Enterprise search configuration in SharePoint 2013

hi friends
i have SharePoint publishing site it is configured with enterprise search center.
each page in pages library have different permissions.
in my scenario there are two users and four pages
user1 has permission to page-1 and page-2,
User2 has permission to page-3 and page-4,
all 4 pages have same page content. e.g. "hello world"
if user1 search for "hello world" he can see only page-1 and page-2 in search result in enterprise search center.
but i need to show all the four pages only in search results which means user1 can able to see page-3 and page-4 also.
how can i do this please help me

Hi,
Per my knowledge, if the user does not have permission to the items, he cannnot get the items in the search result pgae.
I recommend to share the library or the site to the user with view permission.
Best Regards,
Linda Li

    Hi,
In the “Property Mappings” of the Content Search Web Part, we can see that the Picture field will only display the value retrieved from “PublishingImage;PictureURL;PictureThumbnailURL”,
because there is corresponding column in OOTB Document Library holds the valid value of a thumbnail image for a document, that’s why documents from Document Library display no thumbnail image in a Content Search Web part.
If you want to display thumbnail images for documents of Document Library, you can add a custom Picture column to hold the thumbnail image of a document, set the “Property
Mappings” to display this custom Picture column.
By doing this, every time uploading a document to this library, setting a thumbnail image(provided by common users, not generated by SharePoint automatically) for
that custom Picture column, in the Content Search Web Part, the thumbnail image will display.
    Thanks

  • Configure a sharepoint 2013 site for external and internal access

I need to configure a local install of sharepoint 2013 so that users can access it internally and externally using windows/AD authentication. The internal and external addresses are different.
I have bound an external ip to the domain for external access.
I have created Alternate Access mapping, and bound the host header but I get a file not found message for external access.
Have I missed something here? why the error and how can it be fixed. Step by step process would be appreciated.

    Hi Luis,
According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when accessing the site externally.
The most common cause for this is that the IIS host header is configured incorrectly. The 404 will appear because we are hitting a different IIS web site and not the one we are intended to.
Here is a similar issue for you to take a look:

  • Folder name showing in the search result in SharePoint 2013

    Hello,
In SharePoint 2013, when user search for a document within a folder, Search content along with Folder name and icon getting displayed in the search result. I am trying to hide Folder name from search result. Please suggest some way to achieve this.
    Thank you

    Hi,
As I understand, you want to search without folders in SharePoint 2013.
You can do the steps to achieve your request:
In search center in results page, click Edit page.
In search results web part, click dropdown in the upper right corner -> click Edit Web Part.
Click Change query -> in Property filter field -> choose contenttype, not contains, folder  -> click Add property filter -> ok.

  • People Search requirement in Sharepoint 2013

    Hello Everyone
In user profile services, I have created connection, which synchronize the Active directory data to sharepoint.
Then I have done full synchronization. I created enterprise search center site, when i type user name in search, nothing comes up.
Does people search requires to create mysite for all users?
    Thanks

    Hi Swetha,
    Yes, you are right.
On people search results page, when we click the user picture, it will redirect to its personal page. So people search does
not require my site, but when you click the user, it’s trying to access the my site.

  • Total Rows incorrect for REST Search webservice in Sharepoint 2013

    Hi,
I am using Sharepoint 2013 REST webservice in Javascript to fetch search results:
    <a href="https:///_api/search/query?querytext='<text>'&startrow=0">https://<server>/_api/search/query?querytext='<text>'&startrow=0
I am passing the startrow value fetching records in set of 10.
The value that I recieve for TotalRows in the response is different when I query with startrow=0 ans startrow=10 etc.
Please suggest a possible solution to this issue as I need to display total rows as count of search results.
    Regards,
    Molshree

The total rows tend to be estimated in small result sets like that. This is behavior that you rally can't do anything about.

  • Creating customized search results in SharePoint 2013

I am trying to customize search result through display template. my template has two block for Rendering. how to customize search result such as following image:

    Hi Dastani,
There are two ways to display your results.
In Search result web part by creating the display type.
    Content Search web part
As per your above image, I guess you are talking about the content search web part. So for that you need to modify the both control template as well as item display
template. I don't think you will get the desire result as per your block , During the render process the item template call for each item (indexed item in the
    search corpus).

  • Finding relevant search results in sharepoint 2013

I had a 5 word documents Test1, Test 2, test 3, test 4 and test 5 and i had variant, score, geoname and complex variant like the below.
    Test 1
    Variant : 501
    Score : 500
    GoeName : 502
    Test 2
    Variant : 500
    Score : 502
    GoeName : 501
    Test 3
    Variant : 502
    Score : 501
    GoeName : 500
    Test 4
    Variant : 602
    Score : 601 GoeName : 600
    Complex variant : 500
    Test 5
    Variant : 500
    Score : 700
    GoeName : 701
    Complex variant : 600
I uploaded all those files in document library and crawled the documents. when i search for variant : 500 using search box instead of getting Test 2 word document which matches exactly what i typed in the search box it is pulling test 4 document. which has
Complex variant : 500 in it.
How can i get relevant search results??
If i search for variant: 500 i should get Test 2 and Test 5 document. If i search for Complex variant : 500 then i should get Test 4 document.

If you think about it as a string matching process you'd expect to get documents all the documents back as they all contain 'Variant' and '500'. The search engine, from start to finish, would need to understand and honour contextual searching to automatically
    pick up on that.
If you want to return those results perfectly then you need to surface them as metadata on the items, add those terms as mapped properties which you can search and refine on then build a custom search page for it.

  • SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Search and Document ID service

    Hello,
as I understand search scopes are now deprected in SharePoint 2013 and I cannot add any new custom search scopes.
My problem is that on the document ID settings page, where I can choose the search scope, I can only see the deafult "All Sites" search scope.
Is there any way to add custom search scopes in SharePoint 2013, or make my default document ID provider use result sources insted of search scopes?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you.
    Dimitar

    Hi Dimitar,
Document IDs help you manage your documents by providing an easy way to track items regardless of their location. Even if a document is moved to another site, renamed or copied, it retains its Document ID. You can use the Document ID to easily locate it.
Document ID’s are automatically assigned to uploaded documents and this ID will follow the item throughout its whole life cycle. Consequently, Document ID should be unique among all sites, so that it won’t duplicated when documents moved among sites.
Document ID Lookup Search Scope allows a specific search scope to be used to look up documents using their IDs. The default search scope is “All sites” as you see, it means if you search certain document id, you are searching it among all
sites. If you would like to custom search scope for it, I’d recommend you create custom result source for it in Search Service Application. Although it is workaround, it might be more flexible and easier to achieve.
Here are some good articles for build search result sources in SharePoint 2013 for your convenience:
