Entire Library Artwork Re-Sync..?

Hi iTunes People,
The other day, my PC informed me that it couldn't locate the iTunes library file.
I showed it where it always is, and I proceeded to find all my tunes effectively missing (i.e. with an '!' next to every track!).
Somehow, iTunes seems to have gone mad, and lost its ability to find its own library file, and subsequently all the links not only to all the tunes, but more annoyingly the links between all the artwork and the tunes!
I dragged and dropped the entire music library folder back onto the iTunes library window, which allowed it to understand that all the tunes did indeed still exist (in the same place as normal!), but now I find all my artwork is messed up.
Some albums retain their artwork intact, but many have tracks missing the artwork, and a stack load have lost their artwork / link to their artwork!
Is there any 'macro' way of getting iTunes to scan the entire library, find tracks / albums with missing artwork and then replace them automatically..?
What if I selected the entire library, then hit 'Get Artwork'..?
Any suggestions as to what's happened and how to clear up after it would be much appreciated!

Hi SaxonMusic,
If you are having issues getting all of your music to sync to your iPod Classic, you may want to go over the following article just to make sure that syncing is set up correctly in iTunes. Make sure that the sync "Entire Music Library" is selected. Also, you may be seeing doubles if you previously had your music library set up to sync manually and your iPod Classic is treating the new computer as a completely seperate library.

If you continue to have issues, you may want to restore your iPod to factory settings and do a fresh sync:

  • How can I get the iTunes library artwork to sync with the actual artist for iPhone 5S?

All of mine, and my friends, iPhone 5S artwork is all over the place. One artwork is for the wrong artist, etc.... how to fix?

    Hi endeavorpilates,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand your album artwork is matched to the wrong album or artist when you sync music from iTunes. If the artwork is correct in iTunes, I suggest removing all music from the iPhone 5s by syncing it off > reset the iPhone > sync the music back on. The steps for syncing music off and back on can be found in the following article.

  • I can't sync my iPod to entire library

My husband had the first iPod.  We shared an email address.  When he died, I gave his iPod away.  I had been able to sync mine early on, but now I can't add new content or sync the content of the main library.  I'm still using the old email account.  My computer recognizes my iPod, but my iTunes account shows two separate playlists.  The main one with new podcasts won't sync.  I can't figure out how to add new content to the playlist for my iPod.  I can play all the content on the computer.  How can I change settings so I can use the entire library?

The setting for syncing the entire music library is on the iPod's Music settings screen.  If your entire iTunes music library can fit on the iPod, you can use it.
Select the iPod in iTunes, so that you see its "management" screen.  I don't know if you have the latest iTunes (version 12) installed, or if it's an earlier version.  If 12, there is a sidebar (along left side of window) on the iPod's screen.  In the sidebar, under Settings, click Music.  If it's an earlier version, there is a bar of buttons starting with Summary.  Click Music next to Summary.  That is the iPod's Music settings screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to your iPod.
Near the top, there is a box for Sync Music.  Check that box to enable automatic syncing, if it's not already checked.  NOTE:  If that box is not already checked, the iPod is currently set to manually manage content.  If you change to automatic syncing (by checking that box), content on the iPod will be replace by content from your iTunes library.  Any songs on the iPod now that are not in your current iTunes library will be lost.
Below that setting, there are two options for how to sync.  To sync your entire iTunes music library to the iPod, choose the option to sync Entire music library.  When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your entire music library to the iPod.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes music library are synced automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync if already connected).
If your entire iTunes library is too large to fit on the iPod, you can use the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Please reply back to get more info...  or about using the manual method to load content on the iPod.

  • I have an iPod classic that syncs my entire library, I'd like to buy a smaller iPod, a nano maybe for the gym. Can I use the same library or do I need to set up a new library for the 2nd iPod? Is that possible? I mean for one to have 2 iTune librarys?

In other words, no. You don't need another iTunes Library for your new iPod
Another iTunes Library, that's only if someone elses music is mixed in with yours and you want to create another Windows user account with their music in it.
The iTunes Library is the master vault containing all your content, from there you create playlists or smart playlists specially tailored for the smaller iPod's storage requirements.
For instance if the iPod can hold only 2,000 songs, then you create a smart playlist based upon those rules/limitation. Plus what type of music you like.
You have a incredible degree of control with smart playlists, they update automatically so you only set the conditions for what goes into them. Including content from other created playlists and smart playlists.
Then, when you hook up the smaller iPod, it has it's own sync options, "all of your music and playlists" or "only select playlists"  So you use the second option to select just the smart playlist you tailored for the new iPod.
When you hook up the iPod Classic, only it's sync options are used, not the new iPod ones.
I hope I explained it better this time.

  • IPhone 4s set to manually sync, but every time I try to put a single song on my phone it downloads my entire library. How do I sync individual songs without downloading entire iTunes library?

I recently purged my iPhone 4S of most of its music because I didn't have enough gigabytes of free space to download the latest iOS (my phone was actually completely full). That ticked me off but I didn't have time for a backup. I transferred all purchases to my library and I deleted the music from my phone.
Since then, I've been annoyed that I don't have all my music but I've been enjoying the free space that I have, so I prefer to restore songs from my library individually now, depending what I'm in the mood to hear, and I don't miss having a full phone.
However, whenever I try to manually sync music that was ripped from a CD, music I didn't download from iTunes, but is playable in my iTunes library, iTunes thinks it has to download the entire library, which I don't even have the space for, anyway. However, my iPhone seems fine wirelessly (I have Home Sharing turned on) syncing individual songs which were purchased in the iTunes store.
So whenever I try to sync a single song, or an album perhaps, which was not purchased on iTunes, I get the message "updating files on iphone" and it says it's copying all the thousands of songs in my entire library. But my settings are for manual sync only. I wind up cancelling the sync every time, because I would have to wait for it to finish copying thousands of songs before it got to the one I selected. Why on earth is it doing this?
How do I regain the ability to sync a single song at a time?
    This has been exasperating me.

While your iPhone is synching in iTunes, do the following:
    1.  Click on your iPhone's icon on the left.
    2.  Find and click on the "Tones" tab on the upper right of the iTunes display.
    3.  Choose the synch option you would like.

  • I accidentally deleted my whole i tune library. I was able to retrieve the entire library, but all my play lists have dissapeared and iTunes says that my ipod is not synced with this computer. Can i sync my playlists from my ipod to my itunes?

i accadentally deleted my entire library (over 10,000 song) when i was trying to delete an old back up file off an external hard drive. Now when i open I Tunes and connect my ipod, a message says tht my ipod is not synced with this computer. This is the only computer this ipod has ever been synced to, so i don't know how to reconnect the two. I was able to restore all my music to the itunes library, but I lost all my playlists. I spent considerable time creating the playlists and they are stll on my ipod. Can I somehow sync in a way that my ipod can give the computer my play lists?

With your iPod connected to iTunes right->click on it's device name in the left hand pane of iTunes under devices and select Export Playlists.

  • ITunes loses my entire library with artwork, playlists and podcasts every time I close the program. Any advice very welcome

iTunes loses my entire library with artwork, playlists and podcasts every time I close the program. Upon restarting it takes at least 15 minutes to rebuild the library and podcasts and a lot longer to replace the artwork, I also lose playlists. I would really welcome some feedback and assistance here and am losing faith in the Apple product. Since iTunes has been updated to version 11 it seems to have caused a lot of issues for many people. I am hopeful of a reply and a resolution. I have approx. 1200 albums at just under 90 Gb. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ditch AVG (at this stage it really does seem to be the problem for some people) and install Microsoft Security Essentials...

  • IPhone will not sync purchased songs or entire library

I have been having a lot of issues with my iPhone 4s lately. All iTunes, iPhone, and MacBook have all had the most recent updates. I restored my phone (last backup date was last night, 5/21/2013) due to the issues i was having with major lagging. But to get to the music topic, I have my phone set to sync entire music library. Inside the "on this phone" screen within iTunes it will state on the music list that all the songs are there and on my "purchased playlist" they are all there but the purchased playlist on my phone does not agree what so ever to what it shows to be on the phone within iTunes. For example my "purchased" playlist on my computer is 453 songs but on my iPhone it only shows 357. Also, my computer shows my entire library to be 1004 songs but my phone only shows 826.
I have never had this problem before. So i restored my iPhone again. Same thing and now for some reason all but 11 of the original 158 pictures are there, but it is slowly (and i mean slowly) getting one or two more every few min. It is now up to 127 out of the 158. Is there some reason that this could be the case with the music?
I just do not understand how iTunes "on this phone" can says its there but on the actual phone it is not.
Any help or advice is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    wandatwitch,
Are your ringtones and videos purchases from the iTunes Store? If so, you may not be authorized to sync them. Play some of the videos or TV shows and you should get a prompt to authorize the computer. For more information about authorization, please take a look at this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
If these files are not iTunes Store purchases, they may not be in a format compatible with the iPhone.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • HT1369 why can't my entire library sync....

I'm trying to sync my entire library. I get a unauthorized message

Thanks Jacob for your explanation. This has happened a couple times to me with podcasts I get, and just happened again this morning. It's very frustrating iPod doesn't do all mov files, but I'm sure to get the device as small as that some compromises have to be made. I normally just delete the podcast so that it doesn't keep telling me that it can't sync it, but I decided there must be an easy way to get it on the iPod.
What you can do is, once you get you mov files into iTunes, then highlight them, go to the "Advanced" menu, and then convert them for the iPod/iPhone. It may take a few minutes to convert each clip (my 7 minute clip took about 8-10 minutes on my Macbook Pro), but they will then be readable on the iPod.
Hope this helps! There may be another or quicker method to do this, but this seems to be a pretty easy way to do it.

  • Sync entire library to iphone

When I plug my new Iphone 4s into Itunes, it only transfers my most recent 250 purchases. I would like my entire library to sync. any suggestions?

Have you told it what to sync in iTunes?  It's not magic, you have to tell it what content to actually sync.
