    Hi all,
My organization is going to appear for the SAP certification in NW-MDM-EA.
Please check the below link for the prerequisties for appearing the certification.
SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management - Enrichment Adapter (NW-MDM-EA)
In this link they mentioned that there is a need for Solution Manager Connectivity ( SOLMAN 4.0 ).
I dont know what is the need for the SOLMAN connectivity to do this certification.
    My questions:
    1. whether SOLMAN is mandatory for appearing this certification?
    2. Is there any other organization or parners have done this certification before?
    Waiting for vaulabe inputs.

  • Does MDM APIs work in CE 7.2 landscape?

    Hello Experts,
We have a requirement to fetch data from MDM tables and display in WD Java applications. We have to use MDM APIs for that. Our landscape is as follows:
Portal server is on CE 7.2
MDM Server version is 7.1 SP05
Now, the major problem is, in order to establish a connection to repository by MDM API, we need to provide "MDM System Alias" in the code. This alias is for the system of type MDM created in portal system administration --> System Config.
As far as I know, we need this alias created if we want to establish a connection. But following documentation on help.sap.com says that MDM Business Package isn't supported for CE 7.2 version. And until we deploy MDM BP, system template of type MDM isn't avaialble on portal.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm71/helpdata/en/5e/48a04270600d31e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm (See the Prerequisites section)
What should we do in this case? Is it so that MDM APIs are not supported for CE 7.2 version at all? Or is there any other way to achive it?
Please help me with your valuable inputs.
    Thank You,
    Ameya

    Hello Kanstantsin Chernichenka,
Thank you very much for the reply. There is no way I can do this in SP 05? or do I have to upgrade to SP7 only? I am not sure if we can upgrade to SP7 that's why I am a bit concerned.
And it is supported in SP07 means that I can deploy a business package for MDM on CE 7.2, only if MDM SP is 07?

  • J2SE adapter engine monitoring.

    Hi,
I have setup GRMG monitoring for a J2SE adapter engine in our landscape. I have set up a HTTP RFC destination in SM59. In the HTTP RFC destination, type H, I have specified the "Target Host" (FQHN) the "Service No." (8200 default J2SE installation port) and a "Path Prefix" (/rtc). The security is set to Basic and I have used a PIRWBUSER that I have setup on the J2SE Adapter Engine with role Administator. In the GRMG template I insert the RFC destination.
I have also inserted the ID, ESR, RWB, SLD and the Central Adapter framework of the PI system in the GRMG template, then deployed the template on the monitoring server. I am able to successfully monitor the other components except for the J2SE adapter.
I have to concede that when I test the RFC destination to the J2SE adapter it does not work. I think the J2SE adapter is up, as I can connect to the administrator. Even when I put the url ("host:port/rtc") for the J2SE adapter in my browser, it then request to login. After I have logged in, it gives a error "The Page can not be found".
It would be most appreciated if someone can shed some light on this issue.
    Regards
    Willie Hugo

    FTS SAP Basis,
Thanks for that advice. However once I have set the "Accept cookies" to "Yes", and once again I do a "Connection Test", the result I get "ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED". Also remember when I try to connect to the URL "http://host:8200/rtc", it requests a login, but then display "The page can not be displayed".
    Any other suggestions are welcome.
    Regards

  • Decentral Adapter engine or Local adapter engine requires separate databse?

I'm installing De-central/Local adapter engine in my landscape. Does it requires a separate databse??
My OS is AIX and Database is Oracle. Can someone give me the installation document for Decentral adapter engine.
    Thanks
    Sagar

    Thanks for the information.
I've one more question, in de-central adapter engine post installation configuration.
document says I need goto visual admin and do some settings, do I need start Visual admin in XI ?
or De-central adapter engine will have its own Visual administrator and there only we need to do this post installation steps??

  • Enrichment

    Hi All,
Can any one give detail overview of Enrichment ?
What is the use of Enrichment controller and Enichment Adapters?
Where exactly enrichment comes into picture?
I have help.sap.com links for this topic. Please don't mention those links.

    Hi Priya,
Enrichment is a process of Enriching the data that we are using in our Business that is getting the effective and correct data with no discrepancies.
    We require Enrichment :
    1. To achieve more complete and meaningful master data.
    2. To identify and maintain various hierarchies that we are using in our master data.
    3. To maintain uniqueness throughout.
Basically Enrichment process comes into picture when we are actually trying to maintain uniqueness among our data. There are various companies in market that actually helps in maintaining that uniqueness in data and also provides with the latest details about the data that we are maintaining. Some of the examples are : DUN and BRADSTREET , INTERMAT etc. These companies provide the accurate data for your master data like Duns and Bradstreet provides with the Vendor and Information with which your business is dealing.
Enrichment Controller and Enrichment Adapter :
    Enrichment controller :
The basic functionality of Enrichment Controller is that it reads the file during startup and then connects to the repositories and then wait for the trigger event which can be a workflow step or a WEB Service call. Once triggered then EC activated the MDM Syndication Server for writing out the records and after getting the enriched record back creating a file in the Inbound Folder so that it can be picked up by MDM Import Server.
    Enrichment Adapter :
EC creates an instance of Enrichment Adapter and then passes the syndicated records through a call of the interface method, then it is the work of the adapter to process the request ( it may require Internet connection or interaction with local software module) and then send the enriched data back.
    Hope this would be helpful!!!!
    If helpful do reward points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Parul

  • Enrichment Configuration file

    Hi All,
I made the changes in the configuration file by adding the server name, workflow name, trigger step etc..
But current situation is the records whatever i assigned to the workflow is not syndicated.( i.e i can not see the record file in the distribution folder that i mentioned in the Enrichment Controller configuration file).
Enricment configuration file is in " D" drive.
My syndication server " Distribution " folder is in "F" drive.
    What may be the problem.
    regards,
    Vijay

    Hi,
Firstly , there is no syndicate step in workflow for Enrichment Architecture. The use of workflow here is to trigger and control the activities of the Enrichment Controller. Further, Enrichment Controller listens requests via the MDM Workflow, triggers syndication, then to Enrichment Adapter and finally import Enrich records into MDM Data Manager. So, the MDM Enrichment Architecture is controlled at runtime by the MDM Data Management workflow.
This MDM enrichment controller constantly polls MDM workflow for steps that match the configuration parameters defined in the configuration file.
The code you pasted here indicates your workflow having steps:
Start->Process you can give a name to this Process as per your Code it should be Obtain_Geo_Data->wait(this is nothing but also a process having name Wait)---->Stop.

  • MDM Integration with ERP system

    Hello MDM Guru's.
In our system Landscape, use Baan ERP system to fetch data into MDM, cleanse it and push data to SRM/BI system for Business Requirements.
Our MDM is neither connected to any R/3 (ECC) system. we want to have a kind of Reports developed for MDM Data present in our system based on Companies (our Manufacturing sites) and have a automatic mapping of our Manufacturers , Suppliers & Customers based on Global and local Stratergy.
According to my understanding, we can use MDM API's (ABAP or Java). As MDM is not integrated with any of the ERP (ECC or Netweaver Data base)?
We have options to integrate MDM with ECC 6.0 & Netweaver system. Which could be a better option to connect with? we are planning to integrate MDM with E-Portal too, could Portal data base be used.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    MSR

    Hi Srihari,
If you want to use MDM in you landscape and store and cleanse data in it and then sent the cleansed data to a reporting tool for analysis then you can do it in one of the methods:
    - Either connect MDM to the other systems in your landscape using XI as the means of data trnasfer
    - Or connect MDM to other systems using the API.
In the first method.you need to use PI/XI to manage the flow of master data to and from your MDM system to others. MDM can be used for data cleansing and enrichment within MDM before syndicating it out.
In the second method you can connect to MDM through other systems using the API.
As you mentioned about reporting on the master data in MDM based on the Companies or manufacturing sites etc.You can achieve this suing MDM ABAP API.
ABAP can be sued as a reporting tool.wherein it will connect to your MDM system through the configured API and fetch the MDM data and generate simple reports .
If you wish to access the MDM data online you can use portal front end. but in this case portal wont be capable to store any information as it is just a front  end.
You will have to use MDM as a backend storage system.JAVA API can be used for futher customization on EP.
For ABAP API use you can refer the below link:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/profile/tip%2b%2bMDM%2bABAP-API%2b%2bThings%2bto%2bRemember%2b(for%2bStarters)(abap api)

  • Error 'Program not registered' while testing RFC - SRM to MDM / TCP/IP conn

    Hello All,
While testing RFC connection in SRM, we are getting this error. This connection between SRM to MDM. Any inputs will be highly appreciated.
    Error Details LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host <hostname> / sapgw<instance no>
our server OS : windows 2008 server
We are getting error while doing connection test in SRM.
    This is sm59 connection (TCP/IP ) connection.
Connection Type: T / RFC destination Name: MDM_API_CATALOG
    Registered server program: hostname.MDS
I checked smgw transaction ..Logged on clients...Program id is not showing. Any hint will be helpful.
I Checked this MDM setup also.
    MDS setup
In mdm server go to folder F:\usr\sap\DM1\MDS00\config
    Open MDM.ini file in notepad
    Add the below 2 entries.
    SAP RFC Gateways= GWHOST=XXXX.hostnamexxx.xxx GWSERV=sapgw00
    Trusted SAP Systems= XXD
This will enable gateway connection between SRM and MDM and will enable trusted connection.
For trusted connections to work, we created a service user called SRM_MDM_API with SAP_ALL in SRM  and also created the same user in MDM with Default role.
    Error message:

    1)  This procedure is for Linux OS - Similarly we tried in Windows OS ( If any procedure is wrong also, Please correct us)
To register the program login into the OS level as sudo su u2013 <sid>adm and execute the following command.
    rfcexec u2013g<program id> -a<gateway host name> -x<gateway service>
rfcexec is the server program name, the <program id> can be obtained from SM59, it is case sensitive and should match with the entry in SM59. The <gateway host name> and <gateway service> can be obtained from the transaction SMGW. When this command is executed it goes to a hanging loop.
The connection will fail once this command is terminated or the user executing this command logs off
    2)
To avoid this, instead of using the above mentioned command an entry should be made in the file saprfc.ini
To do this, execute the following command
    sudo su u2013 <sid>adm
    rfcexec u2013D<destination name>
<destination name> is the RFC destination name in SM59
In order to do above step 2,  we could not find saprfc.ini in windows 2008 server. Please let us know path where it will be usually?
    3) Already checked the notes sapnote_0000684841
I know that it is generic error..This is happening to specific one of system only.

    Hello SM,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
Thanks for sharing link for document ie Configure the MDM Administration_cockpit. It is helpful. I read that document.
    But still issue remain there.
The same RFC connection works between SRM sandbox to MDM sandbox.
Only issue with SRM Prod to MDM Prod (newly built system)
difference between MDM Prod and MDM sandbox.
MDM Prod runs: Windows server 2008 OS
MDM Sandbox runs: Windows server 2003 OS
    Landscape: PI7.1, MDM 7.1 and SRM 5.5, SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0
Even i did os01 tcode ping test using host name (specific IP address) from SRM prod to MDM prod, it is fine.
Thanks a lot for your help.
    I checked these notes also
    Note 353597 - Registering a server program
Note 44844 - No connection to registered RFC program
Note: in smgw tcode in SRM system, the required program id is not showing in logged on clients

  • SAP MDM Import Problems with Oracle

    Hi,
I've installed the MDM 5.5 today in my system landscape. Server and Tools are all installed, no problem.
After importing data from MSAccess-databases, XML-sheets and excel-sheets, i tried to import data from a oracle-database. But the ImportManager couldn't establish a connection to the dbms.
Probably i got the wrong configuration values in the "connect to source" dialog.
DBMS Server: 192.168. *. * //Server ip where Oracle is installed
    Database: addressesdb
    User: *  //has all rights
    Password: * //verified it
Maybe somebody can help and tell me whats wrong. Do I have to add a port or complete Database URL?
I didn't find an example in the Import Manager Reference Guide.
    Thx a lot.

I'm having the same problem as Andreas.  I can connect to a specific Oracle database using several different client applications, but get the same errors Andreas did when attempting to connect via MDM Import Manager.
I also tried using the ODBC connector, but that has been just as fruitless.  I have a dsn file that I use to connect to the above Oracle database from other client apps, but MDM IM gives the following error message when I ty to connect:
Login Error:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Message]Data source not found and no default driver specified.
I do not get this error in any other client apps.  I tried both with and without the .dsn extentsion.  I also tried giving the full path to the dsn file, but then I get a "source name too long" message.
Has anyone else successfully imported from Oracle -- either directly or through an ODBC connection?
    Thanks,
    Vince Moore

    Hi Jesse.
    Can you check the following?
    1. What exactly is appearing on the image column? If it is blank, a cross sign or any message/
    2. Can you right click on the column and check if you are getting any generated URL?
    3. Usually a temporary directory is used to set for the MDM images to be stored in the landscape where catalog application is running. (Sometimes this folder might have been deleted or exceeds the size)Can you check this in visual administrator? The property is "java.io.tmpdir"

  • I want to learn MDM

    Hi..Friends,
I am having 2 years exp on SAP XI. i am planing to learn MDM , is it suggestable or not. pls suggest me
    Thanks,
    Pasi.

    Hi Pasi,
MDM stands fro Master data Management and it is used to import the master data from various source systems, cleans it, manages it, governs it and export the data back to the source systems.
Hence, there is a lot integration involved when it comes to MDM. And sometimes when the format of file exchange is not same between MDM and the other systems, a middle war is required. And as you have experience in XI, you can always use that knowledge in MDM scenarios and projects.
So, by extending your knowledge bank to MDM, you can become very valuable in the market. Also, as companies will be moving to ESOA, MDM will become more important in the landscape as MDM is the base for ESOA.
MDM is a hot cake in the market and I would adive you to go with it. Please refer to some very useful links which are very useful for people who are thinking of learning MDM. The links answer important questions such as How is career in MDM and how to learn MDM etc.

  • Why MDM in homogenous or single system landscape

    <b>Hai expertise,
If at all i need to include MDM in a organization which include only SAP system.. what are all the advantages i will get out of MDM...
In single system landscape we use MDM at the time of upgradation of system..
    Any advantages other than that???</b>

Govada - You said that you have single system (SAP) landscape for your client...
but you have not clarified if you have other SAP systems like CRM,SRM,BW implemented for your client..If so..MDM will be helpful for consolidating and harmonizing master data across systems..
But if you client has only one R/3 system installed , MDM may not be useful...
Rule of thumb : MDM is fit for the scenarios where you have your Master data residing/being maintained by diffrent systems. (R/3 has its own customer maintainance and CRM has its own..) in this case MDM is of best use.
