Enterprise Deploy for Reader XI-disable browser integration for ALL browsers?

We are using the Adobe Customizatio Wizard XI for Adobe Reader XI (redist).
We need to disable the "display PDF in browser" for ALL browsers (which for us are IE and Firefox ESR)
I tried using the MSI property:
DISABLE_BROWSER_INTEGRATION = YES
but that only seems to work for IE and not FF
Is there a setting that works for all browsers? (it was nice in the 8.x Adobe days to actually have a checkbox that you could set and it worked, but now Adobe has made it more difficult)

I haven't tested it so I won't claim what works and what doesn't. But I can say that one problem is that all of the major browsers are rapidly evolving--specifically with respect to add ins and plug ins. They change in important ways with every dot. Install the latest Chrome and FF and you'll see they come with native PDF viewers. IE on Win 8 allows no BHOs/Add ins in their browser bar. Adobe can try to provide hooks into browsers so that features can be toggled on and off, but that integration is a constantly moving target. The days of A8 are long gone. Acrobat deprecated the bDisableBrowserIntegration registry preference with 11.0 because it was not possible to keep it working across the changing browser landscape.
On the other hand, I'll file a bug and we'll see what new info pops up.

  • Did Adobe Acrobat/reader stop providing browser integrated PDF viewing(addin) for Internet Explorer?

Did Adobe acrobat and reader stop providing browser integrated PDF viewing capability for Internet Explorer?
Hi, I have been trying to view PDF's directly on my browser (Internet Explorer 9). We used to be able to have this available. To be honest last configuration that did work was Internet Explorer 8 with Adobe Acrobat 7. But I recently tried with Intenet Explorer 9 with Adobe Acrobat X and did not work as expected (I tried to activate the add in for Adobe but the adobe addin for PDF did not show up) I have the following questions:
    1) Do you still provide PDF's viewing capabilties on Internet Explorer?
    2) If yes: Is there a propper Add-in we (users) are able to install for Internet Explorer?
    3) if yes: Do we require to have Adobe Acrobat to have this capability? (this was my experience with IE8 and Adobe Acrobat 7)
    Additional Info:
There seems to be an addin for Chrome wich works as expected (opens PDF in browser) to this current date. This does not happen on IE.
    Thanks in advance.

Are you using the 64-bit edition of Internet Explorer?
The Adobe Reader/Acrobat plugin is 32-bit, and will not work on a 64-bit browser.

  • DISABLE browser integration in AAR 9

I have seen a few threads on getting browser integration to work, but I am on the reverse.
The setup is a entire domain (2000 clients) already installed with AA 9. Due to certain healthcare apps the browser integration results in IE crashing. So I am trying to find a fix (registry?) to disable this.
I have come across some references based on older version of Acrobat but nothing for 9. I have also seen some command line options during install but we're obviously past that stage.
    Any help would appreciated!
    Thanks
    Jeremy

  • Browser problem.(All browsers across users)

    Hi,
I have a really annoying problem through all browsers I have installed(Chrome, Firefox 5 and Safari), and I really have tried so much to fix it.
Basically the problems are with examples...
http://www.avforums.com/forums/index.php - on this site nothing happens when I click login/sign up in the corner or when i use search, it's all glitched.
http://www.fileserve.com/file/h7PVh6Y/3DTotal-Lighting.La.Ruelle.3ds.Max.MentalR ay%26VRay.by_instantloader.rar - here I can't click on log in again, the countdown doesn't start when I try free downloader and other buttons do nothing also.
    last example
http://www.geocaching.com/ - where it says enter your postal, location, etc...that stays when it should just disappear when i go to type in it, and when I do get my location typed it won't search anyway.
so any ideas whats the problem here? none of these are issues on my macbook, just the imac, really irritating. i think it could be some java thing i have to delete somewhere, but i can't find it, someone told me to go /library/caches but nothing was there anyway
    cheers guys

I didn't have any problems with those sites with Snow Leopard v10.6.7 / Safari 5.0.5 or Firefox 3.6.6.
When you experience problems with multiple browsers on more then one user account, it's time to check the startup disk.
From your admin account, launch Disk Utility. /Applications/Utilities.
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions). If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

in your jsp that will do..

  • Deploy Customized Reader XI for Mac

I am trying to customize the Reader XI installer so that it will not prompt the end user for updates. I have signed up for the enterprise deployment and read the documentation. I cant find anything regarding how to customize the Reader installer, only the paid Acrobat installer. The customization tool for mac requires serialization but we are just trying to get reader installed.
    Thanks

You can manually follow the instructions for setting the updater pre as described in the Mac Wizard doc, or you can find this info in the Admin Guide > Mac Deployment > Disabling Updates: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/mac.html#disabling-updates

  • Disabling the Check for Update feature in 10.1.3

    Hi,
I work at a government facility that has tight security restrictions regarding downloading software. We are about to prepare a software delivery package for JDeveloper 10.1.3 that will let our IT department install JDeveloper on all of our developer workstations. One thing we would like to do as part of this deployment package is to disable the Check for Updates and PlugIn feature of JDeveloper. Is there a setting in a configuration file that controls this menu item?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi,
Is the requirement to disable the check for updates feature altogether (i.e. remove the menu item), or to just disable the automatic check that happens on startup?
There isn't currently a documented way to totally disable the feature altogether, however it's possible to add such a feature in a future service update if necessary.
There is a potential way in which you can modify the behavior of the wizard such that it will always find no updates (the menu item will still be present, however). If this is an acceptable solution to you, let me know and I'll fill you in on the details.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • How to disable an "open for editing" option in word/excel viewers

Hi All.  It's my first post on here so please be gentle! ;-)
We have a situation on an RDS server whereby the majority of the users simply need Excel Viewer to review reports generated from an application, with only a very small number of users that actually need to amend and save these reports within Excel 2013 i.e.
a version of Excel that we need a license for.
There is an option within Excel Viewer that says "Open for editing" and unfortunately, because we also have Excel installed on the server this allows them to launch the Excel 2013 application i.e. full-blown Excel.
Is there a way that I can disable this menu item, or can anyone suggest a way that I can stop users from launching Excel 2013?  I suspect that I can use AppLocker to prevent them calling on the excel.exe, but I was rather hoping that there was a more
elegant way i.e. to simply disable the menu item in Excel Viewer.
Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It may be difficult for us to disable the "Open for Editing" option in Excel Viewer.
If you want to allow only view access to certain files, you should consider controlling access to the file location with network security. Grant the "view only" users with Read-only permission to access the document file location.

  • Trouble deploying Adobe Reader 11

I keep getting a failure with the following error when trying to deploy Adobe Reader 11.  The program for advertisement "RHP2022B has failed because download of the content "RHP00069" - "install reader" has failed. The download
failed because the content downloaded to the client does not match the content specified in the content source. Possible causes: The content on the distribution point has been manually modified, or a local administrator on the computer has modified the content
in the computer's hash. Solution: Refresh the content on the distribution point and retry the download.
The program never starts and goes right to failure.  I have refreshed the distribution point and have even removed and copied it back.  in my package i have the files acroread.msi, acroread.mst, setup.ini, and data1.cab.  Not sure if even
need the last two files.  My command line for the program is msiexec.exe /i "AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="acroread.mst" running as admin.  Basically all the transform file does is turn off automatic updates and removes the previous
    version of reader.

Have you tried creating new Package ?
this issue normally resolved by refreshing the package to the DP, Hash mismatch should be resolved by Refresh of the content.

  • Disable Iphone 4S for periods throughout the day monday to friday

Is it possible for 02 to disable a phone for given periods of time?  I need to limit the phone use by my young niece whilst at school without resorting to taking the phone off her.  Is it possible for 02 set up an automatic disable of the phone monday to friday between the hours of 8.45am - 3.30pm?  The phone is on monthly contract rather than PAYG.  I think I know the answer but I live in hope. Thank you Karen

I agree with you but it's amazing how many kids do take their phones into school and despite school rules they do sometimes use their phones but usually during breaks only.   I think this is one for parents not the school.  The contract is my name so I can monitor use and therefore overspends are rare and low cost, usually £5.00 at most, but I know of children who have run up horrendous bills for the bill payer. I am shocked and disappointed that the industry has not yet developed a device and contract for children's' (under 18s) use that parents have more control of and children more restrictions.   Children should not be able to 'lock' their phones in my opinion.    K

  • Lightweight library for reading and writing mp3-tags

    Hi,
I'm currently evaluating libraries for reading and writing mp3-tags. All the projects I found so far where not maintained for a couple of years.
    My question:
Is there currently a library, which one could call standard for this purpose
    Cheers

All the projects I found so far where not maintained for a couple of years. It may either be dead, or it may be so finished and free of bugs that no maintenance is needed anymore.
If you're occurring problems with it and if it is open source you can always consider taking a fork for own development.
Is there currently a library, which one could call standard for this purposeNo one comes to mind.
