Enterprise Deployment Access Connections v5.62

Does anyone have a link to current documentation for Deploying 5.62?
Attempting to create the Integrated Package deployment as identified in the Deployment Guide for 4.5 which is the only documentation available linked from the Access Connections 5.62 XP webpage. After creating the directory structures with the appropriate extracted files for AC, PM, Hotkey, and drivers. Run the Setup and the older version are not identified as being installed in the GUI.
Is Integrated Package deployment the method for v5.62? Where it scans the system and applies the updated versions as needed. If not, does anyone have documentation on the new installation deployment method?
Any assistance would be much appreciated,
Scott

  • Access Connections deployment error

    Hi,
I try to deploy Access Connections through our school.
I followed the Lenovo guideline called "Access Connections Deployment Guide".
So, I created a file.loa and put it at the same place of the setup.exe of Access Connections.
During the installation process, un error message comes up:
    "RunDLL
There was a problem starting C:\Program
The specified module could not be found."
My environnment is Windows 7 Enterprise x64.
Do you know what's the problem?
    Thanks for your help,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The problem was that the files:
    ___.sig
    *.loa
were missing in the: C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities\LOA folder on the clients.
So resolved it by adding in my batch file some new command lines.
    Thanks,

  • Deploy Adobe Connect for outside user access

I am deploying Adobe Connect 8.2.0 and it works great internally on my domain running SSL on both the App and Meeting Server. I was wondering what is the best way to grant access to outside users to connect to meetings hosted from my "on-premise" Adobe Connect Server? By best way, I mean the most secure not only for Adobe Connect but as well as my domain.
I thought about standing up an Edge server in the DMZ but I was told not many companies do this for what I am looking for, and that mostly they simply use a proxy and poke some holes in the firewall to let in the traffic.
So how does everyone else do it?

In my experience, most people don't like to "poke some holes int he firewall" as it poses other security risks. The Edge server is a valid method of getting externall access to the Connect server. However for getting advice on how other people have done this, I would post your question to the Connect User Community at http://www.connectusers.com/forums/cucbb/
There are many knowledgeable Connect Admins there and they should have good advice for you there.

  • ThinkVantage Access Connections cannot export .loc profile

    Hello,
I've tried to export one of the location profiles in Thinkvantage AC. The function however is disabled in the profile maintenance window/menu. Access connection thus only allows importing, but no exports possible.
I've already tried using the Deployment tool for creating .loa files. But as this is binary gibberish, it's not much more useful to me than a registry export.
So, does anybody alternatively have a *.loc file at hand for public viewing? Couldn't find a single example on the web. (Much less in Lenovos documentation or web site...)
    Thanks!

Here's an update to my situation:
     ThinkVantage Access Connections Issue
I just gave up on this and uninstalled it so no conflicts on this now.  (Not critical to me unless someone more knowledgeable thinks it should be!)
Rescue and Recovery: I tried reinstalling both the  Thinkvantage version 4.21 and Rapid Restore 4.0 after disabling all virus protection and uninstalling whichever one was on at that time.
Thinkvantage version 4.21:  Gave me tons of errors in the  pre windows R&R environment so I gave up after rebooting a couple of times  It told me there was a problem with factory.exe and the following files were "corrupt and unreadable":
    netdgdxb.PNF
    nettcpip.PNF
    netvt86.PNF
    netw940.PNF
    net557.PNF
    netand2.PNF
    netbrdgm.PNF
    netce2.PNF
    NetSetup.Log
Rapid Restore 4.0: Reinstalled from c:\ibmtools\apps.
Ran both "Create Rescue Media" and Rapid Restore 4.0.   "Create Rescue Media"seemed to work ok and burned a CD for me.  Rapid Restore had a problem and closed on it's own, but then proceeded to prompt me through 17 CDs for a backup!?!  Can I rely on these?  Is there a way to check their integrity?  Of course, a fix for the program seeming to end--but not really --would be great.  Also, the program to create the factory product recovery disks is no longer in Start-Programs menu.  The pre Windows R&R environment seems to load ok--no obvious error messages.
Finally,  since I reinstalled the software is the backup to factory info gone from my computer?  Is there a way to check?  What is the relationship between this and Windows System Restore which is reserving 9Gb on my HD--do I need both?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Access connections problem

I am trying to use Access Connections to automatically switch my location profiles, i have 2 problems though:
    1. every time I plug in my computer to the lan, first I receive an IP properly, then access connections seems to be siwtching profiles and the result is a 169.254 IP and therefore no connectivity, so access connection shortly thereafter switches on wifi and connects with that.
I have tried removing the profile and creating it again (while connected on the ethernet and also disconnected) but no use, same happens.
    2. my company pushes a wlan profile which access connections realizes nicely and offers me to use that in the profile and takes me to the wireless settings page. on this page everything is grayed out (wlan settings come from a policy, so nothing to override) and clicking next just says: "enter wireless settings" which I cannot do as everything is grayed out...
Any ideas how can I fix thexe two problems?
    thanks

    Thanks for your reply!
If AC needs to manipulate the profile, I understand your reasoning, I can accept it.
The thing I don't get then is the following prompt:
"New profile(s) deployed by active directory have been found. Do you want to select a profile and apply it to this location profile?"
If it's deployed by ad - and therefore not supported by AC - then why can I "apply" it if I won't be able to get past the next screen? This is somewhat misleading - not nice UX .
Q1. Is there any other use for this prompt?
Q2. If the ad deployed WZC profile was set to no authentication - so that there's no need to "enter wireless settings", I would succeed, I guess?
My understanding was so far that AC doesn't manipulate directly (can create profiles though) the way Windows connects to the Wireless networks it just notices changes in connectivity and applies necessary settings (proxy, printers, etc. - which are not part of the domain policy WZC settings).
Q3. Am I getting this wrong?
If AC doesn't support domain policy WZC profiles at the moment, what is the process of suggesting features for a later version?
    Thanks for your time,
    Andras

  • Access Connections does not accept Windows Wireless Config

    Hi All,
We are rolling out RADIUS/802.1x wireless lan in our enterprise. The wireless settings are deplyed via AD grouo policy - no problems there.
I have an issue when i configure my access connections (ver 5.21) on my T61 machine. I configure AC to use Windows wireless security settings whcih are picked up correctly. The issues occur when i switch from this profile to another profile for exampls and vice versa. AC seems to think that i need to configure my wlan security settings each time i switch to that profile and wont connect. I get an error message:
The SSID 'WM2009' selected for this profile must be configured in windows. Click OK to configure the wireless settings in Windows'.
I know that the wireless settings are fine, as i can connect with the window wireless client fine - its just AC that has the issue.
    Any ideas appreciated!

Domain policy wireless profiles are not compatible with Access Connections.
The problem stems that Domain profiles are stored in a different part of the registry than a locally created WZC profile.  Since these are part of the domain policy, they cannot be altered locally.  Microsoft wouldn't provide Lenovothe encryption used (for obvious security reasons), so the domain policy based profiles can't be manipulated by Access Connections.
But we do provide an ADM template that can be used to do much the same things.

  • 802.1x wlan authentication wont work with Access Connections

Hi - hope someone can help. I have a WLAN configured to use 802.1x authentication using PEAP, passwords and an internal CA.
I can conect and authenticate a wireless client using the inbuilt windows wireless client; i am unable to connect when i configure Access Connections on the same computer with the same wireless settings. This is really annoying.....
The version of access connections is 5.21 running on windows XP SP3. Laptop is T61.
The connection fails as Access connections seems to think that there is no certificate installed on the client; there is and of course this would not have worked with the windows wireless client.
    error message is:
The identity of the server was rejected. Verify that the correct server name has been specified in the 'Validate Server Certificate' section of the profile.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks.

did you find any resolution to this?  our mba- mid 2013 deployment is having a very similar problem.  We've gone through loads of troubleshooting and have yet to come to a resolution.  all our mid 2012 mba's are working fine they're 10.7.5/10.8.4 mixed.  console logs don't show much, i'll try the wireless diags tomorrow.  our other 10.8.4 build appears fine on other models of machines.  i've read posts about deleteing the adapters, deleting the system config plists and changing the mtu size, these steps do not work for us.
we don't have as high a failure rate with our deployment, but 25%-30% of our clients randomly drop connectivity and are unable to reconnect (fluttering wi-fi wave).  when you slect the wifi symbol in the menu bar other wireless networks do not show, the 'looking for networks' fly wheel continues to spin.  ocasionaly on login the yellow jelly bean will appear then disappear before finally timeing out without logging the user in (depsite having mobile accounts enabled).    mostly the problem manifests itself when waking from sleep - the wifi symbol flutters endlessly without connecting.  deleting the 8021x profile and readding it will reenable connectivity.  we've tried new profiels, but to the same end.  i know our certs and systems are fine because previous mac os x builds work fine as do our windows clients.
any input would be much appreciated.

  • Lenovo Thinkvantage Access Connections prevents Microsoft File and Printer Sharing

We have several Think pad laptops deployed in our company, including G41, T61, and T500 models.  We are using Numara's Track It software to inventory our workstations and laptops.  The auditing process needs to have Microsoft File and Printer Sharing turned on in order to work.  We have enabled a group policy to set this to on by default.  However, the Thinkavntage Access connections manager for the LAN connection overrides the GP and turns off the File and Printer Sharing by default.  What's worse, with it off, we can't remotely manage the machine's services or even access the registry.  We know that his is the issue, because reconfiguring the access connections manager to allow the file and printer sharing will allow all of our remote administration tools to work, insluding the inventory audit.
Does anyone know how to disable the access connection manager from running remotely?  or does anyone know how to change the settings remotely to all for the microsoft file and printer sharing to be enabled by default.  I would hate to have to visit each user individually just to turn off a setting.
anyone else run into headaches because of this "security feature"?

  • I have problem with Access Connections on L412 after that utilyty upgrade

I have problem with Access Connections on L412 after that utilyty upgrade in early August. Windows 7 Ultimate/x64.
It stops connecting to WPA2 Enterprise (AES-CCMP), Microsoft PEAP, no server cert, with any credentials I try to use. The same account(s) works with native Intel manager on other notebooks and on mobile devices. I lost the wireless connectivity to enterprise WiFi network.
And, after deinstallation of Access Connections, the inability to connect keeped intact with native Win7 WiFi management.
I think, something was broken in Access Connections 5.83 Build 83C753WW and some registry settings/ dll modules were altered but not returned to normal after deinstall.

Access Connections is definitely broken for WPA encryption.  Both versions 5.02 and 5.84 fail for me.  If I use the Windows XP wireless configuration instead of Access Connections, everything works.
Does anyone know how to report this to Lenovo?  I chased links around the web site but couldn't find a place.

  • Access Connections on Windows 7 with Standard User Privilege

My company is developing a Windows 7 Professional image based on Lenovo’s factory build. One of the key objectives to this image is to get our users away from being Administrators (admin) on their systems to greatly reduce the security risks associated with admin privileges. One of the ThinkVantage utilities we have found most valuable to our laptop users is Access Connections (AC). In our initial testing we have found that AC does not allow for the creation or modification of connection Profiles as a standard user.
Is there any way to configure AC so it does not require admin privilege to create and manage profiles?
    Thanks

    Hi,
yes, the previous post is the correct one.
Just one note, in case you want to deploy some network connections to multiple users, then you can use the .LOA files, where you can also distribute specific configuartion settings for the end user. All that is needed, once the .LOA file is on please is to restart the both AC services and you are ready to go.
This is just a note, in case you have >1000 users which you would like to administrate.
    Cheers

  • Enterprise Remote Access only works as an administrator

Windows Surface Pro Tablet with Office 2010 loaded on it as well. IE 11 is the browser. All updates have been installed. Using a wired connection using a Surface Pro Docking Station. If the local administrator or the domain administrator are logged in, any
legitimate RD Web user can log into the server Apps without a problem. If these same users log onto the tablet with their credentials, then log into RD Web with their credentials and finally click on an App to run, they are challenged for their password again
and then the App will sit and spin, eventually stalling out and the user's app does not open.
I have spent the last couple of days working on this and it is getting a bit annoying. It seems like a permissions problem, in that the correct credentials needed are not being passed along to any users that are not either the local administrator or the
domain administrator. We have tried other users that are also in the domain administrator user group and they cannot open the apps when logged in as themselves. We even tried logging in as a domain admin user that had no RD Web credentials. Only two users
are allowed to use the Enterprise Remote Access RemoteApp and Desktop Connection - and nobody else.
And to clarify, a full-fledged RDP session works fine, but for security reasons we do not want to start enabling that for all tablets moving forward.
    I am open to suggestions.
    Thanx for reading,

    Hi art.gibbens,
Thanks for your update, i would record this issue, we can expect this kind of potential issue can be fixed in future update.

  • Access Connections v4.52 - user rights in locked down environment

I'm currently working on a small project to deploy various Lenovo wireless drivers, Access Connections v4.52, Hotkey and Power Management drivers via SMS but have come across a slight issue with Access Connections that I can't seem to resolve.
I'm hoping to provide my locked down users with a selection of standard profiles that are copied to their machines on logon but would also like to give them the ability to create and modify new ones too - this is where I'm having problems.
Through Group Policy I have set:
Allow Windows users without administrator privileges to create and apply WLAN location profiles using Find Wireless Network function
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Lenovo\AccessConnection\EnableCreateProfilewithFWN 1
Allow Windows users without administrator privileges to create and apply location profiles
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Lenovo\AccessConnection\EnableUserMode 1
I have also manually set the following:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Access Connections\Install\AllowPrfCreationThruFWN 1
I couldn't find a key for the 'EnableUserMode' option
Unfortunately, none of these give standard users access to create or modify profiles.
Have any of you come across this in your environment and if so did you manage to come up with a suitable solution?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
the steps, that you performed are correct.
However I would not do the last step:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Access Connections\Install\AllowPrfCreationThruFWN 1
    This might cause confusiong.
I have just tested it in here and it's working fine with the 5.x version of AC
    Cheers

  • L530 - Access Connections: proxy + homepage settings

The problem is on a brend new L530, installed from scratch with Win7 Enterprise 64bit, no Lenovo Solution Center, just Lenovo System Update (5.02.0018)  and Lenovo Access Connection (6.01).
    The steps I did:
    Ethernet cable plugged in
    Started system
After a while AC asked for the new profile name, flagged the "Modify profile" checkbox
    Modified settings
Applied profile...nothing happened on the Control Panel (Internet Options) so IE is useless.
Looks like Firefox settings changed (Manual profile and all the settings are there).
I wish AC would set "Control Panel -> Internet options" so every modern browser would work (Chrome and Firefox both have "System Settings" for the Proxy settings).
Keep in mind that If I reboot the system (maybe forcing AC to re-read profiles) looks like everything works fine.
So the real problem looks related to profiles created after AC loaded.
    Any hint?
Moderator edit:  Please DO NOT post in 4+ year old threads!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Maybe this could be useful for someone as I think I found where the problem is: pay attention at the "No Proxy" setting!
I did some tests and it looks like AC doesn't handle "Firefox" syntax for this setting (i.e. 10.0.0.0/8), if you put that on the profile the proxy setting will not be set.
The other problem is that Firefox will not understand IE setting (10.*).
Right now I set up profiles just with "IE syntax" and wrote on BugZilla:
