Hi,
I downloaded Oracle 11g from oracle website and installed.
i am not able to connect enterprise manager
I tried to access that as start->all programss-->oracle-oracle 11ghome1-->database control-orcl
it went to mozila web browser and opened pages as

Failed to Connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 10.176.189.240:1158.
Can you please help me to connect enterprsise manager..

Standard Edition can only be licensed on servers with a maximum capacity of four processors.

Does Oracle 11g Express Edition 11.2.0.0 support the impdp utility ?

Hi,
We are trying to import an Oracle dump within a Express Edition, without success. We got the error message: ORA-39213: Metadata processing is not available.
A) Source data base: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0
B) Target data base: Oracle Database 11g Express Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0
Searching for solution led us to following forum entries:
1. http://kmpdba.wordpress.com/2012/05/02/ora-39213-metadata-processing-is-not-available/ Cause: DBMS_METADATA_UTIL package does not successfully ran. Solution: to install (among others) SQL> @$ORACLE_HOME/javavm/install/initjvm.sql
2. But: there is no @$ORACLE_HOME/javavm/install/initjvm.sql scrript -> http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/enterprise-edition/comparisons/index.html -> Oracle 11g EX does not support java
Questions:
a) Does support Oracle 11g EX the impdp utility at all ?
b) How would it be possible to import the above mentioned dump from (A) into (B) ?

Sounds like the messing xsl files issue here: Upgrade from XE10 to XE11
Try
execute sys.dbms_metadata_util.load_stylesheets;and see if you get the missing xsl files error.
The XSL files are not distributed with Oracle 11g XE, but seems to be pre-loaded in the default database created by the installer. If you try to create your own database it wont have the stylesheets loaded and you'll need the xsl files to load them up.
The quick solution will be to copy the 180 xsl files from an Oracle 11.2.0.2 Enterprise to your Oracle 11g installation ($ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/xml/xsl/) and load the stylesheets.

Oracle 11g clusterware installation issue.

In our test lab, we are facing the following issue.Kindly help us to resolve this issue.
Environment Details
O/S : Oracle Enterprise Linux
Database: Oracle 11g
Clusterware: Oracle 11g
The nodes are created using vmware.
All the pre installation checks using clufvy utility are successful.
During Installation of clusterware software, we need to run root.sh at the end on all the nodes. We have 2 node cluster. Root.sh runs successfully on node 1, but fails on node 2.

The trace files which **might** contain some useful error messages are :
a) The latest trace files under $CRS_Home/log/hostname/client directory
b) The OS Messages file ( /var/log/messages )
This information can then be used to google similar issues ..
Paste those messages here and I'll see if it rings a bell ..

Oracle 11g Database Schema problem

Hi I have installed the Enterprise Edition of Oracle 11g on windows XP SP2. I log in to Enterprise Manager. When I click on the schema tab I get the following error message.
Error
Internal Error has occured. Check the log file for details.
Does anybody know why ? and which log file they are refering to?
Also can someone tell me where or how you can create normal users ?

the related OC4J machine is failing, it could be due to a number of reasons. Sometimes it has to do with the TZ region Agent recognizes, but the only way to know it for sure is by taking a look at the operational log files. Those can be found at the EM Console directory under the ORACLE_HOME. You will see the ORACLE_HOME/EMConsoleDirectory/log at the log there are several files, take a look at them and feedback.

i've installation problems with oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5. In the section "ORACLE Net-Konfigurationsassisten" the failure "[INS-20802] Oracle NET-Konfigurationsassistent not success". What's wrong? I've followed the instructions on http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/smiley-11gr1-install.html
I've heard the problem can occur with problems in /etc/hosts? My /etc/hosts is configured:

Enterprise manager version with Oracle 11g

Which version of Enterprise Manager do I need to install with 64 bit Oracle 11g. What is the latest version? Where can I get this information. The latest version that I could find for download on Oracle website is 10.2.0.4, but the one that comes with 11g Enterprise edition says 11.1 (the one without the Grid control).

The latest grid control is 10.2.0.4 - note that you have to turn off instance status metric or you get too many files open - a bug that they are doing a patch for.
You are correct thou - 11g DB control is bundled with the db, but that is db control not grid control - a similar but unique product.

Deinstall Oracle 11g client hangs on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit

Hi,
I am trying to dinstall Oracle 11g client on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit but the process hangs when it reaches the following:
Removing Windows and .NET products configuration START
It just hangs there for ever!
Checking the log file C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\winprod_cleanup.out and I can see the last thing in there is ""Deconfiguring ODP.NET Component...""
Any idea what could be the reason?

I was able to resolve it...Apparently I was logged on as administrator when I invoked deinstall which caused it to hang when it came to the part where it was getting ready to deinstall the .NET components...I logged off and loged in as myself and invoked the deinstall and it completed successfully...

I was thinking: Do I export all the applications, tables,and data. Then un-install Oracle 10g and the install Oralce 11g. Then finaly, import the applications, tables,and data.

Oracle 11g installation on Linux Enterprise 5 remains hanging at 43%!

Hi all,
as per Subject, I have installed a Linux Enterprise 5 OS downloaded by Oracle Download Center and it is now installed following the nice Guide here.
I have added the missing Linux packages and set up the kernel parameters as per Guide quoted above.
If I launch the Oracle installation, it completes the packages and parameters check fine, install goes fine until 43% and then hangs.
It's not freezing as the Installation window shows ongoing animations, if I try to stop installation it responds immediately asking for confirmation.
It just hangs up!
The Linux machine is actually on a VMWare image on a MacOS Leopard host.
I have tried it on my laptop and desktop as well, but the hang point keeps being the same.
Any idea?

Oracle 11g-R1 Enterprise Manager Not Working

Hi to All Respected Gurus!
I am unable to access enterprise manager. When I enter https://10.0.2.106:1158/em, it gives me a window with following messages
Database Instance = Down, Host = 10.0.2.106, Port = 1521, SID = fgfc, Oracle Home= D:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\db1_
Listener = UP
Agent Connection to Instance = Down, Status = Failed, Details = ORA-28001: the password has expired (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin)
Please help me in this regard. Thanks in advance for your as usual cooperation.

Your DBSNMP password has changed or the DBSNMP has a (default) profile that forces you to change the password every xx days. I think the last is the case.
You could create a new profile with a password_life_time unlimited for the user DBSNMP or change in the default profile the password_life_time to unlimited (if security rules permit to do so).

Java Mail throws Connect failed error in Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition

I am using Oracle 11g Enterprise edition.I have a java class which is used for reading outlook 2010 inbox and download attachments from mails .For Connecting to OutLook from oracle i am using "POP3S" protocol in my java class. Which is working fine until my database is oracle-11g standard edition. Last week we are upgraded our database from oracle 11g standard edition to oracle 11g enterprise edition after that i can't connect to mail server through my java class which throws an error as follows.

I suspect root cause is with Java not Oracle.
Oracle RDBMS does NOT speak any "protocol" except SQL natively.

Yes you do need to set kernal parameters in order to meet pre-requisites, otherwise your installation will fail and oracle might not work or unstable.
