Enterprise HANA on Cloud vs on-premise

Hi,
As I understand Enterprise HANA on cloud is a monthly subscription model where a client bound by stiff budget constraints can start off with HANA implementation. Ofcourse, it does offer more advantages as well.
With all of this, I wonder why I haven't seen many HANA on Cloud customers as opposed to on-premise.
Can someone please help me look at the disadvantages of Having a Cloud based solution?
Thanks,
Shyam

  • Enterprise HANA- SLT/ODP

    Hello
we are planning to get Enterprise HANA. we are already on BWOH ( BW 7.3).
    I have couple of questions:
    1. For Real time data -  is SLT the best option ( considering SAP's future roadmap)?
    2. In order to use ODP's -  can some one please point me to the configuration and steps? ( Intention is use ODP enabled DS into BW as well to the replicate SAP/Non SAP data in real time to HANA studio)
    3. when we create a new Source System in BW for the ODP/ECC extractors and enable the DS for ODP what happens to the "existing extractors."
Do we get a "separate" delta Que in ECC- one for ODP data source and one for the existing BW system.? In otyher words, do we control on the delta's?
    4. can we use ODP for BW 7.31 or do we need BW 7.4?
    Thanks

  • Sales cloud and On premise OBIEE integration

    Hello
Customer has Sales cloud and on premise OBIEE 11g and would like to embed OBIEE dashboard to sales cloud customer screen. Simple adding of HTML iframe doesn't work, as I guess clickjacking protection is working. So question is how is possible embed on premise OBIEE dashboard to Sales Cloud. For on priemse Fusion application I found property oracle.adf.view.rich.security.FRAME_BUSTING which switch on or off clickjacking protecton. Is it possible to disable this property on Sales Cloud?
What other way of embeding of OBIEE reports are available?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vladimir

    Hi Vladimir,
the clickjacking protection you mentioned is indeed in place, but it is meant to prevent the embedding of Fusion Apps (incl. Sales Cloud) UIs into iFrames.
Your scenario seems to be the other way around: you want to embed content into an iFrame provided by Sales Cloud, right?  In that case, the clickjacking protection of the embedded UI served by OBIEE comes into play.  And since it's on premises, you hopefully have control over it (though I don't know how you control it since I am not an OBIEE expert).  The way I typically test whether a page can be successfully iFramed is by building a very simple static html page hosted on a server somewhere, with its primary content being an iFrame for the desired page.

Bringing cloud technology on-premises in Exchange Server 2016We’re excited to announce that Exchange Server 2016 Preview is now available for download. At Ignite, we introduced Exchange Server 2016 and demonstrated some of its capabilities. Now you can install the bits yourself and get hands-on experience with the newest member of the Exchange family. We’re eager to hear your feedback as we progress toward a final release later this year. This version of Exchange is special because it was born in the cloud. From the depths of the mailbox store to the most visible parts of the Outlook web UI, the bits that make up Exchange 2016 are already in use across millions of mailboxes in Office 365. For the past several months we’ve been working to package up these capabilities and deliver them on-premises. This preview milestone is an important...

  • Exchange 2013 mailbox migration from third party cloud to on premises

    Hi,
we are currently utilizing a third party exchange 2013 cloud service to host user's mailboxes (  intermedia), now we implemented an exchange 2013 on-premises environment in Hyper V infrastructure and want to plan migration of mailboxes and related configuration.
cloud and on-premises environment have same SMTP domain ( Eg: XYZ.ORG) and currently an additional Temporary SMTP domain ( XYZ.CO ) used to test the external mailflow of on-premises since xyz.org is registered with cloud.
we need to migrate all mailboxes to on premises and enable XYZ.ORG for on-premises.
Pls suggest the prerequisites, steps, best practices for migration

  • BW on HANA, where BW is on premise and HANA in cloud

    Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to install BW on HANA, where the BW component is installed on-premise and the HANA component is in the cloud (i.e. AWS hosted). I do know that "BW on HANA in the Cloud" exists, but this is not what my partner would like to do!
    Thanks!
    Jeffrey D'Silva

    Hi Jeffrey,
No, I would not recommend that. If you put the BW components on premise (primary application server, additional app servers) and HANA database in cloud you will need a very high network bandwith to connect (min 2 Gbit/sec or higher), and you need to deal with the network latency as well.
Please steer your customer away from this idea!

  • Protecting users and their emails after FA-P2T on Cloud and on-premise environments

    Hello everyone,
I would like to share this helpful article to let you know how to protect user's emails after a FA-P2T(production to test) procedure on-premise environments, and make it possible for Cloud(thru SRs, if approved, of course).
thiagoleoncio: Protecting users and their emails after FA-P2T on Cloud environments
    I hope it helps,
    Thiago Leoncio.

I had exactly same issue. And it was hard for me to troubleshoot too. Here is what I did,
Forced "Outlook Anywhere" even when users were in internal LAN. The issue did not appear. This gave me the idea that since Outlook Anywhere is encrypted (HTTPS) connection there was no interference with
traffic between Outlook and Exchange. This tells me that some other network devices were interfering with this traffic.
In my case, it was WAN Acceleration (Riverbed). Riverbed did acknowledged this issue and pointed us to their KB article. Good luck convincing your network guys though. If HTTPS work, keep using it. It
will eventually irritate the network guys as they cannot compress encrypted traffic ( if you don't provide them the certificate).
I know this is shot in the dark as I don't know your network.
Exchange server reboot could be completely different issue. I have no idea why.
    I hope this helps.

  • On-Demand/On-Cloud vs On-premise or HybriD ?? What next..

    Hi CRM Enthusiasts
A short intro about me, graduated in IT and joined one of SAP Consultancy firm back in 2006. And from there I was involved in numerous CRM implementations across the globe. So my forte is SAP CRM & Middleware, and light on ECC modules.
I started on SAP CRM 4.0  back then, and from then to now, things have evolved slowly but in a good way surely.
Now, as part of my job profile, I am responsible for designing the CRM architecture and action plan for next 5 years for my current employer. Its fascinating how things got changed in past one year or so, like Hybris acquisition, this came as a shocker as many of the companies did a huge amount investment in WCEM including mine, there are definitely pro-cons comparing WCEM with Hybris (Its not all  about look and feel) I believe. And I want to believe that this investment is worthwhile.
Coming to a point now, what next ? We have got CRM on-premise and there is not much of it used today in our business, but there is huge opportunity to CRM to grow here. So is it worth building the blocks of Marketing, Sales, Interaction Centre on CRM 7.0 or should we start investing our resources On-cloud/On-demand SAP Cloud for Customer solutions. If it’s later, what are the limitation when compare to on-premise, I know this question is very wide, but for me and I guess, everyone out there need to know, how quickly and when we can get all the functionalities of on-premise with on-cloud or is theew an interim Hybrid solution integrating On-cloud (front end) with On-premise ??? What is the transition strategy of SAP ?? What happens to On-premise Customers ?? How secure is On-cloud?
There was a lot of buzz of this in Sapphire 2014, is Cloud the next big thing ?? If yes,  can we have a SAP road map  for this solution and how much will this solution support when compared to CRM on-premise solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers
    MMM

    Hi MMM,
Yes this product from SAP is indeed beautiful. You should also learn about SAP JAM in case you're not aware.. SAP JAM would definitely erase all earlier notions that SAP products can't look sexy
Regarding strategy of SAP, with the amount of time Cloud solutions are getting in SAPPHIRE, I can guess that the product is here to stay & SAP is coming out with new features & industry specific modules on a quick pace..
Now coming to your query on using C4C as a standalone solution.. Yes it can be used provided you utlise marketing features only.. For sales, it would lead to opportunity win/loss stage & for service tickets, it would end as "work completion"
Unlike SAP CRM, you cannot create sales/service orders or create invoices in C4C.. This is a 'line of business' solution.. Now the "popular CRM cloud solution" I talked about before also can't make invoices or sales orders except maybe through apps which needs to be customised & configured.
I had a query on CRM, while invoices are created, is financial settlement also taken care by SAP CRM on-premise or you need to integrate with ERP Fi-CO?
Now coming to your last query on SAP C4C for customers who aren't in SAP landscape. We specificaly did an integration with non sap BW for a major chemical company using middleware and the results are quite good.. I'll encourage you to go through several blogs posted by mentors which can help you to understand C4C capabilities.. I found this document to be quite useful.
    With Regards,
    Rahul

  • Cloud and On premise BizTalk integration.

    Hi,
Currently we have one .net web base application(On premise) integrated with finance system(On premise) using BizTalk server(On premise). here we have published orchestration as WCF service to get read only data from finance system to display in .Net web
    application.
Is it possible another application(.net) in cloud use same WCF service (published from orchestration) which is hosted in BizTalk server (On premise) ?
Could you please suggest some approve here with minimum code/design changes?
    Thanks and Regards
    Suman

    So flow will be
(1)Cloud base application's request -> (2)BizTalk service hosted in cloud -> BizTalk receive location (On premise) -> Finance system -> Response from Finance system ->Response to BizTalk service hosted in
cloud -> Response to Cloud base application.
Could you let me know which binding (NetTcpRelay/BasicHttpRelay) is preferable on performance base in hybrid application.
Can you refer to me some link/blog?
    Regards
    Suman
    Not exactly.
    First, it can be "any
based application request". Client can be anywhere.
Second, the Azure Relay service calls the same on-premises hosted BizTalk service. The Relay service works as an intermediary service, hiding your BTS service from external clients.

  • Developing in cloud for cloud and on premise solutions

    Hello,
I'll be developing software and plan on doing the development in the cloud to help with programs like Successfactors. Will the programs that I develop in the cloud be useable, 'as is' for the on-prem versions of that software? Is this the same for all other SAP cloud offerings?
    Thanks,

    Hi Jim,
You can become a partner with access to a SuccessFactors system for a very reasonable price:
    https://www.sapappsdevelopmentpartnercenter.com/en/get-started/cloud-applications/successfactors-extensions/
however, I'm not sure this would give you access to the provisioning area of SuccessFactors where you need to make the SAML/SSO configurations.
Generally you must be a SuccessFactors partner and have completed the Introduction to Mastery course before you get provisioning access.
But if anyone can help you out the SAP teams in this area are the most helpful anywhere!
    Good luck.

  • Queries on Fusion P2P (on cloud) and Oracle GL (on premise) coexistence

I have a few queries around co-existence model e.g Fusion P2P on Cloud with R12 GL on premise.
In the Oracle Enterprise Repository (OER) , there is a scenario for coexistence solution of Fusion P2P (on cloud) with Oracle GL  (on premise). Assuming P2P is on a SaaS solution, i am  looking for specific guidance around the following ..
    1. What are the incremental steps / activities needed to connect the SaaS P2P environment with on-premise R12 environment?  Is there any Oracle document that talks about these steps ?
    2. Assuming that there is no change to the Legal Entities, Ledger and COA as existing in the on-premise environment; how will these common setups become available in the SaaS P2P environment. Same for employees defined in HRMS software. Does this need additional configuration activities (outside of the Procurement and Payables configuration) to be done in SaaS environment ?
    3. Should there be a need to have a  new ledger and/or BU for this Fusion P2P process , does this Ledger / BU need to be defined on the Cloud environment or on the on premise environment ?
    4. In the Oracle packaged coexistence model for Cloud P2P with on premise GL -  is Cash Management considered to be part of Cloud or on premise environment? The swimlane process in OER does not show Cash Management module ..
    Thank You !!

    Hi @Sunshyn2005
I timed-out waiting for advice, and contacted HP Support, who helped me get the printer back on the air.  While we didn't manage to root-cause it, in the course of trying various things, the tech disabled Norton 360's firewall, which then allowed connecting to the printer, and restoring print service, which remains up after re-enabling the firewall.
The timing of the disconnection doesn't neatly corellate with any Windows updates.  My own theory is that it was caused by a 360 update, but am unable to find a smoking gun, since 360 doesn't provide update history.  The exact root-cause remains a mystery, but at least provides another thing for folks to try should they find themselves in similar straits.
I really appreciated your hint that a Windows update might be the root cause, and your pointing out how to review the history and back-out updates: this morning, I found that Windows had installed a batch of updates overnight, and found that no browsers worked.  Using your advice, I rolled back the update, restoring browsing.

  • Free/Busy Error from Exchange Online Cloud Mailbox to on-premise

Hi, have a successful federation configured between Exchange 2010 SP3 (latest Roll up) and Office 365. This is to allow free/busy lookups during various migration stages (this is not Exchange Hybrid). Autodiscover works well and all functions work ok.
On-premise users can see cloud users free/busy
Cloud users cannot see on-premise users free/busy.
All local based free/busy works on-premise and in the cloud.
The Exchange Connectivity tool returns the below error from all accounts, this is the only error:

Any help or guidance would be appreciated as this is the only error we receive now and everything else works.
    Kind Regards, Antonio.

Yep, indeed it does, except the password works when carrying out an autodiscover test, when testing free/busy that error appears. Lookups for free/busy work from on-premise to cloud, cloud to on-premise does not work unless you explicitly allow permissions
on a user basis. The on-premise Exchange 2010 SP3 environment is using an external wildcard cert and thought this could be causing the issue, may consider updating to SAN based. What do you think?
