Entire page becomes visually degraded after inserting an image

This is a weird one. A picture is worth a thousand words, so please see the attached PNGs.
I'm making a portfolio book. Most page are images with text on the side. In some cases, when I drag an image (All images are JPEGs), the entire page becomes visually degraded - the images color become washed out and the font becomes thin, even if its set to bold.
I thought it involves CMYK/RGB conversions but everything I tried failed, including changing the color space to every profile I found. The real weird thing is that some JPEGs I can drag and it doesn't change the page graphics, while others cause the weird effect. I looked inside the meta-data, there is nothing different between two JPEGs, yet one will cause the page to degrade and the other wont.
Any help would be appreciated.

It appears that it happens whenever there is ANY effect applied to any layer on the page. Transparency, drop shadow, the whole list. I put the objects on different layers, it didn't help.

Yes, I will....the next time it happens. In the past it has happened to AOL a number of times (which is usually my home page), as well as some Yuku message boards I visit...The History Channel A&E, Spike TV, all at various times.
Unfortunately, this morning when it happened to one of the Yuku message board, I went directly to the tool bar, cleared my cache and cookies, without capturing a screenshot. Now , everything I've bookmarked is working properly but I will tell you it's a problem that I only experience on Firefox and not any other browsers, even when I've imported bookmarks from Firefox. It's been a fairly consistent problem for the past 6 months or so where I manually uninstalled, reinstalled Firefox (my preferred browser) and again, manually started bookmarking my sites all over again. It seems that when it happens most of the icons, graphics and photographs are missing, leaving me with only disorganized text.
The next time that it occurs, I will take a screen shot and forward it to you.

Temporary performance degradation after inserting many records

I run into the following performance problem:
I'm accessing Oracle from Java (JDBC).
2 tables:
DISPLAYS
PAYLOADINFO
PAYLOADINFO contains a foreign key to DISPLAYS.
A process writes 100000 records into PAYLOADINFO, in a single transaction. The transaction is committed. Each of the records places the SAME id in the foreign key (ie. all payload-info originates from the same display).
After commit succeeds, a query (on other tables referencing the DISPLAY table) is launched.
1) With the foreign key, queries become VERY slow for a while. After this 'while', queries get back up to speed.
2) with NO foreign key linking the two tables, subsequent queries keep their original performance.
I read somewhere that this could be caused by unbalanced indexing ? Is this the case ? Where should I look for a solution ?

Can you define "a while"? Are we talking minutes? hours? days?
When are statistics gathered in the database?
Do you see a change in the query plan? Or do you see other tasks consuming system resources?

Getting a blank page in browser after inserting an imagerollover

Hello; I wanted to insert an image rollover in my page.Quite simple of course but the following happened. After inserting the rollover,using "insert,image,rollover image" and filled in the screen (first image,second image,etc) I went to my browser to look at the result and my entire page had disappeared,accept the body bg image. All the css,images en text had gone. I tried to insert a rollover in a different page(another url) and everyting worked fine,so the problem has to be in the page I am working on. Is there someone who has had the same problem?? many thanks for the help!!

Why can't I insert an image into the header in Pages 5.0.1?

In previouis versions of Pages, I was able to insert an image into a Header or Footer.
This action does not appear an option in Pages 5.0.1.
Am I missing something?
I must say, I do not like the NEW interface. Much has been lost with the transition to the Cloud.
I like the concept of using my iPad Air and my desktop, however functionality has been tossed out for deference to the Tablet.

Use a "Floating Graphic" and send it to the Section Master in the Arrange > Section Master menu. Floating is called Stays With Page now. Don't worry about it not being in the Header field. It will serve the purpose.

Inserting an image causes Dreamweaver to freeze.

Dreamweaver CS5
Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2 (mix of machines)
4GB RAM
Plenty of disk space
Followng these steps...
Open Dreamweaver
Click Insert
Click Image
**FREEZE**
Dreamweaver locks up and never recovers. Only happens on standard user accouts, admins works fine. Given 'everyone' read/write permission to adobe folder in program files, but no difference. The only work around I can see if to save the page > create a site > the insert the image; this then works.
After running the microsoft debugger, attached to the dreamweaver process I get this at the point of the crash
(1044.1328): C++ EH exception - code e06d7363 (first chance)
A few of these infact and then nothing.
Anyone got any ideas. Have tried all latest updates, uninstall > clear prefs files > install no difference. Also the Extension manager keeps say it stopped working when launched.... is this related? As I say only on a standard user, admins all fine.

Inserted Picture Occupies Entire Page

My iD document consists of two-page spreads with light gray background ("BG") layers.The two pages in any given spread respond differently to the picture insertion command, using Cmd+d or Ctrl+d (same response under Win XP and Mac OS X). When I try to insert a picture into the right page, the inserted image becomes a part the entire page beginning at the upper left corner. When I try to reposition the image, the BG moves along with the image.
This only happens on the right hand page. On the left page, inserted pictures behave normally.
My work-around is, for right-hand pages, to copy and paste the image, rather than using Cmd+d.
Working with my page master, I actually removed the BG from the RH page, and copied/pasted the BG from LH page. The behavior described above persists.
Two questions: (1) Can someone please show me how to fix the right-hand page? (2) Is my document content compromised in any way, by copying/pasting the image rather than inserting it?

Besides locking the background layer, there seems to be something different about how you are Placing (you need to learn the ID lingo) the images from page to page, or perhaps you've locked the frame itself on the left and left it onlocked on the right.
Being able to select and place content into a locked frame is a preference item, and the default is not enabled. Note that this is not the same as locking the entire layer, which makes all objects on the layer non-selectable regardless of the inidividual lock status.
NEVER copy/paste images into ID. You get only the image preview, and you have no way to update or edit the image.

Help! The new Pages. I can't copy an entire page or rearrange the pages. In the new formatt also when I insert a new page when using a template it doesn't give me the formatting and guides. Can anyone help.

I don't like this new one. Many of the graphics features have been removed. Not impressed at all. Very frustrated.
The business card templates and others behave strangly. If I insert a page it's blank only. I don't get the guides. I was in the middle of a design project and had to start again from scratch as it threw everything out of alignment and I can't copy an entire page. When I use select all, group then copy when I pasted it on the new page it overlayed all the cards in the top two segments. Frustrating ! I ended up saving my first page under a different name that was the only way to copy the page then I had to work between three documents instead of one.
I went in today to last years Christmas tag file and the same issues I can't copy a page. I can't rearrange the pages.
Simple features like colour choice and transperency for shapes are gone. I want to use my colour choices not someone else.

Yes, I am using 09 with out issues. Just have to remember to use "open with 09" or open pages 09 first then my document.

Solving this requirement on a modern Windows system is going to be problematic too, as the autorun mechanisms are increasingly being locked down over there, if not by the end-user or the system installer, then by the usual anti-malware tools that are installed.
Given this is one of the most vulnerable populations here in terms of operational security, you'll probably want to target online distribution, or to distribute a signed application that can be installed on the target (akin to a managed system) and that then accesses your data on external storage. All that app might do is access the disk, verify that the contents of the device are trusted and valid, and launch the browser.
I'd likely target online distribution or pre-loaded distributions and iOS, as that's where all of the older folks I'm dealing with are headed, too. If not a native app, then maybe a web-app here, and download the contents into the HTML5 local storage.

Javascript Error after insert a Webpart into Page

Hi everone, have you ever experienced getting error just after inserting a Webpart into page? I'm using Sharepoint Server 2013. These steps what I did:
1. Create new page
2. Click 'Add Webpart'
3. Choose the webpart and click OK
4. Webpart showed on page (simple table form)
5. All ribbon controls are disable and there is javascript error on browser's console with message:
SCRIPT1004: Expected ';'

That line is not from my codes, it's automatically added by sharepoint after inserting webpart. Thanks for anyone who has workaround for this..

Per my knowledge, such error might occurred when we modify the HTML code of the page, through SharePoint Designer or Content Editor Web Part.
What web part you added into the page?
What if you create another new page and insert a list into it, will the error occurs?

Page still displays "Untitled Document" after inserting title [was: Question]

I use dreamweaver to run our ferret rescue web site i have put the title in page properties, but it still comes up untitled document can anyone help.

The most likely reason for Untitled Document to be displayed in the the browser title bar after inserting a title is that you're using frames. The title needs to be put in the frameset document.
If you are using frames, you should reconsider. For an explanation of the problems, see Frames are evil.
I am so sorry i used meaningless subject lines but i did come looking for help I had no idea how to put a web site together got some software and just did it so the ferret rescue center could have a web site its www.ferretfriendsrescue.info have a look then you can make fun of it, i thought i could get help on this forum but not with people like you, Mr community expert.

After upgrade to Firefox Version 4, my Google is not working anymore. Google opens. But if i try to open a search result, page becomes pale and the sign "no feedback" appears. Scrolling also no more possible

Every time I search with Google, I get a search result, but if I select one and click on it, the link does not open. Instead the page becomes pale and the sign "no feedback" appears. Also the scroll function does not work anymore. Impossible to use a Google link. I had to use the "Windows Explorer" again where Google works properly. (With the older Firefox Version I had never problems)

I wish it were that but a long time ago when I had a problem with the gadgets with iGoogle back 6 months ago thereabouts I was asked to disable it then and I did and I just went to re-check and it is still not enabled, however, it will not let me un-install it though.. It only gives me an option to enable or disable.. Any advice ? So I'm wondering if it is something else still or is there a problem with the avast still ?

My pages in Firefox are timing out after 10 minutes, and a grey overlay appears on the entire page. Why is this happening and how I can I stop this?

Ever since upgrading to Firefox 25.0.1 yesterday, my open pages are timing out after exactly 10 minutes and being covered by a grey overlay. I cannot use the page until I refresh it. This is extremely annoying and doesn't seem to be caused by an extension or add-on. Please tell me how to stop this inconvenient and obnoxious problem!

After trial and error - the culprit turned out to be the Firefox Ginger (spell check and grammar checker) add-on. Disabling that stopped the problem. Thanks for your help! :)

It is bound to a Dataset which gets it's data from a SQL Database.
Loading the Data and Filtering the data based on certain conditions work 100%. The problem I am having is as follows:
I have a form on the Page that takes input and inserts a row into the Database. When this happens, the DataGrid won't automatically reflect the changes (even if I recall the Fill Method of the Dataset). No matter what I do, I have to refresh the entire page
and THEN Fill the Dataset to see any changes.
This is what strikes me as odd...
When I do a delete row operation on the Database (Custom Method on the Dataset with conditions), and just Fill the Dataset again (without doing anything special), the row deletes and the changes is reflected IMMEDIATELY.
What am I doing wrong here? Why would Delete Row reflect the changes on the DataGrid but no Insert Row?

Just remember, this code was auto-generated with the drag & drop onto the Page, so I did little in terms of setting the actual bindings.
All in all, what I have done so far works as intended, except that when I want to add a row to the table it does not reflect, and that it only shows after refreshing/restarting the application.
I will try and put together a reproducable sample.
