Enterprise Edition license using vor development
Hi @ everybody,
i'm just thinking about the license model of Oracle. In our company whe have one enterprise edition license. But when i want to use a second server for developing and testing can i install the enterprise edition a second time on an other server with the same license?
Thanks and best regards,
David
whilst I would agree in principle with legal advice we can get a flavour of what Oracle think from their own website where they clearly as mud outline what they deem a developer licence is

A question about Oracle 1g R2 Enterprise Edition license
Dear all,
I have a question about Oracle license and I would appreciate if you could kindly help me.
I have installed an Oracle server (11g R2 Enterprise edition) on a linux virtual machine. The pc used for this purpose
is my enterprise laptop (therefore a professional and not a personal Computer). However, I use the this Oracle Server
only for learning purpose, that is, only for running the examples in my Oracle Press books (SQL, PL/SQL and some
administration tasks) just for learning the stuff.
There is absolutely no data related to my enterprise, stored or used on this server. Whenever I want to work with my
enterprise data, I use the Oracle server of the enterprise which has of course the appropriate license. So as I said, I
use this Enterprise server on the virtual machine only for running queries/programs in my Oracle Press books just for
learning and I'm the sole person who uses this server (no remote connection for other users).
The reason for which I needed to install this server on my PC was that our DBA couldn't provide a training environment
for me with all required privileges and functionalities.
Am I supposed to buy a license for this installed Enterprise server on my virtual machine?
Thanks in advance,

I think self training can be considered in this category, therefore I think there is no need to buy a license for that.

Do I need Enterprise Edition license for Grid Control
We are planning on installing Oracle 10g Grid Control onto a server that does not currently have Oracle on at all. It is a 2 processor server. Using this we will be monitoring Oracle databases on 2 other servers, each of which also have 2 processors.
My question is do I need Enterprise Edition or will Standard Edition be ok? We will be using the diagnostics pack in Grid Control, and also rman on the same server. Do I definitely need Enterprise Edition?
Many thanks,
Paula.Licence questions should be always addressed to an authorized Oracle sales representative, no one in this forum can give you an official and committed answer, you can rely on.
At least documentation shows all Management Packs require the Enterprise Edition:

Oracle Enterprise Edition Licensing - Core metrics
Oracle: 10G (10.2.0.4) 64-bit, Enterprise Edition
Running on Xeon Intel chips, of which I believe have a core factor multiple of 0.5
We have 540 NUP licenses on our site. We obviously have a Live box, and a few test boxes.
One of our test boxes has 4 cores (Intel Xeon chip). Using the minimum usage licensing for Enterprise Edition, after the core factor of 0.5 is applied we would count 2 cores, I believe we would need 25 NUP licenses per core, which would = 50 NUP minimum for this test box.
Is this correct??
My concern is that there may be a minimum of 4 cores (after factor) for Enterprise Edition. I cannot find anything that confirms this. I can only find maximums for Standard Edition, nothing for Enterprise Edition.
If there is a minimum of 4 cores, then I need to pull out one of these test boxes.
Anyone knows the facts on this?
Many thanks.Again like everybody said above, you should contact Oracle Sales Rep.
But Still let me answer your question, There is noting like minimum of 4 cores for enterprise edition. You can have NUP license even on 1 CPU.
Another thing which might benefit you that, Oraclel gives you Limited Use Enterprise Licenses for your Test/Dev boxex which means You only need minimum of enterprise 10 NUP's for Test/Dev instead of minimum of 25. This will save you 15 NUP's per processor. But for this you have to talk to Oracle or any third party vendor.
But again best bet is o talk to Sales Rep. -

Install oracle BI enterprise edition to use it with siebel marketing
Hi guys.
I want to install the Oracle BI Enterprise Edition in order to use it (Segmentation) from Siebel Marketing.
To ensure the correct cooperation, between oracle BI and siebel Marketing, i have to follow some particular procedure?? or i can install Oracle BI normally and after set correctly some parameter in siebel marketing/oracle BI??
If the answer is PARTICULAR...... WHAT??
Thanks in advance.
Best reguards
AntonioFor the OBIEE platform itself it's irrelevant whether you use Siebel Marketing or not. The differences are
a) within Siebel - i.e. the administration screens
b) within the BIEE rpd - i.e. the Marketing metadata objects
ad a) Here's the official documentation: "Siebel Marketing Installation and Administration Guide"
[http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B40099_02/books/MKTG_InstallAdmin/booktitle.html|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B40099_02/books/MKTG_InstallAdmin/booktitle.html]
ad b) In the Administration Tool, go to "Manage" -> "Marketing". Here you'll find the four object types:
- Target Levels
- Qualified List Items
- List Catalogs
- Conforming Dimension Links

Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition user license in Standard Edition
Hi,
If I purchase Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition license (user or processor), and somehow if I decedided to downgrade the server from Enterprise Edition to Standard Edition, is these license still valid to apply to the Standard Edition server??
ThanksI'm sure Oracle would have no objection to you using a less expensive version, but you may want to run that question by your Oracle sales rep to see if there is a notification requirement.
Whether there would be an opportunity to get some level of refund, though, would be a question for your Oracle sales rep. I would tend to doubt it but you never know.

Oracle Enterprise Edition Database Option Licensing
Does anyone know if there is an official Oracle document regarding licensing of Oracle Enterprise Edition Licensing options?
If you for example install Oracle Enterprise Edition, do a standard install, a number of Enterprise options get installed, for example Partitioning and OLAP.
Both of those options are license extras.
So if they are installed but not used, should they still be licensed?
Does anyone know the official line on this?
Regards
Steven MillerWelcome to the forums !
AFAIK, as long as these extra options are not used, you should be ok - but the best/correct answer will be given by your Oracle salesperson. Answers offered in these forums will not stand up in a court of law :-)

10g Enterprise Edition Licence
Gurus,
Will enterprise manager comes with 10g Enterprise edition software which is downloaded for Windows and Solaris Sun Sparc ?
Or Will EM only come with the 10g Enterprise Media pack which we buy from Oracle for Windows and Solaris Sun Sparc?
Please clear this doubt.
Thanks,
Balu.Maran.Viswarayar wrote:
There are 2 things related to EM
1.Enterprise manager DBConsole which is free
2.Enterprise Manager GRID CONTROL---Needs additional costBS. Please cite your sources so we can correct them.
Grid Control is a framework for displaying monitor and metric information.
Grid Control is an infrastructure that is included free of charge with Standard and Enterprise Edition licenses of the database and the application server. It is a separate download, but so is Database Client or Database Clusterware. This is discussed in the Licensing manual for database and app server. (See http://tahiti.oracle.com)
One of the displays Grid Control can show is the set of Database monitor and metrics, which are included free with the database The DBA may choose to display the database on the standalone EM, called the DB Control, or the centralized EM called the Grid Control.
The database also supports a number of additional metrics and monitors, called Database Enterprise Manager Packs. These packs happen to be included with the database download. However, the DB stores some usage information, and an additional fee is charged if they are used. This is discussed in the Metrics manuals for the EM in the EM doc set.
Either (or both) DB Control or Grid Control may be used to display the info from the additional packs. However, you pay for the usage of the additional packs, regardless of where displayed, either up front or after an audit. -

Step by step upgrading exchange server 2010 standard to enterprise edition
step by step upgrading process exchange server 2010 standard to enterprise edition
Exchange standard and Enterprise edition have the same ISO image. it's just the license that you have to enter and corresponding features will be enabled. If you are planning to upgrade existing Exchange 2010 Standard to Exchange 2010 Enterprise then simply
apply the licenses of Enterprise edition. But if you want to upgrade to Exchange 2013 enterprise then install exchange 2013 in your environment and apply Exchange 2013 Enterprise edition licenses. Hope this answer your query. Thanks.
Kindly mark this as answer if found helpful. Thanks.

The two non-localhost IP address for the developer edition

the IP addresses of the first two systems that connect to it
after a

If you restart the ColdFusion service the current IP

1) There is no developer edition in Oracle. If you are 3 developers and will be developing on your own databases, you can buy 3 personal editions(same as enterprise edition) OR you can buy an user based enterprise edition for test environment. I believe minimum you need is 10 user based licenses. Also, if you think that you are not using any enterprise features, you can always go for user based standard edition which will be much cheaper as compare to enterprise.
2) You can find some Oracle partners who sells the licenses. Sometime they give you a good discount. I personally do not think Oracle will give you enough discount for these small number of licenses. -
Oracle server license difference between Standard & Enterprise Edition
Hello All,
I have basic folowing question for Oracle server "Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3)" version.
I ahve to purchase license , which one should I purchase , standard or Enterprise edition.
1) Is there different license required for Standard Edition & Enterprise Edition of above given Oracle version?
2) Or same license will work on Standard & Enterprise edition ?
If I have to use Oracle 10g Release 2 *(10.2.0.4)"* , I have to purchase new license or "Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3)" license wil work for (10.2.0.4) ?
I need above infromation on urgent basis....Many of the questions you ask are discussed in the Software Investment Guide found at http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/index.html
In general, you purchase either a Named User or a CPU license for a product. At the time of purchase, you decide whether it is a perpetual license or a term license which has an expiry date. You get a contract (which you should read) in which the limits are described - the limits may include which (or how many) machines you can install the product on.
When you buy the license, you also buy support. The support usually provides unlimited access to Metalink to ask any questions and download any patches. A support contract (which you should read) is 1 year long and is tied to a specific license purchase contract. You can not, for example, download patches for a licensed system and use those patches on other non-licensed systems. At the end of the year, you purchase a new support contract for another year.
The version of the product for which you can purchase a license is always the version that you can download at http://edelivery.oracle.com If you want to change the version number (for example, go to 10.2.0.4) you start by installing the downloaded version and apply a patch set (from metalink) to upgrade that installed version.
