    1. Ensure that the REPOSITORY_URL configured in the <AGENT_HOME>/sysman/config/emd.properties file has the correct hostname of the OMS machine.
Refer Note 737373.1: Communication: Agent to OMS Communication Fails if the Agent's REPOSITORY_URL Parameter has Incorrect Value
    2. If the OMS is secured and locked (accepts uploads only in the https mode), then secure the Agent also.

Oracle(R) Enterprise Manager Delivers Unique New Capabilities for Top-Down Application Management
Tuesday November 13, 8:15 am ET
New Capabilities Address Cross-Tier Performance Diagnostics, Integrated Incident and Problem Management and Application Data Sharing
ORACLE OPENWORLD, SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Building upon its "top-down" approach to managing application and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure resources, Oracle today announced key new enhancements to Oracle® Enterprise Manager 10g. The new enhancements deliver a broad range of capabilities, across the application lifecycle, for custom and SOA-based applications and pre-packaged applications and include faster performance diagnostics for production applications; simplified incident and problem management through integration with Oracle's Siebel CRM HelpDesk and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications; expanded capabilities to manage Oracle Business Intelligence; and easy and secure data sharing across the application lifecycle.
Oracle's top-down approach to application management uniquely addresses the need for an end-to-end application perspective -- whether technology-focused or business-focused -- while enabling administrators to virtually eliminate the confusion caused by low-level system alerts that cannot be easily correlated to business exceptions. This has been a common and costly shortfall in traditional systems management software and frequently contributes to prolonged application downtime.
"Helping customers drive better business results is the essence of Oracle's top-down approach to application management," said Richard Sarwal, senior vice president of Systems Management Products, Oracle. "With the addition of Connectors enabling closed-loop incident and problem tracking with Siebel CRM and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications and breakthrough application performance management capabilities using Oracle Enterprise Manager's Application Diagnostics for Java feature, Oracle takes another significant step in fulfilling our top-down application management strategy."
"With this new release, Oracle is expanding both the breadth and depth of the application management capabilities available through Oracle Enterprise Manager, providing features designed for detailed diagnosis of Java application performance issues in production environments, with the ability to trace transactions between Java application servers and database sessions," according to Tim Grieser, Program Vice President, Enterprise System Management Software, IDC
Taking Application Performance Management to the Next Level
The new Oracle Application Diagnostics for Java capability in Oracle Enterprise Manager can monitor and diagnose performance problems in production Java applications with minimal impact on application performance and availability. Unlike most Java performance management tools that utilize bytecode instrumentation, Oracle Enterprise Manager's new feature has a highly innovative diagnostics engine that introduces less than one percent performance overhead on production applications and does not require IT operations to have a deep understanding of the application logic. The new feature also has a hot-pluggable architecture that enables the diagnostics engine to be deployed in heterogeneous middleware environments, without shutting down the application server. Oracle Application Diagnostics for Java is included in the Oracle Application Server Diagnostics Pack and the new Oracle Diagnostics Pack for Non-Oracle Middleware.
Improving Performance Diagnostics Across Application Tiers
Diagnosing end user performance problems has become increasingly difficult because of the increased deployment of multi-tiered web applications and the dynamic nature of web-based applications. With Oracle Application Diagnostics for Java, administrators now have powerful diagnostic capabilities by enabling application administrators to trace in-flight transactions and correlate user request activities in the Java application to corresponding activity in the database. Similarly, database administrators can quickly identify Java applications that may be causing resource contention in the database. This cross-tier diagnostics helps accelerate problem resolution by identification of resource bottlenecks across tiers.
Tighter Integration for Siebel CRM Diagnostics and Oracle Enterprise Manager
Siebel CRM diagnostic capabilities have been integrated with Oracle Enterprise Manager, providing a single integrated tool for problem diagnostics in Siebel CRM and its underlying infrastructure. Siebel CRM administrators can use Oracle Enterprise Manager for end-to-end management of Siebel CRM and to simplify Siebel CRM diagnostics based on user and server performance analysis. In addition, Siebel CRM customers can benefit from broader application support including Siebel CRM 8.0, 7.8 and 7.7.
Enhancing Management Capabilities Across the Application Lifecycle
New Management Connectors for Siebel CRM HelpDesk and Peoplesoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications allow the deployment of end-to-end IT incident and problem management solutions capable of unprecedented levels of automation and closed-loop remediation. The connectors enable Siebel CRM and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk customers to benefit from an integrated solution that spans the service lifecycle from incident logging and tracking to top-down management of applications including problem management, patching and provisioning across the technology stack. The bi-directional integration between Oracle Enterprise Manager and Siebel CRM and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications helps streamline key support processes by automatically creating service requests for incidents captured in Oracle Enterprise Manager. Support analysts using these help desk products are automatically empowered with respective corrective actions to accelerate problem resolution.
Expanded Capabilities for Business Intelligence Management
Oracle Management Pack for Business Intelligence is a new Oracle Enterprise Manager pack that extends the benefits of top-down application management to Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus. Using the BI management pack, customers can receive proactive alerts on impending problems, troubleshoot and tune performance problems, manage configurations, proactively enforce configuration policies, and enforce service level agreements on Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus deployments.
Easy and Secure Data Sharing Across the Application Lifecycle
Also new is the Oracle Data Masking Pack, to protect sensitive production data by using masking rules to replace confidential or sensitive production information with realistic but scrubbed data. This pack provides a scalable, secure solution for application data sharing for a wide variety of needs ranging from application development, testing, quality assurance as well as business processing. See related news release dated today.
    Availability and Pricing
The enhancements listed above are generally available today with Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 4.
Oracle Application Server Diagnostics Pack and Oracle Diagnostics Pack for Non-Oracle Middleware are priced at $6,000 each per CPU. Management Connectors are priced at $5,000. The Oracle Management Pack for Business Intelligence is priced at $10,000 per CPU. The Oracle Data Masking Pack is priced at $10,000 per CPU of the server where data is being masked.

This is expected behavious. It is because Enterprise Manager cannot run with the new server name. You can either go through loads to change the config files or simply drop and recreate the console.

If you have created a database with the Database Creation Assistant, you have already installed Enterprise Manager. Just make sure the dbconsole is started.
    set/export ORACLE_SID=<dbsid>
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl start dbconsole
You can find the URL to access Enterprise Manager DB Control with the following:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl status dbconsole

I have installed oracle 10g in my winxp machine. i am using enterprise manager. i am not able to shutdown the system as it asks for os username and password. i have provided my os username and password but eerror persiste. somebody pls help me to get rid of this.

Here I am using Java Type IV for database
    connection.
So,there was no necessity of creating DNS.How your app communicates with db shouldn't matter for the end user. Still, you may want to use a functional network name also for the thin client driver connection string.
So,is there any other way to solve this problem. What is the problem really? Do you not use dns for network naming? Maybe you have to manage the hosts file on every client then.

  • Is there any Enterprise Manager Utility that can help update the Hostname

I have installed An Oracle Database 12c and further planning to install Enterprise Manager 12c CC on top of this,
Since occassionally my system IP changes due to dhcp configuration, hence i prefer using hostnames instead of IP address and further update hosts.properties file iwthin C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
further in case if i have to change the hostname of my machine, is there any utility that will help to update the hostname across properties files of all the Enterprise Manager components ?
Also when installing 12c EMCC, i understand there is a pre-requisite to deconfig dbcontrol.
In my case when i run from on Oracle 12c Database home, - emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop,
    I get unkown command error.
C:\app\Oracle\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\BIN>emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
'emca' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    C:\app\Oracle\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\BIN>
kindly guide from where do i run the deconfig command or whether is it really required or not

  • Someone please help a complete beginner with Enterprise Manager!

    Question moved from
Someone please help a complete beginner with Enterprise Manager!
Please be gentle with me, I'm absolutely new to all this. We don't have a proper DBA and I've been tasked with the role. There is no-one else in the company with oracle experience and we don't have any support. Until now I've just used enterprise manager to manage the database, but now I have a problem..
We are using Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 10g. I (stupidly) installed some network monitoring software on our server (PRTG network monitor). I almost immediately uninstalled it and all components/registry settings, but it seems to have thrown something out regards the OEM web interface.
We used to access the OEM GUI through http://<hostname>:5500/em, but after installing/uninstalling the network monitor software the OEM webpage would only stay up for a few minutes, before saying 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'. Restarting the DBconsole in services fixed the problem, but again, only for a few minutes.
Spent all day yesterday looking at logfiles (they didn't make much sense to me), but seemed to be saying access was denied to the server ('actively denied it'). Lots of googling led me to believe I needed to reconfigure OEM by dropping and recreating it using:
    emctl stop dbconsole
    emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
    emca -repos recreate
during this process I was asked for various passwords and a port number? I didn't even know what to use as the port number but guessed it was 5500 ?!? (probably wrong). As it didn't work I used the default port number that I found somewhere on the web.
However now I am even deeper in the **** as this didn't work either, (some error about listnener?) and I have now lost the DBConsole in windows services. Obviously the OEM web console doesn't work at all now
I would be eternally grateful for some patient, beginners help here..I can post whatever log files are necessary - I just need to know what I'm supposed to be doing and where to start..
We used to log on to the OEM as 'SYSTEM', but nowhere in the process does it seem to ask me for the password for that (its asked me for SYS and SYSMAN)
It could be that I'm going about this completely wrong, but with only a days experience in all this its pretty hard to know what I'm doing really!
As you can tell I'm in way over my head..I just need OEM web interface to work!
    Thanks in advance

ok, thanks to helpful comments from other people in my initial thread (posted in general database forum), after rebuilding the console/repository I now have EM up and running. But there are more problems..
Firstly I have an error at the very top of the screen:
java.lang.Exception: Number of responses does not match queries
Also, the 'Host CPU' and 'Active Sessions' are blank and say 'No Data Is Currently Available' beneath them
my emagent.trc file contains this error, repeating with different thread IDs every 30 seconds...
    (error = 10061)

    Sorry mate,
i have no idea why its showing different versions. I installed the software using the media i received thru Oracle for 64 bits.
I started the Windows service for dbconsole. It worked for a minute and the page disappeared again. Does it have something to do with firewall. I had set the Firewall off.

  • Enterprise Manager really slow

    Hi,
when I´m accessing our 10g with java-enterprise manager (10g) or with the webconsole, the access on "tablespace"-sektion is really slow (over 4min). There are 8 Tablespaces running on our 10g.
Accessing with same java-enterprise manager (10g) our 9i database, the access on tablespaces section (over 23 tablespaces running) is fast (<30sek).
    Does somebody know whats wrong?
    Regards,

  • Help with Enterprise Manager v9.2

While using Enterprise Manager console (with Windows XP), I have experienced abrupt termination by the Client/Console when I try to view tables within the Schema section (by clicking on a table name)...it just closes on screen before my eyes. This does not happen with all Service names defined, just some. It also does not happen with version 9.1. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix that you know of?
    Thanks in advance.

    Follow-up:
    1. No amount of tweaking the installation and naming has changed the behavior. The OEM v9.2 console application crashes when accessing table definitions -- no pop-up with an oracle or java error.
    2. I installed the Win 817 client (sans symcjit.dll) and DBAstudio performs as expected, i.e. one can access the table definitions without incurring an error that is not handled gracefully (pop-up with error message).
This is all very curious since there don't seem to be too many posts on the topic

  • Userid & password for Enterprise Manager?!! pls help.

I installed Release 2 9i Infrastructure, Application Server and Developement kit on one NT machine, they were all installed under separate Oracle Home like
    d:\oracle\oracleHome (for infrastructure)
    d:\oracle\ASHome (for AS)
    d:\oracle\SDKHome (for DK)
    1. I saw under 'Start/Programs' these folders contain similar things like 'Start/Stop HTTP Server', do I have to start each of these manually?
    2. I saw from the notes that we can check the status of the servers by going to the Enterprise Manager.
However, it prompts a window for userid and password. <== which user id and password does it needs?
    3. Is there only one Enterprise Manager for all (Infrastructure + AS)?
from my notes and memory during installation, i have only created an instance name and a ias_admin password! (but it does not accept)
Please tell me the clue to these, and the next step to start building a Portal home.
    Thanks very much,
    a very very newbie :-)

the relationship between the infrastructure nodes and the application server nodes is a one to many relationship. The infrastructure home should be the only home that the EMWebsite service has been started for.
the user to log in to em console is ias_admin/<password> if it does not accept the password that you set for this user then try it with caps lock on as you may have had it one when setting the password.
As 9ias release 2 has been designed with a multiple machine install in mind, if you install more than one instance (multiple oracle homes) on the server then you will end up with multiple apache processes and oc4j processes. This means you will be able to connect to 2 apache server homepages under different ports. That is why you get the same page.

  • Please HELP with Enterprise Manager

I'm new with Oracle and I don't know a lot of things.
When I create a New Database with the assistant, then I log in the Enterprise Manager and I don't see that database in the tree. Why?
If I open the enterprise manager in standalone mode then I can see that database.
    Thanks.

When you say you are not in standalone mode, I assume you are connecting to an Oracle Management Server which is running somewhere in your network. You need to discover your node. To do this you must start the intelligent agent on the server where you have your database. Then from the OEM console select navigator from the menu bar, and then discover nodes. Next enter the name of your server. OEM will attempt to contact the intelligent agent on that server in order to get the database information.
