[Enter] key won't work when installing Windows...

I went to install Windows XP today and once I get to the screen where it tells me to hit the enter key to start windows, my keyboard doesn't work. I was able to hit F6 earlier in the installation, so it works early on during the installation, but once I get the prompt to hit enter, nothing. Last time I installed Windows I used an external keyboard, but I'm without one. I may have to borrow one and try again.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Bryan

Solved it! Unplug all your USB devices. For some reason, my keyboard stopped working because I had USB devices connected during the install. Once I removed all devices, I restarted it, and was able to hit the enter key and continue. Some 5 hours later I had XP Pro installed with all updates.

Installed Windows 7 on bootcamp but now my wireless mouse won't work when in windows. What can I do?

assuming it is an optical mouse (no ball etc.) then there aren't any moving parts involve in the motion detection
so there's a faulty component or connection
from what you describe it could be just a loose/broken connection, so if you know someone familiar with electronics see if they can open it up and have a look

Presumably you are connecting it from the *Dock Connector.* In this case, the controls on the car stereo should be controlling the iPod and the iPod's controls are disabled.
If you are using the car's connection interface, consult the car manual to find out how to control the iPod. If you are using an adaptor between the iPod and car, ask the adaptors installer or manufacturer.

  • Eject Key Won't Work while in Windows 8

I recently installed Windows 8 on my i-mac. I installed all the correct drivers needed from bootcamp. All my other function keys work except for my eject key. I have programs that use multiple disks to install. the only way i can eject disks is by right clicking and telling them to eject through the windows folder. During installation of the multi-disk programs the screen is taken over by them and i can't get to the windows folder to eject the disks when the next one is needed.
    Please Help!!!
I have already looked through the forums but can't find any solutions to my problem.

Hi, this says it's for Vista, but might it work for you?

  • Premiere Pro won't work after installing windows 8.1

    Hi,
I have recently installed Windows 8.1 on my laptop. After the installation was completed I got an error message when I tried to open Premiere Pro CC. The error message says the program can't start because MSVCP110.dll is missing and that I should reinstall. I don't want to reinstall as I'm worried about losing work. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
Firstly I must apologize for not replying to this earlier. I have done as suggested restarting my computer after installing but I still get the same error message.... I know I've left this response very late but any help would be much appreciated.

  • Enter key doesn't work when typing in url

I recently updated my Firefox to 4.0. And now, when I type in url's into the location bar, I can no longer press enter on my keyboard to launch the website. I have to go up to the green arrow to make it go to the webpage. But when I launch firefox in safe mode, without any of the add-ons enabled, it works. I've tried disabling all the add-ons while normally using firefox but it doesn't work still. I've even uninstalled, and re-installed firefox to see if it would help but it still doesn't work.

yep it's the AVG add-on. stupid thing to troubleshoot.

  • Keys won't work when resting hands on palmrest

I have a mid-2007 black macbook that has been flawless since I bought it in 9/2007. I usually have it setup with an external monitor, bt keyboard and mouse, and the macbook on a stand. Recently I tried typing on the macbook itself and noticed that the keys weren't being typed out while typing on the keyboard, then when i released pressure from the palm area all the letters would appear. Also, the trackpad button does not work very well with my hands on the palm rest, there is no "click". Is this normal for my macbook or should I get it serviced at an apple store? I still have applecare until 9/10.

+I've had a swollen battery issue for over a year so apple saying that this is normal and to buy another new battery for $129 is unacceptable. I'm never buying applecare again.+
Why would you wait for over a year to address a problem? Batteries are covered during the first year, but just like other wear & tear items, they are not covered forever. You expect the battery, tires, etc. in a car to be covered for the entire car warranty period? They are specifically excluded.

  • Return AND Enter keys won't work. Help

Neither key works. Restoring keyboard default didn't work. Very frustrating. Is there a way I can change functionality of keys to get 'Return' and/or 'Enter' back in my mix? Obviously necessary, as I write many letters and often text with clients (if it doesn't have a 'Send' button, I'm screwed). Terribly frustrating. Any info appreciated, as I cannot afford a new keyboard at present. Thanks in advance.

Try Control + m key for now, then we can work from there.

  • Upgraded OS from Windows 2000 to XP, now my Registration Key won't work

Any reason why my registration key won't work when I upgraded my OS from Windows 2000 to Windows XP? Oh, and I also upgraded the QuickTime application.

QuickTime 6.5 registration will not work with QuickTime 7.
You'll need to purchase a new "Pro" key or revert to QT 6.5 Pro.

  • Enter key does not work with MSTSC

I have SQL Develoepr 1.0.0.15.57 installed on a Windows Server 2003 (Ver. 5.2 SP 1). I use Microsoft Terminal Services Client (mstsc.exe) to get to that server from a Windows XP Professional (ver. 5.1 SP 1) box.
When I use mstsc to get to the server and launch SQL Develoeper, it works...mostly. But the <enter> key does nothing. I've tried changing the line terminator (tools/preferences/line terminator) from "Platfor Dependant" to "Windows CR/LF" but that has no effect.
The encoding is set to cp1252 which is the same as my local version on the XP Pro box (both 1.0.0.15 and the new beta 1.1.0.21) which work fine.
Any ideas why the enter key would not work when using mstsc from an XP box to a Windows Server 2003 box?
    Thanks,
    Shelby

Look in Tools| Preferences | Accelerators and see if you have a key defined for 'insert new line'.
If you haven't, try restoring the default accelerators

  • Have Windows OEM Product Key -but key is not accepted when Installing New Windows 8.1 Disk

I was able to secure the Product Key for what I thought was a Windows 8.1 OS on my Toshiba notebook.  I believe my notebook ORIGINALLY had an OEM version of 8.0 (was pre-loaded when I bought the notebook) but at some point I updated the OS to 8.1.  I
was able to verify that I was currently using 8.1 via the Bios set-up utility.  After securing the product key, I contacted Microsoft and they agreed to send me 32 and 64 bit versions of Window 8.1 free of charge (so as long as I covered the shipping.)
When I went to install the  8.1 disk, I received a message stating that the product key didn't work.  I can't help but wonder IF perhaps because my PC originally came with 8.0 that it's product key won't work with 8.1?  When Microsoft asked
WHICH version I had on my PC, I had advised that I was using 8.1. They never asked what was the ORIGINAL OS?
    Any ideas?

thanks for replies.  I suppose it would be helpful for me to explain why I needed the product key and the new Microsoft Windows 8.1 discs in the first place.  This was never a matter of merely trying to activate the OS.  Last week- my
notebook went in to standby mode- a very normal process when I would step away from the notebook for a decent amount of time.  When I tried touched the power button to release it from stand by, I received a message that the OS was not able to start up
due to TWO (very specific) files that were either missing or had been corrupted.  The message recommended re-installing the OS in order to re-insalll or otherwise correct the file errors.  I spent a good 3-4 hours researching this on a number of
Microsoft/ IT sites, and it appeared this was a very common error -stemming from "boot disk error" -or "errors with hard drive/ partitions".  I then began my trek to a) locate the product key (of which I was able to secure from the BIOS) and b) have Microsoft
send me the Windows 8.1 discs.  Hope this helps and thanks again.

Do I need to install boot camp on Windows 7 as well as on Lion? I already installed it some years ago on Leopard when installing Windows Vista on my Macbook Pro. But now after installing Windows 7, many things in windows doesn't work (sound etc.). I made a clean installation because I needed to go from 32 bit to 64 bit.
Or should I just update bootcamp in Lion? (cause when I search for "boot camp" in Windows 7 there's no result)

  • Boot camp not recognize keyboard and mouse when installing windows 7 pro 64 bit

    Hi,
I have some issue when installing windows 7 pro 64 bit using boot camp. after done partitioning the windows drive and when boot to windows installation process, i've got stuck in the first screen when choosing the language. it seems that the keyboard and mouse are not detected.
i'm using boot camp ver. 5.0.
does anyone have similar problem with me?

I have finally successfully installed Windows 7 x64 on MacBook Air 13.3" (2013) thru Bootcamp.
Problem:  After Windows 7 install thru BootCamp, I got to the first login screen and not input devices (Mouse, keyboard, USB) worked.   I tried to boot into Windows Safemode, but I received the error  "Windows can not complete installation in Safe Mode".
Cause:  WIndows 7 does not have native USB 3.0 drivers, included on the install images.
Resolution:  I downloaded the latest device drivers with thru BootCamp and copied them to the USB Flash Drive that had my bootable Windows 7 x64 install on it.  The second option in BootCamp is "Download Support Media".  This does more than just download drivers.  It creates a file called "autoattended.xml".  This is key as it tells Windows during the install process to use the device drivers that you download.  Otherwise, you need to do it manually, which you can't because you have no mouse or keyboard.
NOTE:  I had no need of a super drive because I had all the files on one USB flash drive.  Therefore, I don't think it matter which side of the MBA the USB drive was plugged in, as other solutions suggested.
