Starting Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control ...The OracleDBConsoleRA
JDEV service is starting.
The OracleDBConsoleRAJDEV service could not be started.
The service did not report an error.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534.
Hi,
This simply means that the Database's Instance is not up and running. Please remember that on windows, the O.S. service is just a thread wrapper and that
. If the Service is down => The instance is down
. If the Service is up => The instance can be up or down. No guarantee.
Check the service config via regedit, and check logs to see why it doesn't start automatically.
Regards,
Yoann.

What version of the agent? ... 10g is not a version number it is a marketing label
Did you check to see if the agent is compatible with your operating system?
My recommendation would be to get a real operating system: Either Oracle Linux or XP. -

The command completed successfullyI had a problem of accessing Oracle 10g database homepage. After a couple of days of research and discussions with coworker we found a solution.
Here is the solution:
1. Find out your default browser.
2. Configure your default web browser to connect to the Oracle Database XE Database Home Page as stated
here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25143/toc.htm#CIHHJEHF
If this does not help de-install Oracle XE and reinstall following the instruction. During re-installation find out your default browser and configure it as instructed.
I suspect when the default web browser changes the Oracle 10g XE Database Home Page stops working.
Good luck -

Oracle Connection object is not getting instantiated
We have a Web application developed in .net (code behind vb.net) using Visual Studio 2003 and Oracle Database 10G version 10.1.0.2. We have a test machine which we use to test our Web application with the same version of oracle. Our web application was working fine in that test machine until Oracle got corrupted in the that machine. After that I reinstalled Oracle 10G and when I tried to run the web application it threw an exception saying "Object Reference Not set to instance of an Object". When I went into that problem a bit deeper , I came to know that Oracle Connection Object was not getting instantiated (ie OracleConnection object=nothing). At the same time the web application is working fine in my machine. One of my friend suggested me that I have to register some of the Oracle DLL files using regsvr32 utility. But he is not sure which DLL to be registered. Also we do have a Windows Application developed in .net using the same VS2003 and oracle 10 G which is running fine in the same test machine.
Thanks for the reply. I was desperately waiting for that.
I found the following result when I run the gacutil utility on my machine.
The Global Assembly Cache contains the following assemblies:
Oracle.DataAccess,version=10.2.0.100, Culture=nuetral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342, Custom=null
The cache of ngen files contains the following entries:
Number of items = 1
But when I used the same utility on the test machine it resulted as follows
The Global Assembly Cache contains the following assemblies:
Oracle.DataAccess,version=10.1.0.200, Culture=nuetral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342, Custom=null
The cache of ngen files contains the following entries:
Number of items = 1
That is there was change in the version of ODP.net what I use in my machine and Test Machine. But I clearly remember that I have installed Data Access layer DLL's of the web project from my machine to the test machine and were running successfully befor eoracle got re installed on that test machine. -
OEM is not getting started after windows server name changed
Hello DBAs
Recently I installed Oracle database 10g on my a windows machine. It was working fine. Integrated OEM was also working fine.
But now I have changed the machine name. Now Oracle Database has come up after updating the listener.ora & tnsnames.ora files with new server name. But OEM page is not getting open now. I tried after updating the emd.properties and other related file on ORACLE_HOME\sysman folder with the new server name. But no luck.
In windows services one service named "OracleDBConsoleDbname" is not getting started, which could be the issue.
Can someone please guide me what can be done to fix this problem.
Thanks
-NaveenThis problem will happen when either changing the computer name or changing the domain name that the server belongs to.
First, verify that the new computer name contains DNS compatible characters - no spaces or underscore ( _ ) characters, for instance. Next, you will need to recreate the Enterprise Manager Database Control repository. Directions can be found on this page under the heading of "6.2.8.3 Using EMCA After Changing the Database Host Name or IP Address":
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e10818/srvpool.htm#CHDEGDIJ
The above directions should work as shown with Oracle 10g R2 - and possibly 10g R1 also.

Is the host for the database using DHCP? If so, is it possible the DHCP address has changed?
Have any Windows patches been applied? Security (permissions to run jobs, etc) sometimes get changed behind the scenes.
Steps I would start with: get host IP address details, then dump the listener.ora file being used and look in the logs of the listener. -
Db Console service not getting started
Hello,
I am trying to start DB console from services and also from the command prompt. Its not getting start from both.
The database is up and running. Even the Isqlplus service is running successfully. Any idea why the DB Console could not be getting started.

[email protected]Hi,
I have this same issue of not able to start my Oracle 10g DBConsole on my windows xp machine.
this is what happened. the dbconsole was starting up fine until we had to change the IP address of our systems.
from the moment we changed IP address of our systems, the dbconsole is not functioning at all.
i have even update the hosts file under window system32 folder. but still dbconsole is not starting.
initially i was getting error as ORACLE_SID not set. so i set the environment variable. and then when i try to start dbconsole at command prompt as
c:>emctl start dbconsole
i get error as
"OC4J Configuration issue. C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole
_DECK_AAORCL not found."
Can someone help me solve this.
Thanks,
Philip. -
OEM is not getting started after changing the Server name
In windows services one service named *"OracleDBConsoleDbname"* is not getting started, which could be the issue.
Can someone please guide me what can be done to fix this problem.
Thanks
-NaveenHi Naveen,
What you are doing is not supported by Oracle. From EM Database Console FAQ (863631.1):
What action needs to be taken if the hostname or SID of the database server is changed?
If there is a hostname or SID change for the database server then the database console needs to be recreated. There is no other solution if the hostname or SID is changed other that recreating the database console. All database console configuration files are created under the hostname_sid directory and the configuration files along with the repository keeps reference of the hostname, which is why dbconsole needs to be reconfigured if there is change in hostname/sid.
Refer : Note.293678.1 How To Reconfigure DB Control After a Hostname, Domain name or Listener Change Has Occurred On The Server
And take a look at note 278100.1: How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database

Local control center is not getting started
Hi all,
we have Linux server installed with OWB 10.2 which will act as CLIENT . And a database unix server (oracle 10g) which is doesnt have OWB installed on it which will act as SERVER.
Now we have created the OWB repository through CLIENT in the database server of the SERVER machine, and the server will be our OWB target database.
IN the scenerio we are able to open th design center. but when we are starting the OWB control services manually ( login as OWB repo Owner) through the client machine , it is not getting started. Failes with the error "run_service.sh not found"
And when we run the service doctor it shows the following message....
"There is a problem accessing the service startup script from the database server
Please verify that the disk containing the file is visible to the database server
Please verify that the database server account has access rights on the file " .
It seems to be the problem with acessing the OS file from client machine through the repo_owner(database owb repo user) which is a part of server database.
Please help me in this regard. The good thing about the oracle db is that you get the owb installed with the database so you dont run into these kind of problems.
When you install the database and owb together and try to run the controlcenter, the controlcenter comes up on its self via a script at <owbhome>rtp\sql\start_service
Now that you dont have your owb installed on your database you need to run that script with some different paramaters
Host: servername
port:1521
