Enterprise manager in rel (10.1.0.2.0)

hi
I have error in Enterprise manager console.
MY database is up and working.
when i start (emctl start dbconsole) EM. It's successfully started.
But as i open http://localhost:5501/em
IT is working but database is not open here!
I tried to make it up then it give error database is to be shutdown first.
But this is incorrect information.... My database is working in sql prompt fine.
Is there any way to solve it ?

Hi
You are right,There are two buttons called "Startup" & "Perform Recovery" so start the database using "Startup" button (and on next page fill all requested textboxes).
But when i tried startup it says database already started shut it down first.
By tring manualy i found database is fine open.Working for all users.
I have error message in logs and trace of Emagent ?

And i would like to know how to set up the environment variable for Oracle_HOME and ORACLE_SID.
Please kindly assist me on this.

Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

  • Problem with EM (Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database)

    Hi all,
I've Oracle DB 11g Rel.1 installed on Windows XP SP3. The database is up and running i.e. everyone can connect to the DB by using any App tool e.g. SQL*Plus, Forms, or Reports. It means that the listener and the service is running. But the problem is that when I try to start the EM I see some error messages on the webpage.
    It says:
Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.Database Instance (Green arrow)
Status     Open                         Details     The instance is open.
    Host          shiman

    Details
    please see the attached file:
http://rapidshare.com/files/404840300/em.JPGI've already checked all the services, they are running. And when I execute emctl command I got the following message.
    emctl status dbconsole
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control Release 11.1.0.6.0
Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    http://shiman:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.I have checked some documents around config files in sysman and test_orcl\sysman directories. Moreover, I have checked dbsnmp and sysman account for unlockness and password accuracy. But they did not help me to solve the problem.
My question is if every thing is working fine then what is the problem with the EM? Why it is not connecting to the DB?
    Thanks.
    Iman

Try to fragment the 'ear' in less than 64k blocks or don't transmit as long raw.
Please let me know if this works.

  • Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database

I want to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control 10.2.0.3 using an existing database. This database is RAC 10.2.0.2. and I use it as Infrastructure Metadata Repository.
I is said in Oracle documentation that SYSMAN schema has to be dropped, thus Database console repository has to be dropped. As far as I understand after Grid Control installation I will not be able to use Database console for my RAC 10.2.0.2 Infrastructure Metadata Repository database. I will be able to use only Grid Control for this database.
Am I right? Could you give me any advice about Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database?

  • Problem in Login to Enterprise Manager Cosole

I have installed ORACLE 9i Rel:9.0.1.0.1, after configuring the Mangement Server when I am trying to load Enterprise Manager Console program and when I enter username and password, I got an error says "Incorrect Login Credentials". If anybody can help me to solve this problem I will appriciate it.
    Thanks

    Ashar Najum,
The initial username and password for the OEM console is username: SYSMAN password: oem_temp for OEM version 2.2. After you log in the first time, it will ask you to change the password. From there, you can create other dba's to log in from their consoles to the same managment server.
    Hope that helps!

  • How to install Enterprise manager on two node cluster

    Hi,
I am new to Oracle working on 10g
can anyone post a document or link for step by step installation of oracel 10g enterprise manager on a two node cluster?
    Thanks in advance.

    userArshad wrote:
    Thanks Hans.
To be specific I have to install Database control .that means I need to use the GUI .
Also I could see database control and DBconsole service on on 1st node but I cannot find that in 2nd node. That is the normal configuration - you use the DB Control from node 1 and it gets the information using the agent on Node 2. The DB Console then displays the information for both nodes.
Please note that the DB Control will place a relatively heavy load on each machine, which is why we want to restrict our load to the agent. It is for that reason that we prefer to use the Grid Control whenever possible - it provides the same mechanism and screens, but the JEE platform is on a separate machine and all you have on the RAC nodes is the agent.
But if you really want to run the DB Console from each node (again, not normally needed) you need to use emca to configure it on the second node. Metalink note 863631.1 should help you with that.

  • OC4J Standalone + iAS enterprise manager?

    Hello everyone
We have recently been looking into OC4J standalone as a possible solution to our particular installation. We have an installation of iAS 10g2 which is configured so that each of our clients have their own environments; we mostly deal with legacy forms and reports. Each client has their own form listener, config files, report directories, etc. This is fine for our purposes.
The issue is with deploying applications in OC4Js. We could create an OC4J per client in iAS, but they would still all need the ias_admin password to deploy apps either through enterprise manager or JDeveloper. This is not desirable and is not going to happen.
With standalone OC4J we can have one per client, each with their different settings and passwords. Network ports are different for each client which is a bit troublesome but not a deal breaker. The big issue is with monitoring.
Is there any way to have the iAS 10g EM console include standalone OC4Js? Is there a way to do it from Grid Control?
Would appreciate any advice you may have.

There is recent a thread on here about how people have approached adding additional users over and above ias_admin for the purposes of managing EM. I haven't looked closely at the solutions yet, but I suspect that even by simply adding a new user as they are doing, the privileges the new user has will be the same as the ias_admin user -- in 10.1.2 (R2) and earlier it was a very coarse permission model.
And there's no support for managing OC4J standalone instances via EM or GC in R2.
What sort of applications are you deploying -- you mention forms and reports and in that regard you are restricted to R2. But if you are "deploying" custom Java applications, then using 10.1.3 (ie R3) may be an option -- in which case there are several things that may be of interest.
    1. We've added support for a finer grained management model. You can create new users with a smaller set of administrative privileges -- all, deploy-apps, monitor. So you can create a cluster of servers, each with OC4J instances and users can login with their specified username and perform the tasks they have been assigned. It's not ideal since the permissions are relatively coarse (all, deploy apps, read/monitor) but its better than what was in 10.1.3.
    2. If you wanted to pursue the standalone instance route, then with 10.1.3, each instance does actually embed EM, so it can be managed from a browser. With the pure standalone instances, you can't really collect them into a cluster -- each one is purely a standalone instance, but it now has its own EM console. However we have added an installation option to lay down what is essentially an OPMN managed standalone instance -- in which case you get the OPMN management layer around OC4J standalone, which in turn allows them to be collected into a cluster -- so you have a single point of management access for all the Oc4J instances. Again you could create an per instance user so that each user can only log into their own specific OC4J instance -- one thing to keep in mind that each instance does need the same global user provisioned to allow EM to operate correctly. But you can create additional users on an instance basis at will.
Again, all these things are in the 10.1.3 R3 release -- which if you are purely working with forms and reports won't help you. If you are deploying custom Java applications, then this is something you could investigate.

    Hi,
I'm Galit from the QE team of VIN.
All the things that you've described are correct.
It is actually an edge case where the only VM, that the manual App can be managed from its Map view, was removed from the App.
The Manual App management is as designed, and may be changed in the future.
There are 2 ways to overcome this situation:
1.You can, as you stated, create another Manual App with similar name and remain with the "Zombie App".
    2. To run a specific command that will remove the Zombie App from the DB.
Please note that option no. 2 involves using an API that we do not publish.
If you would like to use option no. 2 contact me in private and we will see about supplying the relevant commands to run in order to delete the "zombie" application.
    Thanks,
    Galit Gutman

  • Stopping the Enterprise Manager Console (Oracle 10g on SuSE 9.1)

I'm trying to stop the Enterprise Manager Console by issuing the command:
    ${ORACLE_HOME}/bin/emctl stop dbconsole
Unfortunately, the command fails to stop the EM Console. Here's the output I get:
    TZ set to US/Pacific
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.1.0.2.0
Copyright (c) 1996, 2004 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    http://<hostname>:5505/em/console/aboutApplication
Stopping Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control ...
--- Failed to shutdown DBConsole Gracefully ---
    failed.
The only way I can stop the EM Console (and related services--i.e., emagent) is to kill its process.
Everything (Listener, DB Instance, EM Console) starts fine. I can stop the Listener and DB Instance without any problems. It's just the EM Console shutdown that doesn't happen cleanly.
Has anyone else encountered the same condition? If so, what was the solution?
    Here's my operating environment:
    SuSE 9.1 (Kernel 2.6.5-7.108-default)
    Oracle 10g
Thanks in advance for any help/insight.

Has anyone else encountered the same condition? If so, what was the solution?Yes. Shutdown/reboot of the system made the error go away.
    Sorry, no better clues,
    Toni

    2. Check status:
    emctl status
EMD is up and running : 200 OK
    3. Start the web page
    http://myhost:1810/
    4. get following error
"There was no response. The server could be down or is not responding"
    System info:
    Database: 8.1.7.2
    OAS: 9.2.0.2
    JDK: 1.3.0_02

    Thanks in advance

    I'm having a similar issue.
Did a fresh install of 11.2.0.1.0 under Windows 2003 - latest updates - IE 8.
I can access Enterprise Manager from other computers - but not from the local server.
    I've tried both: https://oracle.xxxx.xxx:1158/em and https://localhost:1158/em
Both give me the generic "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" - but if I access from another computer it comes up - so I know everything is working...
