Even though you dont have any exposure to SAP,Well no probelm still you can work very well on portal!!
Well your learning will start from the getting familar to basics, such as creation of an iview,Connector systems etc.If you are going to work as portal developer then you should aslo have basic knowledge of NWDS (Netweaver Developer Studio).Portal Administration is also another aspect for learning. BW Workbook as an iView in the Enterprise Portal

I keeping getting a dialog box asking to select the appropriate program to open the workbook. When I select .xls it opens, and it shows the parameters I entered and not the workbook. The customer is on NW04 Stack 11.
I followed ever step on help.sap.com site as listed below.
BW workbooks are MS Excel workbooks with one or more embedded BW queries. You are able to display these workbooks in the Enterprise Portal as iViews.
Features
Workbooks are displayed in a separate MS Excel window. Opening workbooks within the Web browser window is not possible for technical reasons.
BW workbooks require the BEx Analyzer, which requires a local installation of the SAP GUI for Windows with the BW front end.
SAP recommends that you use BEx Web applications in the Enterprise Portal that run completely in the Web browser.
You can use the function Export as Excel 2000 File from the BW Web application context menu as an alternative to using a local installation of the BW front end if you require Excel functions. See Context Menu Functions and Exporting as a CSV File/Excel 2000 File.
An iView with a workbook can be generated using the Portal Content Studio or Role Upload. For more information, see Generating Content from SAP BW for the Enterprise Portal.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
·The System property contains the alias on the BW system (see Creating BW Systems in the Portal).
·The transaction code for every workbook is RRMXP.
·The value WBID= is in the ApplicationParameter property.
You can determine the workbook ID with the BEx Analyzer:
a. Open the desired workbook.
b. In the BEx toolbar, choose ® OLAP Functions for Active Cells ® Properties. The Information tab page contains the Workbook ID (Server).
Note that with BW workbooks as an iView, the AutoStart property contains the value True (process first screen) and the GuiType property contains the value WinGui.

There are two different ways to use the SAP Application Integrator transaction iView. In both cases please use a URL like 'irj://com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction' followed by your custom parameters like '?System=DEV&TCode=SE38&GuiType=WinGui &WinGui_Type=Shortcut&OkCode=SHOP'.
The parameters are:
System [mandatory]
TCode [mandatory]
GuiType (=WinGui / WebGui / JavaGui) [mandatory]
WinGui_Type (=Shortcut ..if you want to launch the GUI in a new window)
OkCode (The OkCode that you would like to be executed after the transcation is called by SAP GUI.)
ApplicationParameter (Pass these values to your screen fields which needs to be be separated by
AutoStart (true / false)
UseSPO1 (true / false)

In the intresting document I read that for the deployement the version number mentionned in the MANIFEST.MF is very important in a clustered evironment.
SAPnote 727180 - Version of PAR File in Manifest File
denies this.

Branding bar in the Enterprise Portal

Hi,
All the requirements is to build of the header bar (branding bar) in the Enterprise Portal.
Currently when I click in left nav , the SAP EP Links open up in new window.
These pages do not have any Company Branding header on the top.
I am required to put Branding header on these EP Pages and call them on to MOSS UI.
Plz refer the solution to me.

Please clarify the below points so that we can understand exactly what issue you are facing .
1. " requirements is to build of the header bar (branding bar)" --- Are you referring to the portal MastHead ?
(typically mastheadincludes -- welcome "name of user who logs in " , Branding Image - horizontal image bar, help , log off n personalize button"
2. "when I click in left nav , the SAP EP Links open up in new window. "
In the left Navigation what are you clicking , what exactly is opening in a new window .

Application is not working in Enterprise Portal (Access Denied)

Hi,
I have created one application..........This application contains one DropDownByKey element whenever i run this application all the material numbers are automatically populated from R/3....... once i selected material number all the fields related to that material number are displyed in my view..... It is working fine in my NWDS(WebDynpro).....
I have integrated this application into Enterprise Portal their i am not getting any data into DropDownList box from R/3.... when i run the application i am getting "ACESS DENIED" error ............
But i have another applicaton(FlightList) which is already integrated into Enterprise Portal..... its working fine......This is also accessing data from R/3.... but its working......
The material application is not working........
Please Help Me.....

Hi,
How have you defined the property "WAS host" for the portal system that you have created for the back-end?
You might get this error if the way you have defined this WAS host property and the way you are calling the portal are different. For example, if your WAS host property is "<hostname>:<portnumber>" and you are calling your portal as "localhost:<portnumber>", then you will get this error.
Also are you connecting to your portal using the fully qualified domain name? Don't call the portal simply as
http://<host>:<port>/irj but call it as http://<host>.<domain>:<port>/irj.

SSO for SAP and Non-SAP applications without Enterprise Portal

Dear all,
Is it possible to implement SSO for both SAP and non-SAP applications without involvement of EP at all?
I have gone through this link.

But I still i am not able to get the precise answer on how to enable SSO for both SAP and non-SAP applications without EP.
We have decided not to implement EP in first phase of SAP implementation. But we need to enable SSO for other SAP and Non-SAP applications.
A detailed description on how to deal this kind of scenarios will be helpful.

A client of our's uses SAP Enterprise Portal, and is using the SAP SSO, which is implemented with tickets, and requires the use of SAPSECULIB. My company provides an application for this client, and our application in hosted in our data center for the client, as a Software as a Service application, obviously across the internet. Our client, which owns a SAP license, has asked that we support the SAP SSO as a non-SAP SSO application. The client user's SSO ticket will be created from SAP EP, and then passed across the internet to our application, and we are to use that SSO ticket as an authentication ticket to our application. I beleive I know how to do this work technically, having reviewed the SAP document named: "Dynamic Library for Verifying SSO Tickets in Third-Party Software" Specification Version 2.00 December 2005.
My question is, does my company have the right to use the SAPSECULIB? Where is the official download and license download, that indicates we can download this library, and use it to support a SAP customer? We do not own a SAP license. Thank you for your help. I have searched many places in SAP support.

Applcation not working in Enterprise Portal...

I have done with static dropdownlist.....means i have created one string simple type in dictonary...i have enterd values in enumaration and i am getting these values in dropdownlist when i am runnig this application in NWDS.... but in EP its not working
i am not taking any values from R/3 there is no back end connection for this.......
please help me....

SAP BW Bex 7.3 Queries not working with Enterprise Portal (EP) 7.3 ABAP Stack
Dear Portal Gurus,
we want to integrate SAP BW Bex Queries 7.3 into an Enterprise Portal 7.3 EP ABAP Stack only installation.
1) We have Done SSO between EP And BI System
2) System Object is Created
3) When we trying to create Iview of BEX 7.3 report, its executing that report on BI server, we don't have java stack on BI System
4) We have updated the required table in Bi system for executing the report on EP
5) RFC is OK, System Object Test is OK, Report is working independently from Business Explorer, but not working from EP
There no irj services available on BI system, as it is only ABAP stack.
Can anybody help us in achieving our requirement

Creating users in enterprise portals with CUA as userbase

Hi All,
we are using CUA system for maintaining the users and we want this users to be used in enterprise portals. So while installing WebAs itself, we specified the connection details to this CUA system. then we installed portal and we were able to view the users of CUA in portal.
now i am creating a user from portal, create user option in UserManagement. but i just get an error like, could not create a user.
i checked out in system administration->umconfiguration-> sap system. all the details that we specified during the webas installation appear there by default.
so could you please let me know what the problem could be

Windows Applications in the Enterprise Portal

Hi all,
we have EP 6.0 SP10 based on NW04 installed.
Is there any possibility to integrate Windows Apllications
(Windows 'exe' files) in the Enterprise Portal.

With LaunchInIE you use JavaScript to launch the actual applications. What we do is write a Java iView that contains links (we use icons) to programs installed locally on each machine. When the user clicks a link (icon) we run the JavaScript that opens the locally installed 'exe' file.
If you have a look at the WhirlyWiryWeb link posted earlier you can see how to use LaunchInIE.
The downside to this is that the .dll has to be installed on each machine and the registry (for each machine) has to be maintained.
You can just write a java iView that has links to locally installed exe's (file://C:/myfolder/myexe.exe) if you like but that will result in a security warning each time. LaunchInIE stops the security warning.
