Enterprise manager locks up after installing VS,NET 10.2.0.1.0 Dev. tools
After installing the Oracle developer tools for Visual Studio .net 10.2.0.1.0, I am having trouble with the enterprise manager
I launch the manager stand-alone
When I click on any of the databases, the application freezes with the hourglass cursor and never opens the database
I tried re-installing the Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 client, but got no where.
After re-installing the Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 client, I re-installed the developer tools.
Same result
????
Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET 10.2.0.1.0 requires Oracle Client
10.2.0.1.0 and it should not be installed in the 9i Oracle Home.

Why I can't connect to Oracle Enterprise Manager via browser after install?
I've installed Oracle9iAS Release2(9.0.2) with Windows 2000 server (servicepack3) and Oracle9i database on the same host. After installation, I can use Oracle enterprise manager(via browser) by connect as "ias_admin" and "12345" for password (It's a password that I input at installing). But 2 days later, I cannot connect it!, what's happen to my 9iAS. I try to change my password in command line by "emctl set password <old_pwd> <new_pwd>, But I've got a message that is incorrect password. By the way, I use command line to start OC4J and HTTP Server instead. Please help me for this problem. Thank you very much.
Ps. I've got this problem for 2 time, but the first time I delete all of oracle products and install it again .If you have installed the Oracle AS 10.1.3 using an Apache in front the default port is 7777 as far as I know.
You wrote that the main page is accessible, that's why I would suspect that you might have a problem with your hostname. Are you accessing the mainpage via the full qualified hostname or via ip?
Please ensure that you can reach the server using the full qualified hostname!
If you are not sure about it, add an entry to your local hosts-file.
Please tell us if this was your problem!

Enterprise Manager not working after installed 10.2.0.4 Patch Set 6810189
I installed the 6810189 patch for Windows 32-bit and now I can't bring up Enterprise Manager (I don't have Grid Control, just plain jane EM). Any ideas on why this would be?
Thanks,
ivalum21Haha, yeah it was running. I did the EMCTL STATUS DBCONSOLE command, and it gave me the web address for EM, so I used that and it is working.
Apparently it uses "https" now and not "http."
Does anyone know, did Oracle change that for 10.2.x? I didn't realize EM used a secure connection...

After installing IOS 8.0.2 the phone has been locking up when using apps such as Facebook. The screen becomes unresponsive for several minutes after loading an app. Also, if you double click the home button to shut down the app the screen is unresponsive or the screen becomes black. I did not have this problem until installing the IOS 8.0.2. I have talked to a couple other people that have the 4S and they are experiencing the same problems. The iphone 5 users are not experiencing this problem. I suspect the processor is too slow to handle the new IOS and the 4S should have not be allowed to update to this IOS if the system was not going to work properly. Is there a way to fix IOS 8 or return to IOS 7?
Sorry, but there is no way to downgrade the iOS. To make sure your backup did not contain damaged files after upgrading and restoring, set it up as new device without using the backup and no 3rd party apps installed. If the phone is working after that, add the 3rd party apps back.

My Macbook pro 13" is locking up after installing Lion
Anyone else suffering the same problem?
By locking up I mean is unresponsive, mouse does not move. It became unresponsive while moving the mouse, not making a specific action. The keyboard is not responsive either.
Not sure if its a deadlock/livelock.I have a 2008 MacBook 13" and I frequently suffer from locking up usually right after logging into my desktop (there is one other user configured). This behavior started almost immediately after installing Lion. I have to hold the power button to shut it down in order to start it up again. Annoying.

Management Point fails after installing SCCM 2012 SP1
I'm carrying out an install of SCCM 2012 SP1 with the following hardware (fresh install not an upgrade from 2007)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Computer slows down and locks up after installing Xtreme Mu
I recently upgraded my Audigy 2 to the new Xtreme Music soundcard. The music sounds great!? Before install, I uninstalled all drivers from the Audigy 2. Now, my computer behaves differently. Before the login screen (Windows XP), my video flashes multiple colors for about 2 seconds. After logging into Windows, applications have slowed down (this is after installing the drivers for the sound card and updating the software to the latest from the website). For example, Email took some time to come up (outlook), and then a word attachment refused to come up. IE took considerable amount of time to launch. This is after running the computer with the sound card for a week.
The problems aren't consistent. I returned the card, and the salesman asked if I plugged in the external power (floppy dri've connector). I read the instructions, and they did not state to do this, but I will give it a try. I swapped the card for a brand new one and brought it home. This time, I plugged in the external power. Same symptoms, if not worse. It is sporadic, and sometimes worse than others.
This morning, my computer was working extremely slow opening IE or Outlook and reading email. I pulled the sound card and all is great again. Bummer!? I really like the sound this card produces. My fear is, will ANY X-Fi card do this or just the Xtreme Music?I have an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe (onboard sound has always been disabled). I didn't have any problems with the Audigy 2. 550W power supply, Gig memory, Pentium 4 2.8 GHz processor, and and ATI X600 video card. No other cards are installed in the system.I tried it is 2 separate slots. Same symptoms. I am looking to see if it is a power issue (not enough juice from a 550w power supply), or if there is a conflict. I still have the creative drivers and software loaded without the soundcard installed and no problems (So I'm ruling out the creative sound software).

After install Crystal Report Server 2011, can not access control tools
Afte install Crystal Report Server 2011, can not access control tools from web or from application.
My server OS is Windows 2008 R2 SP1. I follow the default setting. How to fix it?
Error message is above. Is Tomcat started? On your Start menu you should have an option to get to "Tomcat Configuration" or, under the CRS menu you can run the "Central Configuration Manager" to start Tomcat.
What URL are you using to connect to the web app? By default Tomcat runs on port 8080 so your URL should look something like this: "http://<servername>:8080/BOE/CMC" or "http://<servername>:8080/BOE/BI".
If Tomcat is running and you're trying to access it from another computer, check to see if the Windows Firewall is turned on for the server - if it is, turn it off for "Domain" access.
If Tomcat won't start, go to the folder where Tomcat is installed and then look in the "logs" folder. There should be a file called "stderr.log" which you can open in Notepad to see what types of errors might be occurring (you can ignore any errors having to do with "persisted sessions".) If there are other errors, post in the BI Platform space to get assistance.

Windows 7 Enterprise is not genuine after installing new hard-drive and cloning the old one
I retired from my job as a university professor two years ago, and they let me keep my laptop computer, which is a Dell Latitude E4300 with Windows 7 Enterprise installed. I do not have any of the original disks for Windows. Recently, the hard-drive began
to fail, so I replaced it with a new one, cloning the old hard-drive onto the new one. Soon after that, a popup window began appearing saying that this computer is not running genuine windows. One important consequence of this is that I can no longer use Windows
Update, so I have concerns about security. If I go to the control panel under “System”, it says windows is activated and gives me the Product ID. I have talked to tech support at Microsoft, and they tell me something along the lines of the following: that
the problem is the new hard-drive is not recognized as being licensed to use this copy of Windows, and that I should post a question on one of the forums asking this: How can I reinstall Windows 7 Enterprise on the new hard-drive? Any assistance will be much
appreciated.
PS I have no idea which forum this should go under, so pretty much just picked one randomly.Thank you for the reply. Below is the diagnostic report:

Management console problem after installing recommended patch cluster
Hello everyone.
I just got a new SUN 440 server, it didn't come with the solaris os installed and so I installed solaris 9 12/03 to it. The installation went fine and I could start the management console with no problems at all. Then I went to sunsolve.sun.com to download the latest recommended patch clusters for solaris 9 (this was yesterday Sept.-06-2006), I downloaded the file, checked it with md5sum, unzipped it, went to single user mode and ran the install_patch script. After the patch cluster finished installing I rebooted the server for the patches to take effect, I logged in, tried to run console management 2.1 and it starts OK but I cannot use any services it offers because it says (in the console events):
"Server Not Running: no solaris management console server was available on the specified server. Please ensure there is a Solaris Management Console server available on the specified host and that it is running"
When I click on "See Exception" I get (for a particular service that is... in this case com.sun.admin.fsmgr.client.VFsMgr - for managing file systems):
java.rmi.RemoteException: Server RMI is null:
at sun.com.management.viperimpl.client.ViperClient.lookupServer(ViperClient.java:376)and so on...
I already checked that the service is running on port 898 and it seems that there is no other app. using that same port. I also restarted the service using /etc/init.d.init stop/status/start but I get the same results.
I don't know solaris very much and don't know what else to do, please help.
Thanks in advance.Well, I guess what you see isn't what you get.
Guess I'm used to the fact USENET just left things formatted the way they were :-O -
Itunes 4 locked up after installing ipod-mini!
I just bought a new i-pod mini for a trip (I leave in 3 hours!), and after hooking it up and installing all of the songs in my itunes (which worked), my i-tunes totally crashed. Whenever I try to launch it now, it says:
"The itunes 4 music library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permissin for this file"
I ran the disk utility, and repaired all permissions. No change.
Please help!I also had the same problem - Gen 1 iPad and after repeatedly bugging me about the update & not wanting to do it. I went to get an iBook and it told me that it couldnt deliver the book until I updated. I relented and it just hangs up. After 4 attempts to restore it get an error -
"iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes."
obviously restore means delete and reset to factory settings, loose all my data etc etc
"The iPad cannot be restored at this time because the iPad server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable" Please try again later."
"The iPad could not be restored. An Unknown error occured (1603)" - So click more information and I get a web page at apple GRRRRRRRRRRRRR .... http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
Seriously - I have no idea how Apple succeeds at deliverying this device as mission critical or for any real business use. Its a crash happy device even without updates but now its just a dust collector. Nearest apple store is 120 miles away. -
Safari locks up after installing Mavericks
Ever since I installed Mavericks, Safari locks up (rainbow pinwheel) when I try to quit the application. I tried the Glims uninstall mentioned elsewhere on here to no avail. This has been going on since the Mavericks launch a month or so ago. I've never had this problem with Safari before. Any advice?
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

FireWire dropping--machine locking/rebooting after installing Clusterware!
I installed Clusterware 10.2.3 on 64-bit CentOS4.5 running on 2 AMD64 machines. Installation went fine and everything started/worked. But about after 2-3 hours (only Clusterware installed, no other Oracle software), things started going pretty bad -- multitude of problems surfaced -- all on a sudden FireWire drive disappeared or keyboard/mouse got locked or machine rebooted by itself -- halleluah!
Can you please tell what might be the reason & how to resolve it?
Thanks.Apparently, security programs like Macafee and Norton view Itunes updates as new programs and block then from access. If you add Itunes to the list of exemptions, it solves the problem.
