Enter Admin or Power on Password

I cannot access laptop it said my password was incorrect now it wants me to Enter Admin or power on password/ It does not like the admin password I have and I lost ower on code.

Hi Vicki,
You would have needed to create the reset flash drive when originally setting up the password for option you're prompted for to work.
If you normally sign-on with an email and password, you can reset the password via another PC from the Microsoft page on the following link.
https://account.live.com/password/reset
Alternatively, if this is a Local Account, try the free application Here.
A final option would be to reinstall the OS via the Recovery Partition or your Recovery Media - these options are described in the HP document on the following link.

Then see if you can remove the need for a power on password entirely as follows - use the code above where necessary.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to access the Start-up menu and then select f10 to enter the Bios menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Security tab and hit enter. Use the arrow keys again to highlight power on password and hit enter. Enter the current password ( use the code above ) and then for the new password, just leave this blank and hit enter - do the same for the confirmation field. Press f10, select to save the new settings and hit enter.

HP Pavilion DV5-1030 "Enter Administrative Passworl or Power On Password"

Turn on before it goes through the expected booting I got message "Enter Administrative Passworl or Power On Password". I do not have the password. guessed 3 times. Each time got message "Invalid Password". After 3rd time got message "System Disable" with number 50581431. How do I get password needed to get into system? Thanks

Hello, dawn one morning when I opened the machine receives a request from the desktop of his beloved Enter Power-on password.
Currently I have a way to remove cmos reset jumper and clear cmos button next to the cmos battery but still can not change anything.
