Enterprise monitoring tool

Hi experts!
Could you please recommend good third party tools for Enterprise SQL Server and Oracle performance monitoring. Currently we have 60+ database servers different shape and size spread all over our WAN unwatched.
Thanks in advance.

Hi !
Before going the route of 3rd party software you might want to check out what you already have.
For example Oracle comes with the Enterprise Manager, which is pretty good in the area of the Oracle databases and also for the Application Servers (AS Control and Grid Control).
Other vendors might have the same.
WIth GridControl you can also get a lot of info about the machines that are in your network, but no possibility to manager other vendor's db's. (planned for a later version).
When you enter the market of 3rd party Enterprise Management tools you will come across suites like Tivoli and HP Openview. Although these are very good they are also very expensive and difficult to administer.
If your main concern is to monitor some db's of different vendors give the packaged tools you already paid for a try and evaluate later if you need more than these tools can offer.

  • New monitoring tool for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP2 & higher

Did you know that there is a new monitoring tool available for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1?
It produces reports that summarise the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise system landscape and its configuration, helps out with troubleshooting issues and points out areas of concern.
It also delivers a lot of help with troubleshooting issues via Wily Introscope monitoring dashboards, an 'investigator' and transaction tracing.
You can read more about it in this blog: /people/miles.escow/blog/2010/12/01/remote-support-component

  • Oracle EPM 11.1.2.1 Monitoring tools

    Gurus,
could you please let me know what are the available system monitoring or performance monitoring tools for oracle EPM 11.1.2.1 or in case licenses are involved what are the best key areas for manual procedures to monitor the system?
    Many thanks !

    Hello,
Monitoring is a broad term. There are many 3rd party tools available that can provide monitoring, it all depends on what exactly you're looking for.
Oracle has a document on setting up Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor Hyperion Applications: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/sys9-oem-integration-1-129287.pdf. For performance monitoring, you can also look at this: https://blogs.oracle.com/pa/entry/epm_11_1_2_how3. This will basically connect to the JRockit JVM and look at the performance for the web application.
If you want to do more monitoring (services, servers, processor, CPU), you can look into Hyperic HQ: http://www.hyperic.com/. They have both an open source version and an enterprise version. I've used the open source version myself and it is pretty good and plays well with Windows. You can see many metrics, graphics and information via the web based application. You can also setup email alerts on certain activities (service stop, service start) and also monitor website availability. For being an open source software, I think it offers alot and it is very reliable.
Again, these are just a few suggestions. There are many tools out there that can accomplish what you're looking for.
    Regards,
    Luis

  • Third Party Performance Monitoring Tools

Are there any Third Party tools that can map the user transactions to the CPU utilization on the database server?
What we are looking for is the ability to map the CPU time on the DB server to the transactions on the application servers. For example transaction X  executed by user Y is utilizing Z CPU time on the database server.

  • RAC (10.2) Private interconnect monitoring tools.

Hello, I'm trying to find any monitoring tool that can monitor the Interconnect for my enterprise RAC environment, I suspect that we have some issue going on there but it would be great if i am able to get the historical data over a period of time.
I have tested Quest central for RAC (Spotlight) but it is way too costly. I have also enabled OS watcher but i am not very sure how to interpret the OSW private network output.
Any input would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sameer Zai.

    Hi Aman,
You are correct, node1 used for shared storage Disk1- make five raw partitions.
Okay, please tell me if I use another node and use as shared storage then how to connect these raw disk to RAC nodes. Please give the procedure. This shared storage node only PC; not NAS or other expensive storage.
    Hi there,
Well, if you are using only two physical machines, chances to get the things done are small actually. The only option that I think you have is to configure NFS(which I believed I had suggested already) . Other than this, you need to find one more machine, may be of less computing power but should have sufficient storage and use the Openfiler software to use its storage as a shared storage.

  • Exadata Architecture & I/O monitor tool - ExadataViewer

    Hi Experts,
During the work, I got some knowledge and experiences about Exadata. And I found that we really need a tool to monitor Exadata performance and workflow, such as smart scan offload processing statistics and I/O dataflow path in Exadata. So, I developed ExadataViewer in my free time after work.
ExadataViewer is a Exadata performance monitoring tool. ExadataViewer can help you to understand Exadata architecture and observe smart scan offload statistics and physical I/O dataflow in a graphical view.
I hope this little tool useful to you. You can download it from http://www.exadataviewer.com
    Screen Snapshot:

    Demo Movie:

    Download ExadataViewer:
    http://www.exadataviewer.com/index.php/category/download/

Thank you for your time and efforts Qing, but we (Oracle) already provide a very detailed reporting tool in the form of Enterprise Manger 12c. It can be tuned and refined to provide a basically limitless range of statistics, hopefully you'll be able to download it and use it.

  • Forwarding alerts to a 3rd party monitoring tool

I'd like to be able to forward alerts recieved by the Enterprise Controller to our Unicenter NSM server. I have no desire to use Ops Center's incident assignment capabilities.
Has anyone managed to forward alerts from Ops Center to a 3rd party monitoring tool ?

Since posting my question, I have found this possible solution...
    http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/NeuronIntegration/index.php
Halcyon appear to be an Oracle partner who have developed a product which integrates OC with popular 3rd party tools.
I see also that a user by the name of 'halcyon' sometimes posts in this forum, so I'm guessing that's them also.
Obviously this is a commercial solution and won't come for free, but I have struggled to figure out how this can be achieved independently. As you say, there are lots of questions and documentation is sparse. I'd prefer not to make a career out of it. ;)
The integration of OC with our Unicenter NSM tool with be my highest priority for when I get back from Xmas vacation in mid January. I will post up any useful information I discover.

  • OEM vs other monitoring tools (Solarwinds)

Can someone tell me the advantages of using OEM 12c as a monitoring tool over the Solarwinds product for Solaris systems?  I know OEM will also give management capabilities for databases, but strictly from a monitoring perspective will OEM catch things (hardware or software) that Solarwinds will not?

Enterprise Manager 12c has numerous plugins and features that are not offered by the Solarwinds products.  EM12c is engineered to work with all of Oracle's products and works seamlessly to provide value where misc. products that cover one or two areas must have each data brought together in a third tool in attempts to solve issues and provide a full picture of the IT infrastructure.  I would contact your Oracle Sales rep to get a the best comparison to ensure you make the decision that will provide the most value for your company.
    Thank you,

  • Coherence monitoring tools

    Hi
My project is currently in the process of evaulating monitoring tools for Coherence (v3.3+) and are currently looking at RtView (SL) and Clearstone Live (Evident). We would like to know if Oracle already has (or are planning to have) a monitoring tool for Coherence?
    Regards
    Jonas

Oracle Enterprise Manager (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oem/ent_mgr/sys_mgmt.html) is developing a management pack for coherence. You will need to check with the Enterprise Manager Team for the release date (late Q4 or Q1 2009).
Another monitoring option is the Coherence Reporter in version 3.4 (http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH34UG/JMX+Reporter).

    edit:
on enterprise manager: database -> choose oyur databse -> availability -> data guard (menu) -> Setup and manage -> ask you to use data guard broker (or not if you database is registered into data guard broker)
