Enquiry on HP Fiber Transciever Module Compatibility.

I have a Cisco switch 2960-s PoE installed.
I was wondering if the HP Fiber module #AJ718A   ( http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/3790470 ) is compatible with it.
if it is compatible, is there much difference between it and the cisco GLC-SX-MM ?
thank you

I was wondering if the HP Fiber module #AJ718A   ( http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/3790470 ) is compatible with it.
No it won't.  You insert this SFP into a Cisco 2960S and the port will go into "err-disable" until you remove it.
is there much difference between it and the cisco GLC-SX-MM ?
Not much difference.  There are only a few SFP manufacturers that supply components to bigger manufacturers like HP and Cisco.  The difference is that Cisco has inserted an algo into the Cisco-branded SFP's IDPROM.  The appliance will interrogate the component and if the hash values extracted from the IDPROM don't match, then the port goes into "err-disable".

  • MACSec over dark fiber - transceiver module option?

    Dear all,
Want to order two WS-C3750X-24T-S with service modules C3KX-SM-10G in order to implement MACSec between two datacenters using dark fiber (one fiber). Distance between datacenters is about 17 Km.
Can I use GLC-EX-SMD module on both location?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Marvin,
    Thanks for the response,
Actually I'm little bit confused because ISP fiber engineer explain to me that since there is single fiber optic between two datacenters he suggest me to use GLC-BX40-D-I in one side and GLC-BX40-U-I in other side. This is because GLC-BX40-D-I 1550nm for TX and 1310 for RX and viceversa for GLC-BX40-U-I. In other hand GLC-EX-SMD operates only on range 1310nm and this module will be installed in both sides.
Based on cisco docs GLC-BX40-D-I and GLC-BX40-U-I not supported in 3750X.
I just want to be sure if it will work for sure in my environment?

  • Cisco IE-3000 8TC doesn't recogze 4SM fiber sfp module

Have a few Cisco IE-3000 8TC switches with the  4SM FIber SFP expansion modules. The switches do not discover these ports at all. I'm assuming that thhere is a fix or firmware upgrade, would appreciate any help.

    Isgabrillo, Please see below.
I wasn't able to see a PID for the SFP's, but they are Cisco GLC-FE-100LX
THe switch doesn't seem to recognize the 4SM module that is currently attached. As I stated, I have a few already installed in the field that I am not able to contact right now, but have the same issue. I think I read in a blog somewhere that someone had the same issue and there was an IOS update that cured it.

  • 2811 service module compatability

    Hi,
Will a Cisco NM-2FE2W Network Module work in a 2811 router and if so what are the commands to set it up? I know how to setup T1 controllers but is this the same or similar or what? (presuming the module will work?)

    Hi,
The 2811 does not support NM-2FE2W module.  See table-3 in this link:

  • C series module compatibility with 9103 Chassis

    Hi All,
    I have a 9004 cRIO controller and a 9103 cRIO Chassis.
I want to use a 9239 or 9229 and a 9225 module for developing my application.
Can anyone tell whether these modules are compatible with my existing Controller and Chassis.
    Regards,
    Cooldude

Those modules are all compoatible with your hardware.  The more important question is if they are compatible with the version of LV and NI-RIO you are using.  I believe those modules all work with LV 8.5.1, NI-RIO 2.4.0, and any version later than that.

In addition, the I/O module of the Elite Pro does not work with Windows 7. So it would be useless for you to buy it. Creative seems unable or unwilling to deli'ver proper dirvers for this high end sound card.
Under Windows 7 this high end sound card is not a champion, it's performance is comparable to a 30 $ sound card. Do not waste your money.

  • Mixed 3750G and 3850-X stack and Netfow module compatibility

    Anyone doing this?
I can seem to find any documentation regarding a mixed stack AND a netflow module.
If you have a pure 3750-X stack you can run the module in any switch - it doesn't need to be the master.  But what if half the switches are 3750's and half are 3750-X's?
Can it still read the flows of the older 3750's?

  • GBIC Modules compatibility

    Hello everyone,
I got a network with Siemens Scalance XR300M switches, and I got to do an optical connection to a Catalyst 3750 (3750G-24TS-1U).
The Siemens has a Gigabit Interface with SC Ports over SMF@1310nm (10 km module).
Which GBIC module should I use to connect both of them?
I looked at cisco.com and I saw only one SFP@1310 GBIC module (GLC-EX-SMD). But it is for longer distances!! (I suppose that a SMF@1300nm module will not be compatible with the SMF@1310nm in the Siemens Switch, right?)
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Best regards,
    Fabio

viyuan700 is correct is what he says.
The  Cisco GLC-LH-SM transceiver will interface  with your Siemen's Gigabit Ethernet 10km SMF interface. The actual IEEE  802.3 spec for Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LX outlines a transmit and receive wavelength range of 1270 to 1355 nm;  which covers both 1300 and 1310nm. Look at Section 38.4 - PMD to MDI  optical specifications for 1000BASE-LX for the specifications.
The  data sheet posted on Cisco's website (link below) indicates the  GLC-LH-SM= is 1310nm.
Cisco Gigabit Ethernet SFP Data Sheet
    <http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/ps6577/product_data_sheet0900aecd8033f885.html>
Sometimes  vendors used 1300nm as a designation for MMF interface and 1310nm for  SMF.  Probably a reason but I don't know why.
I  hope this helps!  Let us know if you have any other questions.

  • SCXI different Modules Compatability

I am using a SXCI 1000 (4-slot) chassis with one SCXI-1100 module and 3 SCXI-1102 modules. I want to know if I can multiplex a SCXI-1100 moudule with a SCXI-1102 module to one pulg in DAQ board and the other two SCXI-1102 modules into another plug in DAQ board, eventhough all moudles are housed in the same chassis.

    Dunty,
Please refer to the following Knowledge Base article for more information.
Can I Use SCXI Modules in Parallel Mode and Multiplexed Mode in the Same Chassis?
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/C94797073B74E51E86256A93005CABFF?OpenDocument
In your situation you are asking to run all four modules in multiplexed mode with two of them being the controlers. Therefore you will have two groups and this is not possible. If you decide to multiplex the SCXI-1100 module with a SCXI-1102 module to one DAQ board then you will have two modules left over. You could set both remaining SCXI-1102 modules to parallel mode or you could set one to parallel mode and multiplex the last module with the first SCXI-1100 and 1102.

  • Sfp-ge-s= is it compatable with a glc-sx-mm

Could I have a sfp-ge-s= on one side of a multimode fiber link and a glc-sx-mm= on the other side of the link and you were within the correct distance from each other.  Will they talk to each other if they are the same wavelength. Is there a chart somewhere interfaces will work with each other and what won't.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I don't know of a chart that shows which transceivers are compatible with each other, but the transceivers you mention are both 1000BASE-X transceivers using 850nm wavelength on mulitmode fibre so should have no issues.
From the Cisco Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver Modules Compatibility Matrix:
SFP-GE-S= 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver module for MMF, 850-nm wavelength, extended operating temperature range and DOM support, dual LC/PC connector

    Hello,
SFP-10G-SR is a MMF and it uses a LC duplex connector.
X2-10GB-LRM is also a MMF and it uses LC duplex connector.

  • Fiber connection failed

hi, our team ran into a problem about fiber optic connectivity. The part of FPGA is k7325tffg676-2 ,and the tool is ISE 14.6. We found that far-end loopback failed, but the neear-end PMA loopback passed. Does this mean that part on the FPGA work correctly (the failure is caused by fiber-optic-modules or fiber cable )? Besides, we're not sure that in the neear-end PMA loopback mode , which point does data streams turn back? point 1 or point 2? thanks in advance.

hi, yenigal. tks for your answer. We now want to narrow down the  the cause of failure.
Could the success of the neear-end PMA loopback guarantee our code (generated by coregen) is right ?
If so, we will check our board, and what point should we take care of ?
    thanks again.
