clicking any links you might want to install the Web of Trust plugin that keeps track of scam sites and warns you. http://www.mywot.com.

  • Blue screen of death when disconnecting iPhone from computer

So I bought the iPhone and even though I own a Mac I decided to connect it to my work PC which happens to run Windows XP. Everything worked great until I took a picture with the iPhone. As soon as I connected the iPhone, the computer crashed with a blue screen of death. So I looked it up on the forums here and found the article that talks about what COULD be the issue. What Apple is saying with that article basiclly is that this is "your" problem and not theirs so good luck trying to find which one of the 50 drivers that I have on my machine causes the issue. I tried to fix it by updating the drivers that they recommend and the problem is still there. Fine, I will not take pictures with the iPhone.
And then yesterday out of the blue (no pun intended) iTunes gave me an error message when I connected the iPhone, I didn't pay any attention to it and dismissed it only to find out that now every time I remove the iPhone from the computer, it crashes it with a blue screen of death. So now I can't sync the iPhone at all! How much more unsaved work am I going to loss because of this product?
On a personal note, I am a huge fan of Apple's products but I am extremely upset about this. Not only did Apple create a sloppy software implementation, they are making it look like it's a Windows problem. None of the other products that are installed on my machine cause my computer to crash like that, and if I do have an outdated driver (which I doubt!) then the developers of those products have found a way to deal with them WITHOUT crashing!
    Please advise

ok. first I couldn't log in with my previous nickname (not sure why) so I created a new one. Anyways, thank you for your reply and I'm sorry for coming off like jack it's just that losing your data three times will do that to you. I will tunnel my anger back at Microsoft I guess.
In any event, I went back and took a look at my drivers and didn't find any Lexmark or Logitec in there, however I decided to remove the built-in camera driver that came with the laptop and that seemed to work (it turns out that Logitec makes that camera!). I also moved the USB cable to a different port on the computer and now I don't get the blue screen when I disconnect the iPhone.
Thanks again for your help, it seems like I am safely syncing again
p.s. since I can't log in as the original author you might want to have a mod mark the question as answered. thanks.

  • I can no longer manually add music to my iPhone from iTunes; what happened?

Recently I have been unable to add new music to my iPhone from iTunes. I used to be able to just select the songs I wanted, then drag and drop them onto to the phone by hovering over the iPhone icon. Now I get a crossed-out circle icon when I try to do this. Why is this happening, and how can I work around it? I'm pretty frustrated, as you can imagine!

Thanks for the judgmental response, Dave. My favorite part was where you told me how to manage the space on my computer. My second favorite part was when you accused me to stealing music.
I have only synced my iPhone with one computer and its iTunes library. I download music legally to that computer, from mixtape sites, Bandcamp, Amazon and---GASP---other none iTunes sites, load it onto my iPhone, then delete some of it, because I don't listen to music on my computer. I listen to it on a device I purchased to play it. That device is called an iPhone. It's supposed to play mp3s.
    Have I blown your mind?
But if I am hearing you right, you are telling me the iPhone is literally the only mp3 player in existence that doesn't and shouldn't have the basic functionality to have new mp3s loaded to it from a single authorized computer. That I should be happy now that I cannot load new music onto it, and I should just live with the music that I have already loaded, since I can't load anymore.
And that I should be happy that this basic functionality that, until the most recent software update, I have always had has magically disappeared.
How foolish it was of me to be upset about this! Thank you for showing me the light, Dave.

  • Moving iPhone from Mac to PC

    Hello there,
I hope you can help me!
I want to move my iphone from my very old macbook to my pc, the slight complication is that I want to merge my mac itunes library with my pc itunes library.  So far I have moved all of my stuff from my mac to my pc using Home Sharing in itunes.  I have located the iphone backup on my mac and have trnsferred it to the correct folder on my pc.
My question is: Is that sufficient to now sync my iphone with my pc?  I am not particularly worried about the music, videos, etc but the contacts and settings on the iphone.  I can re-add the small amount of music another time. Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    MrsHazy

It's not a problem. The iphone really does not care what computer it is connected to. Also, you can log into your itunes account from any computer that has itunes on it.
You need to move your library to your new computer.
    This article will help
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
Then once your library is moved, find one of your purchased songs and try to play. It will ask you to authorize this computer. Click yes and it will ask you for your account name and password. You can have up to 5 computers authorized at one time.
If you want to de-authorize your old computer, click on store at the top of itunes can click de-authorize. It will ask you for your account name and password.

  • I recently received my new iPhone 4 from my carrier since my old one was stolen. I restored my new iPhone from my old iPhones iCloud back up but now all the pictures that were stored in my old phone are blurry in my new phone. Please help!

Luckily, using the "Find My iPhone" app, I was able to scare the thieves into bringing my iPhone back to the place they stole it from (Dave and Busters..on my BIRTHDAY OF ALL DAYS). So now, $169 later (deductible for replacement iPhone), I have both my 1st iPhone and my replacement. On my first iPhone, I have all of my pictures saved and they are very clear, but when I restored my replacement iPhone from my original iPhones iCloud backup, all the pictures that I took in my original iPhone are blurry! I thought about backing up my original iPhone through iTunes and then resetting my replacement iPhone and restoring it from my original iPhones settings but I dont want to lose all of my new pictures I took. I know this sounds confusing (well, it looks confusing, since you cant actually hear me) but I could use all the help I can get!

No such thing has occurred.  iPhones do not backup to one another.
It is not possible to backup a different iPhone from the one being updated.
If the iPhone was restored with a backup from a different device, restore it again from the correct backup.

Pay attention when restoring the iPhone and select the correct backup to restore from.
