Enterprise? Standard?

What's the difference between Enterprise Edition and Standard
Editon?
I've thought Enterprise Ed. would be bigger than Standard, but
it wasn't.
I wanna know what's the difference between Enterprise Edition
and Standard Edition
null

Mainly scalability and reliability.
Enterprise Edition (in general, not specificly Linux) comes with
more reliability options such as replication and redundancy,
allowing for fault tolerance and/or faster recovery in a
disaster, as well as performance enhancements such as parallel
servers/querying, not to mention the added priviledge of paying
five times as much per user license than workgroup edition. So,
basically, with regular 8i, you lose certain backup and recovery
(point-in-time tablespace recovery, incremental backups, etc)
options, redundancy (standby database, replication, etc) options,
performance (parallel servers/queries, other types of indeces,
etc), security (row-level security, Advanced Security option,
etc) options, plus other misc things.
Certain "pay extra" options are also only be available for EE,
such as the tuning pack, spatial data, advanced security, etc.

  • Partition option for Oracle 9i Enterprise/Standard Edition

    Hello All,
    could you help me please.
I'd like to download Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for HP 9000 Series HP-UX for demonstration purposes.
Tell me please does it mean that this Enterprise Edition includs Partition option?

Installing Oracle is not easy for the beginner. Please consider asking Oracle Sales to assist you, as they have technical consultants who can do that for free.
All Oracle software that can be downloaded if available from http://otn.oracle.com ... look for the Downloads link at the top.
Partitioning Option is included in the Enterprise Edition software, but using Partitioning Option requires purchasing a separate license for the option. It can NOT be licensed for use with the Standard Edition.

  • Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/

    Hi,
Ive just been trying to download your Oracle9i Database Release Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP for my home computer, but it wont even download properly. The Disk 1 file, "92010NT_Disk1.zip", intializes, and downloads in less than a second, saying all 67.7kb is complete, taking into consideration the file is over 600mb big. When i open the *.zip file, its absolutely empty. I tried the links for Disk 2 and Disk 3, and they are working perfectley.
    Whats going on?
Is there a bug on my side, or OTN's?
    Will this be fixed soon?
Or should i download an older version?
A little feed back would be grately appreciated, due to the fact i cant find the latest version of Oracle anywhere else on the World Wide Web.
    Thank you for your time.
    - File: 92010NT_Disk1.zip
    - Date/Time: 03/09/02 11:30PM
    - Internet Browser: IE 6.0.2600.0000
    - O/S: Windows 2000
PS: Your "Preview" Button didnt seem to work for me either.

    Hi Peter,
I downloaded the same zip files as you did for my home pc. The first zip file was not able to be unzipped by winzip. So I had to download the fisrt zip file again from OTN and the second time it was fine. I got all three zip files extracted and ran the setup.exe. Everything was fine till this point.
My problem is that Oracle 9i release 2 personal edition is not for XP home edition. I couldn't get the database correctly configured.

  • Backup/restore across Enterprise & Standard Editions?

With the exception of incremental backups, are there any impediments to backing up from an Enterprise & restoring in a Standard edition??

The restores via RMAN from EE to Standard should just work. Limitiation of the RMAN Standard edition are:
    Parallelization
    Duplexed backups
    TSPITR via RMAN
    Incrementals
The other issue that you have to be concerned with is the features and functions that you have implemented in the EE version vs. the Standard version of the database.
    Thanks, Tammy

  • Oracle 8i - Enterprise, Standard or Personal

We purchased the Internet Servers for Windows Technology Track for Windows 2000/NT, so that we could install and use an Oracle database for testing purposes only, given that some customers using our software may migrate to Oracle at some stage in the not too distant future.
So far I've been installing the Standard Edition, but is this the best version for my purposes? Basically the database is simply a repository to store security certificate records, so there's not a lot of interaction for users etc.

The differences between the editions are described in this OTN white paper
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/oracle10g/pdf/twp_general_10gdb_product_family_0605.pdf
For the described purpose, I would recommend to install the Personal Edition

    Hi,
I hv problem during installation 10g on windows 7, i hv installed it with win xp sp2 mode, but it shows warning msg regarding permission javaw.exe, i hv given all those permission, the installation proceed, but at the end it gives error msg something like 'javaw.exe not found', & on the completion it doesn't go for password manager, gives another error msg 'TNS permission denied', then too......... it show installation completed successfully, bt doesn't get login

Installs work better on supported operating systems on which they have been certified and tested.
Change your operating system or move to 11gR2.

    Hi,
I've downloaded disk1&disk2. Disk1 successfully unzips but disk2 fails with the message
I/O error unable to read from zip file
This only happens for the large files in the zip.
    Is this familiar?

looks like the zip file is corrput ... so down it again and this time make sure you have ur browser/web settings to accept al cookies ... this way it works better thru windows downer and any other down-manager too ... just a suggestion tough.

  • Oracle 9i Enterprise to Oracle 11g Standard

    Hello,
Hey guys, I just want to ask. Right now we're currently planning to upgrade our oracle database from 9i Enterprise to 11g Standard. I just want to know what the critical differences between the two are. This is so we can asses how much impact it will have on our current applications using the current 9i database. The original plan was to upgrade it to 11g Enterprise but later on they were suggesting that why not 11g standard instead? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Floyd

    Hi Floyd,
Enterprise edition has some extra feature like partitioning , advanced security.
Also The only way to properly convert from an Enterprise Edition back to a Standard Edition is through an Export/Import operation. This way you will get rid of all Enterprise Edition specific Data Dictionary objects, as the SYS schema objects are not exported. The Standard Edition EXP utility is
preferred to be used to export the data.

  • Recovery differences between standard edition and enterprise edition/datalo

Disaster recovery in Enterprise = automated
Disaster recovery in Standard = manual (or use dbVisit product)
Recovery time in Enterprise = effectively no time at all.
Recovery time in Standard = how well, fast and accurately do you type ... especailly archivelog file names from your backup
Data loss in Enterprise = can be configured to 0
Data loss in Standard = depends on your skill and on what broke
Support cost saving ... disaster recovery is part of the enterprise license and does not officially exist as part of standard. Therefore (savings = (x - null))
Do you include the DBA and end user time in the true support calculation, or are you simply stopping the calculation at 'what we pay Oracle'? The trade off is in "is it supported by Oracle or is it supported by you"
Predicted next part of discussion starts with "yes sure, but ..."

  • Oracle 9i Enterprise - Oracle 9i Standard

그러므로 exp/imp에서
    transport tablespace

    ====================================================
    PURPOSE
    Introduction:
    <Note:112591.1>
Enterprise
Standard Edition
업그레이드 하기 CATALOG.SQL과 CATPROC.SQL (또는 EE Version 소프트웨어의
    Actions:
Export/Import 를 이용하는 것이다.
Enterprise

  • Enterprise verses Standard Edition

    Hi All,
What is the difference between Oracle 10gAS Enterprise & Standard Editions?
    Thanks.

From the SQL Server installation guide:

  • SharePoint 2013 Enterprise with SP1 on Windows Server 2012??????? What am I missing?

    Hi there,
As per MS - SharePoint 2013 Enterprise SP1 is compatible with Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have Windows Server 2012 R2 installed - now it does not let me install SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (Standard without SP1).
AND SP1 can ONLY be installed AFTER SharePoint 2013 Enterprise is installed.
So how to install SharePoint 2013 Enterprise with SP1 on Windows Server 2012?
    Thanks.

You can download it at the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center:
    https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/default.aspx
or at the Microsoft Developer Network:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/
Please note that if you do not have access to either, you will have to work with the vendor who sold you SharePoint 2013 to get you a new ISO with SP1, or you will have to find a way to make a slipstreamed version on your own.  I'm really hoping you
have VLSC or MSDN access, as this will make things much easier for you.
