Hey guys, for an enterprise wide deployment, what will you suggest and why among - Red Hat Linux, Suse Linux and Ubuntu Linux, also, do you think, we can negotiate the support pricing down?

Enterprise wide wireless solution

Hi All
I got task to design enterprise wide wireless solution for my client. There are 50+ offices from 20-600 users. Offices are mostly connected as a hub and spoke by MPLS or VPN IPsec. Most of the office will have one or more WLC but some will have AP (H-REAP) only. User should be able to roam everywhere. Certificate must be deployed (EAP-TLS) on client and server. I’m not sure how to deploy Radius. Just primary and secondary centrally located or somehow distributed. Any suggestion re this whole scenario will be appreciated

I agree with Stephen/Steve's post. Get someone to do the design, pre-installation survey, implementation and post-implementation survey. There are alot of things that can go wrong and there are misconceptions that need to be ironed out. For example:

Ok. There's no biggie with the statement above. But it will not "gell" with the statement below:
User should be able to roam everywhere.
Alot of executives believe (incorrectly) that WLAN roaming and mobile/cell phone roaming are synonymous. This perception needs to be taken with caution.
You have 50+ offices. Ok, I get this. Now unless you are going to tell me that the "open space" between each offices will be covered with your WLAN then there's no such thing as "roaming". You will get the feeling of "roaming" when you are, for example, in an office with wall-to-wall wireless and you walk from one end of the building to the opposite end and you are still continuously on the wireless. This is possible because your client was able to continuously connect to the same WLAN and the WLAN handed your client from one WAP to another.

Enterprise Wide scanning solutions

I am looking for an enterprise wide scannng software to deploy with our electronic medical record (EMR). The EMR has a doument management function so the scanning software needs to only rdo the following:
Support batch processing of multiple documents.
Automatically saves PDF files to a designated folder with a unique name.
Converts paper documents to acceptable file formats (.PDF, .TIFF, etc.).
It is for approximately 400 physicians in 100 practices.
I would appreciate any recommendations.

Reports: How to Create an Enterprise Wide "CPU/Memory" Report

All,
Going over the reports I notice that there does not seem to be a report template that I can use to collect enterprise wide CPU/MEM statistics.
The enterprise consists of approx 2000 Solaris images both physical and virtual. Running "Analytics" on each Global Zone, to collect the data every week or so, is not going to cut it with the customer.
There has to be a way to run a complete report for the entire Solaris enterprise.
The question is how and where do I find a template for something like that???

Hi Tom,
I think what you want can be done with our Neuron Performance Manager: which works with Ops Center. And if you only need to report on a couple metrics for each system there's no cost.
Ops Center does have report aggregation at some levels (i.e. Top-5-type graphs for Asset folders), but if you want reports to be generated and sent out each week then Neuron makes it easy.

Visual Cafe Enterprise ftp deployment?

Hi,
I am using VC EE to write Enterprise Java Beans which I'm deploying
directly to a Sun E450 running Solaris 7. These Jar files will then be
used by WebLogic Server. I have configured my project
options/deployment tab so that it has the IP address of the Sun machine,
my user account and password. I've also selected FTP as the desired
transport. It mostly works in as much as it copies the file across
but then it just sits there with the progress bar mostly complete. Is
this a known problem? It there are workaround if so?

PS I'm using NT 4.0 SP6 on my PC.

OK fixed. We downloaded WU ftpd, installed it on another port on the Sun and
it all works fine.

Enterprise Flash Deployment Gone Wrong

I recently deployed Flash Player 13 from ConfigMgr. First I ran the Flash uninstaller then the msi to install Flash. Flash is now broken on all machines. For troubleshooting I've gone to broken machines and manually performed the steps that ConfigMgr did. First I verify that Flash is indeed listed in Add/Remove programs. Next I run the uninstaller followed by the installer. The installer fails. The message I get indicates that the installer is looking for the msi for Flash 10 which is not available. (yes 10 really). I get an error however looking in Add Remove Programs Flash 13 is listed which matches up to what I saw with the ConfigMgr deployment. All the clients reported success to ConfigMgr even though the install isn't working correctly. I then try the msi for Flash 14 and it does the same thing. I can go to adobe.com and run the install from there and it works great. What can I do to resolve this on a mass scale?

I was able to determine that deploying the Flash .exe file works. It's just the msi installer that does not work. Any help from anyone at Adobe would be greatly appreciated. I can't even find a contact number for enterprise Flash player deployment support. Not even a pay per call number!

Enterprise App deployment...

OK, in Profile Manager, I received a message to re-enroll iPads once they are on iOS 5 to be able to deploy apps. Once the ipad is re-enrolled, I get a window to select apps to add. Is this only for enterprise apps, or will it work for App Store apps? (I would like to push out App Store apps.)
If it does work for App Store apps, how do I go about selecting those? (ie. where do they live on my HD?)

As far as I have been able to determine there is still no way to do a straight over the the air push of an app purchased in any of the app stores (volume education, etc.). I would like to be able to do this as well... if anyone has an answer I am sure there many that would like to hear it.

Adding link to the photo and Name in the outlook contact card -Enterprise wide

How can I make the name and photo in the outlook contact card link to my profile page? I read articles where it is mentoined that the URL is set in Registry, currently my organization does not have any link associated with photo and name in contact card.
I want to implement this across the organization , any deployment or changes that I need to do to implement this across?

So you want to redesign the contact card in Outlook? Are you using SharePoint? If signed into sharepoint via the social connect, there is a link to the mysharepoint page under View source. I don't think you can change the link or customize the card,
beyond what is listed here:

Does the MSQL database have a primary key, the CMP wizard determines the primary key based on the primary key setup on the database. The primary key which is selected can be detemined using the database browser Runtime->Database, this displays meta data information from the specified databases.

Having not received a call back yesterday as promised - again! - I phoned BT - again - today. Apparently we're getting a call from them on Wednesday. The seventh promise of that kind now. I told the BT chap I was sorry, but given our previous experiences, I couldn't trust what he said. He promised there would be a call. Just to make sure, I confirmed our contact details with him and, yes, you guessed it - they were incorrect! So we wouldn't have received the promised phone call. In the face of breathtaking incompetence, my partner and I are keeping our spirits up by betting on the next thing BT will screw up.

Lync Enterprise Voice Deployment - Can't get SIP trunks to work

So i'm doing a proof-of-concept for Lync 2013 Enterprise voice. I've just purchased two sip trunks with 3 DIDs. I've followed their directions but have had no luck making outgoing PSTN numbers. I always get the error message "Disconnected service unavailable".
I did some troubleshooting with their tech support, did some logging with Lync & gave them our SIP Logs.
Here is what they told me back:

Where can I set the outgoing port to 5060? In the topology builder I have already configured the listening port under "PSTN gateway" to be TCP 5060. I don't see anything in the topology builder relating to outgoing ports, only "listening ports".

Looks exactly the same as mine. (I also use a SIP trunk.)
I assume you can ping the SIP provider from your mediation server? (and telnet to TCP 5060) without any issue.

ESS Implement some functionality enterprise wide certain others for pilot

Hi ESS Gurus
I am new to ESS and just started looking at the functionality that needs to be provided.
One requirement is that some functionality like salary statement etc. is to be provided for every body in the eneterprise while functionality like leave application needs to be done only for piloy group.
Can any body help me how do I get this conrol ?

I get this error when trying to install any of the MSP from 11.0.7. My device is at 11.0.6. Has anyone seen this issue?

Yes I am trying to install Adobe reader patch AdbeRdrUpd11007.msp on a Windows 7 device. I cannot uninstall already installed version as I am testing the deployment for an enterprise wide deployment and uninstalling existing version is not acceptible.
The error I keep seeing is
Error 2762.Cannot write script record. Transaction not started.
However the Version is updated to 11.0.7 in Help->About

IE8 Support for Xcelsius 2008

Hi,
I am looking urgently for information if IE8 is supported by Xcelsius on any patch level. If so, which patch level. If not is this planned for XC2008?
Background is an enterprise wide deployment at Daimler. They are about to roll out BO company wide and missed this "little" bit. It has business impact.
