I'm planning to get an iphone3g in hongkong since there is selling unlocked iphone...
But i've seen an article talk about the rule of using the official unlocked iphone which is
*"Once the SIM is installed, the handset must be synced to iTunes, which will then automatically lock the handset to that carrier for the rest of its un-hacked life"*
Can somebody who has bought the iphone3g in hk tell me is that real?

I saw the word "hacked" in your original post not playing enough attention to "un" being included with it.
My response about syncing with iTunes applies regardless.
Not when syncing an iPhone with iTunes. In order to transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library to an iPhone, syncing the iPhone with iTunes is required, and the same for transferred photos from an computer to an iPhone. You can sync contact info and calendar events with a supported application on your computer with iTunes serving as the sync conduit for this data.
Syncing an iPhone with iTunes cannot automatically lock an official unlocked iPhone to any carrier, but installing a firmware update or restoring such an iPhone with iTunes if needed or wanted can.
Apple's warranty for the iPhone is honored in the country where the iPhone was purchased, which also includes support. If you are in the U.S. and a problem develops with such an iPhone that is covered under warranty, AppleCare or Apple in the U.S. will not help you. You or your iPhone must return to Hong Kong for an exchange under warrant if required. And support for such an iPhone will likely come from the designated provider in Hong Kong that is selling the iPhone as officially unlocked.

What number are you calling and at what times? AFAIK, the sales and support are different departments and have different contact numbers, further lenovo sells the products and IBM provides the support.

Has anyone purchased the iPhone 4 full retail price?

I'm currently thinking about purchasing the iPhone at the unsubsidized price which is $700 for the 32GB iPhone 4. But my upgrade is available until May 8 of this year.
I'm a kinda impatient person but working on being patient but I really do want the iPhone.
Has anyone bought the iPhone 4 at a unsubsidized price or was it subsidized?
I'm on a family plan also and my sister line (primary) and my mother line (month to month non contract) is available for upgrade. I can use those I hope...

Many people on here have bought the iPhone at the full retail price because their upgrade wasn't up yet. In your situation, I would advise you to wait until May 8th, it's a lot closer than most people's and it's a substantial discount when you wait. You'll save $400. Or as you've pointed out, you can use your sister's or mother's upgrades right now if they don't mind, and then whoever's upgrade you take can use yours on May 8th. That would also be a very good choice, rather than purchasing the full retail iPhone.

It sounds like there is an issue with the audiobook you purchased from iTunes. I recommend following the steps in the following article to report this to the iTunes Store:
To report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBookstore purchase, follow these steps:
Find the email receipt for your purchase.
Click Report a Problem under the app that is having the issue.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having an issue with.
From the Choose Problem dropdown menu, choose the appropriate issue.
Follow the onscreen instructions and—if prompted—type a description of the problem into the text field.
Click Submit to have your issue reviewed.

No. The warranty is only valid in the country where the phone was originally sold. You will have to take it back to the US or send it to someone you know there to take it in for service.

The nano SIM should come with the phone if you set it up with a carrier.
If you purchased an unlocked phone, you'll have to contact your carrier to get a nano sim card.

Requirements for WhatsApp are iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

Seeking advice - Walk-in purchase of iphone 4?

Hi All,
I currently own the iphone 3G and when I got it, I waited in line at my local AT&T store for a couple of hours and ended up having to order it, but received it in a few days. That being said, I haven't had much too much experience with huge launches and being a walk-in customer hoping to purchase an iphone on the 24th.
I was hoping you all might have some advice about where you think I should try. The closest Apple store is 1.5 hours away, so I wasn't really planning on going there. I have a Best Buy, 2 radio shacks, 2 Walmarts, and 2 AT&T stores. I plan to call each of them on Wednesday to see if they have any idea if they'll even have phones available for walk-ins, but where would you all suggest trying to obtain a phone on the 24th? I know it's a long shot anywhere I go, but I was hoping people might have more experience or even some educated guesses about who would get more of the product? There has to be some kind of rhyme or reason, right? LOL

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!

I was helping my grandma put something into the car and placed my iphone 4 on top of the roof so I could use both hands. In iOS 7.1, the setting has changed locations and is in the same grouping with General, Wallpapers, etc. Also, if you have not set a passcode, you cannot see or set Touch ID. If you restored the phone as new and it still does not provide you the option to set a passcode, and then Touch ID, then it is possible there is a hardware error. Since you purchased the device in Hong Kong, as described before, you can only get a friend/relative to take it to Apple, or you will have to do it yourself. Unfortunately that is what can happen when you need warranty work and have purchased a device outside of the country that you live in.

You can't do anything. You have encountered the activation lock. Unless you have some sort of contact with the previous owner you have bought a very expensive paper weight.

All iphones sold from official sources in Hong Kong are unlocked & will work on any GSM carriers network with the appropriate activated sim, including the USA. Note however, warranty & support are country specific & the phone would have to be returned to Hong Kong for any and all warranty & support issues. Make sure you purchase from an official source, non-official sources hack the phone to unlock it(their prices are often cheaper) and this will lead to nothing but problems.
