Entering Product Group / Category at the Lead Creation Stage

Hi
Our Client requires to capture the Product Group / Category at the Lead Creation Level.
At the lead creation level the sales engineer is not exactly aware of the product pricely which the customer wants to buy but knew which Product Group / Category the customer is interested in. So is there any way to capture the Product Group / Product Category at the Lead Creation Level.

1. Use TCode 0VVW for creating a Z Item Usage, say, ZPO1
2. Do an item Cat determination in VOV4, as
Sales Doc type
Item Cat Group
Usage
Item Category
OR -
NORM -
ZPO1 -
TAB
3. Maintain Customer Materials Info Record by using VD51.
In item screen for Cust-Mat combination maintain Item usage

Hi Srinivas,
if they are standard fields, they should be available in the UI -> Show Configurable Areas -> Show Available Fields.
Just add them to the screen.

Wrong account group selected at the time creation of G/L master record

hi,
At the time creation of depreciation G/L master account , which has been selected as balancesheet account instead of Pand L account , and the transactions have been posted. when i try to change to P and L account in FS00 it says trasactions exist we cannot change. now how should i change to P and L account is there any way to chance of changing into Pand L account .
if not what should i do please let me know.

Create a new GL (Depreciation) with P and L account then transfer the balance from the existing Balance sheet GL to P&L GL, then try to block or set a deletion flag for the Balance sheet GL.

When I enter a group name into the Bcc field and try to send the message, I get "[group name] is not a valid e-mail address..."

Been using the same template to send a weekly newsletter for a year or two but now with a recent update to Thunderbird the group name is rejected when I try to send the message:
With a group name in Bcc field, when I press "Send" and try to send the message, I get this alert: "[group name] is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the e-mail."

Although not ideal, these workarounds should let you use your mailing lists until a proper fix is implemented:
* While composing an email open the address book and select the list you are trying to send to, highlight all the names in the list and drag them to the To: box. This uses your existing data without modifying it.
* Replacing the blanks " " between the words in such lists' descriptions with an underscore "_". This requires modifying your mailing list(s) description(s).
* Downgrade to a previous version and disable automatic updates (Windows)

Creation of product group

hi
i am creating product group using transaction code mc84
while creating product group it gives error as "The field is defined as a required field; it does not contain an entry"
I have entered
Product group   PP_TEST             PP test
Plant           1001
Base Unit       KG
selected materials as members
will anyone tell me where i m going wrong?

Hi,
You might have marked some field as mandatory . And as in product group creation we have limited view so that error might be occuring .
Check what field you have marked as mandatory in t code OMS9 and OMSR

I have create Product Group lots of time without crate a material with PROD material type in IDES,and also I have checked it on other client DEV server its creating properly,and one thing ,if I entered Product Group & did not saved and again try to create it again ,it gives error that the Product group is already exists. Why it is happened?
But why it is not allowing me to create at my end.
Please give your valuable inputs for the same.

Product group in COPA

Hi Gurus,
Can you plese let me know the procedure of creating 'Product Group' in COPA? I know this is very general question but I have no idea about this as when I went to KES1 and KEA6 I could find product Hierarchy but not prodcut group. I assume there is difference between both.

   What is the difference between KMMAKL and MATKL characteristics when they are derived from the same table and field?
Will they be displayed with different names in COPA, like one as 'Product Group' and the ohter as 'Material Group'?
   My requirement is to have 'Product Group' characteristic in the operating concern. Right now, I see product group field in Cost Center to COPA assessment segments, but i am not able to populate it with material group.
   So should I add KMMAKL or MATKL, or can I add both?

Material and Product Group. Do we need to have any prequisites for creating Product Group with Tcode MC84?.

Material Group:
This is basically a field in Material master Basic data1. This field is available in most of the Purchasing Reporting transactions and you can run reports based on them. Material Group is also used as a reference when creating Purchase Inforecord without any material number reference.
Product Group:
Product Group is a material master of type "PROD". This type of material master can only be used for planning purpose, you can assign finished materials(FERT) as members to them. Example: If you are manufacturing a product which goes in for several type of packings then you create a product group and assign the individual finished product material numbers as members, here we also define the proportional factors for aggregation and disaggregation.

Product Category - Overriding the defaults

I have implemented the BADI to map the Product Category during the external catalog shopping cart creation.
I have the mapping Ztables.
If the mapping is available, all is working good.
However if the mapping is not available, I have to pass the error message about missing mapping.
The error message is working as well but the product category is getting defaulted to the standard category of the User.
I dont want to set it to the standard category.
Any clue?
SRM Functional says there is config to default and they dont want to change it.
How can I override this config?

I am using the David Barber's workaround as specified above.
In the BAD, I am calling the FM: BBP_PD_SC_GETDETAIL and it gives me the SC details.
After validations, I am updating the ET_MESSAGES.
The error messages are displayed if the dummy product group is used but the SC is getting saved inspite of errors.
Any idea?

Opportunity creation: product item category not permitted

Hi SAP Gurus,
After some difficulties, we succeeded in transfering products from R/3 to CRM.
Now we would like to create an opportunity, associated with a customer and a product (in fact consultant services).
In the 'Products' tab of the opportunity creation, we have to fill the field 'item category'. Whatever we type in it, we have always the same error 'The item category XXXX is not permitted for product YYYY'.
Do we have any configuration to do or to import from R/3, concerning item category? How could we bypass this error?

First check which item category group your products use. then:
SPRO->CRM->transactions->basic settings
Define Item Categories, refered to an opportunity item.
Then Define Item Category Determination. Add a line with transaction type OPPT and your item category group.

Error while creating the product group by MC84

Hello Friends,
I am creating the product group by MC84, and in product group field i have given the product group name i.e P2345, and its description i.e product group for waluj, plant i.e cw01 and Base unit i.e KG.Now when i press enter system is throwing the error"The field is defined as the required field;it doesnot contain an entry."Message no.MG144.And with this error system is placing the cursor on product group field.As i have already given product group name than also system is throwing the error.
Though i know the alternative method to create product group by MMO1 and selecting the material type PROD, then also i want to know why system is throwing the error while creating the product group by MC84.
Please guide.

This message says that you have not entered a mandatory field.Enter proper values for all mandatory fields and then you will not get this error.
Try to create the product group as material of material type"PROD"
Then you go on adding the memebers in SOP Transaction.
In some of the versions of SAP it is the problem.
I have also faced this problem in some versions.

Procedure
Transfer a suitable value.
If the field is the material group or unit of weight, and the field is not ready for input, check whether the material is locked. If it is locked, you cannot extend the Purchasing view or the Sales view. If either of these views needs to be extended, the material must first be unlocked. This can be done only by a user with special authorization. Contact your system administrator.
Note
For information on locking and unlocking material master records, see the SAP library documentation Material Master (LO-MD-MM) ->Locking Material Master Records.

Hi Ali,
Could you please try with some other product like HT-1000 and see, weather you are getting the same error or not.
And use the SAP GUI and created same opportunity.
Sometimes Web UI is behaving strangely.
Please let me know after creating the SAP GUI.

Dear Thamizhchelvan,
I think you must be working in ECC 5.0 or ECC 6.0 version.
If so means first create a material say test using material type PROD - Product group in T Code MM01
and then assign the members in MC85/MC86 for the product group.
