Ensure Firefox / Thunderbird ESR 31 support

Currently, Beehive 2.0.1.8 is certified to run with Firefox /
Thunderbird ESR 17 release
Upcoming Beehive 2.0.1.9, being the last premier support release,
should offer Firefox / Thunderbird ESR 31 support.
Therefore, please second our enhancement request for Beehive 2.0.1.9 through Oracle My Support:
Bug 20101650 - REQUEST TO HAVE FIREFOX / THUNDERBIRD E SR 31 CERTIFIED IN BEEHIVE 2.0.1.9
Thanks and regards, Thomas

Firefox ESR site wrote:Who is it not for?
Individual users who always want the latest features, performance enhancements and technologies in their browser
So... not for Arch users then, I guess.
IMO ESR is incompatible with the Arch approach, so I'd be surprised if it ever turns up in the repos. The AUR, however, would be perfect for it.

  • Is there a group that is porting the firefox, thunderbird and/or seamonkey to IBM AIX(5.3, 6.1 and/or 7.1)?

Just trying to find a newer version of firefox, thunderbird and seamonkey for my
IBM AIX (5.3 and 7.1) systems.
Wondering if anyone in this forum knows of anyone trying to port one of the
latest version to AIX. (I am using firefox 3.6.28, thunderbird 3.1.20 and seamonkey 1.1.18)
Really need to update these products. Unable to fully access a lot of sites.
Would appreciate help locating a never version that runs on my system.

Sorry, the situation hasn't changed ([https://support.mozilla.org/questions/935325 935325], [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/959919 959919]). I suggest you direct this question either at IBM support, or at the AIX forum.

  • In Win 7 on Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000's quick-launch keys, Firefox & Thunderbird launch only in Taskbar, without opening program, then unfocused

Although these quick-launch keys on this keyboard worked fine on this computer when running Windows XP, when I switched to Windows 7 64-bit they started to have this problem, but only with Firefox & Thunderbird. And if I program these keys to open other programs, they don't have the problem. So it's some compatibility thing between Firefox/Thunderbird, Win7 64-bit, and this keyboard's software (latest version).
When I press one of the quick-launch keys on this keyboard programmed for Firefox/Thunderbird, they display a program rectangle in the Taskbar only, but no program opens on the screen. When I hover the mouse over this rectangle on the Taskbar, the program immediately opens, but out of focus.
I've also tried resetting Firefox, but that doesn't change the behavior at all.

The window that is focused is whatever the previous one opened was. If Firefox or Thunderbird are launched with no other windows open, nothing is focused.
After working with Microsoft's tech support on this problem over the phone, and replacing the keyboard driver & software with the one called Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard (both this and the one I had used are shown as the current drivers on Microsoft's 4000 Keyboard download page), nothing changed. Then I worked on the computer for a while, and the problem suddenly went away.
The only remaining problem is that Thunderbird doesn't search for mail right away when I open it. This is true regardless of how I open it (from the keyboard quick launch key, from the start menu, from a shortcut, etc.). Perhaps this is a totally different problem.
    Thanks for your help.

  • I want to synchronize Firefox/Thunderbird of my pc to my smartphone without having to open a google account

Is it not possible to synchronize Firefox/Thunderbird and others of my pc to my smartphone Galaxy S III, Android version 4.1.2 - without having to open a google account ? I do not want that. Please be helpful.

Firefox for Android does not require any Google services. We recommend you install from the Play Store. However if you want a self updating version of Firefox outside the Play Store I recommend you install our Aurora version at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/aurora/
After installing Firefox or Aurora you should be able to follow https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync to set up Firefox Sync.
There is no version of Thunderbird for Android. You could try the popular and open source k-9 Mail.

  • How do I STOP automatic updates for firefox & thunderbird?

How can I STOP automatic updates for firefox & thunderbird?

Go to Tools > Options, Advanced, Update.
Under "automatically check for updates," uncheck the box next to Firefox.
Then click the button next to "ask me" under
"[[https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/872089 When updates to Firefox are found]]"
If you don't see anything, wait eleven minutes and try again.

  • Where is the Firefox 24 ESR changelog ?

Call me an idiot, but I can not find the changelog for Firefox 24 ESR.
Plenty for the plain Firefox 24, but that is not what I need. I need the full changelog for 24 ESR, compared to the last release of ESR.

Thanks for the info. Not happy to hear that though, it seems really odd not to have such a thing for a major release.
Unfortunately this is in line with information I received elsewhere, which basically claims that the ESR branch has only been created to appease the rapid release cycle opposition, and that Mozilla does not support the concept with heart and mind, but actually tries to keep this thing hidden as much as possible in order not to encourage it being used in favor of the regular version. :-(

  • Appscan Manual Explorer Firefox 17 ESR Plugin 602 fails to work on OSx

We recently upgraded our Appscan Enterprise Server to 8.6.0.2 (Fix Pack 2) in order for the IBM product to support Firefox on the desktop. IBM stated the upgrade will allow us to use Firefox 17 ESR, which is the highest supported Firefox version (Currently we use Firefox 19).
Firefox 17 ESR works fine if you are on a windows desktop with it installed. However, on OSx it does not work. The Appscan Enterprise Console requires the plugin and attempts to install, which it does, however Appscan continues to ask for it to be installed. So the plugin loads in FF 17 ESR, however the Appscan product apparently cannot detect it.
IBM Support claims that FF 17 ESR is not supported on the OSx platform. Our developers largely use OSx, not Windows. They certainly don't use IE ;).

The plugin support is interesting - here is a link to the IBM tech page on the Firefox 17 ESR plugin for Appscan:
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21623462
Any reference to platform is specifically about Appscan Enterprise, and not what OS the browser is running on when accessing the Console.
IBM Support said that it is not supported on OSx. This is fine, if that is the official position which I did not get from the context of our conversation. That is why I took a shot at posting the issue here, hoping that there may be some way to work this out.

  • Firefox & thunderbird

    Greetings all,
I have bought a brand new mac 24".
This my first discovery of the "apple" computer system.
So far, I used an ordinary pc.
Today I intended to install firefox & thunderbird on the mac. Everything went ok until I reached to the point where I could no longer open any of them, getting the message "a copy of thunderbird (or firefox) is already open", which is something I don't understand since I cannot see where it is open. The problems occurred well after I succeeded in importing data from both thunderbird & firefox I use on my PC.
I actually don't know yet how to use properly a mac. I even tried to remove and re-install the two softwares (by the way, how do you remove a program on a mac?) but I still get the same message as before.
Can anyone explain me what's going wrong ?
    Thanx

One difference between Mac OS X and Windows is that programs stay running even after you close the last window (for the program). In Windows is windows-centric. Mac OS X is application-centric.
You can see what programs are running by looking at your Dock. The running programs have a dot below its icon. To quit a program, click on the icon in the Dock and select Quit from the menu bar (under the menu with the program's name) -or- Command-Q on the keyboard -or- right-click Quit from the program's icon in the Dock.
Both FireFox and Thunderbird use drag and drop installation. You install by copying the program to the Applications folder on your hard drive. Then you go the Applications folder in a Finder window. You should see FireFox and Thunderbird among the other programs. To start the program, double-click the programs in the Applications folder. They will appear in your Dock when running. To keep them in your Dock all the time (so you can click on them to start them the next time), you can right-click on the icon in the Dock and select +Keep in Dock+.
If you want to uninstall them, just go to the Applications folder and drag those two programs to the Trash. Then empty your Trash.
Please post back with followup questions.

  • When and where can I get the firefox 31 ESR beta?

The current beta download on http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/#beta is v30.0b9, is that it? (if so, why not v31.09b?) (Also, my platform is Linux)

The current Firefox ESR version is still a Firefox 24 version (24.6.0).
It usually takes about a week for the next beta to appear, so this might be the case for the Firefox 31 ESR version.
You can keep an eye on this folder list to see if anything about esr31 will appear:

  • How To Create ESR (Enterprise Support Report) ?

    Hi All Experts and Consultants,
I'am a junior basis consultant @ my new company and Please read my problem and give me the solution.
I was commanded by my manager to create ESR (Enterprise Support Report). I still don't know to do this. Firstly, I have no problem with generating and download EWA report in Solman System. My senior  at my previous company told me that creating ESR can be done in Solman by using T-Code DSWP. But after looking deeply into Tcode DSWP, I didn't see how to make it as I wanted.
    My question is :
Is it true that creating ESR can be done on Solman System or do I have to create on another system?
How to do it? Kindly Please describe the steps..
I was told that EWA and ESR is different matter. I will be glad if you could help me.
Thank You and hopefully I didn't ask at wrong "room".
    Regards,
    Gusweka

  • Firefox 5 does not support Google Tool Bar

Firefox 5 does not support Google Tool Bar

If it's an extension, it probably still works just fine with Firefox 5.0. However, because of Firefox' poor compatibility design, until Trend Micro releases a new version, you need to install Mozilla's Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 and restart Firefox twice.
Each extension specifies the maximum compatible version, which is probably 4.0 in your case as Firefox did not give devs any time to verify and re-release their extensions for version 5.0.
The Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension basically tells Firefox to ignore the maximum compatible version so the extension can still work on version 5.0, just like it did on 4.0.

  • When will Firefox increase their HTML5 support?

Like, since Firefox 11 the HTML5 support hasn't gone up a bit. Like it supports 345 points. As when even Opera and Safari bulldozed Firefox with a 376 and 385 pointer. Then Chrome FLATTENED Firefox, with a 437 points. And even Internet Explorer is chasing Firefox like a cat and a mouse, with 319 points and counting. Like WHEN, will Firefox actually put some more effort into building their HTML5 support?

There is always work going on on increasing our support of the HTML5 standard. For example, from Firefox 14.0.1 to Firefox 17 (still in development, the HTML5Test has gone from 345 to 383. The HTML5 standard is still evolving, and work is always being done. However, this isn't the best place to discuss this. [https://developer.mozilla.org/ https://developer.mozilla.org/] is the developer portal for Firefox and covers all the HTML5 work going on.

  • When will firefox be able to support html files in embed tags again?

A previous question was answered here that stated that firefox did not work with html files in embed tags. Is this a problem that is currently being worked on, or does Firefox just no longer support this?

hello, a html file is no suitable content for an <embed>-tag. you'll have to use ''iframe ''or ''object ''for it instead...
