Entertainment Center - Will this software ever see an update for

There are quite a few complaints on this software around these forums. I understand that Creative is not primarily a software company, but if you are going to make a remote for an almost $300 sound card which only works with proprietary software, you need to make sure you keep that software updated or open the source and allow for the community to develop it.
It's a shame that such a successful sound card/multimedia company is failing so hard in their software department. Drivers and software support is STILL not available or is quirky for Vista users. For a company with the most advanced sound card on the market, you are truly lacking in software and driver updates. I can't believe that the latest version for the X-Fi Fatalty is Oct of 2006. That's almost a year old.
A few suggestions - I'm sure users will add to this.
Create a "Favorites" folder which you can "Tag" favorites so that while browsing your files you can make quick shortcuts to frequent files. This shouldn't be too difficult to code.
Allow for media center to utilize external codecs. It's a pain when I can't browse to a folder and play a file such as .MKV which is a far superior form of archiving/containing video.
Allow for a speed based skip as you'd find in a DVD player which steps up times how many times you push the Fast Forward button. When playing archi'ved files such as an AVI, the percentage in which it skips ahead will change drastically based on how long the movie is. It's quite annoying when you are viewing a small video file. Possibly make the FF feature time based rather then size based.
The browsing is just not intuiti've where fumbling around the controller to navigate the menus is cumbersome. The whole system needs a re-work.

I have not been very happy with any "remotes" I've seen todate - even when they worked correctly.
I use a LiteOn SK700 wireless keyboard with Airboard 4.0 software. The keyboard is both couch and dark room friendly. 30' IR, WOK (Wake on Keypress), full keyboard with programmable multi-media keys. Holding grips are built in on either side. It has a drag lock button and mouse fully operable from the right hand grip.
The only drawback (as a remote), I've experienced, is that the keys are not self illuminating. I have placed small felt pads on the <return> and <F> keys as tactile reference - for use with WinDVD. It is the best Audigy2 "remote" I've ever handled. It works very naturally as a 20' HID (from the couch). As a Windows keyboard (2' HID), it works, but not well. It's not the worst 2' HID I've ever used, but it comes close. As a gaming keyboard, don't even go there.
I have 2 displays on a dualhead. one is 8', 720p, 3' away, the other is a 9' LCD on an articulated wall-mounted arm 2' away. So I have both 20' UI and 2' UI requirements on a daily basis.

First Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that doesn't help apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Will there ever be an update for retina display on InDesign CS6?

I know I'm a little late in the game guys...Didn't know all the details of this retina display business, but I figured it was the way of the future and I should just bite the bullet and get one. I've read everything I could find about InDesign and retina display (of course this was after I bought EVERYTHING...) will there EVER be an update for CS6, or do I have to go get the creative cloud?

Confirming that there will absolutely not be any hi DPI updates for InDesign 8 (CS6) either for Mac or Windows. As Peter indicated, this support was part of a massive code rewrite that went into InDesign 9 (CC) to support 64-bit versions of InDesign and the transition from the so-called Carbon to Cocoa programming frameworks on MacOS.

There hasn't been an update for PSE 9 since Sept 2011 so it is unlikely to ever be updated for the 70D.
Your options are
1) Upgrade PSE 12 when it comes out (probably soon)
2) Use the Canon software (DPP) that came with your camera - convert to TIF files and import those into PSE
3) Download/Install the free Adobe DNG 8.2RC Converter to convert your CR2 files to DNG files - the DNG files can then be processed by PSE 9

Well here is my N8/ Belle story, or should I say nightmare. I checked my phone for updates, and installed an important update, which ended up being Belle. Nothing has been the same since. What doesn't work on my phone since the install...
- I can not make phone calls without turning the phone off and then on again. Even if I do that, there are no guarantees I can put a call through. Everything about dialing a phone number looks like it is working, but all I get is silence. If I call my phone from another phone, I hear the ringing on the phone I am using, but my N8 doesn't ring, or act like a call is coming in.
-I can't text message anymore, send or receive. I can create a message, press send, but it just sits in the outbox. Occasionally an " Unable to send" window pops up.
-I charge up the phone, and the battery is dead within hours. A charge will not last through the night. Here's the kicker....I just had a brand new battery installed.
I am sure there are other issues that I have yet to discover, because,well, I am trying to solve the important things like making a darn phone call!!
I have been around to nokia offical forums in other countries, and I have seen other Nokia phone owners experiencing the exact same problems as I am. I purchased the phone in Canada from Rogers. Last year, I came to the States for five months, unlocked the phone and used T-Mobile. I returned to the States again this wiinter (I am still in the USA), and am back on T-Mobile. I have been updating my PSE since 10. Recently I purchased PSE13 as I didn't see an update for my 12. I was changing to a new laptop as my old laptop had been patched and worked and was showing signs of giving out. It was a Window's 7OS. My new one is a Windows 8 OS so I bought the 13 and downloaded it on the new laptop. Our desktop had died so I downloaded the 13 on the new desk computer also. Not thinking I downloaded 13 on my old laptop as I hope to get it patched up enough to be a backup for my photography. When I tried to activate it I realized that I had downloaded it too often. I didn't know you could only use it on two computers. Learn something new every day.. Any way I removed it and now my PSE 12 does not seem to be working. Now it could be something that I did or something that is an issue with the laptop. this laptop has all the previous editions on board as I always tried to update, except for the year I got a really good deal on Black Friday. I also notice that the new laptop has a copy of PSE 12 in the program list. To my knowledge I have never deactivated any of my PSE's except the extra 13 downloaded. Bottom line, do I need to go in and deactivate previous PSE versions and removed them from my computer? I could certainly use the space and secondly, can I deactivate the PSE 12 and then go back and reacitivate it and install it again on the old laptop or the desktop, whichever I deside would be the most appropriate place for the newer program. For the PSE 12 since it is an updater for 11, does the 11 still need to be on the laptop? thanks for anyone who can understand what I am trying to say and can advise me as to my next move. There won't be an update for Lightroom 4. The only way you can work with your D750 raw files is to use the free standalone DNG converter to create DNG copies. If you want to be able to work on the NEF files then you will have to upgrade to Lightroom 5. Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in. Everything is part of the Lightroom program. If you want to stay current with Lightroom then you need to follow the update/upgrade path. That means purchasing each new major version of Lightroom or subscribing to the creative cloud plan.

You need a Credit Card or an iTunes gift card to create an iTunes account.
Since you purchased the 2.0 upgrade, you already have an iTunes account.
The 2.0 upgrade comes with the Apps store you can use on the iPod touch. Also, you can use the App store in iTunes.
With both of these you can download free apps and you do not need a credit card since you already have an iTunes account.
If you wish to make an actual purchase (pay money) for an app, you will need a CC or gift card balance on you iTunes account.
Free apps/games thru the App store require an iTunes account (which you already have) and do not require that you have a CC or gift card balance.

Hi there - Can I use remote desktop to open an application - and perform a task within that application remotely.
I work in TV and often have to manage overnight renders of heavy graphics sequences (may take a few hours!) It would be great to be able to do this at home accessing the offices network and checking / re rendering failed renders etc from the confort of my laptop at home.
If this software can do this it's the answer to all my prayers!

if all you need is to be able to control another computer, then ARD would be overkill. Look into the freeware VNC. That will give you control capabilities and not cost you anything. You can find VNC applications for Mac here. Most people seem to find Chicken of the VNC works well for them.

To have LP rooted you 1st need to have KK installed and rooted which can be done with a locked bootloader then install a custom recovery like Teamwin then from within that you can flash a pre-rooted LP Rom - Tried and tested by me personally but my opinion is KK is better and smoother but this is my opinion - other members may and will say differently

My pages wont update since i "have not owned the major version of this software" then it wont let me open pages because its being updated...HELP I have so many essays to write.

What version of pages were you using? How was it purchased?
What version of OS X?
Apple has gone through several variations on the purchase/licensing of iWork and Pages, and the advice on what to do will vary with the method that Pages was obtained and installed.
In the meantime, you could rough out your essays on Text Edit, found in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder, or download and install one of the open source office applications, OpenOffice.org, LibraOffice or NeoOffice. None are a direct replacement for Pages, but they should be able to get you through until you have Pages back.

Will there be a Camera Raw update For Elements 10 for the new Canon 5D Mark 3?

I have the new Canon 5D. Love the results but, I can not process the photos in Lightroom 4 or Elements 10. I downloaded the update for CS5 to see if there was a work around but I don't know my way around the software. It looks like someone dropped the ball big time on this one.

Ok, so what is so different in the Camera Raw for CS5/CS6 Beta vs Elements? You would think that they would be both the same! There are a lot of professionals like myself bought their Canon 5D Mk 3 thinking that the software would be there to support the camera release. Sure, I am also wondering why Canon hasn't done an update with the release. This feels like buying a car and some day in the future - we don't know when there will be road that you can drive it on.
Tried to convert the Mk 3 DNG files. Didn't work. Get a purple or pink cover over the images. It works great with my 7D files.
If I had a Camera to fall back on I wouldn't be so desperate but my Canon 7D (Which I have enjoyed for the last two years) was destroyed in a accident the day before the Canon 5D mark 3 was anounced. So, I am starting from scratch and I need access to my Raw files to get my work done. Working with Canon Software is not what I would use in a productive work flow. If this was a hobby - OK but for production work, I need the right tools and right now, LR 4 which is the back bone of my work is useless.
