Enterprise Portal Administration

Hi All
What is Portal administration? Think so related to system administration, content administration,user administration,HR administration form frontend Enterprise portal. What are the backend requirment? Are we required any administrative tool for performing Portal Administrator Role? I am new to this and not know much more about portal administration. I want practical assistance for this.

Portal Administration, consists of system administration, content administration,user administration only.
For Portal Administration, Backend is not mandatory, but since the employee data flows from R3, it goes as a Portal critical component.
You don't need any Tools for Portal Administration, you need to have the required authorizations, viz system administration, content administration and user administration that you'll get in User Administration.

What exactly i can call Enterprise Portal in usefull point of view

I am good in Enterprise Portal administration and Development.I got strange doubt here.What exactly i can call SAP Portal in Netweaver platform.Can i call it as Application integrater.I discussed with some of them they are telling its not at all an application integration tool.Then what exactly i can tell enterprise Portal in Netweaver platform.AS for knowledge i think XI is Process integrator and EP is Application integrater.Needs others opinion.

Hi all..can anybody tell me how can i download the BI ADMINISTRATION 1.0 Bussiness Pkg in Enterprise Portal 6.0..I hav searched but i am not getting how to download it from service.sap site...
Plz tell BI Adminstration Bussiness Pkg prerequisite i.e..which BW version it supports.
Basically we are having BW 3.5 and EP 6.0..Just want to confirm can i download this Pkg in our Netweaver Environment.

All corrective software packages, for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and SAP Business Suite 2005 and beyond that are delivered after April 2nd, 2007 will ONLY be available via SAP Solution Manager's Maintenance Optimizer. Find more details here.
Well it does this BP supports NETWEVER 7.0 and above only?

Usage of BI Administrator within SAP Enterprise Portal

Hi!
I would like to integrate BI Administrator into SAP Portal.
All the necessary steps has been succesfully executed
(Activation of technical content in SAP BI, Deployment of Business Package BI Administration 1.0).
The problem I have:
When I start one of the functions of SAP BI Administrator I get the Portal runtime error:
Portal runtime error.
An exception occurred while processing your request. Send the exception ID to your portal administrator.
Exception ID: 10:42_19/01/09_0073_21754250
Refer to the log file for details about this exception.
Can some one help me to solve this error?

How to bind an IIS to the enterprise portal installed on a linux machine

Dear all,
I am very new to the topic of Enterprise Portal.
Our intention is, to develop .NET IViews and deploy them in the Enterprise Portal.
The Enterprise Portal Server is set up on a linux machine.
The Guy who did install the Portal Server, has no idea how to "integrate" the Microsoft IIS to the Portal.
After deploying my .net Component, i tried to view this component in the portal (by right clicking the mouse on the Component in in the .NET Solutions Explorer).
This gives me the following error:
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occured while processing a request for:
iView:N/A
Component Name: N/A
Could not find portal application com.sap.portal.dotnet.framework.
Exception id: 02:06.......
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
I think that this has something in common with integrating the IIS on the Linux Machine, and maybe additionaly installing the pdk.net on the IIS webserver machine which should be used.

Seems to me like you are trying to use the PDK for .NET. If so - Please read the overview section in the documentation to get a general idea of how it works (for example - IIS is not used at all!).

there go to "Getting Started" and mostly "Overview".
Anyway, It seems like the problem is that you didn't deploy the 2 required SDA's to the portal. You should also take a look at the "installation and configuration" guide. please check if the options defined in the KRB5LoginModule are correct.
First of all check for the option prinicpal. Did you provide this option and also provided the correct value?
This error often occurs if you provided a wrong value for option prinicpal

Unable to see Dashboard over the internet Using Enterprise Portal

I have one issue here which is bit technical,
I have made an Xcelsius Dashboard (Connection Type: Excel XML Maps (BW Queries)) and uploaded SWF file on to KM Repository in Portal. I have created Document iview and a role to published the dashboard on Enterprise Portal.
Now when i am trying to access that Dashboard from Portal within local network it works fine but when i try opening the same Dashboard over the internet from home it gives an error.
ERROR DETAILS:
To access external data, add a cross-domain policy file to the external data web server.

Creating users in enterprise portals with CUA as userbase

Hi All,
we are using CUA system for maintaining the users and we want this users to be used in enterprise portals. So while installing WebAs itself, we specified the connection details to this CUA system. then we installed portal and we were able to view the users of CUA in portal.
now i am creating a user from portal, create user option in UserManagement. but i just get an error like, could not create a user.
i checked out in system administration->umconfiguration-> sap system. all the details that we specified during the webas installation appear there by default.
so could you please let me know what the problem could be

Abap role in the enterprise portal?

Can anyone give me a clear picture abt the enterprise protal and abap role in that?

Hi when there is an integration between EP and R/3 and you click on the User Adinistration of the Portal you will find two types od users available there.
1. UME Database - this is nothing but the Portal Roles here you will find all the roles related to portal administration, such as eu_role, eu_corerole etc etc .
We assign portal developer roles to the user form here like Content Admin, System Admin, etc etc.
2. ABAP Role : whatever role are defined for the user in the backened will appear here ...
for instance if you implement ESS, hence the user must be able to apply for Travel so a backend r/3 travel role will be attached in SU01 for that user. This is visible on portal.

Hello gurus!!
I'm configuring SRM 7.0 with EP.
I'm configuring the organizational structure, and steps guide (pdf and Solution Manager ) are:
1. Go to transaction SU01 and create an ABAP User. (SRMADMIN)
2. Assign this user the administrator role /SAPSRM/ADMINISTRATOR
3. As the administrator, creater the organizational plan
4. Create the remaining organizational unit
5. Using the Enterprise Portal application, Business Parter:Employee, create the user master records for the departmental managers.
How I must create the user in Enterprise Portal? What user I have to use to log on in the Enterprise Portal application? Has the user to be integrated in the organzational structure??

For groups, managedBy is an administrative convenience to designate “group admins”. Whatever principal listed in
managedBy gets permission to update a group’s membership (the actual security is updated on the group’s AD object to allow this).
In Win2008 and later managedBy also became the way you delegated local administration on an RODC, allowing branch admins to install patches, manage shares, etc. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755310(WS.10).aspx).
On the RODC, this is updating the RepairAdmin registry value within RODCRoles.
So the difference between them should be only the way they do the same thing.

I had heard about Log watch tool.. How to use this tool?

Hi,
Log Watch is basically a tool which helps you to analyze the trace or logs generated for running an application. You can use the tool by running the application com.sap.tcepcommon~logWatch , but you must have the administrator role assigned to your user id. There are also three tool which helps while troubleshooting any problem in Portal. They are Navigation Reporter, Navigation Debugger, Diagnostic Tool.
