    Hi @Trolley,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Photosmart 6520 cannot exit scan mode, and you are getting the error, "scanning in operation". I am happy to help!
    I would recommend the following:
Hard reset. Please see this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1.
Try plugging the printer's power cable directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector!
Firmware update. Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates.
Hope this helps, and thank you for posting!

  • Cannot exit target mode

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
From the above article, I understand that, to exit target mode, you drag the target-mode-icon to trash, or eject.
I can't do that. The computer says that the disk is still being used.
Failing that, if I just turn the off-switch on the target-mode computer, the main host computer gives an error message saying that it was improperly disconnected.
I was running Chronosync to sync the two computers, and after Chronosync was run, I was certain to shut down that program. Hence, I don't understand why it says the target mode computer still was running.
How do I properly shut down target mode for this situation.
Here, the host is Leopard 10.5, and the target mode computer is on Tiger 10.4.10.

I would guess that some process like Spotlight is still running on the target drive. You could check by using the Activity Monitor in your Utilities folder to see if there are any processes that may be working with the drive.
Meanwhile, do you have the latest version of Chronosync? There's a update for Leopard compatibility. If you'd mentioned the version then I wouldn't have asked.
If none of the above applies, then I would try to mount the target drive and without running any programs, unmount the drive and see if the problem is Leopard or a bug in Chronosync.

  • HP 650 Notebook, Win 8 64bit, Won't boot after HP attempted update?

I have had this laptop for about 2 months, and today it just froze when I was opening my browser.  It hung for like 10 minutes with no message, I had a cursor but clicking it anywhere on the desktop did not do anything.  Mousing over the sides of the screen did not slide out the Win 8 menus etc.  So I was in a hurry and held the power button down for 2 seconds until it clicked off.  Then powered on again.  (I have done this a thousand times with Win XP/Vista/7, when they hang for whatever reason.)  Upon powering on, the little 'busy' circle was going forever without bringing up the login screen.  No message, no error, no indication it was updating anything, etc.   Win 8 has done that to me before on this laptop, and i just power down and start again and it normally comes up.  So after another 5 minutes of nothing I forced it down and tried to bring it back up again.  This time I got a message saying "Applying Updates (100%)..." and it sat there for another long time, this time I waited at least 10 minutes again.  The 100% never changed - there was no moving bar - and no other messages of any kind.
It finally blanked the screen to black and said it could not boot and I need to install an operating system.
    Nice.
I booted again, and it said that Windows needs to be repaired, so insert my disks etc.  But I never had any disks when I got this laptop from tigerdirect.com.  I found my order Invoice, with a serial number, and I have my HP Registration email.  I responded to that email to ask for help, but do not know if that is monitored or not.  tigerdirect does not provide technical support - it has to come from HP.
I googled instructions for creating a Win 8 install disk to repair the boot record, and I could do that IF ONLY I knew what my Win 8 product license ID was!  Win 8 was pre-installed, and I can't find anything with the Win 8 license on it!  So I cannot get Win 8 even for a boot disk, if I don't have the license #.
Is there someplace online here that could take my laptop serial #, and tell me what Win 8 license was pre-installed on my laptop????  That would help me out a LOT.  I personally am DONE with windows, but its my wife's laptop, so I have to try and get it fixed for her.  :-/
    thx,
    sw

  • Cannot exit rescue mode vl.13 on zen xtra

when i turn it on it goes to rescue mode and when i click cleanup it does nothing, when i push format all it says hardisk problem and it does the same for reload OS. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

Did you read the?BEFORE you post, READ THIS FIRST (FAQ) post? If so you would have seen the link here to the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
You can try the advice there at your OWN RISK. If this doesn't help, or you don't want to try this advice are you under warranty? If so, contact Creative Support and get the player repaired.
If you're not under warranty you can try repairing the player yourself, assuming the hard disk is faulty. There's?Rudi Cheow's excellent guide on how to replace the hard disk (albeit for the earlier Zen, but the Xtra is very similar) and a thread?here on compatible replacement hard dri'ves.

  • Cannot exit recovery mode

Moved the AppleTV with 3.01 to use with another TV, but now it won't start anymore. It always goes to Recovery Mode after letting me choose language and resolution. Factory restore doesn't work, and the middle option says nothing's wrong. What shall I do?

remove all cables and leave them disconnected for 5 minutes.
connect and try a factory restore again.

  • VBA "error" in EPM for BPC 10.1 - "Cannot exit design mode" - any ideas?

    Hi all,
Upon opening specific BPC reports in EPM, I am presented with the following error message:
    I have tried the following:
Debugging the code using the following stop:
    Function
    AFTER_WORKBOOK_OPEN()     stop
    doRefreshFormula End Function
    FPMXL API's turned ON:
Removing the code, pasting it in bit by bit ( the error still appears)
Unfortunately none of the above worked. HOwever, repasting the reports into a new workbook - they worked - however, now they are starting to show the error again!
---> Does anyone have any other ideas/if you have seen it before - please help!

  • Battery for Pavilion DV6 6170 Win 7 64 bit

from where can i purchase battery for  Pavilion DV6 6170 Win 7 64 bit in New Delhi, India or in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India.

    Hi drjainpulkit
You could search in this link for nearest HP authorised stores: http://m.hp.com/in/en/store-finder/index.do
You could also contact HP directly and ask for the nearest store address:
    Call: 18001801810
    HP online store: https://www.hpshopping.in/HpOnlineStore/Common/Online_contactus_page.aspx
    Email: [email protected]
    This is your product manual:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842252.pdf
Go through page 10, 30-31 for the battery specifications and exact part number you've to buy. There are 3 battery capacities listed in the manual tested. You could go with any of them.
If you're under warranty and you suspect failed battery , you can contact HP directly with the error you've received, they'll probably replace it with no cost.
If you're not under warranty, you could also try searching for the battery in online stores like eBay, amazon, flipkart with the part number mentioned in manual, and get it online, which ever is cheap.

  • HP Envy dv6 7398ca. win 8 64 bit. During recovery disk 4, get 3f0 error

    Hi,
I have a brand new HP Envy dv6 7398ca.win 8 64 bit.  I had a problem that caused me to do a system refresh. After that, Windows update and MS Office would not update/install. Talked to Tech Support, they wanted me to go thru every service and started task to see if one was corrupt (requires reboots and update and recovery from win Update). Anyway, decided to do a system recovery/system reset. I had recovery disks and files backed up, so thought I should be fine.
During Recovery (from Win 8, recovery manager) when disk 4 was inserted, it gets to 56% and then stops with the 'dest drive not connected' msg. The system hangs and have to power off. Tried a couple times, then went to sys reset.  got to disk 4 again and then 3F0 msg with 'boot device not found, install os on hdd'. did quick check on hdd, all ok. Am running a full check now, but takes 5 hours(geesh, like back in the 80's again).
I can't believe the hdd is bad, because it goes through format, and 4 disks of loading files ok, and keeps stopping on the same spot.
Any ideas, before I finish waiting the 5 hours (1tb drive). Any ideas for after it finishes the test (I'm betting it's okay).
    Thanks so much!

    Hello socalfun64,
    You’re getting an error 3f0.
Here are steps that Big_Dave  wrote that might help with the problem.
The below solution may correct this problem:
Download UEFI Shell x64, rename the file to shellx64.efi, move it to FAT/FAT32-formatted USB-flash. Label the USB flash drive something that you will quickly recognize.
Insert the USB flash and then power up the HP UEFI enabled laptop and tap the ESC key to allow you to display the Start up menu.
    Select Boot device Options (F9)
    Select Boot from EFI file
Select the USB flash drive and hit enter
You should now see Shell.efi. Hit enter.
Ignore all the screen information that scrolls down on the screen
Once in the shell enter bcfg boot dump to see current boot manager entries. Option 00 should be the hard drive or SSD, option 01 the USB drive (UEFI) and option 02 the Internal CD/DVD Rom drive (UEFI)
This posted HP document will give you some ideas on how to remove, reorder and add the entries in the EFI boot manager. Review #3
If you’re not able to correct the problem, you may have to send the laptop in for repair.
Here is a link to a number to call HP and see what options they have to repair the laptop.
Let me know how everything goes
    Have a good day.

  • Running Dual boot windows 8 and win 7 pro with xp mode installed!! I love it!!

It took over 2 days to figure out how to adjust the bios to get my win 7 pro DVD to boot and install dual boot on this GREAT MACHINE!!
Step 1: using diskmgmt.msc you have to shring the C partition. I shrunk it so I had 80GB remaining as unallocated space.
Step 2: You have to enter the machine Bios adn set the BIOS to Both and UEFI as first
Step 3: Connect your usb dvd
Step 4: Put your win 7 pro dvd in the usb dvd drive
Step 5: Reboot your machine and when it starts press F12 to get the boot menu and select the usb dvd drive then press enter
    The machine restarts
Message on screen says press a key to boot from cd/dvd
Press space and it boots up the win 7 pro DVD
After files copy and load the setup screen asks to accept the agreement and where to install win 7
BE SURE TO SELECT THE 80GB location
Then follow thru the win 7 prompts to load it.
When the machine restarts you will see a dual boot screen with Windows 7 on top as first selection and Windows 8 below it as 2nd selection.
Make sure to hit enter with windows 7 selected
    The win 7 installation completes.
You will see many items with drivers not installed dont fret.
You can load most of the drivers by highlighting the device in control panel/device manager and pick update driver then select BROWSE for DRIVER and be sure to put in drive D:\ which is now the windows 8 drive and hit search.
Many of the windows 8 drivers installed with no issue.
The Realtek driver was an exception .. goto to the lenovo site and pick the x100e tablet and download the LAN driver from there  about (4MB). Copy it to flash drive and install it in win 7 from the .exe file. The driver for LAN will install sucessfully. The version of the driver is 7.46 something the 7.11 versions do not workl.
I have only 3 drivers that I could not find - 2 list as unknown and are related to ACPI or power management and 1 lists as USB controller but all the USB stuff works without it.
Be sure to either shutdown the system or sign out of win 8 when your done so you get the dual boot menu. If you shutdown while logged into win 8 the next time you start up it will go right to win 8 until you signout and restart.
Just to let you know an easy way to shutdown is go to the desktop and press ALT + FN + F4 and a shutdown menu comes up on the desktop.
Once win 7 pro is installed you can download the XP mode free from Microsoft and install it.
This is of course AFTER you have ACTIVATED WINDOWS 7 ONLINE with YOUR ACTIVATION KEY(you supply).
ENJOY! This is the BEST machine I ever had!

It's been many, many years since I don't do dual boot anymore. Don't find the reason to do it, either. Different kinds of virtualization should be enough. Anyway...

  • Pavilion p6285l - how to start Safe Mode (F8) ?

Pavilion p6285l desktop - how to boot in "safe mode" (F8 on most pc's) ?
Pushing F8 on startup many times, but no response. No "manual" in the box either.
F1 to F12 -- what they do on a HP desktop???
Want to run some virus tests in safe mode, since this 1 week old dekstop is already very slow.
IE8 and Windows 7, 32 bit  ("dont respond" and hang 30-60+ seconds). Speedtests around the globe show ok, so might be virus.

  • JAVA_HOME space win x64

Okay the problem is famous :  on win x64 java is not recognized if  set JAVA_HOME = C:\Program Files\1\Java\jdk1.8.0_25 neither if set JAVA_HOME ="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_25"  and neither JAVA_HOME ="C:\Progra~1\Java\jdk1.8.0_25"   despite a tons of web pages that indicate to use this last setting (Maven: tricky JAVA_HOME setting | Xinotes ) .
Then what is the solutions ? maybe the unique solution is to install java in a folder without space ?

If you are suggesting that when you type "java" at the command line it doesn't work regardless of how you set JAVA_HOME then the solution to that is simple (and true for all versions of windows)...use the environment variable "PATH" instead.
You can use JAVA_HOME from a 3rd party app that wants the location of a java VM.  (There are problems with that for serious applications because they would not normally run with any arbitrary VM but only the ones they are tested for.)

  • GoldenGate for Big Data 12c for Win x64?

I was looking for the GoldenGate for Big Data download for Win x64 and all I found on edelivery was Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX platforms, but no Windows at all (see the screenshot below). I wonder if it's been released yet? Or, is it just an unfortunate omission?
    Thanks
    Andy

    Thanks, for your reply, Karan!
I tried following your advice, but bumped into yet another similar problem. I've installed OGG 12c and now I can't seem to be able to find the matching version of the GG Application Adapters for JMS and Flat File for the Win x64 platform. The latest version of Application Adapter available on edelivery is 11.1.1.0.0 which means I need to downgrade OGG to the same version. No big deal but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything.
I wonder if anybody has any idea as to whether Application Adapters 12c for JMS and Flat File is available for the Win x64 platform, and if so, where can I download it from?
    Thanks

  • HT1212 my ipod is disabled, i have tried the steps to restore, but i get a message from itunes saying i have to enter my password to open itunes, meanwhile i cannot enter a passcode on the touch b/c it is enabled.  i do not have the original computer i sy

My ipod was disabled by my son entering the wrong pass code.  I no longer have the original computer i sync to.  I have tried to restore using the instructions sent by Apple Rep, and on these help pages.  I get a message from itunes saying that cannot connect to ipod touch b/c it is disabled, that i need to enter passcode to continue.. meanwhile, the ipod touch is saying i am disabled and to connect to itunes.  Any NEW ideas?

If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password)
If none of the above work, try:
