Hi,
Welcome 2 Oracle Forums :)
1) Make sure the host credentials you are providing are the owner of the oracle software.
2) Make sure the database and listener is up and running.

  • Enterprise manager console for 10g.

How do I get enterprise manager console for 10g? I installed 10g on my machine awhile ago and just noticed that enterprise manager console was not installed with it. When I installed Oracle 9 a while back, the console was installed automatically.

DB Control Repository is needed to run EM. To create it you can use emca or dbca command.

  • Stopping the Enterprise Manager Console (Oracle 10g on SuSE 9.1)

I'm trying to stop the Enterprise Manager Console by issuing the command:

Unfortunately, the command fails to stop the EM Console. Here's the output I get:
    TZ set to US/Pacific

Stopping Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control ...
--- Failed to shutdown DBConsole Gracefully ---
    failed.
The only way I can stop the EM Console (and related services--i.e., emagent) is to kill its process.
Everything (Listener, DB Instance, EM Console) starts fine. I can stop the Listener and DB Instance without any problems. It's just the EM Console shutdown that doesn't happen cleanly.
Has anyone else encountered the same condition? If so, what was the solution?
    Here's my operating environment:
    SuSE 9.1 (Kernel 2.6.5-7.108-default)
    Oracle 10g
Thanks in advance for any help/insight.

Has anyone else encountered the same condition? If so, what was the solution?Yes. Shutdown/reboot of the system made the error go away.
    Sorry, no better clues,

  • Need to configure Enterprise Manager after Oracle 10g installed on Windows7

I have installed Oracle 10g on Windows7 machine. At end of installation a error msg pop up saying "Enterprise Manager is not installed properly. You can install it using emca.bat file later".
I then run emca.bat file. But EM was not installed yet.
Any solution to install Enterprise Manager would be great.
    Thanks.

Not many people run into this but one has before: Too many columns to be shown in the Enterprise Manager 11g?
I can not find a known bug related to EM/CC, however a lot of bugs exist if you search in MOS for java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 128
So, best is to create a SR.

  • Unable to access Oracle Enterprise Manager in Oracle 10g AS Machine

    Hi All,
We are working on oracle forms 10g in 3 tier architecture. I have installed oracle 10g Infrastructure (OraHome_1) followed by oracle 10g Application server (middle-tier,OraHome_2). I have copied all the forms to OraHome_2\forms folder and compiled them successfully.
When i tried to access enterprise manager (Infrastructure)thru http://myappserver:18100, i was unable to do so. It displayed "page cannot be displayed".
    Also
When i tried to access enterprise manager (middle-tier)thru http://172.16.1.1:18101, i was unable to do so. It displayed "page cannot be displayed".
I checked for port status, thru “netstat –na” command, It was displaying
    172.16.1.1 18100 TIME_WAIT
    172.16.1.1 18101 TIME_WAIT
    172.16.1.1 7777 TIME_WAIT
Why is that i am unable to access the Enterprise Manager?

    Hi All,
I was able to resolve the issue. Thr was a proxy server enabled in the IE in AS machine. Once i checked the option for bypassing it and turned off the windows firewall(OS was win 2003 server). I was able to view the home page at http://myappserver, then was able to access EM also.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Error(s)

I recently installed Oracle 11g on my computer and am playing around with it and have come across two errors that i see are pretty common but i cant wrap my head around whats going on.
    Scenario 1:
I start up my computer, no services are running (OracleDBConsoleorcl, OracleTNSListener & OracleServiceORCL) are all not on.
I go into control panel->Services and turn on OracleDBConsoleorcl so i can log into enterprise manager.
When I enter enterprise manager I see that i can start up the listener or database instance.
I start up the listener (no problems) but when i try to turn on the instance I then get the error
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect
    descriptor
When i go back to the control panel and services and start up OracleServiceORCL then everything works as expected.
Why am i not able to start up the oracle instance via the enterprise manager?
    Thanks....

EM can only connect to the DB via SQL*Net.
When the DB is down the listener does not know anything about the DB.
When EM tries to connect to the DB the listener reports it does not know how to complete the connection request

  • SQL Tuning using Enterprise manager in oracle 10g

    Hi,
In oracle 10g you have the enterprise manager which can be used to tune sql statements using the SQL Tuning ADvisor and SQL access advisor.
I believe in oracle 10g the process of SQL Tuning is slightly easier using the Enterprise Manager ...so if some one could explain me that process...
    Again thanking you in advance

  • Works in Enterprise Manager version of 10g but not standalone (OC4J)

ok.... on one box I'm running 10g Enterprise Manager version of the app server (v9.0.4) and on another box I'm running the standalone version of the app server (OC4J v9.0.4). I have an ear file that works in the EM version, but won't work in the OC4J version. (the ear worked in both app servers until recently when we added some code using classes in jakarta-poi-2.0-pre3.jar..... added this jar file to the WEB-INF/classes folder of the ear file; the orion-application.xml file library path points to this folder for its library (because some of our classes on the EJB side of things use the classes in the jar file) so in theory the jar file should be found by the application (and there are other jar files in there that ARE being found on both versions....)). So.... any ideas why the standalone version (OC4J) would be having problems? Could it be that a different classloader setup is used in OC4J?
    Scott

well, I found the problem.... the orion-application.xml file in the C:\OC4J\j2ee\home\application-deployments\[appname] folder was not being updated with the new version upon redployment.... don't know why that wasn't happening. I'm using hot deploy and redeploying the application by copying the ear file to the C:\OC4J\j2ee\home\applications folder. Shouldn't this cause a refresh of the files in the application-deployment folder too?? In any case, I manually edited the orion-application.xml file in the application-deployments folder to reflect the new library conditions and it works..... Additional info: i just redeployed the app again, and the timestamp on the .../application-deployments/orion-application.xml file was updated, so it appears that it is being updated but apparently from a cached version that does not reflect the new version of the orion-application.xml file in the new ear being deployed.... strange and sad.

  • Oracle 9ias Enterprise Manager error

    Hi guys,
I'm getting the following error when i access my Enterprise Manager:
    Servlet error: Renderer failed: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
It's my first access to the EM.
The server is instaled in a Windows 2000.
Someone can help me with this error?
    Thanks

    Hi Fabio,
You have one emwebsite running per ORACLE HOME. Having said that you should have 1 em for the Infra and 1 for the midtier.
To access the corresponding emwebsite, you need to start the corresponding em process.
This is how it can be done:
    From the Services >
    Start the <..>ASControl process
    From the cmd like:
    GOTO OH/bin> emctl start iasconsole
    To start ONLY the agent:
    OH/bin> emctl start agent
From the error, you have mentioned it is difficult to conclude the exact cause of the error.
Can you please provide the following informations:
    1) What type of install is it?
(e.g. Infra on so and so machine + portal & wireless midtier on..)
    2) Can you please check the corresponding OH/sysman/log directory and scan the log files. Incase, you are unable to understand then please post the corresponding errors in this post.
I suggest, you stop your instance and start it in order.
This is what you can try:
    Stop you instance (All processes)
    In this Order --
    em of the midtier,
    process manager of the midtier
    em of the infra
    process manager of the infra
    database
    tnslistener
Check for runaway processes. If found kill it.
When all done start it in the following order:
    tnslistener
    database
    process manager of the infra
    em of the infra
    process manager of the midtier
    em of the midtier
    Thanx,
    Chetan.

  • Installation of Enterprise Manager for oracle 10g

    Hello.
have a database created on oracle 10.2.0.1.0, but I don't have installed the enterprise manager.
I need to install the enterprise manager to manage the database.
Anyone knows any procedure or any link to see some examples of installation.
    Thank you for your help

    A couple of quick points:
    1. 10.2.0.1 is many years old an in desupport mode. Currently supported versions are 11.1.0.6 and above.
    2. Enterprise Manager is not required to do anything and many of us prefer to not use it.
That said ... did you read the installation docs? Which ones? Please provide the link and explain what in the doc is not clear.

  • Can Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10g R4 manages Oracle DB 11g?

Are there some articles or documents for that?

I assume you are asking whether it is possible to run Enterprise Manager Grid Control without using the embedded database. The answer is yes. There is a step in the install wizard that ask you whether you want to create an embedded database, or use an existing database environment. Just follow the instructions on the wizard to point your EM server to the database of your choice. You can even run EM on RAC provided that you already have the license for it.
