Internet explorer Enterprise Manager connectivity on the 2nd database
I am using oracle 10g release 2 on Linux red hat.
I just created using DBCA utility another database on the same oracle instance. When i try to connect using Internet exploere Oracle enterprise manager it goes to the connectivity of the 1st database. I am using
http://<IP address>:1158/em/console
How can i get the connectivity for the new database? You need to make sure the EM dbconsole is running for the second database. On your Linux host do the following:
export ORACLE_SID=<second db SID>
emctl status dbconsole -- to see if it is running
emctl start dbconsole -- to star the dbconsole
The output will give the proper URL to connect to the EM console. -
Enterprise Manager Connections
Hello,
I have used Oracle Enterprise Manager previously and all my connections used to work, but now some of my connections are no longer working and now simply provide a message box stating "ORA-12514: TNS listener does not currently know of service request in connector descriptor". The database I am trying to connect to again runs on UNIX and is currently Oracle 10g.
Can someone advise please? Forgive my igorance in ths matter but DBA stuff is not my usual thing.
Thanks in advance
Regards
AlanoHi,
I have it working. It was nothing to do with the listener obviously because I managed to get logged in without doing anything with the listener. However, this is strange because it only allows me to log in as the SYS user ubder "Normal" mode!!! Anybody have any ideas?

Web Browser Management Connection Refused
Since upgrading from my old Panther PowerBook to my new Tiger one, I have lost the ability to manage my Netgear router and my HP network printer via Safari. Strangely, my Netgear router at home actually works better (I used to have to go back into OS9 to change settings as Panther didn't work at all), but the devices on the corporate network at work don't seem to like Tiger. I get this message:
(111) Connection refused
I don't really now how to troubleshoot this...
Oh, and it's the same with other people's Tiger Macs - and from 10.4.3ish on.
Thanks!I don't think it can be that simple because it is consistent across more than one machine and it doesn't work from Firefox either (just checked that).
I think it must be to do with being on the corporate network, so I need to know what might have changed in the Mac OS that would cause this issue. I recently lost the ability to access the Exchange server, which turned out to be due to a change in Mail's SOCKS access under 10.4.7 (fine under 10.4.6). Something similarly obscure (to me) could be causing this other issue, but I've no idea what... -

When i check with netstat it does seem that port 3201 is not in use (although it suppose to be used by enserver.exe).
I've checked the config tool parameters java parameters with another working BW java portal - they match.
Does anyone have a clue ?
Thx
Adi J.Hi,
You should override SecurityManager.checkConnect(String host, int port) to implement your own procedure for checking the ip address from the client.
If you have the JDK source, then take a look at the implementation of ServerSocket.implAccept(Socket s) and you'll see how the JDK currently checks wether a connection is allowed or not.
Hope this helps,
Kurt. -
Problem with EM (Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database)
Hi all,
I've Oracle DB 11g Rel.1 installed on Windows XP SP3. The database is up and running i.e. everyone can connect to the DB by using any App tool e.g. SQL*Plus, Forms, or Reports. It means that the listener and the service is running. But the problem is that when I try to start the EM I see some error messages on the webpage.
It says:

please see the attached file:
http://rapidshare.com/files/404840300/em.JPGI've already checked all the services, they are running. And when I execute emctl command I got the following message.

Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.I have checked some documents around config files in sysman and test_orcl\sysman directories. Moreover, I have checked dbsnmp and sysman account for unlockness and password accuracy. But they did not help me to solve the problem.
My question is if every thing is working fine then what is the problem with the EM? Why it is not connecting to the DB?
Thanks.

Please tell Me what is the problemTony Cool,
Please don't post this in every forum you can spell. You also posted this as [email protected] in comp.databases.oracle.server.
The only thing you should do is
Look up the error messages in the online documentation and work from there.
This are known errors, the solution is all over the Internet, there is really no need for you to request volunteers to deliver it on your doorstep for free.

Cannot connect to Enterprise Manager
Hi,
I am using Oracle 10.2g for our database, which is growing regularly on a daily basis. Today, the database ran out of table space (which happened before too and I have resolved it by adding another table from EM).
So, when I tried connecting to Enterprise Manager (EM), i was unable to connect to it.
https://<localhost>:1158/em/console/logon/logon
I did some research and found some tips for the same:
1) Resize the table-space by using .. "alter database datafile" .. command. It did not work.
2) Restarted the computer but it did not work too.
The surprising part is that I can connect to the database using SQL/Toad but I simply cannot login to Oracle EM. Can anyone please help me?
Or can anyone help me on how to add another table (because the one I am using currently is maxed out) from SQL+?
Thanks,

Enterprise Manager not able to connect to the Database Instance
After logging into the OEM as a SYS user , I was able to mount the database . The Database status shown to me as below,
Listener - up
Agent Connection to the Instance - unavailable
Database instance- down - message - Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance.
After that I tried to connect to the database through sql developer , I was able to connect using connection for the SYS user and able to run the queries .d
So How can I be able to connect to the Database Instance using OEM ?
Please suggest me what to do or what to check ...
Your help will be appreciated...965493 wrote:

The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=orcl)))ORA-12514 ALWAYS only occurs due to a problem on DB Server system.
One cause of this problem is when the Oracle database is down & needs to be started.
A remote client send a request to the Listener asking to be connected to a specific service.
If/when the listener does not know anything about that service, the listener responds with ORA-12514
post results from the following two OS commands:
lsnrctl status
lsnrctl service
Since every connection request to the listener gets logged, listener.log file will contain a line with 12514 as status code.
This line contains valuable debugging details. So post this line & surrounding lines.

10g on enterprise linux AS 3 - connection refused when attempting to ...
I recently installed 10g on RedHat Linux Enterprise AS 3. The installation appeared to go seamlessly and immediately afterwards I was able to access SQL PLUs via
http://localhost.localdomain:5560/isqlplus and login as system and perform queries. Shortly thereafter, this stopped working. When attempting to relaunch the browser and direct to this address, I receive the error: The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost.localdomain:5560. The same error is received for other urls , e.g. ..ulrasearch, em etc.
I checked some of the prior postings that discuss checking configuration files for Apache, etc. I don't seem to have an Apache directory created anywhere although it is referenced in some of the log files.
Rebooting the machine makes no difference.
I am new to 10g and running Oracle on linux so any help is appreciated.Alison is right,
For the another processes you need to type :

I am running a Oracle 10g database in Solaris 10 server. When i am trying to connect to the enterprise manager it says Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance.

it says that the EM is running. But when i am trying to access the URL it is in IE it says Page cannot be displayed what could be the problem for this???

And i would like to know how to set up the environment variable for Oracle_HOME and ORACLE_SID.
Please kindly assist me on this.Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

Dear all,
I have trouble to connect em console to database instance. My database is 11.2.0.3 and before this I did the patching from version 11.2.0.1, and now i cannot get fully functionality of em console.
error is:
Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.
It shows that agent is connected, database and listener is up.
I did recreation, dropping and recreating with emca, but no success.
Did anyone have similar problems with em console?
Regards,You need to first of all, Connect to the Database as SYSDBA (because your were not connected), then start the database (because it is not started).
If you already used the username and password in the command prompt and you are sure that the database is already stared, then you need to set the ORACLE_SID before you open SQLPlus. This is because if SQLPlus does not know the SID you are connecting to, it simply thinks it is not up or has no service hence the message "Connected to an idle instance". -
Enterprise manager is not able to connect to database instance
Hi
I am having a problem with Oracle EM. I would appreciate very much if anyone can help me.
I installed Oracle on XP which runs on virtual pc on XP as well. Everything is fine, I can connect to database with sqlplus, and there were no errors during installation.
But the problem is that, when I try to connect to database with EM, it says:
Enterprise manager is not able to connect to database instance . The state of the components are listed below.
Can anoyone help me?user10637311 wrote:
When you want OEM DB , your existing DB should be created by DBCA or if suppose manually creaed DB then you have to configure that DB to EM by
"emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create". for these two cases istener should be running.
emctl start dbconsole -> to start dbconsole service
emctl status dbconsole-> status of servicesI am sorry, I was looking at $ORACLE_HOME\admin . And in the proper path, both listener.ora and tnsnames.ora do exist.
