  • Failed to install enterprise manager under linux

    When I installed Oracle 10g(10.2.0.1) under linux, I got an error when running
    /ora01/db/oracle/product/10.2.0.1/bin/emca within oracle universal installer.
    The emConfig.log file shows such error:

    So I have to run emca after the oracle installation. I am new to this tool. I modified both tnsnames.ora and listener.ora file to set port to 1521. And then I run emca -config all db,
    but now I cannot pass "entering the password for SYS user" (I already set SYS user's password to oracle, and it works when using sqlplus.) .
    I am totally confused. What should I run emca to set up the enterprise manager's website? Now I can use localhost:5560/isqlplus and localhost:5560/isqlplus/dba.
    Many thanks!!

    I just run emca as oracle instead of root, then the password got passed, but I got new errors:

    Hi Guys
    I have done a clean install on 11.1.1.6 and all I can get BIP, OBIEE Home and Weblogic fine. When I log onto Enterprise manager under http://host:port/em , I get to the log in screen and log in successfully but then I am not able to populate EM. I have tried changing the Browser to no avail.

I ask this because I see from the logs that the process is 'queiscing' the database so I was wondering if all user sessions had to be terminated. Otherwise, this process will just 'sit there' as if doing a 'shutdown normal'. It is taking a while....

    This is a common problem due the permissions and security policies you must assign to the OS user. Ensure the the user has been assigned the Local Security Policy "Log on as Bacth Job".

  • Error running Enterprise Manager Configuration Assistant

    Dear all, another problem.
    I've installed a Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 in a machine with Oracle Database 10g R2. After the installation process I started to create a Oracle Database because I hadn't done this with the Oracle Server installation process. So, everything was going fine till almost the end of the creation, when I got a message showing it hadn't been possible to configure the Enterprise Manager due to the following error:

    The message said I could do it using emca script later. I execute that script using

    Does anybody know how I can fix it and run the emca? I've tryed some google searches but I didn't have any luck.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi schavali
    I'll try to explain better what's going on with this database Im configuring. So, I installed OEL 5 from the zero, in a new machine, to install Oracle DB Server 10g R2 later on. I did the first step and the second one, which were Install OEL 5 with the packages needed and Oracle Database Server 10g R2. After these installations I went to create a database (I called it mki with SID mki). OK? So, when everything was done, almost at the end of the database creation I got a message that Enterprise Manager failed because it wasnt possible to allocate ports in the specifics ranges for JMS RMI Database Control and Em Agent.
    When I run netca I got a message saying the Listener could not be started because another software was using the port 1521.
    I did what you suggested. Ignored the listener port and tryed to create manually those ports necessary to run emca.
    In the terminal, I typed:
    $. emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create -JMS_PORT 5540 -RMI_PORT 5520 -DBCONTROL_HTTP_PORT 5505 -AGENT_PORT 1830
    So, the problem is, I didnt get to create any of those ports. I tryed every single port number that wasnt listed as free in /etc vi services and I could not go through. I tryed as a oracle user and with root as well. When I type a port that is not listed in the services, sometimes the error I get says that emca cannot create that port because is out of the range.
    Following the procedure to OEL 5 installation, I read it's necessary to select all the packages neeed by Oracle DB 10g R2 and it's also necessary to leave all others unselected. I didnt do that, I installed almost all the packages listed there in the installation. Could be that the problem? That is, if I install OEL 5 again with just the packages needed by Oracle DB could I go through Oracle Enterprise Manager Configuration Assistant? It's just a doubt.
    Thanks a lot for your attention

  • Stopping the Enterprise Manager Console (Oracle 10g on SuSE 9.1)

    I'm trying to stop the Enterprise Manager Console by issuing the command:

    The only way I can stop the EM Console (and related services--i.e., emagent) is to kill its process.
    Everything (Listener, DB Instance, EM Console) starts fine. I can stop the Listener and DB Instance without any problems. It's just the EM Console shutdown that doesn't happen cleanly.

  • Enterprise Manager - Hang Analysis

    I am using Oracle 10g Release 1 . On Enterprise Manager , Hang Analysis I am looking for a way to examine data from the last 40 hours. I had some frozen sessions starting yesterday morning and am searching for possible causes. The system is working fine at the moment. On the hang analysis option on Enterprise Manager there doesn't seem to be a way of examing past data.

  • How to configure Enterprise Manager Database Control (EMDC) to make it work on 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules

    Hello everybody i use Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.4 with DG.
    In those cases i need to get Enterprise Manager Database Control running against DB with no RAC and no DG i perform the following steps:
    I Logon SQLPLUS as user SYS or SYSTEM, and drop the sysman account and management objects:
    DECLARE
    CURSOR c1 IS
    SELECT owner, synonym_name name
    FROM dba_synonyms
    WHERE table_owner = 'SYSMAN';
    BEGIN
    FOR r1 IN c1 LOOP
    IF r1.owner = 'PUBLIC' THEN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM '||r1.name;
    ELSE
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP SYNONYM '||r1.owner||'.'||r1.name;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END;
    DROP USER mgmt_view CASCADE;
    DROP ROLE mgmt_user;
    DROP USER sysman CASCADE;
    After that i run
    emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
    But what should i do in cases i have 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules?

    Hi ,
    It is not possible to monitor/administer a Logical or Physical Standby database, i.e Data Guard, using Enterprise Manager Database Control.  This is primarily due to the fact that Database Control is designed to monitor 1 database and a Data Guard environment, by definition, includes more than 1 database.
    If you attempt to run emca against a standby Database, you will get an error like (i.e. ORA-01219: database not open).
    Database Control, can, of course, be used to monitor the current Primary database (with no ability to administer or monitor Data Guard related functionality).  In such a case, when failover occurs Database Control must be reconfigured to run on the new Primary database using the commands detailed in Note 278100.1 How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database, section C. Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, Option 2. Recreate the DB Control Configuration Files and Repository.
    Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control provides the functionality for viewing, monitoring, and administering primary and standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.

    You can use EM 12c cloud control to monitor and manager Standby DB effectively

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager "Performance" tab  (Oracle 10g)

    Hi,
    How to I make a report based on Performance TAB.
    View Data -> Historical
    Sessions
    Runnable Process
    Active Sessions
    Instance Disk i/o
    Instance throughput
    Explain : What is (example :*what is session for?* ) , What is X and Y (example :*what is X = Y= Time and date*)
    Please reply.. I need it by today.. :(

    The help file explains it a lot better than I can... therefore:
    Interpreting the Host: Average Runnable Processes Chart
    If you have opted to show both the CPU cores and CPU threads,
    consistent values somewhere between the two line values may
    indicate that too many users are waiting in line for CPU time.
    Compare the values with those of CPU Used in the Average Active
    Sessions chart. If the sessions value is low and the run queue
    length value is high, this indicates that something else on the host
    other than your database is consuming the CPU.
    If you have selected Memory Access mode, the Host chart does
    not initially display historical data, except when the screen was
    loaded recently and cached historical data is still available. Host data
    is cached starting from the time the screen was first accessed,
    and gradually fills the history on the Host chart.
    Interpreting the Average Active Sessions Chart
    The Session Count is computed by categorizing the time
    that all active sessions consumed in the last sampling interval
    into different wait classes, summing the amount in each wait class,
    and dividing it by the sampling interval. For example, If there
    are 3 active sessions in the last 15-second sampling interval, and
    each session spent half of the time (7.5 seconds each) on CPU
    and half of the time idling, then 3 x 7.5 / 15 = 1.5 active sessions
    on CPU appear for that sampling interval.
    Compare the peaks on the Average Active Sessions chart with those
    on the Instance Throughput charts. If the Average Active Sessions
    chart displays a large number of sessions waiting, indicating internal
    contention, but throughput is high, then the situation may be
    acceptable. The database is probably also performing efficiently if
    internal contention is low but throughput is high. However, if internal
    contention is high but throughput is low, then consider tuning the database. Selecting Memory Access Mode for Slow or Hung Systems
    You can click the Monitor In Memory Access Mode link in the Related Links section to enable Memory Access Mode. The Database Performance page reappears with a Disable Memory Access Mode button and a Switch to SQL Access Mode button in the upper right corner.
    You can temporarily disable Memory Access Mode by clicking this button, upon which the Database Performance page reappears in SQL Access Mode. To reactivate Memory Access Mode, click the Monitor In Memory Access Mode link again, then click Enable Memory Access Mode when the Database Performance page reappears.
    In Memory Access Mode, performance statistics are retrieved directly from the Shared Global Area (SGA) using optimized/lightweight system-level calls as an alternative to SQL. Memory Access mode avoids the computation associated with parsing and executing SQL statements, thereby making it ideal for severe cases of library cache contention that can prevent the instance from being monitored in SQL Mode. You should switch to Memory Access Mode for slow or hung systems.
    Pages in Memory Access Mode contain data sampled at a higher frequency than pages in SQL Mode. (Charts may appear to be slightly different from SQL mode for this reason.) Consequently, Enterprise Manager provides better information about where events begin and end, and can also handle short-duration events that might otherwise be missed.

    I've been logging onto Enterprise manager using the same credentials for months with

    I DID change some DB init. parameters, increasing the number of processes and cursor resources but that's it.
    Why is my "Performance" tab disabled now ?
    How can I get it back ?

    Try logging into your OEM again.
    Then go to 'setup' in your upper right corner.
    Once in the setup screen, go to the left border menu and select "Management Pack Access".
    Take a look if you have a check in the box for 'Database Diagnostic', and one for 'Database Tuning'
