Entering calendar event generates unwanted email

Every time I add an event to my calendar, I get an email. How do I stop this?

Update: I found that if I right-click on the Automator calendar within the Calendar app in OS X, I can select Get Info > "Ignore alerts" - this prevents the alerts popping up in the notification area on OS X. But this fails to prevent the alerts from popping up on iOS, and also prevents the actual Automator script itself running on OS X which defeats the whole purpose.
I can't see a way to configure the event to disable alert pop-ups on all devices while still running the Automator script.
Also - I don't actually need the Automator calendar to sync over iCloud anyway, because the script only runs on my Mac, but I can't see a way to turn off iCloud syncing just for this calendar.

  • Lost contacts, calendar events and exchange email

All of my contacts disappeared. All of my calendar events disappeared. All of my exchange email stopped working. Why? What is an easy fix for a non-geek? How can one prevent it from occurring again?

It would default to whatever account you have set for default. If you were using Exchange, it would sync to that. However, the settings for syncing are set up in iTunes. You would need to check to see what settings were in iTunes for syncing the information. It could be a supported application on the computer, or a cloud service as I said earlier.
On my personal phone, it will default to my iPhone calendar which I sync with Outlook on my computer. I can select the Exchange account if I want, but my default is what I sync with Outlook.

  • Multiple calendar events in one email

I would like to ask if Blackberry supports to read multiple events invitation in one email.
I tried to attach two iCalendar (.ics) files, but the blackberry just picked one of the events to display as "one event",  the other is missed (disappeared).
I tried to modify the iCalendar file to contain multiple events, but the blackberry just read it as "application/X-rimdevicecalendar". When I tried to open the attachment, it prompted "This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device" while Outlook can read the file and import into Outlook calendar correctly.
Does Blackberry support this? Or I need to use other format?
Appreciate for any help and response!!

I learned that this is not possible in my version of CRS XI R2

  • HT204053 I cannot enter calendar events into iCloud from Mail

Since migrating to iCloud from MobileMe I have been unable to add events to iCal necessitating operation of two calendars, one on my Mac and one on iCloud. Also I ended up with two iCloud accounts under different Apple IDs.

When you say you are unable to add events to iCal, what happens when you try?
Also, you mention having two iCloud accounts. You should make sure that all your devices (including Macs) that you want synced together are using the same account.

    Hi Glenn,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're using iCloud to sync your calendar across your Mac computers, the steps in the "Troubleshooting Calendar on OS X Mountain Lion" section of the below article can help. They should also apply to Mavericks.

  • Dissapearing emails with calendar events

Whenever I receive an email containing a Calendar Event invitation the email just deletes itself after accepting the invitation. The event is correctly added to the Calendar but the email message dissapears and I cannot access the message from a different device (e.g. office PC). It is annoying!

You may want to check your calendar events settings and make sure the to and from date are just for that one day and also make sure your reminder is set for one time event and not daily on your device as well as your repetition is set to one time event.

  • Duplication of calendar events seems to be tied to 2 email accouts (blackberry curve)

i have duplication of calendar events. i beleve my 2 email accounts (business and a gmail) are somehow tied to the calendar. i had no duplication before i added the gmail account. i have temp. solved the problem first deleteing the gmail account and then going to desktop -- backup/restore -- advanced -- and then clearing the calendar/calendar all. then i resyned, all is good now but i want to add my personal gmail back.

i can do that, but i was just thinking it may happen again becz of this post below ...
"Christine, has that user recently upgraded his OS to 4.5? Some users as they migrate either lose calendar events, or they become duplicated, dut to the new OS 4.5 having calendar events tied to email address profiles.
If this could be his issue... read and see if it fits:

  • Inviting an atendee to a calendar event

Hello. I am a new BlackBerry owner and having added a reminder to my calendar for next week, I want to "invite attendee" (send a reminder to my husband's cell phone). When I click on the "Invite" it then takes me to contacts but I cannot seem to attach his mobile number, it keeps asking me if I want to edit my contact for him. What am I doing wrong? Probably something small but I thought maybe someone here would know. Thanks in advance for your help.

hello, as far as I know, calendar events work with email, not phone numbers. Did you set an email in the contact of your husband ?
If your husband does not have an email address, I know many carriers offer a free email address like [email protected] where XXXX is the phone number of the subscriber. There is often a setup to allow the person to receive an SMS with the subject and sender of the email. But I know it defeats the purpose of sending a calendar event. Sorry.

  • ICloud with personal email - Calendar Event Sharing

Calendar event sharing seems to be a pain for a lot of people especially because of the new iCloud and even more so if you are a legacy .Me or .Mac user.
First of all if you are a first time iCloud user and you entered your own personal e-mail address as your AppleID - you will not be able to send calendar events.
Calendar events (created from your computer (iCal or iPhone) to your spouse or whomever) have to be sent by Apple.  If Apple does not have a .mac or .me account associated to your iCloud account it doesn't work.  What happens is you can not invite anyone to events and when someone invites you, instead of the calendar event going into your calendar you get the invite as an e-mail message and you have to manually download the ical request.
BRAND NEW iCLOUD USER BUT CAN'T SEND CALENDAR EVENTS
So if you created an iCloud account from scratch with a personal e-mail address, you must go to your system prefs > iCloud, turn on "Mail & Notes" (even if you are not using iCloud e-mailand are using your own) THEN iCloud will ask you to create a new .me email address!  You have to come up with a new email address and it will be associated with your AppleID.  Then you can turn off the Mail & Notes option and now the calendar can send and accept calendar invites.
.ME OR .MAC USER MIGRATION BUT CAN'T SEND CALENDAR EVENTS
When I migrated from my .me account to iCould everything moved fine.  But I soon came to realize that I no longer needed my .me account anymore.  I had a different AppleID than my .me so I figured, now is a good time to stop using my [email protected] account and switch to my personal AppleID '[email protected]' address.  When I deleted my old iCloud account from my computer and added a new one (with my old original appleID) i was then unable to send calendar events.  I realized that Apple has no way to send on my behalf.  I have no email accout with apple.  That is just because your AppleID is an email address doen not mean that Apple can use it to send and recieve email.  * Your AppleID being your persoanl email address does not mean you have created an email account with apple, it means that you have created a Login ID with apple *  Much the same way that Amazon.com can ask you to login and you enter your personal email address to do so.. In both cases they are just using your email as your ID with their system.  SO, if you create an iCloud account from an AppleID that is your primary email address this means that you will also need a email address with Apple's .me or .mac system to send on your behalf, calendar invites.

Only icloud.com email accounts can be used on icloud now.  No personal domains.  You will have to buy a contract at some web/email provider to set up an account with them.
I very much doubt Apple is going to get into the provider business.

  • Having issues with Calendar syncing with my Outlook Exchange. It syncs 90% of the time when I enter an event on my IPad. How can I force a sync?

I use MS Outlook and sync my IPad Calendar, emails and contacts. When I create a calendar event on IPad, it syncs to my Outlook 90% of the time. Every now and then it doesn'r and I try to force a sync with no luck. What am I missing?

Ok after many hours of playing around with settings I found the solution....
By keeping the return button pressed.... (The square symbol by the power input port), u get a popup on the bottom of the screen which appears to be a list of apps that have been used.   If u press on the app icon long enough u get a red minus sign to appear on all of them.  If u press the red minus, the icon is deleted... If u delete all the icons and then return to the normal screen and enter Calander, you can now enter events.... Hope it works for u

  • Have problem setting Email alerts for Calendar events. Warning message says I need to set up a card in Contacts with my email. I do but it doesn't recognize it. How do I indicate the email I want alerts sent to?

The system of setting up email alerts for Calendar events worked fine in Snow Leopard but since I upgraded to Mt. Lion Calendar won't let me set email alerts. When I try, I get an error message saying I need to set up a card in Contacts for my email. I have a card set up in Contacts for both of my email addresses but it doesn't recognize them. Perhaps the name I have on the card doesn't match a name that Calendar is looking for. Calendar doesn't seem to have a way in Preferences or elsewhere to indicate the email I want alerts sent to. Any ideas how I can get this system working again? Thanks for your help.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one.
See if another contact is marked as this is my card.

  • Calendar events created in iCal sending multiple email invites to invitees

    Background:
    Google Apps domain account
Lion and Snow Leopard iCal users syncing to Google Calendar
    Problem:
1.A Lion user creates a new iCal event and invites multiple people to the event.  The event is created and then an email invitation is sent to all invitees.  Each invitee receives 6 - 10 email notices about the evet.
    2. the event organizer changes the event time, multiple email notices go out to all invitees (6-10 emails each).
What is causing this problem and is there a way to fix it?
    Thanks
