Enterprise 250 server problem

Hi,
I have sun etnerprise 250 server. When I start the server power is on, but its not showing any display on monitor. I think I have to reset my bios setup. how can reset the bois setting. Could any one tell how to reset this bios setup? If this problem is related to any other issue please let me.
1) If I start the bootable OS system will it work?
Thanks,

Here is your system's resource page in the Sun System Handbook (the "SSH").
http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/E250/E250.html
There is a link on that page for "Related Documentation", where you'll find all the manuals.
There is no "bios" on a Sun SPARC-based system. Review the manuals.
The low level hardware layer is an OpenBoot environment, a.k.a. OBP.
The default output device is never a monitor, but is to the primary serial port (TTYa),
via a serial communications link to another computer -- think Hyperterminal.
Even if this particular system had been reconfigured to work with a Sun video card and a Sun monitor,
you must have a Sun keyboard/mouse kit plugged in for output to go to the screen.
No keyboard and/or no mouse? No signal to the monitor.
Additionally, if you've turned the keyswitch to the diagnostic position,
you force output to the TTYa port instead of any monitor, in a failsafe fashion.
Spend some time with the E250's manuals.

Anyone knows what's the problem and how can I fix it?
    Cheers

You either have a mechanically or electronically failed disk drive or else your Operating System (I an presuming it is Solaris on that SPARC system) is completely mucked up.
If it is the OS at issue, you will need to install everything fresh.
If it is the 18GB disk drive, you will need to replace it and install everything fresh.
Either way, at some point you will have to go get your OS installation media and install everything fresh. The solution is not that difficult to understand.

  • Sun Enterprise 250 Server; memory upgrade

    Dear Gurus
Please let me know , if we can upgrade E250 memory from 1GB to 2GB and adding 100GB space.
Our hardware vendor is suggesting to replace the server as this is an EOL ( End of Life ) Server and can't upgrade the memory or disk.
    Anybody have any clue?

    Hello Krishna,
the E250 is extendible upto 2 GB of RAM (16 modules each 128MB). If your system uses 16 modules 64MB each (1GB), all modules must be replaced with 128MB modules.
Even if the higher capacity (73 or 146GB) disks aren't listed in the E250 page of the Sun System Handbook they might work (but won't use the the Ultra160/Ultra320 mode, that means no increased thruput). If the system is under service contract, extending the system with these disks might invalidate the service contract. If the system isn't under service contract talk with the dealer or directly Sun about a trial.
The followup system of the E250 was the Fire V250 (upto 8 internal disks!), which went EOL in 09/05. The current followup is the Fire V240 (only upto 4 internal disks).
Buying or leasing a newer system is more expensive, but offers much higher performance (faster disks and much faster cpus). I would suggest to call Sun, probably you can Trade-In the system.

9i database standard edition can use Enterprise Managament Server?
Enterprise Management Server can send a alert e-mail then some tablespace have large than the setting size.

Questions like this should be addressed to your Oracle sales representative. No one here can give you a reliable answer, which passes into law. In general Management Packs require Enterprise Edition.

  • IPlanet Enterprise Web Server hosting a portal server

Has anyone tried to port the Plumtree portal server component to iPlanet Enterprise Web Server (aka SunONE Web Server, v6.0 or later)? Plumtree doesn't support this, but I am trying to merge a custom SSO authenticator to the Plumtree portal (v5.0.1).
I have this working great in security mode 0 (with SSL turned off), but I am having a difficult time getting past one last issue in security mode 2 (full SSL mode). I can get the portal server to run fine in mode 2 through Tomcat on the same machine, using the same certificate and JRE. I can also get iPlanet to run other servlet applications fine with SSL turned on. However, there appears to be either: (1) an incompatibility between iPlanet's NSServlet plug-in that handles servlets and the Plumtree framework classes that set up replies via SSL, or (2) a configuration error in my setup somewhere. I'm hoping that (2) is the real culprit, but I've tried just about everything I can think of, and haven't been able to resolve this problem.
The server starts up fine and I can load non-portal content without a problem. But when I log in, the portal's main community page that should be returned is not being returned to the client. PTSpy doesn't indicate any problems, so I know the content is being built by the portal correctly, but the built page is never being sent back to the requesting client.
Here is the error that gets logged to iPlanet's error log:

It looks like a Java classpath issue, but I've verified (even in the same log file with java debugging turned on) that the SSLSocket class is getting loaded. I've even tried moving the specification of the jar file containing this class (jsse.jar, part of the JRE) to the beginning and end of my classpath setting.
I'm using the same JRE that is bundled with the Tomcat release supplied with my Plumtree 5.0.1 installation (1.4.1_02).
I've posted a similar message on a couple other forums (Java and iPlanet-related) and haven't found an answer yet. Does anyone have any ideas?
    John

In case anyone else experiences this, I have apparently stumbled upon an issue with iPlanet's handling a specified JRE/JDK instead of the supplied JDK in iPlanet (SunONE) Web Server v6.0, SP5, though I found a way around it to resolve my problem.
I had been specifying a different JRE to run with through iPlanet's administrative server manager. However, even though I was specifying to load all the JRE's jar files in my classpath setting, iPlanet was only loading the rt.jar file for my specified JRE. With verbose logging turned on, the error log was indicating that the other classpath specified jar files were being loaded, but apparently they were not being used. The JDK that was released with iPlanet appears to be being used for all other JRE classes outside of those defined in rt.jar. Since the JDK supplied with the iPlanet release didn't contain jsse.jar, which contains SSL support, it was not being loaded and was causing the problem I was seeing.
Instead of specifying the JRE of a different JDK that I was using, I changed the global setting in the administrative server manager to override the entire JDK. This has resolved my problem.
So if you specify a JRE to override the iPlanet supplied JDK/JRE, it appears that only the rt.jar file of the specified JRE will be loaded, and the jar files associated with the iPlanet-supplied JRE will be used for all other classes. Specification of a complete JDK to override the supplied one will resolve this, and the portal server appears to work fine now in any security mode setting when hosted on iPlanet Web Server (SunONE), even though Plumtree doesn't support that as a host server application.

When you install Enterprise Web Server from the NetWare 6 installation

  • I couldn't login to the Enterprise Manager Server by EMC

    Dear all:
couldn't login to the Enterprise Manager Server by Enterprise Manager Console.
EMC is in Start Menu->Programs->OWB_ORACLE_HOME->Warehouse Builder->Enterprise Manager Console.
After clicking EMC, then the screen is represent by Login window at my database when I selected my database.
But, when I put user name/password in this window, there is no response.
How can I login to EMC? When I checked manual, I found that I have to start Oracle Management Server but I don't know how I can start OMS. Also, how can I create OEM repository?
Please let me know what it is problem.
    Thank you.
    JWS.

    Hi
Enterprise Manager Server is a service, you can start it in the control panel/administrative tools/services.
To create a repository run the enterprise manager configuration assistant.
To login to EMC se the help for the default username/pwd.

    Dear all,
    Can anyone please help?
When I schedule a report to run at a certain time and the report is modified or deleted. The schedule also gets deleted on the Business Enterprise 10 server.
My problem is that I want to be able to modify, delete or replace the report without having to reschedule it on the Business Enterprise 10 server.
Please I need your help urgently.

There must be a way. Because our CE Admin keeps the report scheduling and history when he promotes my modified reports.

  • Hosting two portals on a single instance of enterprise portal server

    Hi,
We have a requirement to host two different portals on a single instance of enterprise portal server. The URLs to the portals would be different. Also for logging into the portal, one portal would have only User ID and Password and
the other may have Retailer ID, User ID and Password for logging.
I am trying to understand what kind of an approach needs to be followed. There
is a single instance of Oracle server where PCD is stored.
How will authentication/authorization happen and how would the user data be stored for both the portals in a single instance of Oracle database.
    Thanking you in advance,
    Regards,
    Veena

    Hi,
in general,  could do that by using a distinct role concept. With the "Collection of base rules" you can assign different portal desktops with different layouts to everyone based on criterias like groups, roles or users.
We have 4 very different portals running inside one instance. Every portal has its own standardized structure and is selected by logon groups, that points to roles, which points to desktops.
What will not work is a logon concept other than "userid, password". SAP, by default. only allows standard authentication with userid and password or ticket. Even if you use an LDAP that would have that distinction, you cannot query that property without modifying the system
If you want to use anything different, you have to write a new logon handler for the logon stack (using JAAS). This is tricky, but not outrageous difficult. We have implemented three different new steps in the logion stack, each handles a different case, from ip-based logon, ticket or LDAP query. It is possibly, all of them don't have more than 20 lines of java.
    But, still tricky.
It is a broad theme and you can try it out with showcasing two different desktop themes belonging to two different roles. Than you can work your way through tge problems.
In terms of database, it makes no distinction. You work solely with the PCD, and that is stored in the database. We are using DB2 and I've never touched the DB at all.

  • How to fix "server problem" error message when trying to use PhoneGap build service.

I have a site that is now optimized for mobile devices and want to use the PhoneGap Build service in Dreamweaver CS6 to make a native app.  Unfortunately, I keep getting the "We seem to be having server problems." error message when I try to create a new project.  I did notice that the configuration file was created at the site root.  I've seen a few other similar threads on this, but no solution.  I've checked on any firewall issues (none) and know that the PhoneGap server is not down.  The problem is on my end.
    Thanks,

Not an answer to the server problem, but I have posted the PhoneGap Build process here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4669054#4669054. It might help anyone still having problems.
